Video summary

The video introduces Seesaw as a personalized digital learning board designed to let students showcase their knowledge in ways that best suit them. It emphasizes that the platform listens to student voices and respects individual choices throughout their educational journey, transforming passive learners into active creators of content. The core message is about empowerment, encouraging children to use various tools to demonstrate what they know rather than just receiving instruction. To begin using these features, students are guided to locate a large green button labeled "add," which serves as the gateway for creating and sharing work with teachers and family members. The tutorial demonstrates several practical applications of this tool in different classroom scenarios, such as photographing physical manipulatives like blocks or number materials to record mathematical activities. By clicking on specific tools within Seesaw, students can capture images of their hands-on learning experiences directly onto the digital screen for review. Beyond simple photography, the video highlights advanced capabilities that allow children to annotate and explain their thinking processes in real time. Students can use a microphone to record voiceovers while drawing over photos or using brushes on a blank canvas to count objects like apples and circle answers. This feature enables learners to narrate how they solved problems or read stories from books, effectively turning themselves into the stars of their own educational movies where they control the narrative of their progress. The final steps involve sharing completed assignments by clicking a green checkmark button, which sends the work for teacher approval before it appears on a class wall visible to peers and family. Once approved, these posts become part of a larger learning community where everyone can celebrate achievements through likes and comments that foster continued encouragement. The video concludes with an invitation for every student to click the add button, choose their preferred tool, and share something amazing while having fun engaging with the Seesaw platform.
