Khachanov entered the tournament as unseeded and taking poor charge in the first round. There's no problem getting through in straight 6-3 6-1 6-1. In the second round he'd take on Auger-Aliassime, the third seed, and after dropping the first set would fight back to win 6-7 6-3 6-2 6-2. In the third round he'd take on Bonzi, but again no problem getting through in straight 6-3 6-2 6-4. In the fourth round he'd take on Lorenzo Musetti, who'd taken out Mannarino and Monfils along the way. And after going down two sets to one, he'd fight back to win 7-5 4-6 6-7 6-1 6-4 to advance to the quarterfinals. In the quarterfinals, he'd take on Brooksby, the number 28 seed, who'd taken out Kubler along the way. But unfortunately, Brooksby got injured in the second set and would be forced to retire in the third, handing Khachanov the win 6-2 7-5 3-2 retirement. If Zverev's going to win this one, he has to use the experience. He's got a Grand Slam in his pocket now, so the pressure is off. He's also made a bunch of finals. He knows how to win these semi-finals. Even though Khachanov has made the semis before, the experience of Zverev should be good, but he also needs to keep his cool because the last couple of matches, even though he's been winning relatively easily, he's starting to get frustrated. So, he really needs to keep his cool if he's going to get the win. Interesting match-up here. Probably not the match that we all expected at the start of the week, but still a banger.
