Youngest NPTEL Star at IIT Madras | NPTEL Star Interaction (South Zone) @Eduminofindia
Watch on YouTubeVideo summary
The video highlights the success and impact of the NPTEL Star program through interactions with distinguished participants from various institutions, including University of Hyderabad, B.V.R.I.T., Nehru International School, and IIT Madras. A research scholar from Telangana shared her journey as a full-time researcher who completed 21 courses to earn certifications in two disciplines and one domain, which significantly aided her preparation for the UGC NET exam. Similarly, Dr. Parvati from B.V.R.I.T. Hyderabad College of Engineering for Women expressed that this was her first time attending such an event but noted she had already completed all 21 NPTEL courses to achieve four stars within a single year. She emphasized how these programs provide updated knowledge and insights into subjects, encouraging both students and faculty to engage with them regularly while praising the seamless organization and friendly support received during their visit to IIT Madras.
A heartwarming narrative emerges from Sai Rakshith, a fifth-grade student at Nehru International School who was inspired by his mother's dedication to writing over 32 courses in three years. Motivated by her example and guidance, he has already completed six exams with five more scheduled for the current semester, earning him an NPTEL believer certification. His parents, both MBA professors, steered him toward management-related courses based on their academic background rather than technical fields, ensuring a comfortable learning environment where they could easily teach him alongside his studies. Despite balancing regular schoolwork and homework, Sai enjoys participating in these exams without feeling pressured, demonstrating that family support plays a crucial role in fostering interest rather than forcing participation.
Dr. Bhuvaneshwari from Nehru Institute of Technology Coimbatore further illustrates the program's accessibility by sharing how her seven-year-old son initiated his own journey into NPTEL courses after seeing an older child receive certification without age restrictions. Although she initially selected management-focused subjects like human resource management to simplify teaching and align with their family background, her son showed greater enthusiasm for these practical topics related to real-life scenarios than technical ones requiring additional explanation. She proudly noted that no special motivation was needed because Sai actively sought opportunities to write exams, often waiting outside the exam hall eagerly. This story underscores how parental involvement can evolve from guidance to empowerment when children take ownership of their learning paths naturally and enthusiastically.
The event concluded with Dr. Vijay Rajakumar, Director of the MBA department at Institute of Engineering Technology Coimbatore, who expressed his joy in receiving three NPTEL star awards alongside his wife and son during this ceremony. Inspired by his wife's achievement of a domain star last time, he decided to pursue more courses himself, eventually earning a discipline star while continuing her educational journey. He reflected on learning as a continuous process that benefits families collectively, noting how witnessing their children succeed motivates them further. The overall atmosphere at IIT Madras was described as encouraging and well-organized, reinforcing the idea that NPTEL serves not just as an academic platform but also as a community-building initiative where educators and students alike grow together through shared experiences and mutual inspiration.

I am from University of Hyderabad

From Telangana.
And
I have completed two I have certified as
a two discipline star and one domain
star. And it is helpful
for all I have completed 21 courses also
and it is helpful for me to
clear my UGC net. And now I have
joined as a full-time scholar in
University of Hyderabad.
>> Hello everyone. This is Dr. Parvati,
professor from B. V. R. I. T. Hyderabad
College of Engineering for Women.
I came to attend the program which is
being conducted by IIT Madras regarding
star program NPTEL star program. In
fact, this is the first time I am
attending. I have totally done 21
courses NPTEL courses and I have
achieved total four stars. In this year
especially I have achieved a discipline
star, enthusiast star and
another star also. And this is very good
program. Actually, I suggested the
students as well as faculty also can do
many more programs through through these
NPTEL courses and this is where we can
achieve more knowledge and more
insightful information regarding subject
or
any other updated information we can
achieve through these learning
practices. And it is very good program
and very nicely the arrangements were
done.
Everywhere from the beginning of
stepping into the Chennai and reaching
the
IIT Madras campus and the entire program
guided very nicely and we didn't get any
problem till now and it is very good
program I've seen.
The people are very
friendly and very encourage you and
they're very nicely
arranged the programs. Thank you. Thank
you so much.
>> Hello everyone. I'm Sai Rakshith
studying grade five in Nehru
International School.
I was inspired to write NPTEL courses by
my mother. She motivated me. She has
written 32
plus courses in
in
the last 3 years. So, I was also
inspired by her. She bought
I have already written six courses and
this semester I wrote five so
five
courses.
My mother motivated me. She explained
word by word in simple way. I understand
it and I
I wrote every exam.
This time I got NPTEL believer.
>> Now, how do you select your courses?
Whether your mother selects for you or
you have your own interest?
>> My
My mother My mother My both parents are
MBA professors. So, I told to take the
domain a management domain. From that
she will only take what in
which course I will
write.
>> So, you don't feel any pressure for
doing these courses?
[cough and clears throat]
Because you have regular school work,
homeworks, all those tensions also.
Do you feel any pressure specialized
from anywhere?
>> No.
>> You enjoy doing courses?
>> Yes.
Yes, I am.
>> Okay.
>> Mhm.
>> So, uh
>> How much more?
>> Uh okay, that's okay.
>> Family guidance.
>> Okay.
>> How do you motivate your kid?
>> I think
>> Because since
he's a school student. Because not all
parents uh
want to do
push certain things to the
kids so what? So, how do you motivate
him and how does he react to you when
you
select He's telling you select his
courses, right? So, when you select
these courses, how does he react for
your selection?
>> Okay, fine. Fine.
Actually, I'm Dr. Bhuvaneshwari.
Currently, I'm working as a professor in
Nehru Institute of Technology,
Coimbatore. The thing is,
I feel more proud that instead of
telling as a professor,
I'm telling myself as a mother. I feel
very much proud about that. The reason
behind this you are asking me how the
things are how you motivated
but I'm not motivated. He is the
initiator for this
courses. Actually, I was writing when I
was writing the courses, he will wait
for me he would wait for me outside the
exam hall. He's 7 years old, he asked
me,
"Ma, can I write this courses?" Okay.
So, at that time, I don't know whether
he is eligible for writing this courses
or not. So, the when I first entered
into this NPTEL star program,
I have seen one 14-year kid got the
NPTEL star certification. On that time
only I came to know
even there is no age limit for the NP
doing NPTEL courses. So, the next
semester immediate semester itself, he
has selected the courses. But the thing
is I have selected only the management
courses. The reason behind that one is
because we are from the management
background. I have to spend time if I'm
selecting some technical courses
otherwise some other courses, I have to
spend some time with him to
teach him as well as I I would I'll be
sitting with him like that. So, if it is
a management courses, it will be very
easier for us to teach him. That is the
reason we have selected. Mostly, I'm
concentrating on the human resource
management side courses. Because the
thing is he feel very
easy for that one because the management
human resource management courses are
more practical as well as it will be
related to our real life. So, he's he's
more excited than me to to do this
courses. So, there is no motivation and
special motivation is not needed for
Sai.
>> Hello. This is Dr. Vijay Rajakumar, the
director of MBA department at Institute
of Engineering Technology, Coimbatore.
I'm very happy to be a part of this
NPTEL award ceremony function at
IIT Madras.
Uh this time I have received three NPTEL
star awards. Last time my wife and my
son came here to receive the star
awards. That's inspired and me to write
more exams.
As a professor, as a faculty member of
management studies, I want to do more
courses. With the inspiration of my
wife, I have written these courses. She
got domain star. Now I have received a
discipline star. So, it's a learning is
a continuous process. So, we have to do.
Uh I am very much happy about my son. He
is also receiving the
uh NPTEL star award this time. Thank you
so much.
