Uh we have a lot to get into. For starters, it is Nintendo's birthday, so we'll talk a little bit about that and reminisce a bit. Uh, we have an updated look at the Bayonetta and Stellar Blade crossover as well as an update on an option for the game that's going to make some people pretty happy on Switch 2. Uh, we have Nintendo announcing a new trial demo for a game that I can vouch is really, really good. Uh, we have a new dev interview for Monster Hunter Wilds coming to Switch 2 that we want to go through a bit. Uh we have some scalper news dealing with something related to Pokemon that is just frustrating. Uh more than that, uh there was some really really big discounts at a major retailer for Switch 2 games and it led to them selling out and no one's really sure why they had such a steep sale, especially since they apparently are going to keep supplying games moving forward. So it wasn't like it was a clearance sale. Let's get rid of everything. We actually are going to order more and keep carrying them. So, I think that's weird. I wanted to just take a glance quickly at a couple things on Amazon. One of them being the Amazon games bests sellers list. Let's kind of get an update on where Ocarina of Time is sitting after the last update. And then, yes, it looks like the Tears of the Kingdom: Secrets of the Zonai, the English version book now has a date that's been pushed back a bit, but we have a date according to Amazon. So, that's really interesting to look at. And we're going to end talking about how you can get your hands on the Ocarina of Time. And we're talking about the one Nintendo announced. It's a real ocarina but hasn't popped up anywhere to actually buy. We have an update on that, why it might not be available, and how you could still get it day one. All right, guys. Let's go ahead and get into our first story, and we're just going to glance at Stealth here because he did a nice reminder to me today that Nintendo is 137 years old. And hey, Shagir Miiamoto, the creator of Mario, Zelda, and so many others, has worked at Nintendo for 49 years. He's been there since 1977. And look guys, obviously uh you we're talking about 137 years ago. I wasn't alive back then. I didn't come into existence till 40 years ago. That being said, uh I've been there for pretty much their entire video game uh era of Nintendo, which is now obviously getting to 40 plus years old. And I just want to say that Nintendo's obviously been a very entertaining company to enjoy their games from childhood all the way through adulthood. They really do mean that E for everything you see on the Marios and the Zeldas. And hell, I know the latest Fire Emblem is T14. I'm cool if my 10-year-old plays that one. I think that uh Nintendo's just done a great job maintaining consistency with their IPs, inventing new ones over the years, trying out new ideas, and keeping things fresh. I just am thankful that Nintendo's been able to do that. We've seen many other IPs and companies kind of fall to the wayside over the years. Nintendo though is just standing strong and arguably stronger today, at least business-wise, than they've ever been. Uh, next up, I wanted to talk about Stellar Blade, and that's because it was the first ever Switch 2 game announced to use frame generation to give you 60 fps. And yeah, there's some footage out there and all that, but today we actually have an update because they listened to fan demands and also gave us a first look at the Bayonetta crossover uh with Stellar Blade. And Stell, you know, is a pretty risque game. And they somehow made Bayonetta's costume even more risque. Uh let's just let's just take a look. So, first off, it says, "Thank you to everyone who has played the Stellar Blade Complete Edition demo on Switch 2 so far. We've been watching your feedback closely and decided to add frame generation toggle at release. We hope this lets you play the game that looks and feels best to you. Uh, players know you'd love a 40 FPS mode VRR." But look, it's just really nice to see that look, frame generation, it gets at the 60. Some people don't like the way frame generation works, so hey, how about you run it at 30 FPS instead? It's a single player experience. I think a lot of people can enjoy that. And obviously a lot of you guys have probably been staring at Stellar Blade on screen wearing the Bayonetta costume. And yeah, I don't remember Bayonetta being that risque in the games. Although she has moves where she literally is naked, but then she's not because she's actually covered with her hair. It's a weird thing uh how they've obviously uh did that. And here you're seeing a rather interesting interpretation. We're not seeing it from the front side, just the back side, which is what a lot of people stare at during Stellar Blade, cuz the camera angles basically force you to have all ass on a third of your screen in this game. But hey, uh it's an interesting design choice. I will be fascinated to find out who tries to cosplay this and walk into a con because I don't think they're going to let you walk in wearing this. Uh but hey, it's there. It's cool. Uh, and I'm sure there totally isn't going to be like tomorrow on Amazon some Chinese company trying to sell this exact costume uh for people to wear for the uh I guess the spooky season coming up. All right, guys. Let's move on to our next story that's a little bit more tame and actually pretty exciting because Nintendo is giving NSO members another game trial. says, "Nintendo Switch Online members from September 24th, that's tomorrow at 10 a.m. Pacific to September 30th, you can download and try the full Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown game at no additional cost. So, first off, thank you Ubisoft for obviously partnering with Nintendo to allow this. Uh, and this is just it's a really good game. This is just a good game. And look, you could beat the game in that time. So, you literally could just play and beat it. It's like a game rental program. Uh, if you decide to buy and support the game after the fact, I'm sure Ubisoft would appreciate that. But hey, I like game trials. I like game trials when they're of known good games that people might have missed out on. So yeah, go ahead and give that a try. And if you're someone who just just doesn't want to give Ubisoft money, but you still want to play some of their games, but here's a chance to beat the game in the next week and uh not give them a scent. So there you go. It's a really good game, though. Next up, uh Monster Hunter Wild's uh Ascendance devs have discussed the Switch 2. So, we're over here on Video Game Chronicle with an interview here, and you're seeing Monster Under Wild's massive expansion, Descendants is a full promotion mode, and at Tokyo Game Show, VGC was able to catch up with the games development team. So, just get to some of the questions here. So, it says, "How important is Switch 2 as a platform for you considering its historical popularity on Nintendo platforms and the conso's Japanese install base?" So, Tushimoto says, "Yeah, there was definitely a big culture in Japan for getting together to hunt back in the PSP days and then on the 3DS. Of course, that existed in other countries as well, but I think there'll be a lot of players in Japan and around the world who'd be happy to have that experience again on Nintendo Switch 2 where you can actually gather together around the same table or the same area and have a local wireless hunt. So, it's important to us that we've been able to bring that because Switch 2 is ultimately, although you can also dock it, it's a handheld machine that you can bring anywhere. Another interesting aspect is that it allows us to through crossplay, it's kind of mixing the online and local experience. If you have a PlayStation 5 in your house, you probably haven't got a second one for someone else who's in the same household to play Monster Hunter Wilds with you. You would need both and be in separate places and connecting online. I think a lot of people have both a PlayStation 5 and a Switch 2 for instance. And that means that if you're in the same living room, you could just connect online using the crossplay back end. And if you're having essentially a virtual local wireless experience, even though the two consoles aren't directly connected. So, I'm excited to see the new possibilities for emerging uh crossplatform local. And then it says, will Ascendants release on Switch 2 simultaneously with other platforms? Says we're still in development and haven't announced a release date at all. So, at the moment, there's nothing we can really discuss about dates. So, that part sucks. the DLC. We don't know if it's going to be day and date on Switch 2, but they don't even have a release date for it yet. And obviously, they talk about obviously what lessons they've learned here going into Ascendants, how much of the gameplay additions were shaped by feedback. Obviously, a lot of questions going into the general stuff here around it. And it's not that I'm not interested in that. It's just that we need to get the base game on Switch 2 here first. Uh, but I'm just scrolling through the interview. I'm not seeing too much else specifically about Switch 2. You can only just tune into the stories you care about if that's all you're here for. All right, next up, uh we have something going on with Pokemon, in particular, the TCG. So, Nintendo Life has an article here saying, "Tiny violins at the ready. Pokemon scalpers are upset about the new expansion's profitability. I literally think you guys need the world's smallest violin. I don't think any of us feel bad for scalpers." Uh, anyways, the Pokemon Trading Card Game 30th anniversary expansion launched last week on the 16th of September, and the release was expectedly messy. Launch Day saw lengthy cues outside stores in the early hours of the morning, canceled and delayed pre-orders, and most infuriating of all, select individuals sitting on huge hordes of stock, preventing anyone else from getting involved. Well, get your tiny vinyl violins out and prepare to play the saddest song you can muster because it seems that the new set isn't shaping up to be quite as profitable as scalpers were hoping and they're not happy about it. Who cares? Like scalpers can just I I kind of I get it. It's like a whole industry and people make a living off it. I think it is super scummy. Anyways, it's legal, so it is what it is. As reported by IGN, the rare cards in the 30th anniversary expansion are in fact not really that rare with high pull rates reducing most cards value on the resale market. For those of us who enjoy the hobby of Pokémon card collecting, this is actually a really good thing. You stand a better chance of pulling new cards when opening packs, and cheaper resales make it easier to complete your collection. But that's not the case if you're a scalper and hoping to hit big from the set. So, the most expensive cards, I guess it looks like here based on poker investing, uh, it looks like maybe $4,200, uh, $4,3500, but then that's it. There's no cards worth like tens of thousands or 20,000 plus. And um, most of the other cards are worth, you know, obviously between 20 and $100. So, it's uh, great for collecting. Uh, not so much for scalping. And you know what? No one's going to feel bad for the scalpers. So anyways, it says here two to three years ago, quite literally on this subreddit, many people were anticipating the 30th anniversary as a bull catalyst for exit strategists for their investments. Uh the literal complete opposite happened. Another gave a slightly pathier response. I don't know. I like making money. And after a while, this set will stop making me money, so I don't like it. Which by the way, nobody cares. If you're into collecting Pokemon cards, if you're into the actual act of playing the trading card game, nobody cares if you're going to make less money off your resale value. just stop buying Pokemon cards if that's the reason you buy them. Anyways, we're just gonna leave it at that. Uh I know I still have some uh first generation Pokemon cards that still have some decent value. I think I have a uh first edition Blastoise. I've never gotten it graded, however, so that does obviously affect the value. But anyways guys, uh that's what's going on with uh Pokemon TCG right now. I think it's actually a good thing. But let me know what you think down in the comments below. Uh beyond all of that, how about this? Uh, Argos, a really major retailer in select countries, uh, did a massive discount on Switch 2 games and they got sold out, and you'll understand why in a moment. So, it says, "PSa, sorry, Argos, deep discounts on some top tier Switch 2 games have sold out like hotcakes, which is no surprise. So, big discounts on quality physical titles are such a rarity these days that much like us, you may have got a little excited if you checked out Argos and had delivered deep discounts on some Switch 2's best games. Alas, we should have known it was too good to be true as the savings were swiftly snapped up. So John Cart writes, the one who originally brought this up, it was Pokemon, Poctopia, Metro Prime 4 Beyond, Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, Star Fox, and Cyberpunk 2077 were all discounted to 20. Yes, 20 bar Star Fox, which was has a slightly cheaper RRP than the others. This was a less than half price saving on games that you could pour hours into, and it's the physical edition for all of them. Yeah, Popia is a game key card, of course. The rest of them are proper physical releases. The pages don't load anymore. They're completely sold out. Argos is not discontinuing Switch 2 games. So, this wasn't like a clearance sale where they're just trying to clear out inventory because they're done carrying this stuff. They're going to keep carrying these games moving forward. So, no one's really sure why Argos did these steep, steep discounts and sold out everything so quickly when they're still going to be carrying these games. Be different if they wanted to clear these out to carry other games, but they're going to continue to carry these ones. So, no one really knows why this sale happened, but obviously it was a huge success if the goal was just to get rid of everything. So, take that for what it is. Uh, hey, Costco or Sam's Club or someone around here. If you want to just randomly drop all the best Switch 2 games down to 20 bucks this holiday, I'm not going to complain. I'll tell you that. Maybe that's enough to get me off my game buying freeze when they're that cheap. All right, guys. Let's go ahead and get into a couple news stories here from Amazon. Uh, and these, you know, deal with Zelda Ocarina of Time. And we'll just kind of make this all one section here of Zelda goodness. First off, you know, we talked last time about where Ocarina of Time was on the Amazon bestsellers list for the video game section being number one, beating out all the digital currency and kind of holding there. Well, here it is today and it's actually at number four. Uh, so it's behind uh, you know, $10 Robux for Roblox, $10 PSN stuff for PlayStation. Uh, it's behind Luna Premium, which uh, has some other benefits attached to it. Uh but then you see Legend of Zelda: Ocarine Time still there as the top selling physical game uh ahead of the Microsoft card and the Microsoft controller and the Logitech mouse. And then you even ahead of Nintendo eShop credit. And then you scroll down here and the next bestselling thing that's actually like a video game I guess is Nintendo Switch 2. I guess you could argue. I know it's hardware, but that's crazy. And then it's uh what? Stellar Blade complete book, Steelbook Edition, and then Fire Emblem. All of these ahead of uh Sony's Wolverine. So quite interesting. of course. Uh it's interesting to see PlayStation 5 still selling pretty well considering it's now $650. Pretty crazy. But anyways guys, not really their fault. Not blaming Sony. There's too much stuff going on in the tech industry thanks to AI. That's really making things unaffordable for so many. Another thing I wanted to go to Amazon for quickly here was just to let you guys know about The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom: Secrets of the Zonai. This book is coming out in English. It was originally only in Japan and uh it's a 50page. It's a beautiful illustrations, character art, promotional images, all that stuff. The release date has now changed a bit. It is now releasing, according to Amazon, on March 30th, which is a Tuesday, 2027. So, just throwing it out there if you want to get your pre-order in. It's a little bit pricey, but this is a hardcover version of the book. So, you know, one of the higher quality versions, so take that for what you will. And for collector's purposes, who really cares? Uh, the last story that we're slipping into the Zelda section for the end of the video has to do with the 40th anniversary and Ocarina of Time. You remember Nintendo announced both of these Ocarenas as an option to buy around launch. One of them made by Horry, which is the electronic ocarina, which we've already seen uh function. And I need to correct a prior report I did on this. I said each of those buttons uh plays one of the 12 songs from Ocarina Time. That is absolutely true, but there's actually a switch you can turn on it to a mode where they're actually notes. So, you can play them as notes as well. Now, a lot of people are like, "Well, what's the point of an electric ocarina unless it's just someone who wants to collect it or someone who can't really blow into things, which, you know, medical conditions happen." So, Nintendo has a physical ocarina as well, but there's been no news about it other than it's supposed to be available in the Nintendo store. There's been no pre-orders. Hell, we haven't really seen pricing on it, but it's a physical ocarina with a little loop on it to assumingly tie it to your neck or whatever. Well, here's the thing. Uh, we might have some news on this, and I'm saying might because it's technically a rumor, but it comes from an account that uh shares a lot of like deals and and sales out there. Kind of like a Warrior 64 style account. And it's Elbots. Elbots's account that I have followed in the past. And it says, you know, regarding the Ocarina, I heard secondhand that someone at GameStop said there will be no pre-orders at its stores, but they will sell the Ocarina on and after launch day. Now, that is not official at all, and I don't actually know anything, but it does make sense why no one besides Hory and Nintendo have sold any pre-orders. I expect it to be everywhere in November. If we don't see it sooner, I'm watching for it. And again, there's no guarantee it'll even be in the stores. Uh, and this is all secondhand information from you guys is like third, fourthhand because I'm like third, it's third-hand information to me, fourthand to you getting it from me. So, take that for what you will, guys. Uh, I don't really know what's going on with that physical ocarina. Maybe it just is going to be a day one thing and they're not taking pre-orders. Um, that also means the stock will probably be limited and I guess the plan is to sell it day one and after. So, they're planning for resupplies. Take that for what you will. I have no idea. I haven't heard anything. I have one contact at GameStop. I did ask him about the story. He didn't get back to me in time for this video. So, I'm not sure if I can find out any additional information. If I do, I'll let you guys know. I suspect I'm going to hear pretty much nothing about this. Uh, because if it's like a day one thing, then it's like, okay, well, then there's no pre-orders. There's nothing else to really say. Uh, but we'll find out. Obviously, I guess on November 5th. So, if you're trying to get all of the 40th anniversary stuff and everything, you have all the amiios pre-order, got everything, but you don't have this physical hawker, just know you might need to go in store on the 5th to get it. Even if you have like online pre-orders for things shipped to your house, you might have to go physically in person to get it. I don't mind this. It actually avoids the scalping issue that the trading card company for Pokemon that we talked about earlier has been dealing with. All right, guys. Thank you so much for tuning in.
