Unboxing THREE pairs of Wootten Handmade Heritage Boots - and it’s Mayhem!

Hey credit. >> Yeah. >> David sent me a video of him opening the the boots that we made recently. >> Well, there's a few boots. What are they doing though? It's a disaster. >> How you going? Welcome back to my channel Bootlosophy, my channel about reviewing heritage boots and all things stitched boots, welted boots and so on. This is my friend David. He contacted me generously after having ordered three pairs of wooden boots from Victoria. Uh and he offered them to me unopened. So that um I could review them, unbox them and so on. But I said to him, I cannot deprive you of two or three weeks without your boots. I mean, you've already had them what? 5 days? >> Yes. >> Without opening them. Can you believe that? >> [laughter] >> So what we're going to do is we're going to open the unbox the uh boots together and then we'll go through all three boots and see what they are. Let's go. So here's the three pairs of boots that uh David has ordered and has received and a gorgeous bag. Do you want to tell us about that? >> Yes. Um Tech, first of all, thank you very much for for inviting me in. It's a privilege and an honor. Um this is um a beautiful tan colored bag from uh the lovely guys at Wooden. Um this is the larger one and I've also got a uh the mini one um for my partner who loves hers. >> Brilliant. >> Um and it fits exactly all three boxes. >> Oh, brilliant. Yeah. Exactly what you need. Okay, let's take the boxes out. This is I assume going to be a bit of pot luck, David. >> Yeah. >> Because you don't know what's in each box, do you? >> No, it's it's it's like the the three walnuts with the pea. Um >> [laughter] >> I know what the three colors are, but um we'll we'll see see as we open them which which is which. >> And as dangerous as I am with a knife and these this is your property. It's not going to hand the knife to you. >> [laughter] >> Thank you. I I always get scared when I watch you use the knife. So I'll try not to cut myself or anyone else. >> And I do know Wooden's packed them really well. >> Yes, the beautiful boxes. >> So how did you get to know Wooden? >> Well, through your website. I was looking to replace a very old pair of RM Williams at the time with another pair, but just thought I'd have a look online to see what people said and I came across your website and cut the eye. Yes, thank you. And then got dragged into the world of proper heritage boots and I was very attracted to to the Wooden boot. So that's all all through your your >> [laughter] >> lovely boot lossophy show. >> Have you visited them? >> No, I wish I and I was jealous when I saw you and Amanda that visited them and and one day I will. Next time in Melbourne I'll make sure I >> Fantastic. It is a bit of a hike to Ballarat though. All right, you want to open that one? >> Yes. >> Let's just pop the boots out. Oh, it's gorgeous. Okay, brilliant. >> Ah, so these are the so coasters. >> There's the coasters. I think that's just the in in box. You don't want anybody to see that. >> No. [laughter] These are the inserts insoles that go in there. So and then I noticed the family's getting bigger >> It is. Yeah, it is, isn't it? >> [laughter] >> Um Don't worry about making mess. Just chuck things out there. >> Oh. >> Okay. So, these I I know will be the coco dyed coffee. >> Gosh, that's nice. Is that the Jack? >> Sorry, that uh Yes, this is these all three are Jack. Uh heritage Jack heritage. >> All right. So >> So, the way Wooden does it, originals are off-the-shelf. Yes. And heritage is where you choose your different components. >> Yes. So, that So, what I'm wearing, which we can't see on camera right now, is the the teak These are the off-the-shelf teak >> Right. >> Jacks. >> Yeah, beautiful. Lovely color. >> Milk beautiful milk chocolate. >> Right. >> And these are the first ones I ordered. >> Be careful. Be careful. This is why I gave the knife to you. >> [laughter] >> What are they doing? >> I don't know. >> Oh my lord. Oh. Hopefully they like them. >> Yeah. I mean, at least the boots look good. >> Yeah. Yeah, we'll see how they go. >> Yeah. Nice one, guys. And I thought it was bad enough waiting for the teaks, which are which come pretty instantly, but it takes a lot of patience to wait when you're an impatient man like me for a few few weeks, a couple of months to get them. >> Oh. Probably only a couple of months. >> Mhm. >> And all three came together, which is good. >> Well, one came first, and the other two came pretty shortly afterwards. >> Right. Okay. So, now some more coasters. >> They're brilliant, aren't they? You're getting a collection, I assume. >> Yeah. Well, I ordered a what the the Well, I ordered and I had delivered to me one of the amongst others like the Wooden T-shirt beautiful T-shirt is magnificent fit. Most T-shirts, cuz I'm 6'4", and they usually just about come down here, but this is nice length. >> Yeah, nice material, too. >> Yeah, beautiful material. But, there's the the retro wooden t-shirt that comes that's got um >> It's free. >> Um it's got um Jesse's dad's RD RD rings. Like, you I've seen you with one on the camera, yeah. So, that comes with coasters. Now. >> Lovely. >> So, I don't know It will say on here which color, because two colors I ordered were quite similar. Does this sound >> the saddle tan? >> Ah, so saddle tan. >> The smell. >> Oh, yeah. So beautiful. >> Your inserts inside in this one. >> one, the inserts are inside, yeah. >> Beautiful smell. Jesse tells me when I visited him, he doesn't smell the leather in the workshop. >> He's probably accustomed to it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. [laughter] Right, and that's the saddle tan, I think. >> I think I'm being very clever leaving the knife work to you. >> Yeah. >> count my fingers at the end. >> always cut away from I've always been taught to cut away from myself. >> Which is going to be more dangerous for you than for me. >> [laughter] >> I know, that's fine. I'll stand far away. >> Whenever I do an unboxing, I count my fingers at the end. >> Yes. [laughter] >> I think they got these sort of ceramic type um knives. >> Knives now, but they wouldn't be much good for for plastic, I don't think. >> Dangerous enough as they are. >> Yeah. >> Keep your hand there. >> So, these >> The Oh, that's saddle tan dyed English tan. >> Oh, yeah. So, so so this is hand dyed whiskey, I think. Let me have a look back there. >> Saddle tan? >> Saddle tan. It doesn't say saddle tan, but but that is saddle tan hand dyed whiskey. >> Oh, I see. >> Which is So, this one says on the box saddle tan. >> Dyed Is it English tan? >> English tan, yes, yes. And they'll be quite similar, Chris said they'll be quite similar, which I'm more than happy with. It's more coaster. >> quite a collection there. >> Yes. >> Ah, yes, so they're quite >> Yeah, quite similar, but darker. And I'm not sure how it shows on the camera. >> of burnishing. >> Some burnishing. Oh, yeah, I said to to Chris some light not too heavy on the burnishing, so this beautiful exactly as I would love them. >> Terrific. Nice. Okay, let's go through them. All right, David, I'm going to start driving this video here. So, this is the Jack Heritage. In fact, they're all three Jack Heritages, aren't they? >> Yes, yes. >> And what color is this? >> That's cocoa dyed coffee hand dyed coffee. >> Cocoa hand dyed coffee, brilliant. Um beautiful beautiful Jack boot with Are they all the three the same last? >> Yes, I think they're all all the same. >> So, they're quite a dressy standard last. >> Yes, so like the >> Quite a nice toe. And um as the viewers will know, Just does what's called a McKay stitch. So, he Blake stitches a uh leather mid sole through the middle, and I'm not sure if you can see that. No, it's not enough light, but you can see a Blake stitch in there. Uh and then there is the um Thank you. There's the insoles, which uh for comfort on side and also it's about 3 mils of extra space. So it's nice and spacious. And then um just puts on the rubber outsole and then stitches through that the edge of the mid-sole as if it were a welt. Um what's what's this sole? It's a Is it a star something, isn't it? >> Yeah, star rubber I think it's called. Yes. >> So very grippy. And quite soft. >> Yes. >> Yeah. So what made you choose this leather? >> Well, I think this was the last of the three that I ordered. So I ordered um going from the photographs on the website the two lighter colors and then I decided I I would like a darker like the old chestnut color but a darker color and that that uh >> Oh, this is definitely darker than chestnut. You take a look at my chestnut RMs. >> Yes. >> That's a really deep color I think. Really nice. And as usual the stitching cuz you you already have a pair of Woodens. >> Yes. >> As usual the stitching's gorgeous, isn't it? >> Oh, it's so so well done. Yeah. >> And and it's not a heavy boot despite the old leather >> No. >> mechanism. >> They feel heavy when I put my shoe boot trees in and and try and carry a pair upstairs with the two trees in but they're beautifully beautifully light on the feet. >> Yeah, nice. And this one is the saddle tan, I think. >> Yes, that's the saddle tan. >> Hm. It look at the >> Hand dyed hand dyed English >> Right. >> It doesn't say on there but say that that was yeah, hand dyed English tan I think that was Oh, yes, it says hand dyed English tan. >> I think Chris does the tanning. >> Yes. >> Yeah. >> [cough] >> Very [clears throat] multi-talented family there. >> Yes. >> That's just a lovely shape. The goring shape is really nice and the um pull loops loop wooden uh handmade in Australia which they are. Uh in a lovely factory in Ballarat. And the wooden Can you see the wooden label? Really nice. The I find the rubber um that Wooden uses a little bit softer than RM Williams's rubber soles. Yes, but it seems to me to be a bit more durable. So, I'm not quite sure how that works. Yes. And this one, David, what's this one? >> This is uh hand-dyed. Uh I think it's again a a tan hand-dyed whiskey. It doesn't say it on the box, but it was Yeah, hand-dyed whiskey. >> And you can see the burnishing in the heel, a little bit down there, and a bit of burnishing in the toe. >> Yes. >> Oh, that's going to patina beautifully, isn't it? >> Yeah. >> I think that's going to go really well. >> Yeah. >> So, do you wear them hard? >> I would no. I I Jess would be very upset. I think he would love He would love me to be kicking around farms [clears throat] and scuffing them up, but these are my little babies and that I will only wear in the office uh in office type um scenarios. Yeah. To the pub and >> I I think that's for boot lovers, I think that's one of the things that we we do. We we we we have office lifestyles, don't >> Yes. Yeah, yeah, yeah. >> And we'd love to go out kicking and all that, but we don't. So, you know. >> No, these will not be boots for kicking around. >> [laughter] >> But they, you know, going to the pub, you're going to make a splash. >> Yes. Yeah, yeah. And And people expect around Perth, of course, to see uh being >> RM's >> the RM's, so they see a label sticking out. So, I'm always proud to So, when they say RM's, to say, "No, no, Wooden." >> Yes. >> Yeah. >> But then you have to explain that they're actually handmade. >> Yes. Yes, [laughter] cuz otherwise they think they're a cheap, you know, brand from the shopping center or something. >> Yes. >> You just give give them to one of somebody who says, "Oh, never heard of wooden." Just give it to one they'll go, >> Yes. Yes. >> feel that. >> Brilliant. Beautiful. Beautiful boots. No, they're lovely. I'm just very pleased with all three of them. And there's one more There is one more possible Well, I'll still order more of those even though these will last me will last me my through my years. There's a particular leather that I can't say too much about. >> Okay. >> That I'm hoping that that there'll be a small batch made that I'll tell you about if that happens. >> Okay. And have you thought of getting any of the lace, you know, the Gordons, for example? >> I'm not really too much of I may do. >> Yeah. >> I'm not so much a lace-up >> Right. Okay. >> boot, but having seen yours and how and how beautiful they are, I may well be tempted. >> Oh, this is so tempting, you know, if you had an open checkbook, we would be in trouble. >> [laughter] >> Yes. >> So, I hope you enjoyed that. I have deprived David of these boots for about 5 days. He didn't want to open the boxes until he got here.
