Video summary
The lecture focuses on the worship ministry established at the Tabernacle of Moses, presenting it as a divinely ordained pathway for humanity to encounter the very presence of God. According to the instructions given to Moses on Mount Sinai, this structure was designed with specific patterns and materials, including gold, silver, precious stones, and various fabrics like blue, purple, and scarlet threads, each carrying deep symbolic meaning. The entire layout, from the outer courts to the Holy of Holies, illustrates a progression toward God's presence, where every element served as a visual representation of spiritual truths intended for the people of Israel.
Inside the Tabernacle, various furnishings symbolized essential aspects of Christian faith and life. The Ark of the Covenant represented the dwelling place of God, while the Table of Showbread pointed to Jesus as the Bread of Life who satisfies spiritual hunger. The seven-branched lampstand, fueled by pure olive oil, symbolized the Holy Spirit's illumination that allows believers to understand and receive the Word of God. Additionally, the Altar of Burnt Offering in the outer court foreshadowed the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross, while the bronze laver represented the ongoing need for sanctification and cleansing through the work of the Holy Spirit.
The Altar of Incense held a unique significance as it symbolized the prayers and intercessions of God's people rising up to Him. This concept is further reinforced in the Book of Revelation, where incense is explicitly identified as the prayers of the saints offered before the throne of God. The lecture highlights that while access to the Holy of Holies was once restricted to the High Priest once a year, the cross of Christ has opened a new and living way for all believers to approach God boldly. Through Jesus' sacrifice, the veil separating humanity from God's presence has been torn, granting every believer direct access to God's throne of grace for mercy and help in times of need.

Okay.
Okay. Um so we'll we'll continue. So we
looked at um um the changes and
everything that happened right right up
to the the New Testament church. Okay.
we just focus on um uh on the worship
which happened at the tabernacle of
Moses. Now it's um uh you know this we
we see that it is actually a pathway if
you see right from the outer courts to
the holy of holies it's a pathway to
encounter God right it's a pathway to
encounter or enter into the the very
presence of God right so we see that um
and we see the whole instruction which
God gave um at the mount of Sinai and
gave Moses and very specific
instructions, very detailed
instructions. Right? So let's take a
look at that. Uh let's turn to Exodus
25,
right? Exodus 25,
Exodus 24, we see that okay, second part
of the chapter, Moses goes up to the
mountain. The cloud, the glory of God
covers the mountain. Um and then um this
is for six days. Moses is there uh on
Mount Si. On the seventh day, he calls
out Moses
in the midst of the cloud and then Moses
goes there um into the cloud, goes up to
the mountain and then Moses was there
for about 40 days, right? 40 days. And
during which time the Lord gave many
instructions to Moses and this is what
we see verse 20 chapter 25 is what we
see and the Lord Lord spoke to Moses
saying speak to the children of Israel
they bring me that they bring me an
offering from everyone who gives it
willingly with his heart you shall take
my offering. So that's the first thing
we see willingness
um and the whole thing being an offering
which means it's a free will offering
right you decide no pressure it's a free
will offering only thing is you are made
aware of the instruction right the
people were made aware of the
instruction of God but it was the
willingness came from their own hearts
they had to make their decision should
we do this or not Right? So the Lord
makes it very clear. He says from u
everyone who gives it willingly from his
heart you shall take my offering. And
then goes on to explain what is this
offering. Right? Uh this is the offering
which you shall take from them. Gold,
silver, bronze, blue, purple and scarlet
thread, fine linen, goat's hair, ramkins
dyed red, badger skins and acacia wood.
oil for the light and spices for the
anointing oil and for the sweet incense.
On stones and stones to be set in the
ephod and in the breastplate and let
them make me a sanctuary that I may
dwell among them according to all that I
show you that is the pattern of the
tabernacle and the pattern of all its
furnishings just so you shall make it.
So the Lord is saying okay these are the
raw materials like um some specific
things like precious stones, precious
materials, metal like gold, silver uh
and so on and also some uh skins of
animals like leather uh which is used
oil is there um and then he says okay
you will make me a dwelling place I will
dwell uh among them and this is the
pattern also and I'm going to show the
pattern and according to the pattern
you'll make the tabernacle and also
everything that is in the tabernacle the
furnishings of the tabernacle right and
uh if you see it starts with the ark of
the testimony right the the ark where
it's um
I'm not going into the details but it
says it made of acacia wood and so many
instructions and how the design should
be right if you look at um verse 17 it
talks about the mercy seat right so it's
the ark of the covenant which is
basically a box right but it has poles
and rings through which the poles are
let so that it can be carried uh the
poles are there and you carry the poles
and you can carry the ark no it's you
can move it around right so this is the
ark of the testimony
and into that ark he says okay there are
some things that you need to give fine
you need to foot right and I'll give you
also it talks about the mercy seat right
again another furnishing which has some
specific designs right it has some
angelic beings uh which are mentioned
there uh on two ends of the mercy seat
and and also it says uh you put the
mercy seat on top of the ark verse 21
right this mercy seat should be put on
top of the ark And verse 22, he says,
"There I will meet with you." Right? So
the Lord is saying, "Okay, this ark of
the covenant, it's a is a special thing.
I will meet with you." So basically, the
ark of the covenant represented the
presence of God. The ark of the covenant
was the presence of God, right? Not only
was it representative represent meaning,
okay, you know, this dove is a symbol of
the Holy Spirit. The dove is not the
Holy Spirit, right? The dove is a symbol
of the Holy Spirit, but here the ark of
the covenant, not only did it represent
the the presence of God, literally the
presence of God dwelt among them, among
the the people in the ark of the
covenant. Right? So the Lord is saying,
I will meet with you. I will speak with
you from above the mercy seat and I will
give you commandment to the children of
Israel. Okay. So the Lord himself is
saying okay this is how I I will meet
with you here. I will give instructions.
I will speak and then you know so that
the children of Israel can hear and they
can obey. Okay. Then what is the other
thing that we see here? Verse 23
onwards. There was a table with bread
right. Um so that also is make made of
acia wood and it it gives the length and
breadth and everything is mentioned
there and how it is to be overlaid with
pure gold and and uh molding of gold and
so on. Right? So here he says uh um
the they will also make poles of wood
and overlay that the table also is
carried in the same manner as the um ark
of the covenant. Right? And you shall
set the showbread on the table before me
always. So the Lord wanted that bread to
be placed what is called as the
showbread to be placed on the table. Now
this bread represented something. We
look at it. Um it was to be present
there. Right? Then we read about the
golden lampstand. Okay. Gold lampstand.
Pure gold. It'll be of hammered work. Uh
it'll have shaft its branches, bowls,
ornaments. It has six branches that come
out of its sides. Three branches of the
lampstand of one side and three on the
other side.
uh three bowls shall be made with almond
blossoms on each uh on one branch and
and so on you know so it it gives a very
detailed thing of how the lampstand
should be how the shaft should be the
branches should be and so on right and
it says there that these you should make
seven lamps for it so it has these seven
branches one in the center three on each
side so seven are there and the wick
trimmer the trays is which means the
wick is the u what is actually used
which will be lit up right for the lamp
to burn uh that also is mentioned there.
Then verse chapter 26 talks about the
tabernacle itself, the tent itself,
right? Um it is made with 10 curtains of
fine woven um linen and the colors are
mentioned there. Linen of blue, purple
and scarlet thread. So the the there are
some colors which uh you know some
significance referred to that. So
blue referring to everything that is
heavenly because it's a color of the sky
the firmament. So blue purple referring
to uh royalty and the uh kingdom or
kingship and also it also has scarlet
which is referring to the blood the
sacrifice and uh symbolic of the blood
sacrifice um of the cross right. Um so
you see that you know all these colors
are very uh special specific and it is
mentioned that this is how it needs to
be built and we know that the tabernacle
has three parts to it right um the out I
mean the inside of it has two parts to
it the holy place and the most holy
place right okay
then what else do we see chapter 27
Exodus chapters 27 talks about the altar
of the burnt offering. Now, is this
within the tabernacle or outside of it
outside right outside of this uh this
tent? Now, that's an altar which we we
saw that altar is a raised place, right?
It is made again of wood and uh it has a
certain height and it is the shape is
there and there are four horns on the
four corners of the altar. Okay. Horns
meaning it's like the the horn of a uh
of an animal of a cattle. Right. So
below it it has pans to receive the ash
which means that uh here something is
slaughtered it is killed. It is burnt
and there is something to collect
whatever remains of the burnt right.
It's uh of what of the burnt offering
which is ashes are there and that needs
to be collected so that it can be taken
out and uh it can be cleaned. Right?
Look at the court of the tabernacle. The
court of the tabernacle there will be
hangings for the court made of fine
woven linen and it has these pillars 20
pillars to sustain that whole curtain.
Right? the the court of the tabernacle,
the covering uh of the tabernacle and u
it has uh the pillars, it has bands of
silver, the hook shall be of silver, the
length of the coat shall be 100 cubits.
So very specific detailed uh structure
which is given to Moses, right? Then we
read about what should be done with the
lampstand, right? How should it be taken
care of? Okay. Verse 20. Chapter 26, 27,
sorry. Verse 20. And you shall command
the children of Israel that they bring
you pure oil of pressed olives for the
light. Okay. So the no other oil but
olive oil. It has been used for the lamp
to cause the lamp to burn continually.
Which means the lamp there should be
enough oil to keep it burning and oil
should be replenished so that it burns
continually. Okay? It does not go out.
The lamp does not go out in the
tabernacle of meeting outside the veil
which is before the testimony. Aaron and
his son shall tend it from the evening
until morning before the Lord. It shall
be a statue forever to their generations
on behalf of the children of Israel.
Right? So um this so we see that it is
outside of the it's very specific. What
does it say in the tabernacle of meeting
outside the veil which is before the
testimony. So there is a veil which is
separating that innermost compartment
which has the ark of the testimony and
uh you know outside that is this lamp
where the lamp stand and also he says
okay the oil should be mentioned and so
on. Uh now verse chapter 28 talks about
the the
kind of uh apparel or the uniform um
they the sons of Aaron should uh wear
actually the priests should wear right
and so 28 also talks about that 29 also
talks about that um then we talk then we
see that uh um in chapter 30 talks about
the altar of incense right towards the
end of chapter Chapter 29 we see the um
the daily offerings what should it be
right what should be the daily offerings
that are offered the animals that are
brought in the burnt offerings which are
given you know all that is mentioned in
towards the end of chapter 29 right uh
Exodus 30 talks about the altar of
incense right so this incense uh is to
be burnt and the altar is to be there to
facilitate that okay the the
measurements are there. Uh then verse 7,
chapter 30:7, it says, "Aaron shall burn
on it sweet incense every morning when
he tends the lamp." So Aaron goes in,
the priest goes in to tend to the lamp,
make sure the oil is there, and then
he'll burn incense on it. And when Aaron
lights the lamps at twilight, he shall
burn incense on it, a perpetual incense
before the Lord throughout your
generations. You shall not offer strange
incense on it or a burnt offering or a
grain offering um nor shall you pour a
drink offering on it. And Aaron shall
make atonement upon its horns um once a
year with the blood of the sin offering
of atonement. Once a year he shall make
atonement upon it throughout your
generations. It is most holy to the
Lord. Right?
Verse 17,
uh it talks about the bronze labor. I'm
just skipping those verses which talks
about the offering of money. This is the
ransom money. This is an offering which
is given there. um the bronze labor.
Then the Lord spoke to Moses saying,
"You shall make a labor of bronze with
its base also of bronze
and for washing you shall put it between
the tabernacle of meeting and the altar
you shall put water in it." So there is
the altar. Um now I'll just uh you know
for the sake of the online class I'll
just share um u the picture of it. I
think you would have already seen it in
many places. Um but I'll just share that
for the online class, right? Um
okay. Um
okay. Um just a minute. Sorry.
Okay. So,
we see that.
Yeah. Just a pictorial representation.
So, it has the lamp which has the um
there's a showbread
of course. I think it's much bigger than
what is represented here, right? And the
ark of the covenant. And you see the
curtain there. And then we see the altar
of incense, right? Um okay, I'll also
yeah put it on the upload it for
everyone to see. You can just go through
these pictures, right? Um so this is
something that we see just a bit for us
to understand. Uh it's well it may be
different uh in in ter it's not exact to
size the way it's mentioned here. Um so
just for us to understand right? Okay
then um
okay the entire layout I'll just share
that.
Okay. Um,
so who who are all uh online? Only
only you, Sukkesh.
You're also I mean sorry uh Raju,
Sukkesh and
last row you have. Okay. Okay. At least
each row has fine. Great. Okay. So this
I will um
you can you can see it here. No. So Au
has
okay. Okay. So um so we see this this is
the general uh layout which is there
right. Um so we see that that whole um
the is what what is like a compound wall
is actually the the curtains and those
those are the pillars which um to which
the curtains or or the you know the the
fabric is attached so that it falls it
is like a compound wall right then we
have the altar for the burnt offering
this is the bronze labor
Right. Altar for the burnt offering. So
as the entrance the gate which is there
uh which is from the east right. The
gate is there from the east. You're not
able to see.
Okay. Okay.
Okay.
Yeah. Okay.
Okay. So um so this is generally the
layout. I I think we of course we
studied it in the first semester but
just going through it so that we can um
you know just refresh our memories.
Okay. So the altar the labor then we
have the the actual tabernacle which has
a door which has the uh the manora.
Yeah. By the way, the the lamp is called
the manora um by the Jews and uh it's
the seven stock lamp, right? Uh the t
table of showbread, the altar of
incense. Then we have the veil that
separates the holy of holies, the most
holy place. And there we have the um ark
of the covenant, right?
Um
okay one more thing um
picture I just share about the ark of
the covenant.
Okay. So
again, an artist's u impression of the
ark of the covenant based on what we
read here in Exodus um yeah 20 27 28
right um
so we see the cherub the wing tips
touching and then you know everything
overlaid in gold. You see those poles
which are there going through the rings
and then you're supposed to carry the
ark uh on the shoulder of the priest
with these bowls. Right. Okay. Then um
okay I think the manora is there we have
seen. Okay. So this is basically u uh
what the lord instituted
uh in the when the to Moses from mount
si
right so we see we it's pretty elaborate
it's pretty detailed
and each aspect of the or each
furnishing
in in the tabernacle.
Uh it it represents something, right? It
represents something and it'll it'll be
good for us to study it, right? We see
right at the at the outside, we see the
gate, right? And uh well, we we know
that the Lord Jesus himself referred to
him himself as a door, right? or an
opening which leads to
which which allows us or enables us to
go inside. See the thing is the door or
the gate if you see it keeps things out
but also gives access right. Um if you
close it there is no access. If you open
it there is access but through the door
is what gives you access from one room
to another. From the hall into the
classroom the door gives you access.
Right? Similarly we see that you know in
the layout that we saw we see that the
the the whole compound the perimeter uh
uh the the which is mentioned there it
has a gate right so the gate you enter
in through that gate and we are reminded
of the words of the Lord Jesus John
chapter 14
the Lord Jesus referring to himself as
the door right many things he says you
know I am the good shepherd uh I am the
way the truth and the life. Um but if
you look at John chapter 14 and verse 6,
right?
Um this is, you know, I am the way, the
truth, and the life, right? Let's go
down
to
um
sorry, John chapter 10. John chapter 14
is where he says, "I am the way, the
truth, and the life." John chapter uh 10
is where um we see the Lord Jesus saying
that
I am the door right he let's just read
John chapter 10 verse one uh assuredly I
say to you he who does not enter the
sheepfold by the door but climbs up some
other way the same as a thief and a
robber but he who enters by the door is
the shepherd of the sheep okay so um
this is something that He's mentioning
and to him the doorkeeper opens and the
sheep hear his voice and he calls his
own sheep by name and leads them out
right and he he talks about this. Then
verse seven he says the Lord Jesus this
Jesus then Jesus said to them again most
assuredly I say to you verse seven I am
the door of the sheep. So the sheep
entering in into the sheepfold
is through that door and um if that door
is shut they cannot enter into the
sheepfold. So the lord is giving us a
picture of life into the sheepfold or
entry into his kingdom and that is only
through that door and only Jesus is that
door right. So he gives access for us
right. So one is the that the outer gate
right which is there and um uh and the
lord saying that if anyone enters by me
chapter 10:9
if anyone enters by me he will be saved
right if anyone enters by me he will be
saved and will go in and out and find
pasture. So saying the lord is saying
okay this entry into this life into the
presence everything is through me you
enter in through Jesus and Jesus alone
right. Uh similarly we see that the
altar okay the altar the bronze altar we
saw it was in the outer courts and it
was a place of sacrifice right and we
know that the greatest sacrifice was
made on the cross and so it's
representative of that right so we see
that the cross is the culmination or the
fulfillment of everything which the old
testament talks about in symbolic ways
right
so we saw Okay. The sacrifice was made
throughout but the Lord Jesus was one
final perfect sacrifice. That is why
there was no more need for the sacrifice
to continue. Right? And Hebrews itself
says that you know that person who comes
the the the priest who comes he needs to
sacrifice for for himself. He needs to
have cleansing for himself. And well
this sacrifice is an atonement right?
The Lord will cover the sin for a
season. But we need to do that again.
The person has to come and do that
again. But the permanent sacrifice or
the final sacrif sacrifice is the Lord
Jesus. Right? So uh the brazen altar
referring to the the whole sacrifice
that was made by the Lord on the cross
the shedding of blood everything. So for
the
in the old testament times right you
bring an animal and so the animal
actually represented the person's sins
right the sins of that person so so that
person would you know literally see that
hey that is supposed to be me or that is
it's supposed to be me right uh it's me
that is dying right it is supposed to be
me uh for my sins but this animal which
which is actually a substitute.
uh it is actually you know spiritually
or symbolically carrying my sins and so
it is offered as a sacrifice right and
so this you know this was a visual
picture for the person of this truth
right so while they may not have enter
uh you know understood completely okay
um that there will be that perfect
sacrifice one day they may not have
right well uh completely understood that
but they were looking for the Messiah
who would come and save them. And it was
there in scripture for those who read it
and who understood it. Uh understood the
law and the prophets uh maybe the
Pharisees, the scribes who had access to
scripture, who would study it and their
responsibility was to teach it to the
people, right? So well, they would
study, they would understand, and they
were looking forward to the Messiah who
would come and fulfill all those
prophetic scriptures. Right? So then we
when we look at the bra bronze labor or
the brazen um uh the labor bronze labor
which was there it is a vessel. It is a
vessel which has water right and so
there was a ritual cleansing that was
made. The person who would make the
sacrifice you know would cleanse would
clean himself with water from that u
from that labor from that vessel. Right?
So it was it was it referred to the work
of washing sanctification that was
required and um and now we know that you
know it is something that the lord does
for us know he sanctifies us it's both
ways right the lord sanctifies us and we
also live a life of sanctification right
live a life of sanctification which
means that it is a decision that we make
moment by moment right every day to live
a sanctified life, right? To live a life
that is set apart, right?
Then when it comes to the table of
showbread which was inside, now you know
we are moving inside. We see this table
of showbread.
The Lord Jesus himself referred to
himself as the bread of life. Right? If
you look at um John chapter 6,
John chapter 6 verse35, I am the bread
of life. He who comes to me shall never
hunger. He who believes in me shall
never thirst. Okay? So he was obvious
obviously talking about a spiritual
hunger, right? He was not talking about
natural hunger, spiritual hunger. So he
said, "Okay,
I'm the bread that satisfies,
right? I am that sustenance or that
bread of life. So one who comes and
partakes, one who comes and receives and
takes it, he is never going to be hungry
or thirsty. He's talking about spiritual
hunger. Then he says, I am the bread
that has come down from heaven. Right?
I'm the heavenly bread. If you look at
uh verse 33, for the bread of God is he
who comes down from heaven and gives
life to the world. Right? So he's
referring to himself as bread from
heaven. Verse 32 says, I am the I give
you the true bread. My father gives you
the true bread from heaven. Okay. So uh
the Lord Jesus referred to himself and
that symbol is actually in the
tabernacle. the showbread which is there
in the tabernacle which is symbolic of
the the bread which would come much many
years later the living bread or the
bread from heaven. Right? So they say
that uh that every seventh day every
Sabbath fresh loaves were to be placed
there and uh the priests could actually
eat the the loaves which were not fresh.
uh they they had to stand there and then
eat it and then the fresh loaves would
be uh replaced the old loaves, right? Um
they also say that frankincense which
was one of the uh uh you know uh one one
of the um
uh one of the ingredients right which
was used there sometimes for the incense
also that was sprinkled on the bread and
it actually gave it a bitter taste right
that also significant of you know the
one who wants to live by the word of God
or wants to live justly will suffer
persecution. and and so on.
Right?
So then we see uh that uh the showbread
is there but we also see the lampstand.
Okay. So the thing is that in that
section in that compartment of the
tabernacle which is entirely covered
right there is no light except from the
lamp. Right? There is no outside light
coming in and the only light only
illumination that is there in that
section
is the light that comes from this seven
uh headed or seven shafted lamp right.
So the thing you know everything is
symbolic the the olive oil symbolic of
the life that is given by the Holy
Spirit. The lamp
illumination that the Holy Spirit
brings. Right? The spirit of God is
called the spirit of revelation and
wisdom. Right? So what does the lamp
light from the lamp actually reveal?
It it actually dispels the darkness.
Right? And it enables the priest to look
around and see. Enables the priest to
see. And when the when the priest sees
just opposite of that uh place where the
lamp is is the table with the bread,
right? And the bread again the word of
God, the living word which sustains us.
So we see that from the revelation of
the from the light of the lamp, the
bread is there. From the revelation of
the Holy Spirit, the light that the Holy
Spirit brings to us, we actually
understand the word of God and we
receive the word of God. Right? You see
that you know whole that the whole
aspect of revelation of the Holy Spirit,
the presence of the Holy Spirit, the
illumination uh of the Holy Spirit and
the word of God, that connection between
the Holy Spirit and the revelation of
the word of God, everything is there in
that holy place itself. Right? Just
mentioned there holy place. Then we also
saw the um the altar of incense. Now the
altar of incense uh it was offered
morning and evening twice and every time
the priest came to you know trim the
wick and to fill the oil um it was it
was there and um it referred to certain
things. We see that uh that that the
incense itself was a combination of
certain you know it says that we cannot
identify the um ingredients today right
it is uh it is not really mentioned very
clearly um let's look at that verse
Exodus 30 and 34-38
okay Exodus 30:34
and the Lord said to Moses
Take sweet spices
and some spices are mentioned. They're
stacked and onicha and galbanum and pure
frankincense
with these sweet sweet spices. There
shall be equal amounts of each. You
shall make of these an incense, a
compound according to the art of the
perfumer, salted, pure, and holy.
And you shall beat some of it very fine,
which means powder it, right? and put
some of it before the testimony in the
tabernacle of meeting where I will meet
with you, it shall be most holy to you.
But as for the incense which shall which
you shall make, you shall not make any
for yourselves according to its
competition, sorry composition, it shall
be to you holy for the Lord. So the
thing is Lord is saying okay this
combination of all these spices and this
mixture that you're making and he's
listed some names there uh stacked and
galbinum and and so on. So this you
shall not make for your use. You know
maybe if you want to come and make it
and sell it or give it elsewhere, you
know, you shall not make for yourself.
It shall be only for this purpose unto
the Lord. Right? So that is what it says
here. And whoever shall make any like it
or smell it, he shall be cut off from
the Lord. So which means that the lord
was very serious about it and he says
okay the sh be only used there um as as
an offering it which is used there
right. So the thing is that what did it
actually represent and why was this
important? It actually represented the
prayers of the priest on behalf of the
people. The several needs there, the
challenges there. So when you're paying
on behalf of someone, what do we call
it? We call it intercession, right? So
it is the prayers, the intercession um
which symbolically, you know, just offer
it there. It just goes before the lord
and it it actually refers to that right
the altar of incense it is talking about
intercession. So uh let's look at the
two other places where we see that uh
incense being referred to as prayers and
intercessions. Right? So,
um,
let's look at numbers.
Number 16.
Okay. Um, 41, right? It says that on the
next day all the congregation of the
children of Israel complained against
Moses and Aaron saying you have killed
the people of the Lord. Now it happened
when the congregation had turned against
Moses and Aaron. They turned towards the
tabernacle of meet meeting and suddenly
the cloud appeared. The glory of the
Lord appeared. Cloud covered it. The
Lord glory of the Lord appeared. Then
Moses and Aaron came before the
tabernacle of meeting. And the Lord
spoke to Moses, saying, "Get away from
among this congregation that I may
consume them in a moment." And they fell
on their faces. So Moses said to Aaron,
"Take a sensor and put fire in it from
the altar and put incense on it and take
it quickly to the congregation and make
atonement for them." Right? So this is
symbolic of prayer, intercession to save
the the people. The Lord was angry. The
Lord was bringing judgment. He wanted to
you know u kill them all. Right? And um
if you read before that uh the the
chapters that is chapter 16. We see
about um we read about the rebellion
like the sons of Kora and Kora and his
sons and how you know there was
rebellion against the um you know the uh
against the the people against uh Aaron
and Moses right so we see that so um
yeah so so we see that this this is
representative of prayers going up right
and also we see in the book of
revelation, right? The revelation also
talks about the the incense going before
the Lord, before the throne of God, um
the prayers of the saints, right? Um
okay,
let's um when we read from the throne
room,
we read about uh the living creatures,
we read about um the you know the
elders, right?
Um
and we also read about the incense uh
which is in chapter 5 and verse 8. Okay.
Chapter four we read about the you know
the grandness of the throne room and he
was uh the elders are bowing down before
the throne worshiping him who lives
forever and all that. and uh chapter 5
right verse 8. Now when he had taken the
scroll the four living creatures and the
24 elders fell down before the lamb each
having a harp and golden bowls full of
incense
which are the prayers of the saints.
Right? So the incense being offered um
representative of the prayers of the
saints right. So, so we see that you
know this incense is symbolic of that
and right at the tabernacle you know
this is in the beginning right u the
exodus of Israel out of Egypt and they
are moving towards pro uh you know
towards the land of promise uh we see
that that is being offered and we see
that we make this connection right this
is the prayers of the saints right the
incense that is being offered before the
lord Okay. So um so we see this this
elaborate
detailed
manner in which
the lord would meet or encounter the
people. Okay. So we know that you see
once a year the high priest would go to
the holy of holies the most holy place
right and he would go with the blood
that was offered. He would go with the
blood um offering and uh he would go
there and place that blood on that horn
which was there on the um the the ark of
the covenant, right? And the Lord would
meet with the the high priest in the
holy of holies, right? Above the mercy
seat and he would speak, give
instructions, etc.
So there there was nothing to be done,
right? There was nothing else to be done
by the priest, right? He just had it had
to go and I'm sorry, the blood was
actually offered on the the horns of the
the altar of the incense, right? Um not
inside the holy of holies, not the ark
of the covenant, but uh the in the in
the before the veil. So once he goes
through the veil to the holy of holies
there was nothing to be done right and
that is also a picture of the grace of
God right. So while in the outer courts
everything you know you man was trying
to do uh and u but in the holy of holies
uh in the most holy place there was
nothing that man could do but everything
that god would right god would speak the
priest would experience the presence of
god and of course we we know that they
would tie the leg of the priest in a in
a rope because in case he did something
inappropriate
and sinful. You know, the the presence
of God was so powerful and so uh you
know, it was like consuming fire. So, he
would be struck down and they would they
of course did not want to go in there
themselves. So, they would actually pull
the priest out, right, through the rope.
So, such was the presence of God,
powerful, dangerous, right? But we see
that in the New Testament times when we
read the book of Hebrews, we see that we
have been given access to this very
presence. To the to the very presence,
right? Um Hebrews chapter 4.
Hebrews chapter 4:14. Seeing then that
we have a great high priest who has
passed through the heavens, Jesus the
son of God, let us hold fast our
confession. For we do not have a high
priest who cannot sympathize with our
weaknesses, but was in all points
tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let
us therefore come boldly to the throne
of grace that we may obtain mercy and
find grace to help in time of need. So
he's talking about the high priest. is
talking about the fact that we can come
boldly to the um to the throne in order
to receive grace and receive mercy.
Right? If you look at um chapter 10,
right? Acts chapter 10 verse 19.
Sorry, not not Acts chapter 10. Hebrews
chapter 10. Hebrews chapter 10 19.
Sorry.
Okay.
Hebrews 10:19. Therefore, brethren,
having boldness to enter the holiest by
the blood of Jesus. Okay. So, it says
here, you know, how do we have boldness?
How do we have the permission? How do we
have access to go to the holiest place?
It is by the blood of Jesus. Verse 20,
by a new and living way which he
consecrated for us through the veil that
is the flesh. Okay. So we see that parts
of the tabernacle are actually mentioned
here in a believer's access to the Lord,
right? Access to the presence of God. So
we see here having boldness to enter the
holiest by the blood of Jesus. The
holiest referring to the holy of holies
um and it's a place that you enter. The
high priest only could enter and he
could go after doing all the you know
the sacrifice and carrying the blood and
so on. So it says they're having a high
priest um sorry by a new living way
which he consecrated for us through the
veil and of course that was a veil which
was separating the holy place and the
most holy place. Now from the holy place
going through the whale he's saying we
have a the new and living way which the
Jes the lord Jesus has made for us that
is through his own flesh right through
his own sacrifice he has made a way for
us to go through the veil verse 12 let
us draw near with a true heart in full
assurance of faith having our hearts
sprinkled from an evil conscience and
our bodies washed with pure water. Okay.
So, so we see that the significance of
the tabernacle
in actually entering into the presence
of God, having an encounter with the
presence of God.
And not everyone was privileged to have
the encounter with the presence of God.
Not everyone was privileged. Even in the
mount of Mount Si, it was Moses who
would was given that permission and the
access. In the tabernacle, it was the
high priest who has given the permission
and access. And here in the book of
Hebrews, it it talks about what happened
uh because of the cross which was again,
you know, the whole tabernacle was
actually talking about right the sac
right from the sacrifice to the axes,
the whole tabernacle was actually
proclaiming that and because of that we
as believers, we have access to the
holiest. Right? So uh God is a holy God
and you know all this the Lord has
actually laid down so that we understand
you know each and every aspect of the
tabernacle being relevant to us today.
Right? We see that in the in the uh Old
Testament it says that whatever things
were written before were written for our
learning. Our learning in these new
testament times they were written for
our either for our warnings or something
that we can learn and get an
understanding of it was written for us.
So, so what is that part which is
written for us? What is that meaning
that we take? One is the access the
sacrifice of the Lord Jesus giving us
access to the you know very presence of
God the holiest of holies. It also talks
about the work of the Holy Spirit in
illuminating the word of God for us
which is like our daily bread, food for
us, right? And so the Lord Jesus he he
says man shall not dwell by bread alone
but by every word. So that word
illumination of that word which is like
food for the believer
is by you know is by the illumination or
the illuminating work of the holy spirit
right so we see that connection also um
which is symbolically represented here
in the tabernacle
okay okay so we'll stop here and next
class if there are any questions based
on the tabernacle we'll uh we'll start
with that right Okay, thank you and God
bless.
