The situation became so untenable that the creator admitted he neglected his YouTube channel significantly because he would arrive home from work only to sweat immediately upon entering the hot, humid studio.
Ultimately, the landlord agreed to let the creator walk away from the lease without penalty, acknowledging that the environment was not worth continuing in. While the creator is proud of the track setup, including the new Light Make L4 camera, the timing boards, and the dedicated pit space for racers and children, he recognizes that they cannot thrive in such conditions. He plans to find a new location within the next few weeks to restart his video production schedule and provide a proper climate-controlled environment for his community. It's happening again, and I am
definitely not happy about it. I did a
video a few months ago about moving and
bringing the studio here and the
racetrack that we have to a new building
into a new office. And we definitely did
that. I was super excited. I was ready
to go, a new office space, a brand new
space for the track that was much
larger, could fit more people. The
location is amazing where we are in
town. But now we have to do it again,
and I am definitely not happy about
that. I was planning on coming in here
and setting up and like restarting this
channel with more videos and all of that
stuff like we talked about in the last
one. Instead, I've been literally
non-stop battling here with with the
building owners and finally come to a
head. You know, not to bury the lead,
but I have to be out by the end of
September. That's 1 month, and I don't
have a lease for a new place yet.
>> [laughter]
>> So, there's that. But basically, the
deal is we moved in here. We moved it
the the studio. I got mostly set up in
here. the track in. We've been running
the track since April in here. When we
first came in, it was pretty warm in
here. They still had the heat on. I
mean, it's April in Wisconsin. You never
know what's going to happen, so it's
totally understandable. I had to like
figure out how to turn it all off
because this building is very old and it
was hydronic heat, you know, the
the water or the coolant in the pipes
that, you know, heats the registers and
uses convection to heat the room. At
least I think that's how it works.
>> [laughter]
>> Correct me below if I'm wrong. We
figured out how to turn off all of those
valves and and turn that off because it
was getting pretty hot in here. It was a
little bit crazy, but it wasn't too bad.
It was April. We understood the heat was
on. The challenge is that I'm in an
office building on the second floor, and
none of the windows stay They didn't
want the windows open. None of the
windows open. So, when we got hot, that
was it. There was nowhere nowhere for
the heat to go, and I couldn't open a
window. So, that was the start of
everything. Then what happened in next
was they shut that off in May, which is
great because then we didn't have to
deal with it. And it was okay in here.
You think that they would turn the air
conditioning unit on. This again is a
very old building, I get it. I started
coming in here and doing our thing. For
about a month we were okay and it was a
lot of fun. We I got this set up in here
and I'll show you that in a second. Like
I said, racing was really good and I
know we were going into summer, so I
knew, you know, with the air
conditioning here it was going to be
great. We we had a a great place with
air conditioning. It was bigger. It
wasn't going to be hot anymore, at least
I thought.

>> But little did I know that I would be
battling the whole summer and the
racetrack significantly suffer because
of it. They did turn the air
conditioning on and
like middle of May or June or whatever
they got the unit running. There was
circulation. It was okay in the office,
but the challenge I realized quickly
towards the end of May is that the air
conditioning the air in here the whole
circulation and everything would just
shut off at like 5:30 or 6:00 p.m.
during the week and it was never on on
Sundays. And those, you know, we race at
the track on nights and weekends. And
when we were here there was there was no
circulation. There was no air movement.
There was no air conditioning. Starting
the beginning of the June I started
reporting that and complaining about it.
Unfortunately, nothing was done all
summer. That's the bottom line. I was
battling and being told that it was
being worked on and someone was looking
into it. They were going to have someone
fix something and all of a sudden like,
you know, a month and a half later in
the end of July, beginning of August,
there's a computer broken and nothing
works. So, I took my time and resources
and fixed that computer and got it back
up. I got them signed into it. Passwords
were set so they could get into this
computer and now all of a sudden no one
has no one knows how to run it. No one
knows how to get into the to the app or
software or whatever it is that controls
the very old air handler on the
building. It's just been a literal
battle all summer and it's just it's
just not been great. So, we're talking
like 78, 80, 85° in here with humidity
like 70 or 75%, which is really bad for
computer equipment and printers and
filament. Just just everything in
general, it's been kind of rough. In the
end of June, somehow we got one of the
windows open and we put a floor standing
unit in it. Thanks so much to Sticks. Uh
he he had an extra floor standing air
conditioner. We put it in the window and
that was doing an okay job trying to
cool it off when we weren't here, so it
was cooler when we got here. But, by the
time you come in here and you get, you
know, 10 people and all the lights and
all, you know, battery chargers and
stuff like that for our cars, everything
on, it started getting hot. Because we
got one window open, I actually got a
big window air conditioner and threw it
in there and tried to take the edge off
that way, which was a bit better, but
could not keep up when we were all here.
I mean, it took the edge off, but never
really got it cold enough in here to be
very comfortable the whole time we were
here. I put a big dehumidifier in here.
I did that in June and we got the bigger
window unit in here. And where we're at
today is that I we met with an HVAC
person. Uh the building finally got that
arranged. They said they could put like
a timer, like a 3-hour timer to get
everything turned on somehow. But, the
problem is it wasn't going to fix the
humidity. They don't know what's causing
the high humidity in this building and
it wasn't going to fix that. It would
give us circulation while we were here,
which is great, but during the day uh
when that circulation is on, if I have
the window unit off, we're still at like
72 with all the lights off, nothing
running, no one in here, but like 65%
humidity and I that's just too high with
everything running. I pretty much talked
to the owner and uh we're going to just
part ways at the end of September. It
just wasn't worth it. Um
so, you know, to the credit of the
landlord, I guess, basically he said
just you can walk away from your lease
and we'll just call it a day and he
apologized and uh there's not much we
can do. but that brings us to the
YouTube channel. I have been so busy
dealing with that, trying to keep people
happy in the other room that I really
neglected this again. And mostly it's
because when I come in here, if it's
after hours, I get off work and I go
home and I change and I hang out with
the the family for a little while and I
come over here. It is so hot and humid
in here that I just start sweating. That
is why the videos have significantly not
been there. I mean, I I have not made a
ton of videos over the whole summer.
I've just been battling that. It's time
to change that. And hopefully you guys
can hang in there with me because I
really think I'm hoping that this can
turn things around for the rest of this
year and starting into next year. So

out. Unfortunately, it's all got to be
torn down now, which really sucks, but

the track looks like currently. and then

This is pretty tight. Um you can see
this is the the backdrop here that I use
all the time. If you look straight
ahead, I have a whole bunch of uh like
like storage things and racks and some
lasers.
And uh this monster right here, that's
the Light Make L4. Going to be doing a
video on that pretty quick here. Just
got it, and super excited to check that
thing out. This is,
you know, where we do
uh sit-down stuff, my desk, hot mics,
that kind of thing. And of course, um my
camera
and prompter
when I use it.

>> And this kind of gives you
the look of where my camera is. Now, I
do have lights mounted up top on the
ceiling like that. Cuz I got filament
like literally everywhere, just on racks
and
um hanging out because I really didn't
have anywhere better to put it at this
time. This is the Mini-Z track. Um you
can see that the track is right over
here,
and we have a really good, nice uh
larger track than we've ever had before.
Uh we have a board for records, and we
have 220-in
projector screens with uh well,
projectors up top there like that that
shows the timing and schedules and
everything we want to do. One of the
things about RC racing is you got to
have a lot of table space for people to
sit and work on their cars, and that's
what this is. So, this is all
pit space here. The window unit I'm
talking about is right there. We got
that open. We have TVs kind of all
around, so we can look at the schedule
and races, and of course, we got some
fridges on this side of the room. Uh we
have the kids' corner, we call it. So,
we have a little crawler track that's
being reassembled, and the video's
coming soon on that. It's called
Crawligon. Really cool stuff.
And of course, where the kids can kind
of hang out and play some video games
and their their Matchbox or Hot Wheels
cars. If we spin around this way,
we get the control PC for the whole
track.
The ladder's here just because I'm
actually developing a new app and you
can see the camera hanging from the
ceiling right here, but it's an app that
actually tracks our cars, watches the
lines they drive on the track and will
help us improve those lines when we're
driving forward. You can see right now,
this is a good example of what's going
on. I just turned the lights on in here.

And
that is just I mean oh, it just went to
73 cuz I picked it up, but and that's
just been sitting here next to the
computer, which is not great, right?
Some of the printers that I've been
using on a normal basis, some of the big
projects I need to print I haven't even
done yet because
I really have been battling here and I
just didn't want to get into a big
project and be miserable here, to be
honest. So, there you go. That was a
quick tour of the current / soon-to-be
old studio and track space. I'm really
proud of how the track and everything is
turning out out there. We have such a
great group of people that come here and
race and help each other and have fun.
And the kids race and they have fun and
I just love that, but we need a place
that provides the right climate and
environment that we can thrive in here
and not just just scrape to get by or or
barely get by because we lose so much
business. So, hopefully I'll find a
place here in the next couple weeks and
we'll get in there. I'll keep y'all
