Paysville is set to welcome a new outdoor haunted attraction called Warehouse 13 on September 18th, marking the beginning of the spooky season with a significantly expanded experience. Originally, owner Dalton West intended to build a haunted house inside the existing warehouse, which spans 9,000 square feet; however, state regulations required the installation of a sprinkler system that would have cost over $100,000. Facing these financial hurdles, West decided to pivot his plans and construct a massive outdoor maze within the warehouse yard instead, effectively gaining an additional 11,000 square feet of space to create a larger and more immersive environment for visitors.
The redesigned attraction features a diverse array of activities designed to entertain guests throughout the event. The experience begins behind the main structure and leads visitors through a corn field before moving into several other sections of the maze. A unique highlight of the outdoor course is a bubble foam pit where participants must walk through without being able to see anything but bubbles, adding an element of disorientation and fun. Beyond the maze, the event will include open-air paintball zones where guests can shoot at costumed actors, as well as obstacles specifically designed for zombie characters to hide behind before popping out to surprise attendees.
To complement the scares and games, Warehouse 13 plans to offer a full carnival atmosphere complete with activity games, food trucks, and various vendors. The owner expressed excitement about how the first year will unfold, noting that if the outdoor event is successful, they might eventually install the sprinkler system or find a different building equipped with one for future indoor events. While he acknowledges that indoor haunts offer better protection from the weather, many fans prefer the open-air experience, and Warehouse 13 aims to compete alongside other local attractions like Meat Asylum and the Vanlier Historical Society to provide families with memorable seasonal fun.

Paysville is getting a new haunted
attraction on the 18th of September,
just in time for the spooky season,
Warehouse 13. After some hardships with
the warehouse itself, owner Dalton West
decided to bring it all outside to be
bigger and better. With everything from
a maze to zombie paint mall and more,
there'll be plenty to enjoy. Here is Wes
to tell us more.
>> So, originally I planned uh to do a
haunted house inside of the warehouse
behind me. Um it's 9,000 square ft.
After um talking with um the state, uh
we they just told me I'd had to have a
um sprinkler system and we got estimates
on that and it was over $100,000.
So um my brain got to racking and I've
come out with um kind of a maze outside
uh in the warehouse yard. We're going to
start behind us and then we'll go
through this is part we're actually in a
corn field that's going to be uh and
then you'll go through like several more
sections. Um, and then you'll go out and
there's actually going to be a uh
bubbled foam pit that you have to walk
through and you won't be able to see
nothing but bubbles. It's 20,000 ft out
here. So, we gained 11,000 ft just to
come outside. Um, but we'll have
paintball. It'll be open area. You'll be
shooting um dressed up actors. So,
you'll be shooting at them with
paintballs. There'll be um obstacles for
the zombies to hide behind and they'll
just pop out. And so we're going to have
um carnival activity games, vendors,
food trucks. So,
we'll see how it turns out.

Warehouse 13 plans to start off their
first year with a bang and look forward
to many years to come. With fall right
around the corner, what better time to
start getting the family ready for some
spooky fun. I posted on Facebook
originally as the warehouse 13 and um
they got a lot of attraction. So I was
like I told my mom I said it's got too
much attraction already. I said we're
going to have to do it.
>> So that's when I brought it out brought
it outside. We'll see how this year
goes. Um, if we do great, we may just
take the hurdle and put the sprinkler
system in. Um, so or we'll find a
building that's already got a sprinkler
system. Oh, so inside's obviously better
because of weather, but a lot of people
like outside haunts. We're not the only
haunt in the county. Uh, there's three
more. Um, you got Meat Asylum and then
Vanlier Historical Society does theirs.
Uh, I encourage if they stop at one,
they stop at all three. Reporting for
Mountaintop News, I'm Connor Gidd.
