Video summary
In this weekly budget update covering July 7th through the 13th, Yosha D from Norris Cove returns to her financial planning routine after skipping June due to an inability to keep up with tracking totals. She begins by reviewing her starting balance for the week, which includes a rollover of approximately $550 and specific allocations for hair and nails totaling around $1,500, along with a separate fund allocated for No Code expenses at $50. Although she admits that some payments have already been made or exceeded these initial estimates, particularly regarding her No Code spending, she uses this session to mentally organize her finances rather than strictly adhering to rigid totals from previous months.
Throughout the week, Yosha details various recurring and variable subscriptions scheduled for payment between July 1st and the end of the month. These expenses include significant charges such as Amazon on the first, Apple Care and Acuity in early July, followed by Canva, Apple Music, Navy Federal Credit Union contributions, CapCut, Shopify payments, Epidemic Sound, T-Mobile bills which she notes have increased due to a new watch purchase, Netflix, Zoom, Barclays debt repayment of $150, GoDaddy fees for an unused email account, and State Farm insurance. She also mentions receiving deposits from clients who are supporting Asian businesses, funds that she intentionally leaves untouched in her Square accounts as a form of passive saving while waiting to receive new cards or make specific purchases like salon supplies later on.
Despite missing out on writing down exact totals for every transaction during this period, Yosha emphasizes the importance of remaining mindful about where her money is going even without constant logging. She explains that after tracking meticulously from January through May, she has maintained a strong mental awareness of her spending habits regarding groceries at Target and Walmart, as well as other miscellaneous purchases like soap and baking supplies for her toaster oven. This period of less formal tracking allowed her to build up a buffer in one of her bank accounts exceeding $500, which serves as an emergency fund or reserve for unexpected bills that might arise later in the month.
The video concludes with Yosha calculating her remaining balance after subtracting all known expenses and planned savings contributions from her total available funds. She aims to transfer at least $200 into a high-yield savings account by saving roughly $50 weekly, leaving herself with approximately $1,155 in cash reserves for the rest of July once she accounts for deposits still sitting in her business accounts. While she expresses interest in designing new downloadable budget sheets and potentially moving forward with CP 2 planning next month, she acknowledges that current priorities have shifted away from strict planning tools as she focuses on managing debt repayment and maintaining financial stability through simple cash savings methods like keeping physical dollar bills handy for easy transfers out of her wallet.

Hey everyone, welcome to or welcome back
to Norris Cove. If you're new here, I'm
Yosha D and here at the Cove we like to
budget and plan in confidence using a
planner. Today you guys, we're going to
be doing a weekly budget,
a paycheck budget. I haven't done one in
a while. Let's see.
Last one I did
Mhm.
May.
Yep, it was May.
So,
we skipped all of June.
So, let's get into July. Now, I know I
was supposed to be like starting to do
my um
totals. Y'all, I I I couldn't keep up. I
I could not keep up.
So, this past week, so we got another
month of no totals. Let's see if I did
do June June and July. We'll do July
together for the month.
So, I'm going to use my monthly calendar
just as a um
whatever. So, this is July.
And we have rollover.
Rollover it
It was about
uh let's say 550.
I spent some money today. And then we
have hair.
And I'm just going to put hair and
nails.
And then I'm going to put no cove.
And for hair and nails I'm going to put
15.
Uh
1500. I think we're going to come in a
little bit more. And then for no cove
we're going to put 50.
Okay, let's see what we have to do this
week. Today is actually Monday. It's the
6th. I don't have anything to do today,
but tomorrow we have Canva.
Canva is, I think, $16.
Apple Music on the 8th.
And that's like 12 and some change, but
I'm going to put uh 12.
And we'll come back
next week with the actual amount. Let me
zoom in just a little bit. Okay, and
then
that's all that we have this week. I
have already put 350
um $300. Well, kind of 350 cuz 50 was
already in my card account, so we
already have that. And then we have on
the 11th, we have our suite rent.
And even though I'm not doing um
like my totals, I have been very mindful
of my money. I still like I knew I had a
whole lot of money after last week. And
I was off Saturday. And I just got some
things that I wanted. I did spend about
200 on groceries, so I was kind of
mindful there. And then I went to Target
today and got a few little things like
kind of like uh healthy food things. And
did I get anything regular? No, just
pretty much it was pretty much uh oh
yeah, I got soap, stuff like that. Um
body wash. So, that was like um
it came up to about 40-something
dollars. And then I went to Walmart and
just got some little baking things for
my little toaster oven. And I spent
about $15 there. And so, I'm very
mindful of the things that I'm spending
my money on, but still I would like to
be writing them down. But, let me
preface this by saying
so, from January to May of me tracking
everything that I spent and spend and
bringing in putting in in my totals and
things like that, it pays off. So, when
these months where I haven't been
tracking, I'm still mentally um
tracking. I'm also mentally aware of
where my money has been going, what I'm
spending it on, you know, things like
that. So, that is that.
Okay, for expenses,
uh we don't I don't think we need gas.
I'm not going to put gas down. Um over
here, we have our regular, which is
miscellaneous.
I'm going to put I've already spent some
money, so let's just put down 200. And
then for food and grocery, I think
I'm done, okay? I think I'm done. I
actually I know I spent about 200 on
that. So, we're going to put uh 250
here. Um so far, I don't think I have
I've Mm,
no, I don't have to pay on my trip. I've
already paid on my trip. My girls' trip,
so let's just do some math here. So, it
looks like that's 328. This does not
seem right. This does not seem right,
but those are the only two bills that I
have this week. Oh, I do have Afterpay.
And I've already paid them. They are due
tomorrow, but I went ahead and paid them
today, and it was like $17 and some
change. Okay, so let's
pull out the calculator.
I think it's 35 335.
I'm missing nails. This is how hard I've
been working. I have not been able to
take care of myself, and we don't even
want to talk about my hair, okay? We
don't even want to talk about that. So,
thank god y'all can't see me. So, it's
345.
That's what we have to pay, and I do
want to give my high-yield savings
account some money this week.
And I went back to doing my little cash
savings of my dollars and my fives,
because it's just so simple, and I can
just move it right out of my wallet. So,
I do want to give them 50. So, let's see
what we got going on here.
So, with rollover
your 550, 1,500. And I know I had more
money than that, but you know, whatever.
Hold on.
550 plus 1,500 plus
50
is
2,1
hundred dollars. Mhm.
Okay. So, let's subtract 345.
1,755
is our remaining. I'm putting that here.
1,755. I do want to kind of design some
new
uh budget sheets,
but I really like the way these came
out. Also,
um I don't know, like I said, if I'm
going to keep the shop going, so it
would probably be senseless, but anyway.
Um if anything, it just be downloadable
as they are right now. And then over
here under envelopes, we have 450, but
for some reason I think I'm forgetting
something. Let me
look back.
Miscellaneous, family, and salon. Do I
need anything for I do need some salon
products. I just don't know.
I'mma put a hundred.
No code week. We spent money on no code
last week, which was ink.
Uh family
food groceries
Oh.
How you saving? Okay, so that's pretty
much it. So, we have
405, 550 is our total
here.
And then remaining, subtract
it leaves us with 1,200 and five
dollars.
And then let's subtract this 50.
And that's 1,000
Hold on.
50 and then that leaves us a remaining
of 1,000
155.
And I actually need to Well, the 300 is
still in the bank. The 350 is still in
the bank. So, that's cool. So, we have a
remaining of 1,155
which
if you're not new here, I'm
self-employed. This can always change.
So, I like to just leave this. And also,
I've been trying to keep a buffer and I
forgot about my buffer. So, I do have a
little bit more than 550. I have a
little buffer in one of my bank accounts
that I can just transfer back and forth
for little bills that I may not know
about. Um also, I forgot some more money
I got. I've I got money in like
every account in my Square account that
um I'm trying not to touch right now.
It's like when I have new people I I
think I explained this to you guys, but
I have new people coming to me because
some people aren't supporting Asians.
And so, if they pay a deposit, I just
keep that in there. I'm not touching it
right now.
And it's just another way for me to
save. And I ordered me another
Square card. So, that way when um I get
the card and if I need to use that for
some salon stuff, I can. So,
that is that.
That's it.
I did not go in and write down my
monthly budget um like I had I did the
monthly overview, but not this part
right here. So, this is July. So, we're
going to go ahead and do this. I also
was going to do this off camera, but
we're going to do this together on
camera. Um so, on the 1st we have
Amazon.
That's 1589.
It was actually 1589. That's already
came out. Um the 2nd was Apple.
And this is my Apple Care. It's $3.49
that has come out.
And then on the third is Acuity.
And it's like 21 and some change. I
think it's 2120.
That's already come out.
And then let's go.
Amazon, Acuity, Apple.
Canva is on the 7th.
Now, that hasn't come out.
And I think I said
$17. I'm not sure.
And then on the 8th we have Apple Music.
And that's about $12.
And then we go to the 13th.
I'm going to write that down.
No, that's not That's next week. The
13th we have Navy Federal Credit Union.
And I don't think I already sent them
something, but I'm going to give them
50.
And then on the 16th Oh, we have CapCut
on the 13th as well.
CapCut, I'm not sure how much CapCut is.
I think it's $10.
And then on the 16th we have Shopify.
I'm going to put them down for a
This is a actually a variable expense,
but I'm going to go and put them down
here at 70 five. And then on the 21st we
have Epidemic.
And it's really like $19 and I'll just
put 20.
And then the 21st we have T-Mobile.
T-Mobile went up one, I had to get a new
watch. Um two, I saw it was $170. And
then plus their prices have went up. So,
my best bet is to try to get that watch
paid off as soon as possible. And I
actually just go ahead pay pay it off,
but I don't want to.
The 23rd,
um we have
Netflix.
And that's like $27. It's like $26.49.
$26.49.
And then we have Zoom on the 23rd.
And I believe that is like $16.
And then on the 27th, we have Barclays.
That would be under
>> [sighs and gasps]
>> It's the same, but it's like
uh a debt, so
Barclays.
And it is [snorts] 150.
And then we also have GoDaddy on the
27th.
This is for my email, which I do not
use. It's like 11.50,
something like that.
And then on the 28th,
we have State Farm.
And then on the 30th, I wrote down CNP,
but I'm not sure if I'll be getting
them. Right now, I'm just not really
into any planning things. I don't need
any planning things, so that's that.
Variable expenses,
we could actually move
my State Farm. Oh, I didn't fill in
State Farm. Yeah, State Farm varies, but
it's been coming in around about 404, so
I'm just going to put 405 here. CNP, I'm
just going to put 60, but that's not
what it's going to be.
And savings and other, so my high-yield
savings account, um for the month, I
would like to have in at least $200.
Like doing like $50 a week.
Uh let's see. Anything else? That's it.
That's going to be my monthly That's how
I do fill out Excuse me. This is how I
fill out my monthly budget breaking
everything down and then when I the
things come in I just write in the
correct amount here and then I'll do my
total of course at the end of the month
and then my rollover was 425
um
hair 5,000 nails 1,500 and then no code
at 100 and I think we're going to
already
surpass this on no code but
that's it and this is again is what my
monthly July is looking like
and that's it you guys. Next step I'm
hoping hopefully to get into
the CP 2
but that's all I have for you guys
