We Found Epic Collectibles at Pullman Geek Fest In Huntington WV!
Watch on YouTubeVideo summary
The video documents the enthusiastic experience of visiting Pullman Geek Fest in Huntington, West Virginia, an event sponsored by Inner Geek and attended alongside a brother who runs his own booth selling comics and collectibles under the name Two Grumpy Vets. The hosts arrive early to help with setup amidst hot weather conditions that reach ninety degrees Fahrenheit throughout the day. While exploring various vendors, they visit several booths featuring extensive collections of vintage toys from franchises like Star Wars, G.I. Joe, Masters of the Universe, and Thundercats. A significant portion of their time is spent browsing a massive selection of Funko Pops and custom mini-figures at Mike's Mini Figs, where the brother purchases items such as figures for his son based on *Breaking Bad* and *Supernatural*, though they humorously note the absence of Dean Winchester despite finding other characters.
A major highlight of the convention is a visit to Alleycat Collectibles, where the narrator acquires an exclusive Jetfire Funko Pop designed in the style of the original Generation One toy rather than his cartoon counterpart. The hosts also stop by Evil Dan Studios to speak with the creator who makes custom fiberglass helmets and figures for Power Rangers actors, noting that he has recently returned to full-time work after a hiatus. Additionally, they connect with Larry from the West Virginia Comics Buy, Sell, and Trade Facebook group, learning about their local community efforts to organize monthly meetups in Hurricane, WV, which aim to bring collectors together despite being located several hours away for some attendees. The atmosphere is described as lively and communal, filled with cosplayers ranging from a Moth Man sighting to various other characters, though the extreme heat remains a constant challenge for those wearing full costumes.
The video concludes with a detailed haul segment showcasing all the items purchased during the day by both the narrator and his nephew, Olivia. The collection includes custom mini-figures of Trap Jaw and Skeletor from the new *Masters of the Universe* movie, along with various Funko Pops like Jaws, Omniman, Luffy, Zoro, Chainsaw Man, and a Squid Game doll won in a game against Dylan. Other acquisitions feature a Gobot that is famous within the Transformers community for its unique design, a Studio Series Sideswipe gifted by a subscriber, and a childhood copy of *Transformers: Choose Your Own Adventure – The Dinobots Strike Back* from his brother's booth. Despite spending a significant amount of money on these diverse collectibles ranging from action figures to stickers and books, the hosts express great satisfaction with their finds and hope that similar large-scale geek festivals can be established in other towns like Greenbrier County.

Well, here we are at Pullman Square in
Huntington, West Virginia for Pullman
Geekfest. actually sponsored by the
inner geek right over there. Uh we're
here bright and early. Let me switch.
Everybody is setting up. There is my
brother Michael who I don't think you
ever seen on this channel, but we may be
talking to him later on if he's not
camera shy. It is what 1:00 7:14 in the
morning. Everybody's setting up. So, I
hope it's going to be a fun time. Hope
the weather holds up.
love the area.
Really cool. I may I'm going to help him
set up, get some comic books out.
Definitely I will be checking out the
Inner Geek later because I hear they got
a good selection of Transformers. I
talked to one of the owners. So, um
looking forward to this.
>> They call me [music] Patriot.
>> Yeah, right there. That's what I'm
after. vintage toys. So hopefully we can
find some good uh vintage Transformers,
Gobots, or who knows what other
treasures we'll find here. All right, my
brother's booth is coming along. This is
Two Grumpy Vets comics and collectibles.
He's got the comics going on right here
and displayed there. And then moving
around the side, we got some toys. Of
course, my favorite, he does have some
vintage G1. We've got Wheelie Cliff
Jumper. Moving down here, there's
Swerve, Pipes, Brawn,
Wind Charger, and Sea Spray. They got
some video games. And for you turtle
fans to wipe your tears away,
Tony Terrors.
Hey, Mike.
So, this thing starts at 10:00 and we're
at 8 right now. So, getting close.
Okay, I'm here inside the inner geek in
front of their Transformers display. So,
let's check those out and see what they
have and what I don't have. All right,
let's see. We've got some pretenders.
Quite a few Jazzes, Bumblebee,
Tagerhawk, Six Shot back there. There's
Grimlock, some Rescue Bots, Scourge,
Roadbuster.
We got some Beast Wars down here. Ultra
Magnus sealed. Who else we got? Hound
sealed.
What? Drop shot. Dread wind. Venom.
There's Depth Charge.
Galvatron.
There's a sealed barrage. Rampage.
Let's see. We got some cassettes.
Grapple.
Who's that big guy? That's Optimus
Prime.
Some more pretenders
down here on the bottom.
>> So, they've got a few, but uh nothing
really grabbing my attention right
there. Though, there is a Gobot, I
believe. I think that's Crane Brain. I
may need to get him. All right, checking
out some of the other goodies that they
have here. We've got some vintage Star
Wars. For some of you that don't know, I
actually used to collect Star Wars
before collecting Transformers and the
Transformers just took over. We got some
Star Trek
Vintage Masters of the Universe,
some Shira.
I love places like this. Let's see.
Moving here,
we've got G.I. Joe's. All kinds of
vintage GI Joes. Sorry for the
reflection from the glass. What's that?
[music] Eagle Force, Riot Force.
Got some McFarland [music]
figures.
Oh, hey there, Darth Vader. And oh,
there's the Moth Man. You can't film in
West Virginia without running into the
Moth Man. And we got Yoda, R2-D2,
tons and tons of Funko Pops. They got
all kinds of stuff. This is a big store.
Kind
of helps when you only collect one
things. But I'm going to take a look at
this whole place. This is awesome. Look
at this wall of Funko Pops.
It just goes on forever.
And you got more Funko Pops here.
Impressive. Then, of course, you go to
the back. There's where all the comics
are.
And I just found a huge wall of vintage
figures back here in the back. We've got
Spawn. We've got G.I. Joe, Loose and
Carded, Star Trek,
some model kits,
Thundercats,
Masters of the Universe.
Let's see. And there's vintage Masters
of the Universe as well.
Tons of them. And of course, I think I
heard. Yep, there is some Transformers.
Here's the transformer section, which
unfortunately
is just that little spot right there.
But let's see who we got. Well, there's
some Gobots.
Let's see here.
That's not a transformer. It's a Voltron
guy outback.
Thing about these now is finding ones
that I actually don't have. Or
that's Stinger. I just picked him up.
display stands,
technobots, terracons.
There's some Gobots monstrous.
Moving on down there, uh, what was that?
McDonald's Beast Wars
Action Master.
Let's see. I think I think I've got all
these. So, let's keep on looking. And of
course, there's Marvel, DC.
We have over here more Marvel and DC.
And it's just a This place is huge.
Check this out.
Action figures as far as you can see.
I'm in heaven. I need a shop like this
at home. Oh, there's vintage Star Wars.
Look at that.
It's a big old hand solo.
>> And here's the backside. More and more
DC.
Check it out. 89 Batman playset.
Yeah, I totally missed that Omega
Supreme back there in the box. Don't see
a price on. Or do I see a price on it?
What is that?
I'll zoom in later. I'm sure it's high,
but I got Omega. It doesn't matter.
>> Well, I got a Metroplex up here for 29.
Yeah, there he is.
>> And I messed around the side.
I got some more
great figures, but I have them all. Now
I'm in front of Mike's mini figs and
more. And let me tell you, he has got a
wide variety of mini figs. All right, we
have got Star Wars. All kinds of Star
Wars. And then over here we've got
Street Fighter, Sonic, Warhammer,
different games.
Dylan, you found a few. What do you
have?
Breaking Bad figures.
Awesome. Now, my wife is into
Supernatural. I was looking around. I
did find some Supernatural, but you
know, she wants Dean Winchester. So, I I
found the darkness. The darkness. The
darkness. Three of her. And
unfortunately, four of her. That's it.
So, no Dean Winchester. I did ask,
[music] but man, many figs for days.
Now, I did see a Jason Borhees that I've
got to pick up because you know me and
Jason.
So, wow. Nice collection and not bad for
custom figures.
Here I am now with Mike from Mike's
Minigs and he has got some wild looking
mini figs. We've bought quite a few from
him today and we'll probably be buying
some more. So, Mike, tell us a little
bit about uh your booth here and what
you do.
>> Um, well, I like to make figures that
LEGO doesn't make. U, so a lot of the
movies and TVs shows that don't have a
Lego set, I try to fill that void. Um,
and then we've got all the normal stuff,
you know, we have over 200 Star Wars
figures. We've got tons of Marvel and
DC, anime, and games. And, you know, we
uh we try to hit I I would like to
become the Funko of the minifigure
world.
>> That's awesome. Yeah, cuz what did Let's
see. My son bought three Breaking Bad. I
think he got a Nathan Drake figure. I
got a Jason Vorhees. Love Jason Vorhees.
So, yeah, you got some awesome stuff,
man. You do really good work. I'm
impressed.
>> Thank you.
>> So, hopefully you'll do good here at
Geekfest. You're always busy when I walk
by.
>> Yeah, it's been pretty steady today. Uh
we do over We've currently made over
2,800 different figures.
>> Wow, that's insane. It
>> It's a lot. Um and we take custom
requests.
>> Okay. Well, I didn't see any
Transformers.
>> Yeah, I have them. I've got probably a
dozen animated ones and I've got six or
eight from the live action movies.
>> Awesome.
>> Well, Bunny, I hope you do good. Uh
definitely packed today. He's super hot.
>> Yeah.
>> All right. Well, Mike, thanks so much.
Uh,
>> yeah, I appreciate it. It's I'm doing
the right hand. Thanks, buddy.
>> All right. Right after I hit stop, we
finished recording, I'm making the joke
about he needs to make some
Transformers. He does. I've got
Megatron. And you you guys know Megatron
is my favorite. Done up in G1 style as
you see right here. And then my son Lux
out. Show them who you found. We've got
uh Arthur Morgan, Nathan Drake,
and who's that? Ellie, Last of Us. Show
them, Arthur.
So, yeah, we we just keep finding more
and more stuff with Mike's Mini Figs. Uh
you got a website or something?
>> I do. It's Mike's Minifigs.com.
Easy enough. I'll put a link to Mike's
site in the description of this video.
Check him out. Get some figures. Like
what? The Funko Pop of the minifigure
world. So, thanks, man. Here we are
[music] at Alleycat Collectibles
checking out all of their different
Funko Pops. Hopefully the music in the
background won't give me a copyright
strike on this video. Dylan, what Funko
is you looking for?
>> I don't know. I'm just looking.
>> He don't know. He's just looking. That's
the best type. [music]
>> Quite a few of them. Now, there is one
here I'm getting, and I'll show that to
you here in a second. All right. So, we
just got our figures from Alleycat. I
picked up the exclusive Jetfire based on
his G1 toy design. What'd you get,
Dylan?
>> I got
red light, green light.
>> Yeah. And and Dylan's really not that
tall. I just have to get down to his
level to film.
>> All right. Slowly going around checking
out all the different vendors.
That's cool.
Look at the Wolverine arm.
some old VHS movies,
>> Pokemon cards,
[music]
comics.
>> Without a doubt, that is the best name
for a fudge company ever. All right, I
am here with Evil Dan Studios. I swung
by their table. Check this stuff out. We
got turtle heads, putties,
Power Rangers, and then we got more
turtles, different designs. no
transformer stuff, but we're we're
talking about it. So, tell me a little
bit about your uh booth, your shop, your
idea.
>> Uh we've been doing this uh since about
2013. [music]
I have worked with several of the Power
Ranger actors and stuff [music] like
that. Getting stuff for their tables and
things like that. I've probably made
uh 200 different, you know, 200 Power
Ranger helmets, you know, just different
kind of ones and stuff like that. Uh we
recently [music] we we were shut down
for a while. I stopped doing it because
of work and stuff like that. And here
during about [music] February, I got a
commission from somebody to make some
fenders and I was like, I think I'm back
into fiberglass work again. So, I
started doing [music] the molding and
stuff again. And here we are. We're
we're back in business. Well, looks
great. I hope you do well. And what's
funny, real [music] quick, a little
background information. For a quick
second, we couldn't remember what the
name of this company was. I was sitting
there talking to him. It's right there
on his shirt. [laughter]
>> Yep. Evil Dan Studios. That's That's the
stuff I know, man. Thank you so much.
Good luck here at Geekfest. Pleasure
meeting you as well.
>> You too. Have a good
>> Hey guys, I'm here with Larry from the
West Virginia Comics Buy, Sell, and
Trade Facebook page. Larry, how are you
doing today?
>> I'm doing great here at the Geekfest.
Got the inner geek right there behind
us. So, tell us a little bit about your
Facebook group. Well, a friend of mine
or me and a friend of mine, we started a
group a few years ago just to try to
bring collectors together. Uh so we
could uh buy and sell and trade amongst
each other, build our collections a
little bit. Uh it just kind of blew up.
We've got 780 members, I think, in a
group now.
>> Wow. That's like a local group.
>> A local group. Yeah. uh mostly uh
members from West Virginia, Kentucky,
Ohio, uh probably Pennsylvania, Virginia
as well, but um just a lot of guys uh we
do a monthly meetup in Hurricane, West
Virginia every month. Uh again, where we
just get together, buy, sell, and trade
amongst each other. Uh we do about three
shows a year uh that we uh we put on and
uh we do it as or with as as little
expense as we can. That's important when
you're a nerd.
>> Yeah. [laughter]
>> Got to save that money for your stuff.
>> Exactly.
>> Excellent.
>> So, are you have a shop here or a booth
here or you just out here hanging out?
>> I don't. I'm I'm just down here. Uh
we've got some crew members down here
today and I brought them some flyers for
an upcoming show that we have coming up
so they could help pass out. And uh I
just come down, hang out, and enjoy the
outside weather today.
>> Awesome. Absolutely beautiful day. I was
watching the weather all week. It was
originally supposed to thunderstorms.
That's cool. Well, this is great. I wish
there was something like this in my
area, but like I said, I came up with my
little brother who has a booth and yeah,
we enjoy this thing. Man, it's a
pleasure meeting you. I always love
meeting other other nerds here locally
in the state. Well, not too locally. I'm
3 hours away.
>> All right. Well, thanks so much. I'll
put your Facebook info on the video.
>> We appreciate it. Thanks. And again, if
you're going to be in West Virginia
around the uh 19th of September, we're
going to have a great show with the soul
showed out or sold out. 50 tables, uh
nothing but comics, toys,
>> real quick. It's not off when you do an
interview and the [music] freaking moth
man sneaks up behind you.
>> Yeah,
>> only in West Virginia. [laughter]
>> Thanks so much, buddy.
>> Yeah, thank you.
>> Well, we've been here for probably about
3 hours. We've seen a lot of cool stuff.
Uh, have you seen a lot of cool stuff?
The biggest problem is it is 90 freaking
degrees out here. It is horrible hot. I
feel so sorry for the people that are
cosplaying in these full costumes. Dylan
was going to come in a costume. Who are
you going to be?
>> Grand Regent, right?
>> So, he had this full costume with the
furry back and everything and the cape
and we got out of the car. He's like,
"Nope." So, kudos to these ones in the
cosplay, especially guys wearing black.
But we found some pretty cool stuff
today. Are you happy with what you
found?
>> Yeah. And I've got no problem showing
him in my videos anymore because believe
it or not, he's 12 now. Wow. You got old
because people probably follow my
channel for a long time remember you as
the cute cute little kid.
>> Now you're just the kid.
>> What do you think about that?
>> So what's the coolest thing you've seen
here so far?
>> Uh probably do flamingo.
>> Do flamingo. Yeah. Do flamingo cosplay
was pretty cool. There's a guy. There
was the moth man. and he showed up in
the video later on. But we just wanted
to give you an update. I'm waiting. Uh I
want to interview one more person and I
think we're going to head out because
I'm melting.
[music]
I totally missed this display earlier.
Check out these vintage toys. That's
awesome.
And then moving on up, there's something
I haven't seen for a long time. In
humanoids,
Skeletor.
>> Yeah, this is so cool.
What's that?
>> Rage the cage hulk.
>> Those are metal, too. That's awesome.
>> Okay, I have had a blast here at the
Pullman Geek Festival. It's been a
pretty good show. Lots of people. See if
I can spin around without falling over
somebody. So, this has been a a hoot.
Dylan has come with me. We've spent so
much money. I think we already went over
that.
>> Yeah. Yeah, pretty awesome. Pretty neat
that the whole community gets together
like this. You don't see this often. So
maybe I can start getting something like
this to come to my town. That would be
awesome. What do you think? Something
Greenbar County Comic Book Festival.
>> Yeah,
>> Geek Festival. Greenar County Geekfest
has a great ring to it.
Heat. Heat. N.
Well, our funfilled day at Pullman
Geekfest has come to an end. We got home
a few hours ago, went out to dinner,
went to Dave and Busters, and that was
Dylan and I's first time going to Dave
and Busters. What did you think about
that?
>> It was pretty good.
>> It was pretty good. I had a super duper
bacon burger. So, anyway, Pullman
Geekfest was a blast. About the only
complaint I have with it is it was so
hot. How hot was it?
>> Really hot.
>> It was really hot. This is my niece
Olivia. She uh joined us for Geekfest
and she decided she wanted to be part of
this haul video since we did a
convention or a festival or whatever you
want to call it. We did buy lots of
stuff. So, uh we figure we'll start off.
Uh Livia, show everybody what you got
first.
>> Um
so, I got this custom made um trap jaw.
>> That's from Mike's mini figs who I
talked about earlier.
It's Trap Jaw.
>> Trap Jaw from the new Masters of the
Universe movie, right?
>> Yeah.
>> Okay.
>> Yeah. She got this sticker.
>> Yeah. A little stick. You won that,
didn't you?
>> Yep.
>> Okay.
>> I beat Dylan.
>> Beat Dylan. She did.
>> And then we got
Skeletor.
>> Skeletor.
You forgot his name. Gosh, you better
watch the movie again.
>> I already watched it five times.
>> Five times.
We got invincible with a baby on man.
>> I think it's a dolly man.
>> Baby.
>> Oh, wears. Okay.
>> It's a baby.
>> And we got
How do you say this?
>> His name is Chet. That is a limited
edition Funko Pop. Kind of a race car
dude.
>> Got Winnie the Poo.
>> Winnie the Poo.
>> Poo.
>> Poo. What's that? That's the last thing
you got right there.
Got a Got a chicken.
>> A chicken. [laughter]
What's a crochet chicken? Is it?
>> Yeah.
>> Well,
>> we ate chicken.
>> We ate chicken. And then we bought a
chicken.
>> We bought an egg.
>> And that was your haul, right?
>> Nope. I have a sticker.
>> Oh, you have a sticker.
>> And I got a little mushroom sticker.
>> All right. So, you happy with everything
you got?
>> Yeah.
>> Good enough. All right. Now, the the
master hauler was this guy right here.
Dylan got so much stuff. So, take it
away, son.
>> I I got
these
uh mini figs.
>> We got to tell them who they are. You
just flash it on the screen real quick.
>> Ellie from Last of Us,
Nathan Drake from Uncharted, and this
was the highlight.
>> Arthur Morgan from Red Dead 2,
and
I got
Uh Jesse Pinkman,
uh Walter White, and Hank Shrader.
>> They're all from Breaking Bad, right?
>> Yep. And
>> there's six mini figs right there.
>> I got a
uh Funko 2022 summer convention limited
edition uh red light green light doll
from Squid Game. And
I got a Jaws Funko,
Omniman Funko, GameStop exclusive. These
are all um Funko originals.
Uh Luffy
and Zoro.
And
this is not anything special, but it's
Chainsaw Man from Chainsaw Man. And
there's another Funko original Luffy
and a bobblehead coin pull.
>> All right, now that that's it for you.
>> Yeah,
>> that's enough. All right, now for my
stuff. The first thing I got was this
Funko Pop limited edition Jet Fire. This
is from uh I forget their name now.
Alleycat Collectibles. I saw this and
it's already sealed up. This is supposed
to be a rare one. This is Jetfire as the
toy, not the cartoon character. He gave
me a really good deal on that. So, thank
you very much. And then I had to hit the
mini fig guy up as well. I got a Jason
Vorhees. If you follow my channel, you
know I love Jason Vorhees. And then a G1
Megatron.
And then one of the subscribers who came
up to say hi to me gifted me this studio
series uh gamer sideswipe devastation
sideswipe.
And then at um the inner geek I found
this Gobot. This is a very famous Gobot.
If you follow the Transformers
community, I know you've seen the gif
with this Gobot. So I'm looking forward
to reviewing this guy. And then lastly,
a book I picked up from my brother, one
I had as a kid, a Transformers choose
your own adventure book, The Dinobots
Strike Back. Mike had that and it's,
man, I had that book as a kid and he
said, "Well, you're going to have it
again." So, it's going to be fun
rereading this and choosing my own
adventure. So, that's it. That is our
haul. Um, want to thank you for
watching. It was a pretty long video,
but it was a very fun day. I enjoy
spending the day with these two nerds.
They behave themselves the whole time
and look forward to doing another
convention sometime really soon. What do
you think about it? What' you think of
your day? It
>> was pretty good.
>> It's pretty good. You You want to do it
again?
>> It was cool.
>> It No, it wasn't cool at all. It was
hot.
>> Yeah. [laughter]
>> All right, guys. Thanks for watching.
Don't forget to like. Don't forget to
subscribe. This is Patriot Prime signing
out.
What are you moving for?
>> What [laughter]
they call me Patriot Prime showing
[music] what's new
with a heartfelt view.
Adding stickers [music] bringing life to
dreams.
In this small town, nothing's as it
seems.
>> [music]
