Video summary

for joining us today. This is the Tech
Soup new member orientation. It's great
to see that we've got new folks here um
and folks who've just created their
nonprofit even or just begun just
launched it. Um and uh we're here today
to share with you how TechUp can help
you on your nonprofit journey. Um just
real quick, we're going to jump to your
engagement uh abilities during this
webinar. You can use the chat button to
participate in the discussion. If you've
got specific questions you want to ask,
please use that Q&A button that Zoom
provides. Um, and if you want to show
captions, obviously you can use that.
Um, and um, before we get going on our
presentation, I do want to highlight
that today is day two of a pretty
special promotion that we hold at Tech
Soup on a product called Grantstation.
Grant Station is an online database of
uh grant funders. Um and we're offering
it right now during this two-day promo
period for $119 for a one-year
subscription. It's a fantastic resource,
especially for smaller nonprofits who
may be new to the world of grant seeking
and writing applications and building a
strategy around grant funding. Um, and
so, uh, if you are interested in that,
we'll, uh, encourage you to head on over
to the Tech Soup site, which we'll look
at several times during this webinar.
Um, and you can, uh, take a look at
whether Grant Station's something you
want to pick up for your nonprofit. All
right. Well, welcome to Tech Soup. Um,
today's new member orientation Q&A is
all about introducing you to us and
introducing us to you. um and uh sharing
some more detail about how we can help
your nonprofit.
Real quick, if you're a Chrome user, I
want to share a hot tip because that's
part of what Tech Soup does is help
everybody with technology broadly. Um,
you'll notice here on my screen that
instead of my tabs all being across the
top of the screen, they're in this left
column here, which I have to say for me
has been a gamechanging change in Chrome
because before with my tabs across the
top, it was really hard to keep track of
what was open because you can't read the
copy on that tab. But if you go to your
top bar there and you rightclick it,
there is for me what says show tabs
horizontally. And that's because I'm
already showing them vertically. But if
you have them across the top of your
screen, you can choose show tabs
horizontally and it will move them all
to the left side here. And I promise
you, if you're a Chrome user, this is a
huge change in functionality that could
really make your life easier. Anyway,
enough on that. Um, you've already met
the wonderful Artha Simons. I'm Nick
Finn, the head of global marketing here
at Tech Soup. We're also joined by Kelly
Garrett who's with client services and
the three of us will walk you through
today's presentation.
Mario Maggara is busy today and is not
joining us but um we love it when she is
here. So what is Tech Soup? Well, we are
a 501c3 nonprofit organization just like
you um with more than 700,000 members
around the world. Our mission, what we
do is support other nonprofits working
with technology to build a more
equitable planet.
We host the world's best known catalog
of hardware and software for nonprofits,
including major brands like Microsoft,
Dell, into it, and much more. We offer
affordable technology services to help
nonprofits as they work on techfocused
issues like managing their website, AI
adoption, managed IT, and many more.
We'll talk about those in this
presentation.
We create courses, webinars, and
training for nonprofit staff. And we
also create grant-based programming
around issues like digital resilience,
online disinformation, and cyber
security. So, like most nonprofits out
there, we wear many hats. And if you ask
me for the elevator pitch on Tech Soup,
my question is, how long are we going to
be in this elevator? Because there's a
lot to talk about.
How does it work with Tech Soup? Well,
step one, you join Tech Suit by creating
an account and submitting your tax
documentation. So, essentially proving
to us that you are indeed a 501c3
nonprofit organization.
Number two is you choose your TechUp
membership level, which we'll look at in
a second. And number three, once TechUp
has validated your nonprofit, usually
takes a day or two, you can begin using
the catalog of offers, services, and
resources that we provide.
So, how does my nonprofit join Tech
Soup? Well, there you go. It's in the
top right hand corner of the live
website. Got my little yellow arrow here
pointing out exactly where it is. I'll
go to the live site right now to also
show you here. This is the actual live
Tech Soup site right now. And here is
the join login button at the top. And
you can use that to join Tech Soup or if
you're already a member, you log in
there.
Step two of after joining Techup is you
choose one of two membership levels.
There's Techup Core which is a zerocost
free membership level that gives you
access to the Techup catalog in includes
some product discounts in that catalog
and our free resource library. Things
like free webinars like this one or
other expertled webinars. Um, and this
is primarily for organizations who just
need access to the basic information and
catalog at TechUp. The second level of
TechUp membership is a paid membership
level. It's $199 a year. Um, it's for
your entire nonprofit and it gives you
deeper access to Tech Suit Plus with
personalized guidance, expert
consultations,
um, and a peer community of folks who
are using technology. you can network
with other nonprofit professionals who
are working in the tech space and it's
really for organizations that need help
adopting and optimizing their um
technology use. So the free level is for
folks who already kind of know what they
need. They just want access to the
catalog. The paid level is for a much
deeper engagement with expertise around
technology.
Um in this slide we go into something a
little deeper about it. Um, and uh, just
pointing out that part of what the Tech
Suit Plus membership includes is in is
reduced fees beyond the catalog um, on
products like AWS, Autodesk, etc. Um,
and uh, you do get access to the expert
courses at Tech Soup um, 80% off there.
Um, and then there's a expertled
webinars etc within the tech suit plus
space. So, if your nonprofit is really
tech forward, Techup Plus is probably
the membership level that you would want
to choose.
Okay, we've taken a look at the Techup
website, how to join, what the
membership levels are. Let's talk about
the offers available in the Tech Soup
catalog. And I'm going to begin with
Microsoft because almost every nonprofit
we work with uses Microsoft products in
one way or another. Um, obviously the
Windows operating system is a key part
of that. Um, and beyond that, you know,
it's the standard suite of office
productivity um, platforms you're used
to like Word, Excel, etc. Um, and uh,
going to the live site again, you find
Microsoft by well, first of all, you can
click on the Microsoft logo on the
homepage there or under this products
dropdown, there it is, Microsoft. So,
let's pop through there right now. I'll
take a quick look at what's available
from Microsoft.
So, um, first of all, I'll point out
that we do have Microsoft Copilot, the
nonprofit cloud subscription, uh,
available through Tech Soup. So, that is
our AI offer through Microsoft. Um, but
most nonprofits come to Tech Soup for
Microsoft products. Um, specifically
Microsoft 365 and Office 365. These are
the, you know, cloud-based enterprise
versions of those productivity suites.
Um, you know, back in the old days,
those used to be onrem, which meant that
you had it on your local computer. Um,
but nowadays, it's all cloud-based and,
um, we have those offers, but there is
other stuff from Microsoft available as
well for some particular things. We do
have some legacy Windows 10 stuff. Um,
there is Visual Studio if you're a
developer. If you're a larger nonprofit
that uses um Microsoft Azour, we do have
Microsoft Azour in the catalog, that's a
server solution. A little more
sophisticated, smaller nonprofits don't
need to worry about that. We have the
Microsoft Dynamics customer relationship
management tool as well. And finally, um
if you work in a computer lab, we do
have some specific offers for um
organizations that run computer labs.
you know, sometimes like a a nonprofit
job training or a library, for instance,
can often tap into some of these um
offers. Um, but I encourage you more
than anything after the webinar, if
you're a Microsoft user and you need to
upgrade, look at some new stuff, go
through the whole page yourself, there's
a set of options there that would be
interesting. So, going to bring that
home and jump back over to our slide
deck
into it. QuickBooks is another super
popular offer through Tech Soup. Um, and
uh, nonprofits obviously know by now
that a paper and pencil accounting
system just is not appropriate. Um, and
if you want your donors and uh, uh,
grant funders um, and the public to have
real faith and confidence in your
bookkeeping, which is really important
for nonprofits,
um, then uh, into it QuickBooks is an
excellent choice here. um really is one
of the most popular offers in the Tech
Soup catalog. Again, going back to the
live site, you can find in it QuickBooks
right here under the products menu. Um
and when you pop through there, there
really only two options here. There's a
five users option, there's a 25 users
option. So, if you're a small or
probably that five users option is what
would be most interesting to you. Um, we
do have additional services available.
If you need to migrate your data from an
older version of QuickBooks to a new
version of QuickBooks, we can help you
with that.
Right, going to the next slide. Um, we
do also currently offer um Adobe
products through the Tech Soup site and
again through this products menu right
here. popping down to Adobe. Um, it's
Creative Cloud for individuals. And
Creative Cloud, if you are a graphic
designer or web designer, you know, for
a long time really has been the standard
of what you would work with um to build
the graphics, images, and layout um of
your website of uh print materials as
well. Um it includes things like
Dreamweaver, Inesign, Photoshop,
Illustrator, all of that. So that's the
Adobe Creative Cloud offer available
through Tech Soup.
Um
uh and then one of the things that we've
expanded a lot over the last several
years is access to hardware through Tech
Soup. And this is kind of newer. Um a
lot of folks think of us as only being a
place where you could grab software, but
on the live site, if you go to products
here, you can scroll down to hardware
right here. And let's take a look at
what's in the catalog. right now it is
often changing because we work with a
number of vendors um and products come
in and out of uh circulation um you know
for instance at the moment uh what do we
see here we've got Apple iPads eighth
and ninth generation um hotspots from
mobile beacon which are um you know it's
a w portable wireless device essentially
so that you can get Wi-Fi on the run
super helpful for nonprofits that might
have field staff who are, you know, not
in an office working, but maybe out in a
live location interacting with the
public or your beneficiaries.
Um, we maintain great relationships with
Dell, HP, and Lenovo and have access to
their nonprofit cataloges through Tech
Soup. Um, we carry things like monitors,
networking equipment, security cameras,
sensors,
um, printers are a pretty common thing
that folks come to us for. And you know,
there's always the smaller office items
that uh folks are always looking for
like headsets, etc. Um, and one thing I
do want to point out that's of
particular interest, and you'll have to
bear with me in terms of how you
navigate to it. Um, you know, because
we're a nonprofit and we're interested
not just in profit and making money, but
actually in making the world a better
place, and that includes paying
attention to environmental and green
practices. Tech Soup long ago took the
position that it's not appropriate to
just dump the latest technology in a
landfill because you've bought something
that's even newer. That in fact, a lot
of this hardware can be refurbished and
reused and resold at a lower price
point, which just makes technology more
accessible and can be a great way for
nonprofits to save money. So, when
you're on that hardware page, if you go
to category here and scroll down to
green technology,
you can see our catalog of refurbished
desktops and laptops right up here. Um,
I'm not going to scroll this down, but I
see like right now even we have
refurbished Apple MacBooks available
through Tech Soup, and that's not always
the case. Those are harder to come by.
So um you know these are again used
items but they have been processed by a
professional refurbisher refurbisher
who's made sure that um you know that
the processor is still good that the
memory is wiped and clean and available
to work um and uh those are available
again just through your standard tech
suit membership.
So going back now to Tech Soup services.
So you know the digital products,
software, and then the hardware
technology products are part of what
Tech Soup offers nonprofits as a way to
save some money. However, um there's
more than that. And one of the big
things we've come to really understand
over the years is that often nonprofits
really need help with managing and
implementing the technology that they've
already purchased. So that software and
that hardware that they have, it's not
always easy to know exactly how to
troubleshoot it, how to implement it,
how to configure it, and make sure that
it's working properly the way you need
it to. Um, and so going now to our
services menu, that's right up here on
the right again next to the products.
And there are a number of different
services available to nonprofits in this
menu, but I'm going to just go to the
first major page here, which is the
overview, because it kind of gives us a
better list of everything that we're uh
that we have available for nonprofits.
Um, and I'm just going to scroll down
here. Now, the services we provide, we
provide in partnership with other firms.
And so you'll see some names up here
like Cause Inspired, the Tap Network,
Tech Impact, QuickBooks Made Easy for
nonprofits.
All these firms are outside of Tech
Soup, but they all specialize in serving
nonprofits, so they really understand
how nonprofits work. You know, one of
the things that drives me crazy is I'm
constantly getting sales emails from all
sorts of technology providers, and the
first thing they do is call us a
business. And as soon as they do that, I
know that they haven't actually looked
at what we are because we're not a
business. We are a nonprofit. And maybe
you experience the same thing. All these
firms that we partner with to provide
these services, they know the difference
between a nonprofit and a business. And
so that's the first important thing to
know here. Now, let's talk about what
some of these services are. Google Ad
Grants management. If you're using a
Google Ad Grant, it's not always easy to
know how to best manage that. So, we
provide a service to help you with that.
Um, I have yet to meet a nonprofit who
believes their website is all it could
be. Most of them spend their time
thinking about how could I make my
website better? Maybe I should redo the
whole thing. One of our partners, Tap
Network, are experts in helping you with
that process. And of course, that's not
a paid it's not a free service. It's a
paid service, but these guys really know
what they're doing, and they can really
help you think through what it is you
want to do with your website, make some
technical changes and updates to it that
you think are important.
Managed it is a really popular service
through Tech Soup. It's provided by Tech
Impact. What managed it does is a full
contract with a nonprofit to help them
manage all of their technology stack.
They're like an outside consultant,
right? Um, and instead of just
troubleshooting one particular printer
or one laptop, they're going to take a
comprehensive holistic view at all the
technology that your nonprofit is using
and help you manage all of it. And you
know, even at Tech Soup, we use Tech
Impact to help with like our own help
desk processes. And it's incredibly
helpful because it means we can stay
focused on our mission. Tech Impact can
do the backend things that we really
need help with, right? Um, like I
mentioned before, if you need to migrate
your data from an older version of
QuickBooks to a new version of
QuickBooks you got through Tech Soup, we
can provide support for that as well.
But as you scroll down this page, what
you'll start to see is that there is a
whole lot of other stuff going on as
well. Some really specialized services
for instance like around form 9990s.
If you're struggling with that, we have
help for you. Um, you know, lots of
nonprofits are religious organizations
and they have to do annual compliance
filings, right? If you don't know how to
do that or you need help with it, you
can come to Tech Soup and we can help
you with that.
Beyond these bookkeeping and finance
things, TAP provides a bundle of
services around AI implementation for
nonprofits and what nonprofit isn't
thinking about how to best use AI and
what not to use AI for right now.
If you are working with a large database
of the public or constituents or
beneficiaries that you work with, you
probably are using a CRM or a customer
relationship management platform, right?
Um those can be very deep and complex
and managing managing them is tricky. If
you need help with that, come take a
look at some of the CRM services that we
have um uh available. Um, every
nonprofit out there should be thinking
about cyber security every single day.
If your email and your website are not
secure, you are vulnerable to malware
and cyber attacks that can be extremely
expensive to rectify and may frankly be
hard to ever bounce back from fully. If
you're not paying attention to cyber
security as a nonprofit, you should
start right away. and we have a set of
services that can help you on that. I
really encourage you to think about that
specific topic as deeply as you can.
Lots of nonprofits have to work in this
digital marketing and social media space
because they're doing communications and
public education. Uh we have a number of
services through tap to help with those
as well. I already mentioned Google ad
grant services which you'll see on the
screen here. We also provide support for
um grant preparation services and like I
mentioned earlier that grant station
promotion is going on right now. Um and
newer to the catalog now for us are
services around HR, human resources,
right? Managing the the people who work
at your nonprofit, maybe even sometimes
volunteers or the board. If you need
help with that, you can come and check
out some of these services. Um, we have
another product called an IT help desk
service. So, let's say you're not
interested in a big managed IT package
that covers like all your technology
stack. Instead, the IT help desk service
focuses on like one particular piece of
technology. So, the example I always use
is perhaps you've got like some
sophisticated printer that you really
rely on, but it's prone to problems and
that's what you need help with. this is
the kind of service you would consider.
In any case, um I'll stop there on the
services overview page, but like I said,
um if you go up here to the services
dropdown, you'll see a number of uh
different options here. I really
encourage you to come through here and
take a look at what might be of interest
and helpful to your um to your
nonprofit.
Okay. Um, these are some of the services
that I just talked about right there.
I'm going to skip over this slide. And
now we're going to bring forward Kelly
Garrett from TechUp's customer service
group. She's an associate manager there.
Kelly and her team help you manage your
relationship with Tech Soup itself. They
don't help you figure out how to use
QuickBooks or how to load Microsoft
Office or how to use uh Adobe Creative
Cloud, right? but they can help you with
your Tech Soup account and making sure
you have access to the products and
services that you think you want to get
through the Tech Soup catalog. So, I'm
going to go off camera here and bring
forward Kelly and take it away.
Thank you so much, Nick. Um, welcome
everybody. I've been chatting with some
of you in our Zoom chat here. been
getting some great questions about
what's available and I'm going to be
highlighting um how you navigate the
website to request and learn about
authors, going through our Tech Soup
support site that has all of our support
articles that I've been pointing out to
different folks in our chat. So, really
good um opportunity to kind of learn how
to selfserve here along with how to get
in touch with us. So, first things first
I like to highlight is the typical
looking offer page. Um the offer page or
the product page is where you're going
to go to learn more about the offer that
you uh are interested in. Um it's where
you'll see all the information about it,
the admin fee that we're charging.
There's all that kind of stuff. So on
the page that you find, I always like to
highlight the QuickBooks online, one of
the QuickBooks online offers because it
is one of our more popular offers. Um
everyone loves QuickBooks online. you
get a really good savings with it for
those that are eligible to request the
offer. So, at the top you will see the
name of the product, service, um, offer
as we call them. And you'll see that it
calls out it's subscription. It's the
QuickBooks Online Plus. And underneath
that name, you're going to see a list of
information. So, it's going to tell you
who the donor partner is. That's the
corporate partner who creates and offers
the service or product. So into it is
the company that owns and creates and
manages QuickBooks Online and they're
the one that's donating this through
Tech Soup. Um the category there is
accounting and cloud computing. You can
click on either of those and it will
take you to our catalog and in the
catalog we have categories which I
believe Nick highlighted. So you can go
see all the accounting software we've
got. If for some reason you're not
interested in QuickBooks Online, um you
maybe not be eligible for QuickBooks
Online, lots of different reasons to go
and look at what else is out there, see
if it meets your organization's needs
better. Um and a reminder that all of
the products and services requested
through Tech the Tech Soup account must
be used by the organization that
requested them. Um, you can't give away,
donate, sell any of the offers available
in the catalog. Even if it's part of a
charitable program, even if it's to your
fiscally sponsored project or program,
it has to be used by the organization to
fulfill their mission. So, you want to
keep that in mind that it should be
meeting your organization's needs
because only your organization and the
programs you own and operate are
eligible to use your Tech Soup account.
So um going back to the information you
see here there's the accounting and
comput cloud computing I mentioned
underneath there was to mention the
platform. So if it was a Mac specific
product or PC specific product it would
call that out. Since this is a cloud
offer it's going to work across all
computer types since you're logging in
um online via cloud. Um, product ideas
there. Not a bad idea to note so you can
easily search for the product again if
you're kind of thinking about it or want
someone else in your organization to
look at it before you check out. Um, and
and that's really important because most
products and services have a no refund
or exchange policy. Once you get it,
you're kind of that's what you're
getting. So, you always want to make
sure you're confident in what you want
to request. There are nuances to that
policy. You know, if you don't use the
service at all, we confirm that. we can
absolutely um issue a refund, but for
physical products or services that were
used, a lot of times we can't issue
refunds or do exchanges for that. So,
important to make sure you're sharing
this with whoever is helping you um pick
out what you need for the organization
before you move on with adding it to
your cart and checking out. Um
underneath that section, you'll see the
admin fee. Tech does charge an admin fee
even for our donated products. Um as
Nick called out, we are a nonprofit
ourselves. These admin fees help us
continue to support the sector. So
that's why they are charged. We do see
some members sometimes who are asking
why isn't it free and it's you know it's
to cover our own cost as a fellow
nonprofit.
Um
underneath the admin fee you will see
either the login option or if you are
logged in there will be a big orange add
to cart button. Um, that's a great uh
something to keep in mind is it will be
also note your organization you're
checking out for. Um, someone asked in
the chat earlier, hey, you know, I'm
representing a bunch of different
nonprofits. How do I do that? We
absolutely allow representatives to add
as many organizations as they need to to
their Tech Soup account. And you just
want to make sure when you're checking
out that you are um checking out for the
correct organizations, the right
eligibility is being applied and the
correct organization's getting it.
That's important since we're not allowed
you're not allowed to share offers
amongst your clients kind of thing. Um
underneath there you'll see there's
three tabs of information. It's
important to go through all three tabs.
Most questions especially about like
subscriptions or services um are
answered in that middle tab on this
page. It's called sub subscription
details. It might have a different name
depending on the offer type. So, if it's
a perpetual desktop license that doesn't
expire, it's going to have, you know,
system requirements. For subscriptions,
you're going to see subscription
details. And a lot of times folks will
ask me um or ask our team, you know, oh,
how do I renew this product? Is it an
annual renewal? Is it, you know, what do
I have to do? A lot of that information
is for sure covered in the middle tab.
We try to put as much information on
here as possible so everybody can make
an informed decision and self-s serve
without having to reach out to Tech Soup
um to get confirmation on things. Uh
next slide, please.
Perfect. So, as you'll see, that's that
middle tab. For example, there's a
continuing service after one year. Um
that links you to an article about how
you renew your QuickBooks online. Um
there will also be other things about
existing members. you know, some are
existing subscribers or members. Some of
our products and services, the corporate
partner has set it up for only new
subscribers to get offers. So, for
example, with QuickBooks Online, it's
designed for a new QuickBooks Online
account and subscriber. That being said,
there is a workaround process um for
doing data migration to the new donated
subscription. And we do actually have an
int uh an in it data migration um
service that QuickBooks made easy
offers. So we have a service that goes
along with the workaround. We do try to
make sure we're supporting popular
support questions which that's a popular
one. Lots of folks like to get this
product but there is a bit of a
migration process if you're already an
existing member on the commercial
market.
Perfect. U next slide please.
Perfect. So, um, support options. Um, we
have two places you can go to get your
answers. Um, we have the help widget or
bubble at the bottom right corner of
pretty much every techup.org page. This
is where you can interact with our chat
aai to help get answers. And the chati
is usually pulling information from our
techup support site or from articles on
techup.org.
So either going through that um portal
to check for the articles or going up to
help and selecting techup support should
get you the information that you're
looking for. Um for example uh
QuickBooks online I did see some folks
asking earlier there's a whole bunch of
articles that cover um how you request
the product, how you migrate the data,
how you renew annually through Tech
Soup, and that information if you ask
those questions will get pulled into
that chat. um that chat widget right
there. It's the help widget. It's also
how you connect with our live chat um
which I'll go over here in a minute.
Next slide, please.
Next slide, please, Nick.
Yeah, I'm actually trying to get that. I
think we've hit the end of that slide.
There's not there should be three
several more slides um in the slide deck
related to client services and check and
stuff.
>> Yeah, they're they're actually not here.
>> Oh, okay. Um that's fine. Uh so really
quickly in our tech soup support um when
you go up there if you're watching you
can follow along or go and check it out
when you get there. Um but the techup
support and I'll put this in the our
I'll put this in our chat right now. so
everybody can get easil access to it.
But basically, once you get to the
landing page, you're going to be given
three different options. And Nick, I'm
happy to share my screen if that uh
helps with anything.
>> Give me one second here.
>> Yeah. Yeah, no worries. So, um that link
that I just shared, support.texup.org,
will take you to the support landing
page. You also can click on help at the
top of our uh website and select techup
support. The three sections that we have
right now for the US are going to be
general support, product support, and
Microsoft support. And I'll share my
screen here.
Perfect.
Okay, there we go. So in our techup
support, you'll see that we have the
three sections here. General support,
product support,
>> we can't we can't see the screen. You
share
>> share it really quickly.
>> Okay.
>> Sometimes you have to click share three
times for it to share. So here you go.
We've got the general support, the
product support, and the Microsoft
support. Um you can click on these
either of these sections to go review
those articles. You can also search for
them up here. You'll see also promoted
articles on this landing page. So, for
example, QuickBooks Online. I would
click on product support or I would have
typed in QuickBooks online. There's a
search option here as well. But you'll
see this is one of the first ones listed
here. So, you can click on these
articles. You can click on the header to
go and see all the articles. So, for
QuickBooks Online, I always recommend
folks that are interested in it on
checking out the how to request
QuickBooks Online article, the migrating
data, and how to renew. I did add links
to those in the Zoom chat earlier um in
the meeting as well. So, if you're
looking for that, it should be there for
you. Um but when you click on these, you
are going to see um
more information. Each of the contents
is going to have a link to the different
sections and it will should cover
everything that you're looking for about
that topic. So, this is a really good
place to come to and look for questions,
look for answers, see what's out there
that you maybe didn't even think about.
Um, so I do always recommend that we're
constantly in here making updates,
making sure our information is accurate
and covering anything that we've heard
from members or from our partners about
ways to be successful in accessing and
launching programs, uh, products and
services. Um,
one other thing to note is the how to
contact us is going to be detailed in
here too. We have our customer service
and support section and general support.
So, the first one listed is how do I
contact TechUp customer service? I'm
unable to access the live chat. And so,
these are great places to come. It's got
all the information you should need,
including step by steps for accessing
the live chat through our help widget.
Um, it's also got information about, you
know, what the current status is. We
sometimes hear from members that our
live chat isn't working or the help
widget's not available. You can always
come to this article to check and if we
are having any system issues, it will be
called out. We did have one in July
that's been noted. Um, but besides that,
everything should be functioning
properly. We're just really, really busy
right now and um trying to get to
everybody we can with our own resources
as a nonprofit. Um, so sometimes there
can be long wait times, which we do call
out in this article as well. Um, we've
got the upcoming closure dates, our
hours of operations,
etc., et, etc. And it does have links to
the other articles on how to get in
touch with us if you're unable to access
the chat. Um, we do have an alternative
option. So, in here you'll see it's all
the troubleshooting.
Um, this is from couple years of working
with members with our IT teams, chat
experts, and we've identified that this
is almost always the reason why, you
know, a help widget doesn't pop up for
somebody if there's no system issue. Um
but at the bottom here you will see
um there is a um alternative options for
contacting us. We do have a great
community forums um where members go in
and post stuff. They work with each
other. You're welcome to go in there and
interact with anybody. Um and then I'm
actually in there a lot of the times
keeping an eye on our uh program help
topic uh which is where you can post um
new you can post for uh post requests
for support if you're having trouble
getting in touch with us via our live
chat. it can take several business days
to get back to you um where the live
chat's going to be live connecting you
with representative. Um so just
something to keep in mind is that the
live chat's always the recommended
channel but we do have this alternative
option and we do try to get back to as
fast as we can but it can take a couple
business days.
So last but not least I do want to just
show you guys that live chat I keep
mentioning. Um, so when you are on our
Tech Soup website, as I mentioned, and
you did see it over on the support
website too, there is that little widget
at the bottom of the corner. Um, it
looks like we just changed it from
saying help to chat. Um, it used to say
help here. So, when you click on this,
um, you're going to be greeted by our AI
system here. And it does have a little
disclaimer about, you know, responses
are generated in AI.
But if you do need to contact an actual
representative and work with a person,
you absolutely can do that. Um, in our
how to contact us support article, it
explains that you have to use a term or
a phrase to get in to get the AI to
connect you with one of our
representatives. So, you'll just want to
make sure that you're looking at those
instructions, following them to get
connected. And once you do, you'll be
able to put in your contact information,
and then you'll enter a queue to wait
for the next representative to get to
you. Again, the queue can be a little
busy, and it has been very busy lately,
especially on like Mondays. Um, so it
can take a while for you to get
connected, but you should see updates
about where you are in the queue. And we
just recommend every once in a while
putting something into the chat just to
make sure your browser doesn't time out
um the chat and disconnect it for some
reason. A lot of times when there's
issues, it's related to browser
settings, security settings in the
browser or the version of the browser.
So, it's something to keep in mind that
you want to make sure you've got a good
steady connection to your internet and
your browser is up to-date, current
version, and it's allowing pop-up
windows and all of that stuff. All this
information again is covered in those
two articles I just highlighted. So, you
should be able to get in touch with us
as needed. Um, and we do appreciate our
members patience and understanding as in
this crazy nonprofit land as we work to
get to everybody and make sure everybody
gets support.
Perfect. And I believe that should cover
everything that I had for folks um
you'll see more as you explore and I do
recommend just poking around um and
getting to know both techup.org and
support.teexup.org.
We try to put as much as out there as we
can to allow you all to move smoothly
through accessing um the offers that
we've got out there. And I believe that
covers all of the questions that I saw
too. Let me just stop sharing here if I
can figure that out.
There we go. And I do see
that we do have some questions in here.
Well, while Kelly gets back to those
questions, um, thanks everybody for the
time you spent with us today. Sorry
about that little bug on our Google
slide. I managed to figure it out in the
background here, but thanks Kelly for
quickly picking it up. Um, and sharing
your screen in the meantime. Um, we will
send out a copy of this deck after the
webinar is over. There are live links in
it. Please feel free to follow those to
the site if there's a specific thing you
wanted to check in on more deeply. Uh
but honestly, I think your best path for
success here is just to go to the site
yourself, techup.org. Um check out
what's available there. Um and uh if
you're not already a member, please do
uh create a membership account uh using
that join button at the top right
corner. we do need to have your
nonprofit as a member of Tech Soup
before you can use um the catalog of
offers. And uh you know with that we'll
leave it and thank you very much for
your time today. Um if there's a
question you've asked in chat that you
are still waiting for an answer on um
please feel free to hang out for a
minute or two more while that while that
is answered. Um meantime I am going to
uh turn off video and audio here. Um,
and thank you all for attending today.
Have a great rest of your day.
>> And I think we are actually um caught up
with all the questions. There was just a
couple notes. It looks like some folks
were using an audit plan um to record
the meeting. So, anyone that was
recording, that's great. But just so you
know, we are going to be sending you a
recording after this. Artha will send
out that email. You will There's also
the YouTube channel, both of which I
highlighted in the chat earlier. So, if
you look up Tech Soup in YouTube, you
can find all of our past recordings. And
if you signed up for this me uh this
webinar, you will get a follow-up with
the recording and all of that. So, you
can reference this whenever you'd like.
We also do this every month. Some folks
like have I know some members I've
talked to have actually come a couple
times just to kind of double check some
things and like that. So, you're more
than welcome to join us again, but the
recording is out there for each one of
these sessions that we have once a
month. So, thank you everybody. And I
think that covers all the questions in
chat and all the questions in the Q&A as
well. And thank you for everybody
putting in your thanks. Appreciate
y'all. Go nonprofits. Woo.
>> All right. Thank you. Bye everybody.
Great job, Kelly and Nick. See you soon.
Bye.
