Video summary

On a Tuesday morning, Sonali kicked off her week by attending a Rodan + Fields event at The Wayback on the West Side of Austin, where she enjoyed a sound bath meditation and connected with new local creators. Before heading out, she shared details about her recent Korean lash lift from Lumina Studio Co., noting that her makeup artist had advised against it due to potential application difficulties with false lashes for an upcoming trip to Cabo. Her day continued at the gym, where she documented a significant personal milestone by wearing a matching Set Active set without a covering shirt, expressing increased confidence and weight loss since starting medication in September. To support her ongoing fitness journey, she also purchased a Brother 2000 sewing machine to hem curtains and alter clothes as she continues to lose weight, with plans to take sewing classes soon. The evening was filled with social activities and culinary delights as Sonali drove to The Domain for an Aesop event before heading to Sushi Bar ATX for an omakase dinner with her fiancé, Ryan, to celebrate his upcoming 29th birthday. Their night included a stop at Whole Foods to film a partnership ad for Aveline wine and a visit to HEB to buy cookie dough cream cheese dip, followed by coffee cake and iced oat lattes at Fleet Coffee. The following morning, Sunday, she visited Lavaca Coffee downtown and toured a friend's urban garden featuring passion fruit, grapes grown from a cutting over 18 months, and various other plants. Although the rainy season has slowed growth in her own garden, she highlighted new okra blooms and reinforced tomato vines before concluding the day with a maternity photoshoot for a fellow Austin creator in an urban garden setting. Throughout the week, Sonali also took time to appreciate the unique landscape of Texas, specifically discussing Zoysia grass, a hybrid engineered by Texas A&M to thrive in the local climate. This specific type of grass is a mix of native Texas and Japanese varieties, designed to look lush during the summer but deteriorate significantly in winter. She noted its aesthetic appeal, comparing it to Dr. Seuss illustrations, while acknowledging its seasonal limitations with humor. This blend of personal milestones, social gatherings, gardening observations, and local insights captures the essence of her dynamic week in Austin.

[music] >> Hello, welcome back to the channel. My name is Sonali, if you guys are new here. We have another very eventful week because it is my fiance's birthday this weekend. So we have lots of fun plans with our friends on the weekend, but I thought I would start the vlog early and it's currently Tuesday. You guys know Mondays are like admin days for me. I barely pick up the camera. But today we are starting off the morning with an event at the Wayback. I'm going to go drive over to the west side in a second. It's for Rodan and Fields and the only reason I know Rodan and Fields is from like their eyelash serum that was like super popular back in the day. So I'm really hoping I can get my hands on some of that. I've been using the Sweed eyelash serum for like months now and I feel like it works so so well. I feel like I've talked about the Korean lash lift that I got so many times, but that might have been on my Tik Tok. So if I haven't said anything on YouTube, I got a Korean lash lift from Lumina Studio Co. I'll have like her Instagram popped up here. She is insane and I do really think that a Korean lash lift is so much different than a regular lash lift. Like I swear my eyelashes are so curled and I got that first one done I think it was like March. But I'm kind of sad because I really wanted to get it done before we went to Cabo. We're going in a month for our wedding tasting, hair and makeup trial, wedding planning, all the things. We're just literally going for like three or four days. We're going to have a jam-packed schedule, but I'm getting my hair and makeup trial done and I asked my makeup artist about like the lash lift cuz I really wanted to get it before and I had it scheduled for me to get it literally a week before and she was like, "Actually, I prefer you not to get it because it's hard for me to put on like the false lashes." So now I have to wait till after Cabo and I'm bummed about it cuz I've been really really wanting another lash lift, but she's been like booked out. So if you guys are in Austin and you want to try it out, definitely look at her calendar ASAP because she doesn't have like a ton of availability. Also, this morning I was feeling really vulnerable on Tik Tok and I decided to wear like just a matching set to the gym and like that is a big deal for me, you guys, because I always wear a loose tank top or a loose t-shirt over my matching set and it just doesn't quite hit, you know? Like it's literally ruining the vibes of the matching set. So, today I decided to go just in my matching set. I forced myself. No t-shirt, [clears throat] no tank top. Woke up and decided to be real vulnerable with you guys this morning, but I'm doing something that I've always wanted to do at the gym, which is literally just wearing a matching set. No t-shirt over it. I always wear like a tank top or a t-shirt. Look how dingy this is, number one, and I don't know, I just feel like it's my safety. It's like my comfort zone and I know people in the gym are not looking at me like that. Like I know people are focused on their own workout, but in my head I'm like, "Oh my gosh, my roll." I've been on Cheers Up High since September and I think I've lost like 30 lb so far. Um, but don't get me wrong, you guys. I'm putting in the work in the gym. Like I feel the strongest I've ever felt. In general, I just feel so much more confident. I'm so so happy that I finally made the decision to like start the medication because I had been thinking about it for like a year and a half. I do a lot of weight lifting. I also have been taking this creatine for like 2 years. These are Ray gummies. I really like them. I've never felt bloated from them. I was thinking I should just bring this t-shirt in the car just in case I like chicken out at the last minute, but you know what? I'm going to force myself to just wear this set. And I know, again, it sounds funny, but shout out to the new Set Active collection for making me feel so snatched and confident without a shirt. I wonder if I'm going to regret this when I start moving and grooving, but either way, I wanted to document this milestone. And I posted on Tik Tok. I literally have it in my goals. I like my health and fitness goals is to like not wear a tank top to the gym. So, that happened today. And so, we are wearing another set for this event. They said that there wasn't really a dress code, just like athleisure. But then they said that it would be nice for you to wear blue. And I have this new Set Active set on from their newest launch. They officially have a pop-up here in Austin, which I'm so excited about, but it's also going to be so dangerous cuz it's here till the fall. Since I'm here, I need to That's so all time and, you know, the beauty of you and kind of loving what you see is really what Rodan + Fields all about. sound meditation today in nature, which is absolutely my favorite way to share this. a lot of fluting sound baths this summer. So, you're in the The event has ended, and I've never done a sound bath before. And I definitely fell asleep, but like my mind was running with thoughts while I was asleep. It was just like such a weird feeling, but it was definitely so relaxing. And thank god the weather was perfect. I was really worried that it was going to be kind of rainy this morning and just like hot outside, but it was like breezy and you could hear like the birds. And it was just so nice. Like I would definitely be down to do a sound bath again, even though I for sure just fell asleep. For me as a creator, it's so hard to just be off of my phone, even though like I tried to like get my done. And sometimes I'll set like 10 or 15-minute timers where I cannot touch my phone, but like that was so different obviously because you're truly like being with your thoughts and just like quieting your mind. At the event I met three new creators that I think they all just moved here within the past like couple of months. So that's so fun and they were all so sweet. I just love our Austin creator community. Everyone's so friendly and like so willing to meet people and make friends. I did a little outfit change in the car and I'm just driving over like 5 minutes down the road over to the well because I'm meeting Lauren which she is starting a series on her Instagram. I forgot what it's called, but I'll figure it out in a second. In this series she interviews Austin creators or maybe just like people around town and so I'm so honored that she asked me to do this and it was perfect because I think she does live like over on the west side so I was already here. So I was like let's just do it today. I'm all glammed up. I'm with Lauren and she's starting an Instagram series called let's get curious. Where you interview people worth knowing about 1-minute interviews. >> Love it. >> I feel like I always stutter during stuff like this so I'm really hoping that that doesn't happen as much and I'm going to try to use the least amount of filler words as possible. >> I think it went way better than I thought it would but funny story I'm not wearing underwear because I wasn't wearing underwear with my leggings and I did a little change in the car and we are just real sweaty right now. I don't think I used that many filler words but honestly I could probably watch the video back and be like I said like every other word cuz that's like me in every TikTok. I don't even realize it. It's so bad. I had a call like right after this but it rescheduled so that's kind of nice because I was going to like rush home for that. I was going to pick up a matcha at the well but I'm going to be a good girl and make my matcha at home. >> I'm officially a serial hobbyist because I did end up getting a sewing machine. I don't think I put it in the last vlog, but my friend Kiana has a sewing machine and for so long we were like, we need to like learn how to sew and embroider and all these things. So, she convinced me to get my own. So, I ended up going with the Brother 2000. This is a sewing and embroidery machine. I think I said that. The reason why I chose this machine is cuz it has a bigger hoop and a lot of like the TikTok comments said that you would easily outgrow the 4x4 hoop that comes with like the cheaper machines. This one was a little bit more expensive, but I felt like since I was already investing in it, might as well go big or go home. Kiana did show me a tutorial on how to like thread the needle and it like self-threads, which is so nice. And last night I was fixing some stuff and I broke the needle and I FaceTime Kiana and I told her and she was like, wait, you already broke a needle? I don't know what happened. I think I was just like going too fast, but my first project is hemming some curtains. This is what I worked on with Kiana, but I I just like two panels of like this certain curtain that goes right beside my bed, but the curtains that go in front of our bed were always so long. There's like eight panels of them. I did five last night, so I only have three left and I basically I'm just like in the groove of it that I can just like crank them out today. I haven't even tried out the embroidery part. Some people said it was easier than sewing, which is like very interesting cuz it seems so much more complicated, but obviously I'm just like doing very very simple sewing techniques. Like I'm literally just like hemming the curtain up. So it's not like I'm making shirts or dresses yet, but that is literally what made me want to get a sewing machine. I went to the tailor and got something literally just taken in by an inch or two and he charged me $80, which I understand it's work and he has a lot of other clients that he can really charge whatever he wants. But in that moment I decided that sewing is a very good skill to have. So one day we will get to the point where we can like take in our clothes, especially because I'm on Terrace at side and I'm losing weight and now like half of my closet doesn't really fit. And I also saw some tutorials on Tik Tok of how to like take in jeans. I really don't know how involved that is, but I'm also thinking about taking some sewing classes in Austin. There's like so many more than I ever thought there would be. Me and Keonna literally tried to sign up for one right when it dropped and it was sold out within like the minute. So I don't know, maybe there's a lot more sewers in Austin than I even thought. We just have these simple white Target curtains in our bedroom and I'm just going to hem them up 2 in just so they're not touching the floor. It really did make the biggest difference when I did the curtains next to my bed because those are in a lot of my videos, a lot of my fashion videos and it just like looks so bad. Now they're a little above it and it looks a lot cleaner. So I'm hoping when I put them back up they look really good. Although recently I did switch out some curtains down here in the living room to ones on a track and I don't think these can go on a track because those are like already pleated, but I was tempted to get all new curtains and like tracks for the upstairs bedroom, but you know, this is a little bit more cost-effective. Once you get a house, everything just starts adding up. I mean, furniture is expensive, window treatments are expensive. There are so many things that I would love to switch out in our house, but right now it's just not in the budget. Like I would love to switch out this one rug in our bedroom. I've had it since our second apartment here, and it just like is not the vibe anymore, but for now it works. I do check Facebook Marketplace pretty often, but these days it's more for like pots for my plants. Also, can we take a pause and just go see the garden because I'm so happy with how it looks, and I have been buying a lot of plants from nurseries. Like I tried to start a ton from seed, but unfortunately this year like it's been so rainy. I don't even know. Like every year is so different, even though I'm doing similar things maybe with better technique every year, but it's just like getting worse and worse. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Either way, I do want to give you guys a really quick garden tour cuz I feel like everything's blooming right now. First of all, this stunning tree is finally blooming. I feel like we were waiting for so long, but this is called a crepe myrtle, this pink one. Oh, I think it's a little humid out here. There we go. It's so pretty, and it just hangs right over the pool, which is bad because it gets in the pool, but you know, for aesthetic reasons it's gorgeous. We got some new plants for these planters this year. I think they're called salvia. Um I believe they're a Texas native, and I'm really trying to get a lot more native plants so that they actually last through the summer. I recently just put some vincas over here. They do really well in high heat. Hey Sophie. We do need to clean up the deck a a bit. There are snapdragons right over here, which are gorgeous. I think they're a little scorched right now. I'm honestly surprised that they have survived as long as they have. But, those are all of my garden beds over there. And back here, I have a ton of new plants. My tomatoes aren't doing so great, but there are a couple of tomatoes. I don't know if you see that one back there. Ooh, and then another one. Oh my gosh, okay. We got three. We got three, you guys. In general, I definitely thought I would have a lot more tomatoes by now. My cucumber plant back there is going crazy, although I haven't seen a very big cucumber. Like, I see really really baby ones. And I just really haven't seen a ton of pollinators in my garden, which makes me a little nervous, cuz that's what's got to happen to make the fruit and veggies. And I got so many flowers that actually attract butterflies and bees, but I really just have not been seeing much of them. So, I guess I got to put a sign out and be like, "Hello." Like, these are the flowers that attract butterflies, I believe. I did get a couple rose plants this year. This is a David Austin rose plant, and it is the Claire Austin rose, and it was gorgeous, but it lasted for like 2 days, which was really sad. Here is a Peggy Martin rose. I didn't get to see a bloom, cuz I got it so late in the season, but um I just asked the nursery people, and they said expect to see blooms in like late fall. You guys, my zinnias and cosmos, they're usually the flowers that do so well for me, and I started all of these from seed, but nope. I mean, I've gotten it like maybe three cosmos bloomed, but no zinnias, which sucks, cuz I'm like, "Damn. I thought thought that was like my default flower." Although, these are zinnias over here. I did get those from the nursery, so that's why they are looking good. These are actually calla lilies, even though they haven't bloomed yet. They are from like the first year I gardened. They just like popped right back up. All over here we have so many edible flowers, which I'm so excited to see how they turn out. These are probably like the last seeds I planted, so hopefully they bloom soon. This year we got some melons up in here. So I think there's like watermelon, a honeydew melon, maybe a butternut squash. And then I also planted these stunning blue flowers. Are these salvia? I think they're the same kind of plant. I could be wrong, but they are really pretty and I really really hope they bush out a lot. Here's our gigantic peach tree, which the squirrels stole all the peaches this year for the second time in a row and only after I saw that you should be putting like these disco balls in your trees to try to scare them away. You can also put CDs in your trees, but I got those at Dollar Tree and I really wish I did that beforehand because we could have had some really yummy peaches, but this tree definitely needs to be pruned next year. It's going to go crazy. It's like very hairy looking. I'm so excited about this flower. I actually don't know what it's called, but I just picked it up at the nursery like this weekend and it just gives like English garden vibes. It's so pretty. Some pink little flowers. I don't know if this is a rose though. There's jasmine growing over here and then I also picked up this blackberry plant at the nursery this weekend and there's actually blackberries growing on it. How cool is that? We got a flower blooming. This is a JFK rose. Stunning white rose and there's a couple other buds on this plant, so it's going to be gorgeous. It looks even better when the lawn is freshly cut. It's like my favorite thing ever. You guys, I'm such an adult. This is just my life now. One of the projects I want to do with the sewing machine is create new bench cushions or like a cushion cover that's easily removable because Sophie had an accident on them and it stained them pretty bad. So, I use those pillows to cover a lot of the stain. But, look how gorgeous the garden looks in the back of this kitchen nook. Which reminds me, we need to clean those windows. I don't know why they're so dirty, but let's get to work. Got to crank them out. >> [music] [singing] [music] >> Which one of those? This one is? >> Doesn't matter. The moment of truth. Did I measure right? It's perfect. Yay! >> [music] [music] >> Hi. I'm good. No, literally. I It's [music] weird because I still feel like I'm new, but I'm really 7 years in. That's definitely not new. So, I just got off a call with a talent agency and I have a lot of thoughts on talent agencies in general. I've been a self-managed creator pretty much my whole career and I've been doing this since like 2013. I did a dabble with getting a talent agency maybe like two or three times, mostly non-exclusive, which is very different from exclusive, but um last year I tried exclusive for 4 months and it just like didn't go the way I like thought it would. And it was during the last quarter with Christmas and Thanksgiving and all the sales, so you would think it would be so helpful. But, let me know if you guys want me to get like more in-depth about that. I also know that my biggest weakness is delegation and I think that's another reason why I am trying to just like do everything myself because at the end of the day I am self-employed. I also have photography, but I do have a lot more time than like the average creator that works a 9-5. So, as long as I can manage it myself, I feel like I should because when you hire a management company, they take 20% of what you're making for everything. Even if a brand emails me straight through my inbox, they get a cut of that. And in the past, especially with communication for brand deals, I just felt like I would have rather talked directly to the brand and not had to wait for like my manager to like relay the information to me and then relay the information back to them. So, anyways, those are just like my initial thoughts. Um I was open to having this conversation just cuz I feel like in the past I've had so many bad experiences with management and I I I don't want that to be like my stigma. So, I'm really trying to cancel it out in my mind, but unfortunately, I've just like been burned. Honestly, a bunch that I almost don't even trust anyone, but I obviously want to grow and I feel like I'm kind of just stuck right now. Feel like I'm just posting every single day. It's never-ending. Oh my goodness, like I just don't really feel like super fulfilled from it anymore. So, that's why I'm really trying to get back into YouTube because this is like my weekly project and I feel way more fulfilled posting one video, even though it barely gets any views on YouTube, compared to my TikToks, which take 30 seconds to film, 30 seconds to edit, and 30 seconds to post, and they get like thousands of views. Um but I feel like this is like my creative outlet. I really never get sponsorships on YouTube, so it's like pure creativity and it's just fun for me. But then there's also that aspect of editing is so time-consuming. Like there's so many creators in the Austin creator community that have been like, "Oh, you do YouTube? Like please tell me more about it." All this stuff and like just don't start. Don't start because it takes so much time and the ROI is just not there to be totally honest with you. But like I said, I really want to seriously get back into YouTube because I love watching YouTube. I've literally watched YouTube since like 2011, 12. And like I have been watching the same creators since then. So, that's kind of like my reality TV and just like keeping up with their lives. Like feel like I know with much lore about some people on the internet, which is so weird to think. And I also just don't want to give up for myself because I've been doing it for so long that if I completely stop posting, I feel like that's just like giving up. I don't know. Maybe a bad mentality to have cuz, you know, things are always ever-changing in the creator space. That is just like my little two cents. Again, let me know if you want me to go more in depth or if you have any specific questions about being self-managed. Also, thank God for ChatGPT, you guys, because I've definitely gotten better at negotiating with Chat's help. So, don't be afraid to use it. We are headed up to the domain for an Aesop event. I really only know about their soap, but obviously they have so many other products, so I can't wait to smell them all. I'm wearing this stunning dress. I just got it in from Rent the Runway. I believe it's LoveShack Fancy, and these are my current go-to shoe. They're just like a perfect tiny tiny heel sandal, and they're from Amazon. They're super affordable. We actually got to the domain a little bit early, and I told him that people thought we'd be there at 6:00, but at least we had a little bit of time to take some cute Instagram photos. Shout out to my Instagram husband. Future husband. I finally meet my Instagram husband finally after all these years. >> [music] [music] >> We're going back to the old stomping grounds. We used to come here like after lake days, and they had it in downtown, but they closed it down, and I'm so sad. So, now it's only at The domain. The iconic glorious bean dip. Like, I wouldn't even think I would like bean dip, but it is so good here. Chimichurri steak is always my order here. Happy Friday. It is T-minus [music] one day until Ryan's birthday, and he's turning 29. Fun fact, I'm like 6 months older than him. I just never thought I would be a cougar. My hair is kind of pissing me off today. Like, tried a new wood shampoo and conditioner, and like it made my hair shiny for sure, but then I think there's like parts where it's so oily, and I swear I washed that out of my hair. Like, there wasn't any product in my hair. I don't really understand. So, don't think I'll be using that again. Luckily, we are going to the lake tomorrow, so I'll probably just wash my hair again tomorrow. So, it's not that big of a deal, but I am filming a partnership. That's what I'm about to go do. I am going to film some in-store content at Whole Foods for this brand called Aveline. It's, I think, Cameron Diaz's wine brand, but I've worked with them before, and it's really yummy wine. I just got off FaceTime with my friend Nancy, and we always just like chat for so long. And now I'm kind of just sleepy. And I really don't want to even like leave my house, and I really do feel like I need a caffeine boost, but these past 2 days I've been drinking Alani Nu's, and I've been feeling really, really anxious after drinking them. So, I'm just like, you know what? Today, I'm just going to lay off the caffeine, and we're just going to feel all the sleepiness, and I'm just going to have to try to push through it. So, let's go to Whole Foods before I literally fall asleep in my car. I do like the way my makeup turned out today, so that's a win. We are going to our favorite like birthday celebration spot. I feel like we've gone here so many times for like anniversaries and birthdays, and that is Sushi Bar ATX. They have a new location downtown. I think that's now their only location, but they were on the east side before in this like back alley like speakeasy room, but now they have like a ton of seating, so it's kind of nice. I think their original seatings were either at like 5:00 p.m. or like 8:00 p.m. So, it's just like so early or just so late. I love like a good in between or honestly, I do prefer early reservations, but why is like so early? Because usually for an omakase, they do tell you to arrive early. So, you should be getting there like 4:30. Anyways, our reservation's at 7:15 tonight, which is perfect and we were both like, "Oh my gosh, I thought it was so much earlier." So, now we have a lot more time, which is amazing. I need to stop rambling and go film this ad. All right, let's get it done. In-store filming is complete. That does feel like a bit of a humiliation ritual sometimes, especially because it's such a big brand store and like no one in there technically knew I was filming. I was trying to do it in secret. Um but like when you're at like a smaller store, for example, if I was filming an ad for Anthropologie weddings, like they would know that I was there filming content. So, it's a little less embarrassing because like they know I'm there to do my job. But yeah, I tried to do that so quick and I just realized that it's Friday. People are like in the wine aisle. So, I was like trying to wait for some people to walk by. I also thought like all of the wine bottles from that one brand would be all right next to each other, but then it made sense. Like obviously, the rosé would be in the rosé section and the cab would be in the cab section. So, it didn't really look very aesthetically pleasing. And I'm also just curious because there's so many other wine brands around the bottles. Like there was pretty much no way I couldn't get around those, especially if I'm like filming myself getting the wine bottles. So, anyways, I just took a ton of b-roll and I'm going to put it all together and hopefully I won't need to reshoot, at least in the store. But now, I'm going to film a little intro for the video. They wanted me to do a talking-to-camera video, so I have my little setup right here. This tripod is so good because it has this little latch that I think I'm going to try to put on this screen. And then, my selfie screen, I've had this for so long and I now pretty much never leave the house without it. It doesn't lag, it plugs straight into your phone, you don't have to charge it. It is super, super helpful to see um if you're like in the middle of the screen and if you're in focus. I mean, usually the iPhone's pretty much always in focus, but it's very, very helpful to be able to film in public with the back camera cuz that just makes the quality even better. And like, if it's an ad, I want to make it as good as I can. Did I just discover a new filming setup? I don't really film in my car. And I feel like I should because I have a really beautiful like interior. So, maybe I should start doing this more. Ooh, okay, guys, the lighting actually looks pretty good right now. Okay, I slay. I do have a rough draft of a script, though, so I need to pull that up and see what I'm going to say and then spit out my gum because I cannot be filming an ad with gum in my mouth. If you're in your Okay. I'm going to check the brows real quick. And yes, I have a little spoolie in my car. Okay. I'm so particular about my hair when I film. Like, if it's If it's not laying right, it will literally drive me insane and I told you guys that hair product did me dirty today, so I'm not having the best hair day. See, the thing with filming with the back camera is it shows every little hair that's out of place. And I think in my last vlog, I I you guys about my baby hairs that are driving me insane. So, >> [music] >> that's been fun to deal with. If you're in your late 20s, early 30s, and you still feel a little intimidated by wine, I reshot that so many times, but the last one was definitely the winner, and look at this quality. Like, what the heck? I think it looks so good because it's a really overcast day, and the lighting just looks so even. My phone's being glitchy right now, but you get the gist. It looks so good. Yay! The lighting was so good today I wanted to just film like an organic TikTok. Okay, my car has these cooling seats, which is, you know, great in theory, but they're so overstimulating because it's like default that when you're sitting in the seat, it turns on. It's so gosh dang loud, and I don't know how to like turn it off of default, so I just have to like manually turn it off. I don't know, first world problems, for sure. But, like see? I don't know if it made a difference in the audio, but like to me, when I get in my car, it's just so overstimulating. I think the AC's on, it's not even on. We're actually going to go to HEB because I'm officially addicted to that cookie dough cream cheese dip, and I eat it with those hydroponic strawberries, and um Ryan went to HEB the other day, which I usually do most of the grocery store shopping, but he was out and about, and he wanted to get some like liquor or something. Um and he went to a different HEB, and they didn't have my cookie dough dip. So, I'm right here. It's like literally just across the street, so I'm going to run in and grab some. I'm really only needing a few things, but oh my gosh, I love looking at all the flowers. Oh. Do I need them? Yes. Yes, I do. I don't really need a lot, though, so I really hope I walk out of here with only the things I need. You're joking. They only have the s'mores. Okay, guys, I'm so heartbroken right now. Honestly, it wasn't that bad, but seriously so sad about that cookie dough dip. Hi. you feel turning 30? >> I'm not turning 30. You're just old. >> What are your feelings going into 29? >> It feels like another day. >> Rylan. >> Every day feels like my birthday with you. >> [laughter] >> Amazon Oxford shirt. >> It looks really nice. >> Thanks. The PM pants. >> What's that? PM? Oh. >> And then I got these new archery shoes. >> Oh yeah, these shoes are really cool. I literally told him that he needs to find me matching ones cuz I want them for myself. >> Like sweet air force ones. >> They look like blue in the camera, but they're like a cream tan, yeah. I like them a lot. You look very handsome. >> And then the final piece. >> No. >> What do you think, Chad? You got these glasses or not? >> No. >> What about the watch? >> Your watches are always cool. >> [music] [music] >> Birthday boy things. >> [music] [music] >> I know. >> [music] [music] >> So you want to know something funny we did last night? >> What? >> So we we >> Are you talking about me and you or are you talking about me and you and her? >> No, we did. Me and you. So when we were doing the pre-making the batter >> Did you fart sure? >> No. Worse. Actually, I don't know what's worse. No, I was using a tablespoon instead of a teaspoon for the baking powder. And that changes the science of the baked goods. So I had to restart my mashed potatoes. >> That fine? >> Yeah. This morning. Cuz it would have already been done by now. >> I was wondering what was going on then. >> So I really hope it's good. It looks good. >> It looks good. >> But I'm not a huge fan of coffee cake, so maybe I will be. This whole time I told Ryan I thought there was coffee in it and I just don't like coffee. >> She is just It's funny that you're like a generational hater. >> [laughter] >> You like don't know if you like it, you just know you don't cuz it says coffee in the name. >> That is such a lie cuz I'm not a picky eater and I eat a lot of stuff. But I swear some coffee cakes have coffee. Am I right? >> You hate Negronis, coffee What else do you hate? I think you hate a lot of stuff. >> Uh yeah. Cough syrup. >> So hopefully >> this is good because it's really just cinnamon, sugar, and cake. I'm excited to try but I think we're going to let it cool and go get coffee. Going to Ryan's favorite coffee shop in Austin, Fleet Coffee. >> Hi, how are you doing? >> What's your order? >> So normally it's an iced oat latte. I got an iced oat maple latte today. >> Ooh, a little extra birthday treat. >> Sounds crispy. >> Actually stunning. Hopefully it tastes as good. >> bottom soft and gooey. >> Oh, good. Taste test. >> You're good. We can go. >> Is it good? >> Mhm. >> You sure? >> Mhm. The crumble's good, too. >> Thanks. I'm going to make my Hawaiian roll sandwiches for the lake. It's such a good snack so I thought I would show you guys how I do it. It's literally so, so simple. Basically you just want to save all of the packaging so that it's super easy to just take to the lake or the pool or wherever you're going. But you want to use a bread knife so it's easy to cut and just pretty much go through cuz we want a top and a bottom to a sandwich and the top should just come off like that. Set that aside on parchment paper or something. Cannot get this angle right but I'm also rushing. We are going to use Chick-fil-A sauce. It's the best sauce and just kind of like douse it cuz you want it to be super saucy. Take a spatula and even that out. Then you can choose whatever kind of meat you want. We're We're to do turkey breast today And it's so easy to just layer this on because it's like an accordion. You just kind of fan it out. I did this last time. I should have put the cheese on the bottom, but I forgot again. Oops. I'm just going to layer some American white cheese on top. This is just the perfect finger food to bring to the lake and my friends love it every single time. Now, a little bit more Chick-fil-A sauce on top. I like my food very saucy. Then you grab the top and put it right back on. Oop. Alexa, stop. You can stop here, but if you want to add a little bit more flavor, I like to take melted butter, salt, and garlic powder and just brush it on top. Be as generous as you want. I preheated my oven to 350 and I'm just going to put these in there for like 5 minutes just to get it a little bit crispy. I also like to add oregano on top for mostly presentation. >> 5 minute timer started. >> It looks incredible. And now I'm just putting the box back together and going to stick it back into that plastic packaging. Never mind. I did forget that I usually cut them, so it's way easier to eat them when we're actually at the lake. Now, it's ready to go back into the bag. Perfect. Now, my outfit of the day. This swimsuit is actually from Walmart and I really want to go back to Target and Walmart to check out like their summer fashion cuz the last time I was there, I was shocked. In a good way. These jean shorts are Agolde. I have my cutie little Croc sandals and socks with the toe loop. And whenever you go to the lake in Austin, like you should definitely bring some kind of water shoes. Hat is from Wyeth. It's actually very affordable and it's packable. >> [music] [music] >> Not you. Yeah, guys. I shaved his back yesterday. Donny. Baby, it looks actually really good. I did a really good job. >> I know. >> [music and singing] [music] >> Yummy. All right, sing it. Deep in the heart of Texas. That's what I love about Texas. Birthday night. We're headed to Uptown Sports Club for dinner and probably going to hit up Eastside or Rainey. Maybe go out. Sophie, I'm sorry. I know. >> [music] [music] >> Morning, it's Sunday and we are up early because we want to go to this one coffee shop downtown called Lavaca Coffee. It's pretty popular so the line gets really long and they open at 9:00 and we're here right in time for the truck to open. So, they have really, really good matcha and Vietnamese coffee. Do you hear the song? It sounds like a jingle for their truck. No, it says Austin, Texas Taco House. That's so funny. I love that. It is so humid out. My camera is just fogging up and that's just not normal. It's been so rainy here this season, which is good and bad because I feel like my garden is just growing so slow, but then also after a big rain, I'm just like, "Ooh, what is in the garden?" So, I just went and checked it and I have some okra growing finally, which is exciting. I have no idea what to do with okra. I love fried okra, but maybe I can make some kind of an Indian dish with it. I'm just not sure how many I'm going to get at like one time to be able to use it all, but I wanted to show you guys an update on this plant. This is a crepe myrtle. It looks incredible this year. We've been in this house for like 3 years and by far this year it's like blooming like so perfectly and so lusciously and I can't help to think it's probably like all the rain and maybe like how cool and mild this summer is cuz it's not like that hot, but I think they do really well in the heat. It's not our tree, it's our neighbor's. Since there's so many blooms on the tree, it's getting heavier and heavier, so it's kind of like just weighing it down, but it just looks so gorgeous. It literally looks like something out of a children's book. Like how is this my backyard? And I need to put before and after pictures because this is not what it used to look like at all. There were barely any plants over here and I just feel like the plants add so much to the backyard and it just makes me so happy. I can see the garden from our bedroom and I randomly just looked out the window to check on the garden and this whole tomato plant fell over to the side and I almost had a heart attack, but I think we were able to save it. Like I don't think it snapped all the way, so I just kind of made sure that it was very sturdy. I put another rope up here and now I am making sure all of my plants are sturdy. So back here there are honeydew melon and butternut squash. I put them on these little What are these called? Lattices or trellis things and then I reinforced them with some rope. So now since I'm already out here sweating, I might as well do this cucumber patch that I've been scared to even look at because it's all just tangled in here and I don't even know what's going on in here. So let's try to organize this mess. >> [music] >> It's almost 6:30 and I'm actually headed out to a shoot. I haven't done a photo session in a really long time. I just feel like once it hits summer, no one wants to be outside and taking photographs, but I'm doing a maternity shoot or no, a pregnancy announcement today for a content creator that lives in Austin. I saw that she was going to announce it and I was like, "Hello, do you have a photographer?" And I know that she has this insane urban garden, so I just like knew the vibes were going to be insanely good. I was like, "Please let me photograph you because honestly, I'm craving just to like be creative and like have fun and also just use like some of my new equipment. I want to try out like reflector and my flash. So, I'm really excited to do this cuz she has like so many zinnias blooming. It's absolutely nuts. And she was like, "Bring a vase because I'm going to give to you some flowers." Which is so kind. She's actually the person who gave me my first sourdough starter. Even though I don't think making actual sourdough bread is my thing. It's just It didn't work out for me like the four times I tried it, but obviously I'm not going to give up. I did just buy like a new sourdough starter cuz I let that one go to unfortunately. And she's definitely like a big inspiration for my own home garden. So, I just can't wait to even see her garden right now. She's growing literal passion fruit in her garden. Like, I just feel like that's such a rare fruit. [music] It's very inspiring. Look at her amazing garden. This isn't even everything. She's going to give me [music] a garden tour later. So, really lean into him and maybe hold your hand. Yes. Yeah. Yes. >> Should I do anything with this hand? >> No, that's perfect. I want you to like lean into his neck more, maybe, but chin down. There we go. There we go. >> [music] >> Yeah, you can like look down at your shoulder if you want. Okay, ready? 3 2 1 go. Always going to give me a little tour [music] of her garden this year cuz I saw it last year, right? >> Yeah, pride and joy. >> Oh. This is crazy. I mean, even just like the flowers that you were showing on Instagram, they're so pretty. That's so cool. >> These will [music] be ripe, I think, sometime next month. >> Cuz they stay that size, right? >> They do stay that size. Yeah. So, they kind of like grow to a certain size and then they stay that size for a while and they slowly turn like kind of a purplish color and then when they get wrinkly, that's when it's time to eat them. >> What else is back here? Do you have any roses, by the way? >> Yeah. >> Cuz I just got a few rose Yeah. >> There's little tiny grapes. >> Okay, do you know who Desi Perkins is? She's like a makeup artist. Did you see her video that she posted today? It was like Perkins Produce and she I mean, you know, these people live in California with the most perfect weather year-round and they can grow whatever they want and every house comes with a dang lemon tree. >> [laughter] >> I'm very jealous. >> I know, me too. Her produce stuff was insane. Woah. >> Okay, so you can really see cuz it's a little bit dark, but that is >> There's like hundreds of grapes. >> Did you do this from seed or what? >> Josh bought a cutting. So, it was like a >> tiny cutting. >> Wow. >> 18 months ago. >> And how >> it's >> Wait, 18 months? >> Yeah, it was like last spring. >> That's absolutely insane. >> 2024. I can't remember exactly when he put it in. >> I need to find a grape. >> It was like this big. >> Okay. >> it here and now it's taken over. It did all of this growth last year and then this year it's producing >> Okay. >> One more. >> This grass is really cool. What What this grass? >> It's called zoysia grass. [music] >> It looks like, I don't know. Like we might have to when the baby comes, we might have to do another shoot with this grass. That is really cool good looking grass. >> It's like a special type of grass that was engineered by Texas A&M >> Oh, wow. >> to survive in our climate specifically. So it looks really really good. >> looks like so luscious. >> It's [music] kind of like Dr. Seuss >> Yes. Yes, that's why I'm like >> It's a mix of a like a hybrid of a native Texas grass and a Japanese grass that was like specially engineered to do well in our climate. So it looks great in the summer. It looks terrible in the winter, but >> [laughter] >> you know, it is what it is. >> [music]
