Weekly Vlog: family brunch, birthday parties, dinner chats & shopping + haul!

[music] [music] Hello friends, a very good day of gathering very very long back from the entire face. >> Good morning, friends. I have literally just finished my makeup. I have a roller in my hair. I never like put a roller through my hair for work, to be honest. But my fringe looks really like out of control when I don't blow dry it nicely in the mornings. And I've done my makeup. My makeup nowadays for work is literally 6 minutes. I feel like I've mastered mastered can't get my words out. I've mastered the no makeup makeup routine. This past week has been very crazy because I have been so sick. I've been so unwell. I don't know if you guys can hear it, but I'm like very bunged up and I'm finally starting to feel better. Um, but my even my ears are blocked. So, I feel like I'm talking quieter than usual because I don't know if I'm talking too loud or not. And everyone keeps saying to me, "Huh, what did you say?" Um, it is coming up to the last few weeks of me being at my current hospital. And genuinely, I am going to miss everyone here so much. like some people in particular have just really shaped who I am as a obstitrician and gynecologist and I'm for ever grateful to them and yeah I'm just trying to soak everything in and really take in from my experience here. It has been two years that have been challenging in so many ways um and have caused me to grow and I feel like I'm grateful to have had this experience to be here and work in one of the busiest maternity units in the country and I believe the busiest maternity unit in London. Um so it's been incredible. Um, but at the same time, I feel like some of the things in my life have had to take a pause because I've had to do this job that is so far away from my house. So, on the flip side, my new job starting in October is going to be very close to my house. Um, it's actually at my local hospital. Um, so I'm excited to work there and I've heard such great things about the team there and um, so many of my like colleagues and consultants have like delivered their babies, had their own babies there as well, which is really cool. I'm just excited for this next chapter. This week I'm mainly on the anti ward at work. So what that essentially means is in anti ward we have like two groups of patients. The first group are the people who have come for inpatient inductions of labor. So they have a risk factor in pregnancy that means that they cannot wait for natural labor i.e. when their waters break or their contractions start by themselves. We need to kind of start that process for them sooner rather than sitting and waiting for it to happen. Um and then the second group of patients are patients who are pregnant um but a complication has arisen during pregnancy whether that be to do with the pregnancy or their own health. Um and then we take care of them kind of like other patients on inatient wards. So that's what I deal with um on that ward. And then um I also give advice to um the juniors who run the postnatal ward and that is um patients who have already delivered um and they are um still an impatient for um whatever reason maybe recovery afterwards or blood pressure control, blood sugar control if they're like type 2 diabetic, um infection, loads of different reasons. It is an interesting um place to be this week and I will keep you guys posted. I'm just going to get changed into my work outfit. Quick little outfit reveal. This is my top and skirt. Actually, my top is my mom's. Everyone always asks me where I get my cute work outfits from, and it is almost always from my mom's closet. And perfume of the day is the Granada Espondor. It's like a vanilla scent. And I never used to like vanilla, but now I really do. So, off we go to work. The time is currently What time is it? It is 2:40 p.m. I have finished my jobs on the wall that I'm covering. I'm just following up on like some of the plans here on the computer. And then as you can see there's like loads of boxes around. Some of these are for audits. I've actually done my audits. Um but that is another thing that we kind of have to do. Not kind of have to do we have to do as doctors is at least undertake one audit every year. An audit is where we look at uh something that we're already doing and seeing if we are if there is any way that we can kind of improve the way that we are doing it. And we tend to do it in like two cycles. God sorry it's so cold in here. So, we actually have to do that like in our own time, unpaid as a doctor. Um, but in the rare occasion that like it's something like this now where I've got my all jobs are like mostly done and I'm sat in the office, I could potentially work on my audit, I'm going to revise as well. Um, which is like something that again doesn't really like we don't really get to do in our own time is do some revision or admin. Um, not every job in medicine, by the way, is like this. As in you can have some jobs where you do a ward round in the morning. This is mainly like in internal medicine where you do like a ward round in the morning and you have like different tasks and jobs to like do throughout the day. Um, and then like things can kind of like slow down towards the end of the day and you like start preparing like discharge letters for people for the rest of the week. Um, and it just really depends, yeah, like where you're working, what department you're in. But in this specialty, I would say we're always busy. We've always got something to do. Um, but the fact that we even have like an antiatal ward is kind of niche to my not niche, but like more something my current hospital would have than anywhere else because it is just it serves such a big population that we need like a ward for this. Um, but yeah, that is kind of what I'm up to this afternoon. And then hopefully I have the energy to go to the gym afterward. Even if it's like a short workout, I feel like I'll feel much better. Sol and I are in Selfridges. We >> Selfridges. I'm a Selfridges girl and not a Harold girl. I feel like Hars is just an extra 20 minute commute for us, but also another reason why a baby does everything. So convenient. >> Yeah. So, it's my dad's birthday uh tomorrow. He's getting him some presents. We're getting a cake. So, some makeup brushes. And I really fancy some dinner. I love these. [music] >> What did you pick up? >> Foundation brush. >> I have this guys. It's so good. What was the other one? Real techniques from like you >> back in the day. >> I like the Dior brushes as well for concealer. I like the Kylie brush. The triangular shade is really nice. Outfit of the night cuz it's Friday night. RTD [music] is a Polaroid. >> I have no idea. A Polaroid. Soul's new outfit of the night. Look at how poorly made it. I'm not sure you can see it in the camera, but like that is a frayed hair, man. Oh, maybe it's by purpose. Maybe it's by purpose. Yeah. Um, what I want is not on this floor. See? Yes. From me. Very cute. And I'm getting this bodysuit from Wford. I really want some dimong. I hope it doesn't shock. Let's get there. We've also got our cake. So you playing together? I have. So we ended up ordering what did we order? the spicy prawn and pork one ton >> and uh yeah, spicy sauce. And then we got the chicken xo long bao with spicy sauce. There's a theme. Then we got the chili crab and pork buns. We're going to dip in our spicy sauce. >> Is that it? Wow. You want something like this? I don't mind. Or do you want like an egg fried rice with you? Cuz I picked everything. This is the chicken. You're leaning on a can of Coke. Okay. Don't It's getting too hot. It needs strong. I like it. Is this the Is this the walk? >> I don't know if you're meant to hold this with your hand, but it's what I need. Dude, it's so good. This like chicken and roast dish is water. It is. I'm going to poke some holes. What about like a guy who just like how can you marry a guy who likes to do like how you do I the fact that they always that he would say would cheapen it because it's not nice when it's said like this. And one day I wore flats and I got blisters from flats and not heels. And everyone's like, "How do you wear heels?" I'm like, "Have you met my mother?" Literally. [laughter] >> Honestly though, I get that all the time. Everyone's like, "You always look so nice for work. How comes do you have time to put makeup on every single morning and get dressed and do your hair and everything?" And I'm like, "Do you think my mom would let me ever go to ever?"
