What Do YOU DO To Keep Your Salvation?

Okay. Yes. And so, so, but that wasn't my point. You can look at that, maybe do a teaching on it later. We can talk on that. Here was my point that I wanted to bring up. My point that I really wanted to bring up was Hebrews chapter 3. Um, I know that you believe in once saved, always saved. Uh, and a person cannot lose their salvation. I disagree with that. uh Hebrews chapter 3 um and many other passages honestly, but Hebrews chapter 3 I think is is one that I I've been looking at for a while. Uh it starts at verse 12. >> Um I'm CSB. It says, "Watch out brothers and sisters so that there won't be in any of you an evil unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. but encourage each other daily while it is still called today. So that none of you is hardened by sin's deception. For we have become participants in Christ if we hold firmly until the end the reality that we had at the start. When I read that, this is very clear that he is telling his brothers, hey, watch out for this type of heart of being hardened. And the reason why I think important is if I believe I can't lose my salvation anyways, then there's no way I'm going to take that even remotely serious. I'm be like that he talking to them other people cuz that clearly ain't going to be me. Nor would it have to be warning >> so first place. I've covered this several times, which is why I already it's it's already highlighted uh in the text I went because I this is one of the texts people tend to go to uh in Hebrews 3, but he says that make sure that you don't have an unbelieving heart. Okay, hold on. Uh an unbelieving heart that falls away from the living God. >> Need to figure out what that means by unbelieving heart that falls away from the living God. Then he goes on to say to uh make sure that that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. So uh for we become part for we have become partakers of Christ if so you only be a partaker of Christ if you hold fast to the beginning. Hold fast the beginning of our assurance firm until the end. So we must hold fast. Now >> this doesn't bother me. Why why would it bother you court? Because again, this this whole if part, I don't know why that would bother someone because this is one of the ways you can you can identify that am I a believer? Well, am I holding fast? Well, yeah. Does God say that believers will hold fast? Well, yeah. He as a matter of fact, the first people that hear this, they don't understand it or they don't heed it is he says it to the Jews that he is going to do something to their heart. And when he does something to the hearts, particularly these Jews, and by the way, the book of Hebrews is written to Jewish believers. He says he'll put his spirit in their heart and they will never turn away from him nor will he turn away from them. So it can't be that they can turn away from him but God said that they never will. Then what did God mean when he said in Jeremiah 32 as well as Ezekiel? But Jeremiah 32:39 and 40 when he says when I do so you will never turn away from me. But we can. So either we can or we can't. Those two things are literally contradictory. Those are in the same space time and sphere. So I can't turn away from him if he says I can. I mean I cannot. If I say I can, well we literally have a contradiction. We have a reason never to be Christians because the Bible that we bank our lives on is contradictory. So when he says Jeremiah in 332, is it possible to turn away from him if he put this spirit in your heart? >> So yes, and that's not a contradiction actually because if it was a contradiction, then there would be no need for him to say this in the first place. >> No no no right. So God says, I will not I will not turn away from them to do them good and I will put the fear of me in their hearts and look what it says that they will not turn away from me. So according to this text, will they turn away from him >> before he can? So watch this. [clears throat] The reason why I think that you misplace this text or that you're you're making a misstep in this text is because you're not actually understanding how God speaks sometimes in the Old Testament. I can give you an example. Numbers chapter 25, God says, "I'm going to set up an everlasting covenant with the priest Phineas." But then when you see in 1 Samuel chapter 2 and chapter 3, he literally says, "I said that I was going to do this for your family, but now no longer." Because those who mock me, those who think they're going to mock me, I won't stand for it. And he actually stops that covenant with them. That is that is how the old that's why I was saying in Leviticus 16 it doesn't have to make the qualifying statement of yes you will have my spirit but also if you do it it doesn't have to say that because God knows whose are his like it says in second. >> So if God knows if God knows whose are his and he puts his spirit in their heart. If he puts his spirit in their heart are they are they his? So yes, if God knows, if you are the one who's going to make it to the end, God knows that. >> No, no, no, no, no, no, no. The Lord spoke to Moses Phineas son of Eleazar son of Aaron the priest has turned back my wrath from the Israelites because he was zealous among them with my zeal so that I did not destroy the Israelites in my zeal. Therefore I declare I grant him my covenant of peace. It will be a covenant of perpetual priesthood for him and his future generations because he was zealous for his God and made atonement for the Israelites. Now, if I went and said, "Okay, is he going to is his uh is his people or is his descendants going to have this perpetual priesthood according to this text?" You would say, "Yes, it's it says it clear as day right there." So, I'm doing the same thing that you're doing. But what we see in 1 Samuel is God says, "I know what I said, but now I'm telling you, I'm cutting that off. No more." So what I'm saying is when I then go into Hebrews chapter 3, I'm not cutting against Ezekiel. I'm not cutting against Jeremiah. What I'm saying is I am giving a fuller picture to the text just like I can do with Numbers chapter 25. Now if I sat here and asked you a million times and said, Corey, is are they going to get this perpetual priesthood or not? And you said, well, for now, but not then I'd be like, no, you're not executing the text. That's what you're doing to me right now. >> Okay. He reiterates it in Ezekiel 11 and Ezekiel 36. I will cause put my spirit in them and cause them to walk. And then when we get to the New Testament to see what happens when you have the spirit of the Lord in you, when you have the when you have a regenerated heart, Jesus says that this person will hold the word and bear fruit forever with perseverance continuously. So if you have that in your heart now the question is when I write if I'm Paul or Peter or James or John or the writer of Hebrews and I write a letter to you implicit that letter is there going to be somebody in there that some somebody's who are not actual believers. We don't know who's going to read this. The letter is not going to be read by one person. It's going to be read by many people. So make sure that that's not you that has an unbelieving heart. If you do have a believing heart, Jesus tells us according to this text that that person with a new heart or a good heart, and here's the word, they will hold the word with perseverance. They will bear fruit with perseverance. This word that's used here is continuously. They won't stop doing it according to Jesus. So the question is going to be, are you the person with the believing heart? make sure that you are the one with the believing heart. That's that's what he's saying in Hebrew. >> That doesn't make sense >> because you have settle you've made up your mind. But those that depart from God, you can depart from the faith. As a matter of fact, every time in the New Testament, when someone departs, they part from the knowledge, the truth, or the faith. That's what they depart from. But when Jesus says that the person will always hold, you can't get past the fact that they will hold the word forever, that they will bear fruit forever. When Jesus says, "I'm not going to hold on cuz you made the statement earlier that God knows which ones are his." You said that, right? >> So if God knows which ones are his and they were given to Jesus and Jesus says, "I came so that I won't lose not one." You come back and say, "Yeah, not so fast, Jesus. It'll be as if he he >> What made what made a person Hold on. Stop stop using Stop using Ezekiel 18 because Ezekiel 18 is speaking about a righteous man under the law. What made him righteous? And those are all to cover the individual person. And then you got this national atonement under Leviticus 16, which God says he's hold on that God says he's going to fulfill. Now, anytime before the cross, you are under that dispensation. Anytime before the cross, that's what you're under. So, you can be righteous on Monday and unrighteous righteous in in in January and unrighteous in February or unrighteous in July. But what did he promise to come going forward? A new covenant that he's going to make, not like the one that they had in Ezekiel 18 that they were under. A new covenant. In this new covenant, things change a bit. And in this new covenant, he's going to give you a brand new heart. A heart that's going to cause you to walk after him. According to Ezekiel 11 and Ezekiel 36, he says this will happen. Not happening now, not during the days of Ezekiel, but what's going to happen in the future when? At the cross, at the new covenant. Jeremiah 31, Jeremiah 32, Ezekiel 11, Ezekiel 36, hearkening back to Deuteronomy. uh six, I mean 30, hearkening back to Deuteronomy 32, hearkening back to Hosea, hearkening back to Amos. And so these things are going to happen where God is going to do something to the heart. When does he do so? John 1, John 3, John 10, which no G, nobody has gotten around yet. John 5:24, that you have already passed out of death. You can't go back into it if you if using the same verbiage where he says you've already passed out of it and already passed in to life. You will never come into judgment. According to John 5:24, Jesus says if you're his, that means the father gave you to him. And the reason why he came is so that he would never lose any. Not one. You can't come back and say, "Well, you might." No, he won't lose one. So the question is going to be though if you're saved that's your determination you got to figure out that's why Jesus says not everyone says to me Lord Lord it's not that Jesus used to know you and then stop knowing no I never knew you have to know for yourself Paul says let every man examine himself to make sure that you do have Christ so I can say what I'm saying right now that doesn't mean that it's applied to all the 300 almost 400 folks in the chat or to you it doesn't mean that that that's who it applies to You need to make sure you're saved. So when you walk by the spirit, >> understand you are being led by the spirit. You do have the ability to make mistakes and and and to sin. And he works in those things. So guess what the reason why because you can't be saved if you're not being led by the spirit. He says all those who who are led by the spirit, those are the sons of God. If you're not led by him, then one, you're not a son. Two, Jesus says that he leads his sheep. If you ain't following, you ain't his sheep. And so do you get the opportunity to do your own thing from time to time? Sure, cuz you have the flesh. And what did God say would happen if you mess up in him? I'mma kick you out. No. Two things. Hebrews 5 says, I'll discipline you like a son. But also Paul says, I will take everything everything that you do. I God will work with it and cause it to work out for your good. You could not lose your salvation and it be for your good. Paul says, "All things, every single thing that you do, good or bad, he will work with it for the good of those like Ben." I believe Ben loves the Lord. I believe Ben doesn't quite understand, but Ben loves the Lord. So whatever Ben does, if Ben sins, if Ben goes and watch some porn, if Ben gets drunk, if Ben if somebody slap Ben and Ben said, "No, you slapped the wrong one." and being whoopsome. God is going to take that some sort of way for your good and for others. If you lost your salvation because of it, that's not for your good. All things means any and everything that you can think of. And so what the reason why I'm asking you this and going down this line of reasoning is because I think you're almost there. You said that it's him. It's him that that that that did this in you. your will, your disposition, your your whole will to want to do right, that came from him. That ain't you. That ain't Ben. The old being would have did something different. The whole the the power that's working in you is the Holy Spirit. Who's that? That's God. That ain't just some some fell you met. That's God who's working in you, who's moving in you. Just like he promised to do. He said he promised all these things he promised to do after the cross, he's doing them. Not one thing failed. And because he's the good shepherd, he's promised not to lose not one sheep. That includes you, Ben. You can't come back and say that if he lost one, well, you used to be a sheep and you walked away. All I know is this one, he told me that I will have his spirit, brand new heart, which is a new will. So my will, my desire is going to do good, is to do good. My flesh might not, but even in then when I mess up, he's going to one, discipline me as a son to correct me and bring me back, not get rid of me, but also make it work for my good. Two, he's going to shepherd me and lead me like he said, he cannot lose any. So if I were to ever at any point in time genuinely place my faith in Christ, I can never ever walk away. Jesus says my famous passage that no scholar ever has ever refuted because it can't be that it is impossible for a sheep of his to perish now or into the future. So it's impossible which means there is no possibility which means there's no scenario that you can come up with that would cause a sheep to perish. Implicit in that is that he does something in you. What's the in you that he does? Changes your heart. So your heart has a new desire. Puts his spirit on top of that. Puts his spirit in you as Ezekiel says that will cause you to walk. So we read Galatians 5 that I should walk by the by the spirit or in the spirit. And it's that very same spirit that I should walk in that's also leading me. And so he does that. Then he also has these angels around me. And then on top of that, he's paid a debt to the point to where I can never incur a debt against God. Nothing worse. God is never going to say, "You know what, Corey? Now you owe a debt again." Nowhere in the New Testament do we see anyone ever incurring a debt. As a matter of fact, Jesus on the cross said, "It's finished. You can never get another debt again by using that Greek phrase." And then Colossians 2 says that the debt has been cancelled. So there is no more debt to be brought up. And so now we know because of what Jesus says in in Luke 8 that I am going to keep the word how long? Forever. I'm going to bear fruit forever. If I'm going to bear fruit forever and keep the word forever according to Jesus, how then do I lose my salvation? >> I won't. The only question is going to be hold on last last part and I'll give it to you. The only question is going to be this. >> Did I actually get saved? Did I actually believe? That's what the writer of Hebrews is saying. Make sure that that's you. >> If >> Okay. >> Make sure that's you. Otherwise, you're not saved. >> Go ahead. >> So, Corey, I think I think you you just said some things and I think you do the same things. You talk to me about reading, but you're actually not reading yourself. In Galatians chapter, first off, Galatians chapter 5, just because I'm being led does not mean that I do not take the decision. That's not what that means. If Paul is talking to you, then he is saying you choose. You must make the choice to be led by the spirit and walk in the spirit. According also when we look at Hebrews chapter 3, you keep talking about how this new heart that you have. Well, in Hebrews chapter 3, it literally tells them do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion. So, what that tells me is, okay, there can be a hardening where I harden my own heart. We see that in Exodus where sometimes Pharaoh hardens his own heart against God. Just like in Deuteronomy, you was talking about Deuteronomy chapter, Hold on, you you had this whole thing. So, I'm going to do the same thing. Deuteronomy chapter 10, just like it says, just like it says in Deuteronomy 30 to have your heart circumcised. It also says in Deuteronomy chapter, circumcise your heart. So, there is a way that we can actually harden our heart. And according to what we see in Exodus, it's when God says something and we ignore it or we say, "Nope, I'm not going to." >> Has that ever happened? >> Now, would you hold Hold on. Wait, hold on. Wait. Hold on. So then when you just said, "No Greek scholar has ever refuted this passage. No Greek scholar has ever refuted the passage that I just gave you. It said that they had something at the start and that you must hold on to that to the end." You cannot then say, "Well, that means he's talking to people in the church who don't really believe in God, but they just kind of there and they kind of believe." No, they either had it or they didn't. He never said anything about if you're not a Christian. >> What do you mean by a Greek scholar? >> He never said, "Wait, wait, hold on. Wait, wait. But that's only if you hold what you had at the start to the end. So for you to say, "Oh, well, he's talking about believers. That's something that you inserted into the text." You can't take that and expositially say that's what that text is saying. because it doesn't say anywhere in there that he's talking to unbelievers who think that they're believers. Make sure that none of you are the person who's evil. Make sure that none of you are the person who doesn't believe. That's literally what it says. There's no iso even to that text. You brought up no Greek scholar. You just threw it out there because I don't know what Greek scholar you're talking about. What argument you're talking about that a Greek scholar would have to refute. Now, ask me what I'm talking about about a Greek scholar not have to refute. Because if no one can refute the text I keep bringing up, then it's impossible to lose salvation. >> Watch this. And then it goes on and on and even says in James where it talks, if you sin, God never tempts you to sin, but it comes from your own evil desires. So when you put in there this evil and unbelief heart, that does not have to mean unbeliever. That's not what he said. So you can't make what he didn't say. He said, "Do make sure that you don't have this evil heart of unbelief that falls away, that turns away from the living God. Encourage one another daily." And then it says, "You must hold on what you had at the start. If I had Jesus at the start, >> and then you're telling me, okay, yeah, but you really ain't got it for real, cuz I I'm talking to the unbelievers." That would make no sense for him to say that. >> Okay. There is never ever ever in the Bible an actual debt that is incurred um by anyone after the cross. None. Also, uh I'm sorry, I'm doing two two things at once. Also, on top of that, if there's never a debt, if there's never, by the way, the Bible says there's there's never going to be any kind of condemnation. Nothing can separate you. He's going to work everything out for your good. He caused you to be born again. He did. You didn't. He did. He caused you to be born again. He gave you a brand new heart. He gave you a heart that that that leans towards him. He gave you the Holy Spirit in you and leads you with the Holy Spirit. He says he'll never lose any. If you ever come back and say that you can be lost, then Jesus needs to clarify what he said because he says, "I won't lose any." Not, he didn't say any. Not one. None. None will be lost. And so to come back and figure out a way, well, let me figure out a way how you can be lost. No, because you never were his. So when Jesus makes a statement, I never knew you. Don't kid yourself cuz someone put in the chat, someone I guess they thought that this was kind of their their their flex, but this person says that, "No, Corey, you're wrong. Um, I used to believe. Jesus says otherwise. I never knew you." There's not I used to know you. And then then I stop. No, I never, not once at any point in time in your life or mine did I ever know you. You can't get past it. And again, the text, the end all text that I spoke about about the Hebrew, about the Greek scholars, no one can get past the fact that Jesus says it's impossible to perish, not just now into the future. That means there's no possible way to come around that. None. And what I said about a Greek scholar, no Greek scholar, even those who might disagree with ones they've always saved, has done dealt with that text and say, "Well, no, not that text." They'll just throw in a condition that you have to say a sheep. But that's not there in John 10. John 10 says the sheep will follow. John 10 says the sheep will never go after a strange voice ever. The sheep will never ever according to John Ten umeson they will never in the future follow a strange voice. Never. But he says instead they will run away from it. We will overcome. You can't find a Hebrew scholar that disproves what the Hebrew text of Ezekiel 36:25 and 27 means or Jeremiah 32-40. I will put my spirit in you when when will I put my spirit in you? At the cross. At the time of regeneration. In this new in this new dispensation of the new covenant. I'll do it then. And what does he say? You will never turn away. He gives us two things to consider. One, God will never turn away. Two, you will never turn away. So what other what other variable is missing? None. It's the fact that you want to take credit like the young man just we just showed who kept you for those 11 years. It's been God. And whatever decision for your good that kept you, it's been God. I chose to keep following God. Well, where'd you get that new desire to change or to choose God? Cuz did you want to choose God before you were saved? No. Well, why do you want to choose God now?
