What You Can Do When You Don't Feel Good Enough For Anyone! | Sister 2 Sister
Watch on YouTubeVideo summary
The video addresses a common struggle where individuals feel they are never good enough for their families, jobs, or even God, leading to exhaustion and a sense of inadequacy. The speakers identify this feeling as a potential breakthrough point, noting that many people mistakenly believe they must earn salvation or sustain it through their own efforts rather than relying on grace through faith. They remind viewers that while we may have been saved by faith, we often forget to live by it daily, causing us to spin our wheels and lose sight of what has eternal purpose. The discussion highlights the importance of understanding that life is short and requires wisdom to distinguish between tasks that matter and those that are merely distractions.
To combat feelings of exhaustion and self-doubt, the speakers suggest shifting focus from consuming negative influences like social media or endless television to "eating the scroll," which represents immersing oneself in the Bible. They explain that just as the prophet Ezekiel found the word of God sweet like honey, engaging with scripture reveals that our identity is not rooted in our own performance but in Jesus, who is truly good enough. The conversation also touches on the danger of comparison, where seeing others manage their lives perfectly can make one feel foolish and inadequate. Instead of trying to measure up to unrealistic standards, the message encourages finding one's true identity in Christ, which brings freedom from the need to prove worthiness through constant striving.
When discipline becomes difficult or when life enters rough seasons, such as the loss of a loved one, the speakers propose alternative ways to connect with God that do not rely on rigid routines. They share a personal testimony about how silence became a powerful strategy during a time of grief, allowing them to hear God's voice without the pressure of structured worship or study. This approach emphasizes that God is creative and can use various methods to impart His presence, whether through traditional spiritual disciplines or moments of quiet stillness. By remaining open to these different forms of connection, individuals can maintain their faith even when they feel unable to commit to a specific amount of time for prayer or reading.
Finally, the video concludes with a practical application for those who are burned out: resting in God's provision just as Jesus rested and God rested after creation. The speakers argue that rest is not merely a suggestion but a divine mandate, and failing to rest often indicates a lack of trust that God can handle life's burdens. When we have faith in the Lord, we can surrender our worries and responsibilities to Him, allowing ourselves to rest easy without guilt. This perspective transforms exhaustion from a sign of failure into an invitation to trust God more deeply, reminding viewers that they do not need to carry everything alone but can find peace by giving their burdens to Him.

You wrote, "I'm exhausted." [laughter]
We could identify. I never feel good
enough. Not for my kids, not for my
husband, not for my job, not for my
family, not for God. I don't know what
to do. Roxy, help her.
>> I think she is at the precipice of a
breakthrough.
>> Oh,
>> we're we're never good enough to be
saved.
>> Okay.
>> And we are never good enough to sustain
our salvation. We are saved by grace
through faith. Ephesians 2, but we
forget. We might have been saved by
faith. We forget to live by faith. So,
Romans 1 says that the righteous shall
live by faith. What does that mean?
Well, there's wisdom in this. Psalm 90
Moses was uh Moses's prayer. Lord, teach
me to number our my days that I may
present to you a heart of wisdom.
understand that this life is short.
There's eternal purpose with practical
means. So what did Moses do? He's all
day. He's judging, judging, judging
about they estimate two million people.
>> That's right.
>> And Jethro, his father-in-law, sometimes
our relatives have the right word or
friends
>> divided up among righteous people to
judge. Sometimes you have to delegate
your work. Sometimes you have to decide
what's of eternal purpose that makes a
difference and when am I spinning my
wheels.
>> Okay. What do you have?
>> Well, I would like to give the wisdom of
an 18-year-old boy in this answer
because [laughter] our son Judah has
brought a scripture to our attention and
it has affected our family and it's
starting to affect our church family and
I think it applies so much with this
question. I'm exhausted. I don't feel
good enough. I'm not good enough for my
husband. I mean, you can I'm not good
enough for my friends, my job. And then
all of a sudden, where is life? Well, in
Ezekiel 3 1-3, several times, son of
man, eat the scroll. Verse three, then
he said to me, "Son of man, eat this
scroll that I am giving you and fill
your stomach with it." So I ate it and
it tasted as sweet as honey in my mouth.
So maybe instead of eating social media,
eating the magazine, eating the books,
eating the the daytime television,
eating YouTube, maybe we eat the scroll
and we find out that the scroll, it's
not like am I good enough? It's was
Jesus good enough? Oh yeah, Jesus was
good enough and I live and move and have
my being in him. So you find out who you
really are in the scroll.
>> I like that. So you like that? I really
like that. [applause]
>> Yeah.
>> Open your Bible. Come on.
>> You know, I really think she's probably
too focused on self but does is not
aware of it.
>> The lady that wrote to us. Yes.
>> And I think that all of us at some point
in our lives can relate to it. Um, if
you were a mother and you seen someone
else to seem to really be able to keep
the house up and have the kids in
involved and out, you know, outside
activity, extracurricular activity, and
they seem to really have it together,
then you kind of start comparing
yourself, which the word of God tells
us, what about comparison?
>> We become that's right. Become foolish.
And so, some of our response is foolish.
I think she did a great job of reminding
us that our identity is found in Christ.
But you know let's face it sometimes
when we are dealing with things um
unfortunately sometimes our discipline
with staying in the word
>> gets a little challenged um so what I
have found uh that to be very helpful
though I am firmly uh in agreement with
spiritual disciplines and being in the
word of God and having worship music on
creating a presence that you can soak in
and have the impartation of the Holy
Spirit. But you must be open to the
creativity of God for how to do that for
you. you may not be able to be
disciplined enough to have a half an
hour to sit with the word and um Oswwell
Chambers let's say you know um but you
can sometimes you know I went through a
season a rough period you guys know that
my husband passed and you know in that
time is as much as I believe in prayer
and all of that do you know what my
soloulless was in that time the strategy
God used for me was silence
>> to just sit silently
And in his presence, I was in that
silence. And in that silence, I could
hear him speak.
>> That's so good.
>> Cy, are you exhausted?
>> Uh, yes. [laughter]
>> When you're exhausted, look at the
example WWJD. What did Jesus do when he
was exhausted? He rested. What did God
do after he created for six days? On the
seventh day, he rested. Resting is
>> a mandate from the Lord. And when we
don't do that, we are not having faith.
We're not trusting that God can handle
it. When we have faith in the Lord, we
can give it to him and we can rest easy
in that.
