Video summary
The video discusses the critical need for thoughtful class design in an upcoming "Classic Plus" version of World of Warcraft, emphasizing that while changes are inevitable, they must adhere to the core principles that made Vanilla WoW beloved. The speaker argues against simply retuning classes to be perfectly balanced at level 60 without considering the leveling experience or the joy of discovering new playstyles. Instead, the focus should be on supporting underdeveloped builds, such as Shock Paladins or hybrid tanking strategies, rather than forcing players into a single hyper-optimized spec. This approach ensures that the game remains about playing the class itself, with synergies between talents and specs, rather than just focusing on one dominant build like in retail versions of the game.
A significant portion of the discussion centers on specific rework ideas for Paladins, particularly regarding the Protection tree and the iconic Crusader Strike ability. The speaker critiques proposals that would make Crusader Strike a baseline talent or place it too high in the tree, arguing that this could break the leveling curve and remove the strategic depth of choosing between Holy, Retribution, and Protection paths. He suggests that Crusader Strike should remain a later-tier talent but potentially be reworked to deal Holy damage, which would synergize with Righteous Fury and allow Paladins to generate threat more proactively. This change would enable new creative builds, such as a melee-focused tanking style, without making the ability feel like a boring auto-attack button that dominates every encounter.
Beyond Paladin mechanics, the video touches on broader design philosophies, including the necessity of tuning down overpowered classes like Warriors to maintain balance across the roster. The speaker notes that while Warriors have historically been dominant due to their versatility and gear scaling, they should be slightly nerfed in Classic Plus to ensure a more diverse meta where other classes can shine. He also addresses the importance of not introducing internal cooldowns or mechanics that feel out of place for a classic experience, preferring instead to tweak existing abilities like Repentance or Consecration to fit the Vanilla aesthetic while adding necessary utility. The ultimate goal is to create an environment where players feel empowered to experiment with different roles and builds, preserving the spirit of exploration that defined the original game.
In conclusion, the speaker views the Classic Plus project as a unique opportunity to blend the nostalgia of Vanilla WoW with modern quality-of-life improvements without sacrificing the game's soul. He encourages the community to engage in these discussions before major announcements at events like BlizzCon, offering his channel as a hub for unbiased reactions and deep dives into potential changes. The video ends with an invitation for fans to join a free community event celebrating ten years of streaming and the enduring passion for World of Warcraft, reinforcing that the game's future should be shaped by player creativity and a shared love for the classic experience rather than rigid optimization or fear of change.

This is an old post on Reddit. It's a
It's a few months old. I got it linked
to me. It's like, "Esfan, what do you
think about these ideas?" Obviously, I
I'm a big big staunch believer in the
meat of the game, in the meat of classic
WoW. Well, I mean, any any sort of MMO,
right? Class design. Class design is
unbelievably important. Uh you you need
to make sure that the class design is
good for if they do a classic plus, if
they're doing WoW 2, whatever whatever
it's called. All the leaks are changing.
All you know, it's They changed the name
to WoW 2. Are they Are they doing WoW 2?
Are they doing classic minus? Are they
going back in time? Are they going
forward Nobody really knows exactly what
they're doing. There's a lot of talk
about what is probably going to be
changed from what [music] we're used to
in vanilla WoW. Now, I've talked about
this a lot where I do think that they
should be making some stuff changed,
right? They should be changed
It's a magnet in my hair. Why is there a
magnet in my hair?
I do think there should be some stuff
that changed, but it needs to be changed
in the same direction as vanilla WoW.
Having those same sort of like classic
WoW design principles, I think are
really really important because, hey,
[music] that's what made people like
this game. The way the game was designed
and kind of keeping those principles
intact. There's some key elements to
this. One, I think you need to maintain
the current play style of the classes.
So that, hey, if I associate with a
certain class, be it a rogue, a warrior,
a mage, a paladin, a druid, whatever it
is, if I play that class a certain way,
I should still be able to play that
class [music] a certain way. But, I
don't have to play that class a certain
way. And I think that every class has
some little things about it that were a
little bit underdeveloped, some ways to
play the class, some ways to play the
game that were not necessarily super
fleshed out in vanilla. And I think that
you need to take This is step two. You
need to take those kind of
underdeveloped, those under-serviced
play styles [music] and support them a
little bit more. Paladin, for example,
if I want to be a If I want to play
shockadin, let's find some ways to to
tweak some things, to move some talents
around, or whatever, in order to kind of
support shockadin a little bit more. A
prot paladin, right? You know, being
able to have some cool downs. That's one
of the big problems with paladin, they
have no like sort of like oh crap
buttons. There's no taunt.
And Burning Crusade, I I actually love
how Righteous Defense works. It's super,
super fun. I don't know if that means
add a Righteous Defense or do this or
that, but if they were to add a taunt, I
would like to see them just add
Righteous Defense cuz I just like how
that works so well. But maybe that's not
the right solution. Anyway, I kind of
have my own idea for how like the
Paladin should be built in Classic Plus.
But before I do that, let's see this.
This is an old forum post and I think
this is interesting because they talk
about a lot of things. I haven't really
gone into it. Just like the way that
it's formatted and it appeals to my
eyes. Let's see it. Classic Plus Paladin
rework ideas. I mostly play Prot or Ret
as Paladins. Almighty is the best around
these two specs. Cool. This is how he
drew his talent trees. Summary of my
changes. Holy, not a lot of changes.
Moved Consecrate off the Holy tree and
replaced it with Kings. Interesting.
Justification is that buffs are more
associated with healing and Prot values
are going to be buffing Salve anyway.
Funny. Okay. Immediately disagrees. I
think Consecration should be baseline in
Classic Plus. The goal for my Prot
changes isn't to compete with Warriors
for raid tanking, but to make AoE and
dungeon tanking more enjoyable. The main
way to do that in my opinion is to
resolve mana issues or for Paladin tanks
and increase chance to get spell power
from gear. Move Precision off the Prot
tree and into Ret. Rework plus two
talents to 5% hit. And they put
Deflection in Prot. I can already tell
you from the way that they designed
this, from the way that they from the
way that they did their talent tree, too
hyper-optimized. Cuz one of the big
things with Classic WoW is you play the
class, not the spec. There's synergies
uh that you have going into other builds
and you need to pick some stuff up along
the way to get deeper in the tree and
some things that are that are useful for
you. Something like a Blessing of Kings
that a buff that is that is useful for
everybody is good in the Protection tree
because a Protection tree also ends up
working as like a utility tree for
Paladin, right? So like something like
Precision being in the Prot tree is is
good because it gives you a talent to
get to climb down the tree. This
improved Blessing of Freedom, improved
Blessing of Protection, I forgot what
it's called exactly, but the improved,
you use that as Ret and Holy to climb
down. I feel like in general, it's going
to be too optimized where you're like
just playing the spec and not the class.
I hate when it's just like put all your
points in Ret or whatever. Yeah,
exactly. Like you need those synergies
because that's really the the essence of
what the game is. It's It's This isn't
like retail cuz the retail style is
where you you kind of focus on one and
that's fine, but that's not really what
this this style of game is about. Move
Precision uh Swap it with Deflection.
Deflection is obviously more
prot-oriented and weapon hits aren't the
main way to generate threat as a
paladin. Deflection is more
prot-oriented. Yeah, maybe because it's
like you're getting targeted and you
compare you get parry haste to do attack
faster. You You generate threat. You
also mitigate damage, but also
Deflection is a talent for PvP.
Warriors, rogues, right? A hunter is
hitting you with a with a weapon.
Something like that, right? Deflection
is a very important talent for PvP, you
know, with the logic that I said
earlier. Okay, yeah, you could use that
to climb down the tree in protection if
you wanted to. It's not like again, it's
it's too much of a hyper-optimization. I
don't want to harp on that point too
much because I think we're going to see
that a lot with this sort of this sort
of build for Classic Plus from this guy.
Move Swap Places with Kings. Consecrate
should have been a prot ability from the
get-go. It's prot paladin bread and
butter. I still think it should be a
talent though, not baseline.
>> See, I think it should be baseline
because it's just good for every every
spec. I don't think it's a strong enough
ability in order to take like a a
tentpole like flagship like 11 21 31
point. It makes sense for it to be
baseline. Swapped One-Handed Weapon
Spec. And here's another thing. Let's
say you're leveling. If you're If you're
leveling as a paladin as holy, now you
don't even have this in the tree and
you're you're reducing a lot of the the
damage output that you can do and a lot
of your leveling ability because now you
have Blessing of Kings instead of
Consecrate. And that's one thing to look
at, I think, while designing talent
trees. A lot of times we look at the
talent trees at level 60. I'm guilty of
this as well, but what you need to think
about is you also need to consider like
the leveling process and what that means
at different leveling breakpoints. The
end game balance is really what matters
is the most. You also need to consider
the experience of being able to play the
game with the different specs leveling
in different ways. Swapped One-Handed
Weapon Spec with Improved Concentration
Aura Reworked. Rework One-Handed Weapon
Spec to the TBC version. Increase all
damage when using one-hand shield up to
5% instead of increasing weapon damage
up to 10%. I think that would would
fine. Instead of previously prot
paladins didn't care much for weapon
damage, true. Moved to eye for an eye
off ret and onto prot in place of
reckoning.
Uh,
that's a bad move. Eye for an eye,
again, this is this is kind of like in
that same scope that I was talking about
earlier from the from the design of just
trying to hyper optimize it. First off,
ideally you're not getting crit, right?
Especially not by a spell. But I guess
they're doing a rework. Convert 135%
spell damage to damage received to mana.
5% spell damage reduction converted to
mana.
I feel like a talent is very rarely
used, maybe only for PvP. And outside of
no taunt ability, the main issue that
prot paladins face with at least while
leveling is mana. Yeah, I don't think
you do that. I don't think you get rid
of this because eye for an eye was added
in the 1.9 patch higher up in the ret
tree as like a PvP talent. And I do
think this I think that if you take
reckoning rework gives a 10 40 60 80
100% chance to gain an extra attack
after landing a critical hit.
This would be so broken. Even the
>> [laughter]
>> even the original version of reckoning,
this would be so overpowered. This would
be insanely overpowered with this one,
too. Cuz like if you were to be able to
put reckoning in the ret tree, I think
it's too much. Cuz like one of the
things with with the reckoning paladin
so I you lose talent points. You give
some stuff up in order to have
reckoning. That's kind of the point. You
take like a you take a hit from going
deep ret in order to be able to get some
stuff to get the talents in protection
to be able to get reckoning. That's like
a sacrifice that you're making. Yeah,
this is just some random guy's fantasy
that people said, "Oh, you should look
at this and see kind of what like I'm
just curious on what your thoughts are."
And I think it's a fun discussion point
because this is a good exercise for
somebody like me that I like to talk
about this kind of stuff. I like to talk
about a lot more of like the in-depth
class design of the game and why do
this, why do that, just kind of seeing
where we go from there. Like I think the
synergies across are important, but also
I think this would just be overpowered.
Cuz let's say you have five points in
this in this version of reckoning where
you get an extra attack after a crit.
That means you get a hand of justice
proc. You had hand of justice in vanilla
WoW. You know how strong that is. That
is a 2% chance to proc. If I have 20%
chance to crit, 25% chance to crit, then
that means I have a 25% chance that I'm
going to get an extra weapon attack.
It's like you have built-in wind fury
based on your crit chance. So then crit
ends up immediately being the most
important stat for Ret, right? Cuz you
couple that with like what what
vengeance does and everything else and
it's already kind of close. But now it's
just like a disgusting amount of damage.
And also, let's see you have seal of
command proc. So let's see you get a
white hit, crit, boom boom. You get a
seal of command proc. That seal of
command proc counts as a melee and that
procs off that crit. So then all of a
sudden you're looking at white [music]
white white seal of command potentially.
And can it chain proc? Can it chain proc
off itself? Let's say you get a white
crit seal of command crit, which happens
all the time. So then you're going to be
like white crit seal of command crit
white white. Now can it proc off of
itself? They'd probably add an internal
cool down. But then if you add an
internal cool down, then maybe it's not
as good. I don't know. It's an
interesting idea, but I don't think this
would be a good idea. I think it'd be
kind of kind of broken. Internal cool
downs are not classic. There's internal
cool downs in classic. That's private
server garbage. So proc won't happen. Uh
no, you can do that. You can you can
have things proc off itself in vanilla.
It's a fun discussion cuz it is like a
fun exercise in class design, I think
actually. Also consider this, by the
way. Sword spec. This essentially does
what sword spec does for warriors, but
it's like whatever you it scales with
your crit chance instead of a 5%. I
think it's too strong. What really needs
to happen, I think reckoning needs to be
reworked slightly to be usable for
tanking. My take consecration aura
baseline sanctity aura holy tree replace
sanctity aura with crusader strike.
Maybe make it a melee strike that does
80 to 100% weapon damage, but holy
damage. So the original crusader strike
did holy damage. Did it do holy damage
and then they changed it to physical
damage and then they changed it to be
110% weapon damage or did it not do holy
damage? I actually can't remember. But I
do know originally it did 100% weapon
damage and then it had like a 43% spell
power holy power coefficient or
something. It was like 40 or 43 and had
some kind of spell power coefficient.
Which by the way, I would like to see
them bring back. I think that is a
better way a better design for crusader
strike than the burning Crusade design
for Crusader Strike given the
itemization of gear in vanilla wow. That
way Crusader Strike would synergize with
righteous fury as a talent. It would
actually, that's actually a good point.
I like that Nerexol. I like I like the
line of thinking. And also, yeah, like
maybe maybe you have somebody you're
you're doing Crusader Strike with holy
damage, it cuts through armor, right? So
that's something to consider. But then
also, like let's say I'm a prot paladin
and I want to do single target threat,
maybe I come up with a Crusader Strike
build. That right there Nerexol is
exactly what I was talking about earlier
where it's like, "Hey, find a way to
come up with like a new build." So I
talked about like you need to support
the current builds, you need to help
develop the under-serviced builds, but
then also, I didn't actually mention
this. Sorry. I know I think I didn't
mention it, but I talked about it in the
past. The part three of class design,
you need to open up avenues for people
to be creative and come up with new
builds, very similar to how they did in
vanilla wow, right? Like things like the
the holy reckoning or even like a
shockadin or something like that. Like
you need to enable that, and you're
adding like another like like one more
degree of design, essentially. So it's
not like oh, there's not just this this
way to play. There is this way to play
that was already maintained. There's now
also more support for this way of
playing, but then also, there's like
some new things that people are coming
up with. Crusader Strike single target
prot paladin tank.
Pretty cool. And you mentioned how you
want Crusader Strike higher in the tree
at the 21 point. And Nerexol, I actually
really really like your line of thinking
with that. I love going off meta in all
games. It's fun to come up with a build
that is the most fun best for me. Yeah,
no, I 100% agree, dude. I'm I'm the same
way. Okay, let's look at the next thing
he has here. Reworked improved
concentration aura provides spell power
to the party from 10, 20, 30% of the
paladin's spirit. Spirit is already
useful for paladin tanking as it allows
you to pull more frequently. Adding
spell power to spirit will give paladin
more niche stat priority. I think it's
like cool to be like, "Yeah, spirit is
cool." But spell power from spirit for
prot paladin, I don't think it would
it's good because spirit's not really a
primary stat for paladin for regen.
They're looking a lot more at at your
spell crit and even a little bit of mana
per five. And especially for tanking,
paladins have way too many other stats.
This also kind of locks you into using
improved concentration aura instead of
retribution aura or devotion aura. So, I
don't really like this either. Even
though like it's kind of a cool idea in
concept, because it's like, "Hey, let's
say you're a Like this would be the kind
of talent that if you did something like
this, it needs to be high up in the tree
for a holy Paladin to get it to
constitute having some spirit on your
gear for holy. That would be a little
bit better. Uh but spirit over MP5s, MP5
takes more of the stat distribution than
it does than spirit does. Well, here's
the problem. The problem is your spirit
regen kicks in with a five-second rule,
and you need to keep holy shield up
constantly. So, holy shield up
constantly, you're casting every eight
seconds. So, if you're casting every
eight seconds, and there's a five-second
rule, like you're getting one tick
assuming you're not hitting a seal,
assuming you're not hitting a
consecrate, assuming you're not hitting
anything else effectively. Cuz you have
Let's say at zero seconds, you have a
holy shield, one and a half second
global cooldown, consecrate. So, zero,
one and a half seconds, and then that
leaves you with six and a half seconds.
So, you get one If you Let's say you
cast nothing else, then you're going to
get one tick, which isn't enough to
really like put a lot of itemization
points into or like even worry about,
but it's also the gear that's available
to you. I think it's good to have like a
mix of stats on your gear, but I don't
think it's I don't think it's worth Once
again, the changes you're trying to make
rep compete with Warriors and Rogues,
the top dogs of melee. Chat, I have a
hot take. You ready for it?
I think, if you look at Season of
Discovery, if you look at things that
have happened in WoW over the years,
classic WoW, vanilla WoW.
>> [music]
>> If you look at the original game and
what we knew back then, if you look at
the changes that occurred, the patches
that occurred, the reworks, right?
Starting in I think it was patch 1.6,
whenever they reworked Warriors,
whenever they whenever they started
doing all this stuff, eventually they
reworked Hunters, Warlocks, everything
all the way up, Paladins in 1.9, and
then finally at the end they reworked
Mages and Rogues that were already so
good. I think,
with all that information that we have
over 25 years, 22 years, whatever it is,
I think that Warriors in Classic Plus
probably need a nerf.
I don't think that everything in classic
plus should be made better.
>> [music]
>> I think that warrior should be tuned
down a little bit. You could even say
like mage is some classes don't even
need that much change. Some of these
classes need a little bit of tuning
down. You tune you tune some classes a
little bit up, tune some classes a
little bit down. And I say this a lot of
time. I say balance is boring and I
think it is, but it depends on what
you're talking about when you say
balance. It's a warrior main freak you.
Yeah. As fan they're going to rip your
limbs off at BlizzCon if Blizzard
doesn't do it first.
>> [laughter]
>> They're just too good given everything
that we know now over the course of 20
years. Cuz originally warriors were not
that good back in the day. I remember on
the Blizzard website you would go to
class descriptions and literally it was
like the best class like what is this
class best for? For warrior it literally
said what is this class best for? Taking
damage. We used to joke about it. Dude,
me and Drakova were playing wild
together as kids and we thought it was
so funny. They were like warriors suck.
And it's the same sort of idea that you
know back then people were like, "Oh,
warriors always lose in duels. Oh,
warrior versus paladin always loses."
The only people that think this are
noobs cuz they don't know how to play.
Now now that you have the whole scope of
the game and you have all this
knowledge, like dude, a warrior now is a
freaking juggernaut. A warrior right now
if you're good and you know how to use
all your tools,
damn.
You're you're a freaking beast. True,
they can even tank as DPS. Yeah, they're
crazy. It used to say that warrior
required gear to be good and gear sucked
at launch and it wasn't until gear got
good later. That's another good point.
They reworked all the gear. The the
progressive itemization and stuff was
nonexistent in classic wow. I've talked
about in the past about progressive
itemization and I think Blizzard heavy
dropped the ball on that. Okay, I've
been very vocal about that. Doesn't
really matter anymore cuz it was years
ago. Uh but I do think that would have
been the best version of vanilla wow
which we never got. Anyway, I'm kind of
deviating here from one sentence, but I
think that you should consider tuning
them down in comparison to everybody
else. I've played almost every class
since 2004 except warrior and priest. I
prefer DPS. I'm trying to think about
what's the wrong classic plus what is
your take? Retribution paladin join the
light or maybe play warrior who knows.
Rework benediction reduce mana cost of
all offensive abilities by 10 20 30%
this would also include consecrated holy
shield greatly benefiting prop paly. I
mean that's that's like a cool idea but
I think 30% less mana cost is kind of a
lot. It seems really strong off the cuff
but it's like I like the idea of oh this
helps the other the other builds. Would
this also reduce the mana cost of holy
shock? Would this also reduce the mana
cost of you know holy shield consecrate
what else? I mean that's pretty much it.
Move improved red aura to the second
talent row swap with improved seal of
crusader no change to improved aura
moving higher up allows prop to take the
talent without investing too much in a
red. Okay so this is kind of cool
because now he's kind of doing some of
the things that I talk about where it's
important to kind of like have the the
cross synergies between the talent
trees. I think it's kind of cool.
Improved judgement two two rework okay
so I think 5% hit from talents is too
much. I think I think 5% hit from
talents is just too much. I don't think
this should be a plus five. What else
did he do? Seal of crusader increases
melee crit chance by 1 2 3% for all
attackers. So the burning crusade
version of of judgement of the crusader.
I mean I think this would actually be
okay. The burning crusade version of of
judgement of the crusader would actually
be okay. I don't know where you would
put it in the tree but I actually agree
with this. I think having more like raid
wide buffs and stuff like that would be
really cool especially like a 40 man
raid. Now you take a 40 man raid
reworked reckoning we already talked
about that. Reworked sanctuary on top of
the additional holy damage sanctuary
aura provides party wide 3% melee hit.
What he's effectively doing with 3%
melee hit and then 5% here you don't
you're at 8% hit. I mean that's just
broken. 3% hit is an insane buff. That
is way too much. Only leaving 1% needed
from gear which would further reduce
gear competition make gearing up a red
even easier. Also you're going to go
over cap naturally. Remove repentance
you make repentance baseline and replace
it with Crusader Strike.
Ooh.
Crusader Strike late is boring. I want
to talk about this. Repentance is
humanoids only, yeah. This is a whole
discussion. Is Repentance baseline? Is
that good or bad? I do think it's weird
it being like that kind of tent pole,
keystone, flagship, whatever you call
it, 31-point talent for Ret. I think you
probably could justify making Repentance
baseline. [music] I've said in the past
how like I don't necessarily think you
need Crusader Strike. And hear me out.
This is something that's going to
trigger some people because they're not
going to like kind of listen to the
whole argument. But I think from a
design perspective, Crusader Strike and
the idea of just like a button that you
press every X amount of seconds, every
10 seconds, every 6 seconds, every 8
seconds, whatever it is, I think it's
kind of boring. And I'm not saying
boring in that like you're pressing
something, right? Like cuz it's like,
"Oh, your your fingers are active.
You're doing something." I think it's
boring from like a perspective of like
what the Paladin class is. Paladin is
very like proactive and a reactive
gameplay. And like you're constantly
thinking about things while you're
playing. Doing a rotation, just
generally speaking, and like having like
this set like I do this, I do this, I do
this, I do this, I think it's kind of
boring depending on the type of gamer
you are, the type of player you are, how
you like playing your games. I think
that's kind of just what WoW is for most
classes. [music]
And that's why a lot of people think
that a vanilla Paladin like is just auto
attacks, but it's really just cuz they
don't understand that the class was
designed differently. When we talk a
little bit about like the version of
Crusader Strike, this guy says put in
the TBC version, which is 110% weapon
damage, instant attack, refresh all
judgements on the target. I think this
part's fine. It's also a 6-second
cooldown. It has no spell power
coefficient. I would change this. Uh I I
really like Nerexso in chat mentioned,
"What if you made it holy damage so it
synergized with Righteous Fury and and
it generated more threat so that you
could you could have a like a Crusader
Strike tank. Maybe it does holy damage."
Okay. There's like a lot of things to
consider here. If it does holy damage,
if you have any sort of thing like uh
let's say like the chromatic mobs in BWL
that reduce spell damage, like just
global spell damage reduction, so you're
going to do less damage with that. Okay?
Uh on the flip side, let's say like
there's like a blessing of protection or
some sort of other physical immunity,
like a like a lip limited
invulnerability potion, it would
probably cut through that. Now, these
are these are all just things to
consider. You would make it work just
like Seal of Command where uh the Seal
of Command can be dodged, blocked,
parried, you know? It makes it better in
PvP, too, right? It would arguably make
it better in PvP, too. We literally
right-click white damage hoping for
yellow Crusader Strike would be more
fun. What did I say earlier about like
people not understanding? It's just that
it's just a different type of playstyle
than than how the paladin was was
designed. But with that being said, like
I said, I think you do need that. I
think you do need that. Um
uh for the most part, I'm not a fan of
adding abilities for Classic Plus. I'd
prefer reworking existing abilities, but
I think that is one that's warranted.
I'm 50/50 on this. I think that they
should probably add some things. What I
don't want I in fact I would go as far
as saying I think that the class design,
if they try and take Wrath of the Lich
King and they squeeze it and they mash
it into to vanilla WoW, I think it's a
failure. It's a failure in class design.
I think what they need to do is they
need to take Burning Crusade pre-patch
as like the starting point of design and
they kind of mash that into vanilla,
right? cuz it's not a hard mash, it's a
light mash, it's a light mash. And then
from there you can rework a few things,
maybe you can add a new talent, you can
do something here or there. I think
that's the way to look at it. There's a
vanilla Crusader Strike that they
removed? Yes, but I don't think they
should do that, either. What I think
they should do with Crusader Strike, I
like Sindrexo's holy damage idea,
something between that or the launch
version of Crusader Strike in Burning
Crusade. The launch version of Crusader
Strike was, I believe, 100% weapon
damage, like a 40 maybe maybe it was
like 43% spell power coefficient on
Crusader Strike. You could also you
could also say that it has like a
smaller spell power coefficient and a
higher holy power coefficient in order
to incentivize and synergize judging
Seal of the Crusader on the target,
which is how like seal of command works.
Seal of command has a 29% holy power,
20% spell power. So, you could do
something similar to to that where it's
like 40% spell power, [music] you know,
50% holy power. Okay, nerd throwing
numbers at us. Uh,
just a little bit of classic talk, you
know. Now, here's the other part of this
discussion. When we first started
talking about like a a discussion about
talent design, class design, anything
like that, I mentioned the balance
around level 60 versus the low level
like leveling process of the different
trees and different builds. And crusader
strike is a is a great example of the
ability that that makes this discussion
and [music] this planning very
difficult. Cuz from one regard, it's
like, okay, let's say you need 31 points
in ret to to have crusader strike. 31
points. So, that's a big investment in
the ret tree to be able to crusader
strike. What that means is that you
cannot get 21 point here, which is
divine favor, the 21 point here, which
is blessing of sanctuary, by getting 31
points here. That's how you balance
level 60. But, when you're talking about
like the leveling process and and having
like different things to to have while
you're leveling up and, you know, I
mentioned how consecrated I think should
be baseline at level 20. Same same as
you would get it if you were in the holy
tree, stuff like that. You can make an
argument that crusader strike is higher.
Now, if you make crusader strike higher
in the ret tree, that means, let's say
it's the 21 point. That means you could
go 30 points in one tree and then 21
points in ret and get crusader strike.
Let's say you make it the 11 point
talent. If you make it the 11 point
talent, you might have a world where you
were a holy paladin and you have 11
points in ret and you have crusader
strike. Protection. You're protection
paladin you have 11 points in ret and
you have a crusader strike. Let's say
that crusader strike does holy damage.
Well, holy's damage generates more
threat with how it works with righteous
fury. So, now you have a pretty strong
single target actual like attacking way
of generating threat on a target instead
of worrying about like that return
damage sort of build. Kind of an
interesting new engaging way to play a
protection paladin. That was point three
of class design that I was talking
about. So, this isn't something I was
thinking about before, but it's just
something that Rexo said and it kind of
got my my my my wheels turning. Even if
it doesn't do holy damage. But, let's
say let's say we talk about the other
versions of Crusader Strike where it
does like 100% weapon damage with a 40%
spell power coefficient. Okay, well, if
I'm holy and I have some spell power on
my gear, well, I could get 11 points in
Ret and I'm like a melee like battle
healer and I've got Crusader Strike. New
engaging ways like just new territory.
You could be a Pathfinder and finding a
new different build to play and having
the core of your class design be that
vanilla Paladin. But, wait, maybe
there's like some new engaging options,
some new engaging ways to play.
I think that's kind of cool.
I think that's pretty sick. Overall,
like what do I think about this random
guy on on Reddit's version of his talent
trees? I wouldn't say I like it. I I
wouldn't say this is like my cup of tea
necessarily, but this is like a fun sort
of exercise. It's a fun sort of build to
come up with. And I'm going to take this
a step further. Why don't we do this
with all the classes?
We'll be live streaming BlizzCon main
stage when they announce our future.
Guys, this channel is the stream to
watch for BlizzCon. You're going to get
the best BlizzCon coverage unlike
anything you've seen. We're going to be
on the floor, we're going to be on the
ground, we're going to have a desktop
set up, we're going to be reacting to
everything, talking about everything.
This is where you're going to get the
best, most unbiased, unpaid, okay, I'm
not sponsored by Blizzard, okay? So, I
will say I will say how I feel. I mean,
I will do that anyway even when I'm
sponsored, to be fair. I'm always doing
that. [music] I think this is a this is
a fun exercise to do and and to talk
about this, but not just for Paladins,
right? If you want to come up with a
talent tree and have me like go over it
on stream and what I think about it and
to get ideas and stuff like that, like
we're probably going to learn a lot at
BlizzCon, but I think this is going to
be a very fun sort of exercise to do
before BlizzCon. But, not only that,
there's a big difference between
whatever we get at BlizzCon, whatever
Classic Plus is, and and [music] the
Classic that we've gotten in the past.
Cuz Classic is supposed to be a
recreation. This is new territory.
[music] This is new ground. So, let's
say we see something at BlizzCon,
they're a lot more apt to change it and
develop it and be like, "Okay, you know
what? Let's go back to the drawing
board. This isn't a good idea. You know,
whatever we see at BlizzCon, if it's not
good, we can be vocal about it and maybe
get some stuff changed. I think that was
a fun exercise. If you guys want to send
me your talents, whenever I'm live, come
into chat at the beginning. We're going
to be doing this is the classic plus
waiting room, okay? Just like years ago.
If you were around years ago, you know
all about the classic WoW waiting room,
classic cast, you know, with tips and
everything just everything else we were
doing, right? Back in the day, [music]
classic plus, we're waiting in the
ranks, okay? We're very excited.
BlizzCon is coming. This is going to be
the place to watch BlizzCon. On my
stream, there's going to be drops all
BlizzCon on YouTube, on Twitch. We also
stream on Rumble, we stream on Kick.
Multi-streaming, we stream on Twitter,
right? X, whatever it is. So, I'll be
multi-streaming everywhere. You're going
to get the best BlizzCon coverage you're
going to get you're going to get some
action on the floor, okay? You're going
to get reacts at a desktop. You're going
to get everything, everything. All the
best of the best of the best coverage
you're going to find it here on my
channel. Everything is SfanTV, so make
sure you watch, make sure you subscribe,
like, follow, whatever it is. Do all
those things and come be a part of the
community. Not only that, speaking of
community, I'm hosting a massive the
night before on Friday night, September
11th, massive Sfans big BlizzCon
extravaganza. Okay, you go to
blizzcon.sfantv. It takes you to a
registration and you can register for
the event. It is a free community event,
not just for people that watch my stream
or watch my YouTube videos, but this is
a BlizzCon community event. WoW has been
a big part of my life. I love this game.
It means so much to me. It's my entire
streaming career and everything. It all
started with classic WoW. And even
though like I come and go depending on
what's going on in life and I do so many
different things, it's kind of all come
full circle. From being like private
server guy that got banned that was on
Blizzard's blacklist all the way now to
hey, I'm working with Blizzard, you
know, in front of the scenes, behind the
scenes, doing all kinds of stuff with
them, being very much like in the cut
with a lot of stuff now. It's it's kind
of crazy to go from being like like I
said, literally on the blacklist and
being banned from from streaming private
servers. I had a three-month ban. That's
kind of like how everything got kicked
off. Whenever I used to stream back in
the the old like Lights Hope days,
Elysium, all that. When I was only
streaming on YouTube before I was
full-time. Going from that to everything
else that's happened in the last 10
years, like I said, even though I don't
always stream WoW anymore, it has a
very, very deep, special place in my in
my heart. Especially Classic, especially
Vanilla and Burning Crusade, those two.
And I really hope Classic Plus is that
game that can kind of help to kind of
keep on spreading and keep on allowing
other people to have the same sort of
enjoyment and passion for this game that
I have, you know? I think to come out
and to support the community and host
this big event that is free for anybody
that wants. There's a supporter ticket
as well, but but it is free for anybody
that wants to come. That's anybody that
anybody is going to make the trip out to
Anaheim and BlizzCon. That's That's
already going to be very expensive
enough as is. And I'm like, "Look, I've
been very fortunate enough to make a
living and make a career from
streaming." And it really all started
with this. I'm on the cusp of 10 years
of streaming. Let's turn this into a
little 10-year anniversary sort of event
as well. Why not? So, make it a little
bit of like 10-year anniversary. It's a
little early. It's also my birthday. I'm
trying to come up with every excuse in
the world to to constitute spending so
much money on this event. [laughter]
>> [gasps]
>> But I care, you know? I care and I think
it'll be cool and I think people will
enjoy it and it's just like a community
thing. Invite your guilds, invite
everybody, come on through and we'll see
you at the Anaheim Marriott on [music]
Friday, September 11th. So, thank you
guys for watching. Make sure to like,
subscribe, all that stuff. Leave a
comment. Let me know what you guys think
and we'll see you guys next time.
