Video summary
Tony Gaskins opens his commentary by addressing Tyler Perry's recent statement that he fears getting married due to the financial losses many wealthy friends have suffered after divorces. While acknowledging Perry's status as a marriage advocate, Gaskins expresses deep disappointment that Perry would align with the narrative that marriage is a bad deal for men, particularly given the prevalence of "lame men" who use this excuse to avoid commitment. He argues that Perry's net worth is likely exaggerated and that even if one loses assets in a divorce, the money earned previously remains built into one's life and business, meaning there is nothing truly left to lose. Gaskins contends that single men often repeat these negative tropes because they lack the strength to be faithful or to love a woman deeply enough to cherish her, effectively admitting they are not "man enough" for the responsibility of marriage.
The speaker passionately refutes the idea that marriage is merely a business transaction or a financial risk, emphasizing instead that it is about love and building generational wealth through family. He illustrates the practical benefits of having a supportive wife who manages household duties, prepares meals, and provides emotional stability, allowing a man to focus on his career and personal growth without falling apart when life gets tough. Gaskins contrasts this with the dangers of casual relationships, where men risk contracting diseases from partners they barely know and do not love, highlighting that true safety comes from a committed, loving union. He also addresses the issue of men who claim to be against marriage but may actually be sexually confused or afraid of the commitment, urging them to confront their fears and stop acting like victims.
Furthermore, Gaskins discusses the profound spiritual and character-building aspects of marriage, noting that it teaches men how to lead, have tough conversations, and relate to someone twenty-four hours a day, which ultimately makes them better at managing professional relationships as well. He warns against the destructive cycle of leading women on without intending to marry them, explaining how this behavior causes immense emotional pain and cortisol buildup for single women who anticipate proposals that never come. The speaker asserts that marriage requires vulnerability and trust, challenging men to build mental fortitude around their hearts to withstand jealousy and doubt, thereby proving their strength rather than their weakness. He concludes by encouraging men to embrace the challenge of faithfulness, as it is the greatest thing they can do in their lives, and invites everyone to join his Purpose Pushers community for further support and accountability.

Try it out for a month. You cancel it
anytime you want to. You know, if it
ain't for you, it ain't for you. God
bless you. says, "Exit on out quietly.
You ain't even got to explain nothing to
me. I ain't even going to be mad at
you."
But yeah, so Tyler Perry
went on a show and he said that he
is not going to get married because
he saw all of his friends,
wealthy friends who lost their money, it
happened from a divorce.
And to me, you know, me being a a
marriage advocate,
it really and then maybe that's why he
made why did I get married and why did I
get married too? I think that's what
they was titled.
But me being a marriage advocate, it
really hurts me
that he took that approach that he said
that that he jumped on that bandwagon
because it's so many lame men that's
saying the same thing
by I can't get married. That's how you
lose all your money. Marriage ain't a
good deal for men. And it's like, man,
hush.
Like shut up.
Like marriage ain't doing nothing to
you. And see the thing about it is okay
Tyler Perry said
they say he worth a billion dollars or
more. This what people got to
understand.
He don't have a billion dollars. He
probably not even really worth a billion
dollars. It just that's what they say
cuz you could do your own valuation.
Same thing like the lady
from Uncle Nerish did a valuation said
it was valued at the whiskey company in
Tennessee said it was valued at
a billion dollars and now she bankrupt.
The company is tow up from the flow up
being trying to sell it off. So how you
was worth a billion dollars and then a
year later ain't got a dime to your name
losing everything. It just be numbers.
Like I could go get a valuation and I
went online to Upwork and got a
valuation and they valued Tony Gaston's
Academy at $1.5 million. I think it was
probably, you know, five, six years ago.
I did that.
And he was like, it's hard to value it
because it's in your name. He's like,
it's not a company outside of you.
That's you.
So, if you not promoting it, then what
is it worth? And
same thing, it's like
somebody may come and buy Tyler Perry
rights to all his movies one day, like
his portion of if he got, you know, back
in points or something or if he own any
of it. They may buy it, buy the catalog,
but it ain't going to be for a billion
dollars.
And so it's like you really you can't
really lose nothing because your money
is not in stocks like and and the money
you already made. You already made that
money. That money that money gone like
built that studio and all of that. It's
like you really ain't got nothing to
lose. But the sad and unfortunate part
about it is broke men is repeating
and playing this same saxophone.
Broke men talking about marriage is not
a fair deal to the man. And it's like,
bro,
you need marriage in this economy. You
need one of these working women to help
your butt out. Like you talking like
imagine living on just your one income
and you not no millionaire.
It's like boy you need to be married.
Boy
don't make no sense. You might need two
three wives. You might need to get in
one of them other kind of religions and
get you multiple wives. You need so much
help out here in this economy.
It's like my wife don't work. It's like
right now I'm kind of wishing she did
like
like do you want to go back to school?
Do you want to finish school? Is there
anything you want to do? You want to be
a RN?
Like what is it that you want to do? Cuz
this economy hard. So it's like men are
saying they don't want to get married.
What you got to realize
marriage is about love. And if you marry
somebody that you love and you marry
somebody that you have spent time with,
you done talked to, you done built with,
you done did all that right there with,
like you really get to know this person,
and you marry her,
you not going you not going to fall out.
that marriage not going to end because
you married her and you married her for
the right reasons.
And that what a lot of people don't
understand like
you got to make marriage about love and
not about business.
And so basically when when y'all men say
that marriage ain't a good deal for you,
what you really is saying is that you're
not man enough for marriage. You're
saying that you don't have
the strength to be faithful.
You're saying you don't have what it
takes
to love a woman, to cherish a woman, to
wash her with love, to get her in a
place and in a mind state that she wants
to
be with you and she wants to stay with
you because of how much she loves you.
That's what you saying. You saying that
you can't do that.
And that's what I want y'all to realize
and understand, man. Like, it come down
to where
you have got to
get to a place
where you stronger,
where you know, you realize, you
understand that marriage is about
advancement. Like this what this what
Tyler Perry and Shannon Sharp and
Stephen A. Smith
all these millionaires I don't know if
Shannon is a millionaire. He could be
working for nothing right now because of
that lawsuit.
But this what these guys not
understanding
is like
y'all could change the world with that
generational wealth.
like having a wife, having kids, and
they got kids now. All of them got kids,
but you teaching your kids not to marry.
You teaching your kid that marriage
ain't safe. Marriage ain't secure.
Marriage ain't wise. Marriage ain't
something you should do. That's what you
teaching your kids. So, you sending the
wrong message to your kids.
Man, this lady out here airing up her
tire
in that old vehicle and got a baby in
the front seat in this heat. It's 91°
and I know she ain't got that car crunk
up and turned on. I can tell how that
car look.
Man, I feel bad for her. My goodness.
And so this what you got to realize and
understand
that
it's not going to be easy.
It ain't meant to be easy.
But if you can take
and give what it takes to get married,
to stay married, man, listen to me.
You going to be able to figure something
out out here. Now, yes, it's hard being
married cuz you got to take care
so much. Like, I got to take care of my
wife, take care of my kids,
take care of my mom, take care of my
mother-in-law. You know, a lot come with
being married.
I ain't going to cap with you. A lot
come with it. But, and it's hard. Like,
yeah, I ain't got the money I want. I
ain't got Tyler Perry money. And and
ironically, a lot of single men, they do
get to the money because they could tend
to themselves.
They could just focus on themselves.
Whereas, as married men, we got to tend
to to our wife. We got to tend to other
things. And that's a real thing. And so,
that's what you got to realize. You
know, I have to tend to the world. So, I
got a lot going on. I got to think about
my wife and all of that there. And
that's not easy. It's not the
easiest thing in the world when you have
to account for
somebody else
heart, somebody else feelings,
you know, their emotions, and you
depending on them for certain things.
And
it's hard
in those times,
you know, and You got to go through
that. That's part of it. That's part of
being a man. That's why God put us in
that place.
And as a man, it's like when you
married, you learn really how to lead.
You learn how to have tough
conversations.
You learn how to relate because you now
learning how to relate to somebody
24 hours a day. like you learning
what it takes to really be a man.
And it's going to make you better in
your business
because when you got to learn how to
keep things copatic,
keep things together
with somebody
that you got to be around 24 hours a
day.
It's going to be a lot easier trying to
figure out,
how to be around somebody
and work with somebody
for
8 hours a day, 4 hours a day, 10 hours a
day. because you done learn how to deal
with somebody
for
24 hours a day. And so that's what you
got to realize and understand.
It teaches you things that you can't
really get nowhere else.
You can't get that nowhere else.
You ain't going to be able to.
So you got to realize that
it's things that God put in place
in marriage for us to grow us, to teach
us, to help us.
And you got to help me.
You got to help me.
What time is it? 11. Okay, let me let me
get going cuz I'm supposed to have more
of this water drunk. Let me drink some
of this here water. Y'all give me a
second. trying to drink the whole water.
My wife got me this whole bottle off
Amazon.
Got 74 oz glass, too. And then the bike
got the times on it. So, right there
where I'm at
I'm at
about 2:00 p.m. and it's about to be
2:00 p.m. in
uh
about 30 minutes. So
yeah, about 30 minutes. So about right
on time. Drink them a little water. That
water help, you know. I'm trying to
drink a gallon a day. I don't know if I
get through a gallon. This ain't a
gallon. This This 74 oz. gallon 128
ounces. So I'm going to need to go home
to fill this up, keep on drinking. But
this a good start, though. So that's
what I want y'all to realize. And it's
unfortunate that Tyler jumped on that
bandwagon
and he probably going to be making
movies about me now trying to talk bad
about me trying to write what he assume
is exposing us married men and how he
think we live.
But it's like listen rather be married
than to be single
because
marriage is hard. Marriage hard, man.
It give you a challenge in your life.
It's like, man, it'll be so easy to live
by myself and to just go out here and
sleep with random people, sleep with who
I want to sleep with, deal with this
person, court that person a little bit,
sleep with them, find an excuse to break
up with them, go to the next person,
and you just rinse it and repeating.
That's going to get old. It's going to
get old. taking somebody who done been
out there been out there heavy. It's
going to get old. You need to find you
somebody. Find you your person
and make it happen. Make it work. Get
with your person and lock in and make it
work
because that's what it's going to take.
That's what it's going to take.
So, I want you to realize and
understand,
get to that place.
Know where you at. Know what you going
through. Like, understand what it's
going to take.
Understand
that
you have to be a man. And it's
unfortunate
that we have men taking this stance. And
I'm going to tell y'all boys like, you
have to stop being scary and you have to
stop being
a punk and you have to stop being a
victim
because look how you talking.
Oh,
marriage ain't no good deal for me.
I don't really understand that because
when you married,
and this just me talking to the men,
ladies, y'all forgive me for this, but
when you married, you got a chef,
you got a maid, and I ain't saying like
no real maid, but you got a maid,
you got a assistant,
you got a a sex partner,
whatever you want to call
sex play. Like you got a best friend.
Like you got everything in one person.
Like unhel me. Drinking my second
smoothie of the day made by my wife.
Bottle of water
made by my wife. Had breakfast this
morning. I made my breakfast just two
boiled eggs. Lunch I already ate. Wife
made it. dinner. Wife going to make it
then get to get him a little bit of
Nookie cookie for dessert
coming from a wife
and it's like listen that's somebody you
get to explore with
thing you trying to do in there. You get
to have it all and you get to have it
safe.
When you are out here sleeping with
different women, you don't know what
spiritual diseases she has, what
physical diseases she has. And yes, you
could live with herpes and it's
manageable and all of that. And
everybody they say got herpes, 85% of
people. So yeah, you can live with it
and all of that, but don't you at least
want the choice to know if that's what
you f to sign up for? Do you love her
enough? Do you like her enough to
contract that from her? Like, yeah, you
can live with it and have a seemingly
normal life, but do you want it? Do you
want to contract it from her? Do you
care enough about her to do that? That's
the risk you taking is you can contract
something from a woman that you barely
know,
that you don't care for, that you don't
love. And so you got to ask yourself, is
it really worth that? Is it worth that
to contract a disease, a spiritually
transmitted disease or a sexually
transmitted disease from this woman? And
then if you say, "Well, I'mma lock in.
We going to be together. We just we
ain't doing no paperwork."
It's like, then you must not believe in
God. Because if you're going to be with
her and be fornicating, then why not do
the paperwork? And people say, "Oh, well
marriage is between that just between
you and God." The Bible say obey the
laws of the land. So if the laws of the
land says that you're not married if you
don't have paperwork with the
government, then you're not married.
That mean you disobeying the laws of the
land
and you're not technically married. So
therefore, you're in fornication.
And in fornication, you are outside of
the will of God. So you're saying you
want to go at this life alone. You want
to do it your way, how you want to do
it. That's what you saying
when you say that.
So, you got to realize and understand
that.
You got to realize that
y'all forgive me. Making me a little
coffee.
So once you realize and understand that
and you get that through your mind
and y'all forgive them old junky right
there. That's the boy summer program.
All they uniforms and
all their uniforms and duffel bags and
all of that. I'm get online sell that
stuff. So hey, you know what? I might
get with Manny Packy y'all.
Send them uniforms to Philippines. have
me a team in the Philippines called TGE.
Yes, sir.
So, the boy summer program, I'm planning
to switch that to learning centers. So,
essentially, it'll be like a place like
this, but just a square, not all these
rooms, and it'll have computers down the
down the runway, down the side of the
wall on both sides. And I'm going to put
them in walking distance of middle
schools and high schools so that the
kids who don't want to get out there in
the streets, they really don't want to
be in the streets. They get to be able
to say, "Hey, I'm in Tony Gaskin's
mentorship program. So, I'm going to the
center."
So, that's what we setting up. So, when
the Lord bless you, if you ain't got
nowhere else you giving to, click the
link in the description. We love to have
your support the boy summer program. You
going to get to see what what your
donations go to. It's not going to be a
Dr. Umar situation where I'm raise it
all up, buddy. Then you don't get to see
nothing for decades.
No, you going to get to see it. I'mma
show it to you. We just still looking
for the thing. So, I got to hire a
realtor, find me the right place, but I
also got to have the money in place so
that we could go ahead get the computer,
take care of the rent. I may just take
care of the rent the whole year up
front. So, um, think about us now. Y'all
forgive. I'm making me a little little
coffee.
Making a little coffee.
Yes, sir.
It's telling me to add water, but I got
water in
Got.
Add a little bit of my water out of
here.
So yeah, so
this the thing
and it's sad that we got a Christian man
that's going to take and say what he's
saying
because I thought Tyler Perry was a
Christian.
But you can't call yourself no Christian
if you gonna sign up to live in
fornication.
You just can't. You can't do that. Now,
if you going to be abstinate, okay,
cool. All right. Now, that's different.
And I'm going tell you like this right
here, and I don't mean no offense.
I don't mean no offense by this,
but for me
as a man,
I feel like a lot of, not all, it's
never all, but I feel like a lot of the
men who are very very against marriage
are sexually confused.
I feel like a lot of them may be
bisexual
or a lot of them may be actually more so
into men
and they afraid to get married
to a woman because that's going to
become like a prison to them. And I
think that's the case with a lot of
them. And it it breaks my heart that
they are going through that that they
feeling like that. And I'm going to tell
you like if you a single man, a man, a
single man, and you wondering like,
"Hey, is marriage for us? Is marriage
the thing to do?" Like, go to my mentor.
Book a session with me. Tyler Perry,
book you a session with me and sponsor
about a hundred men who feel like you
since you don't want to get married. and
sponsored about a hundred men to do a
session with me so I could talk to them
about the benefits of marriage. Marriage
the greatest thing you ever going to do
in your life. It's the hardest thing you
going to do in your life if you're going
to do it right and be faithful and you
going to love that woman and treat her
right. It's the hardest thing you going
to do in your life.
But it's also
the greatest thing you going to do in
your life.
And I want you to realize and understand
that point blank period odd ain't no if
hands and buts about it cuz it's going
to do more for your life than anything
else in your life. It's going to bless
you like none other. And that's one
thing you got to realize and you got to
act and you got to remember like okay
I'm married. My wife don't watch these
videos. So if marriage aren't the best
thing for you I could tell you she
wouldn't know. She don't watch my
videos.
She don't eat my videos. But I'm telling
you, as a married man, man, it's a sweet
life. If you going to lock in,
it's a sweet life. And I hate to say
that to women cuz a lot of time women
feel like they got a short end of the
stick. And maybe women do got the short
end of the stick. But think about it.
They say only they say 70 80% of women
can't have a release during intercourse.
That's not the case for a man. We having
a release every time you intercourse.
And we having that thing in 30 seconds
to a minute.
We feeling good. You hear me? And then
you get to get that thing when you want
to. And now Yeah. Okay. Yeah. You all
right? You go around two, you go five
minute, 10 minutes, long as you want to
go. But it's like we blessed. Like you
got cooking,
cleaning,
conversation, confidant,
just booty walk around.
See boot in the thong anytime you want
to touch on it. You got somebody you
could just game plan. You could pillar
talk. You lay there. You talking about
all that woo woo woo everything you want
to do. And it's in house. It's
secretive.
Got somebody that's going to protect
your name. That's going to prepare for
you. Somebody that's that that hold it
together when you falling apart. Like I
got to get on the road for two whole
days. I'mma be gone. The whole work and
waking day of Thursday, the whole day of
Friday and half of Saturday. And my
wife, she going to be happy. She going
to move around. She going to do
everything
and she ain't going to have no issue.
She going to do everything she got to do
and live life and just do what she got
to do.
And she ain't going to miss a beat.
Ain't going to miss a beat. And that's
what a lot of people don't realize and
understand. It's like, come on now. Like
really think about this thing. You feel
me? Think about this thing. like
that what she f to be doing and just
holding it together. My son is secure.
He he got what he need. His mama there.
And anytime I want to do something, I
want to launch something. Purpose
pushers community link in the
description. Make sure you join us. So,
I want to launch that right there.
Boom.
Guess what?
Got my wife that I could sit and talk to
about it. Hey baby, what you think about
this right here? The wood.
And think about that.
Got that right there.
I'm on here on the purpose push
community right now hitting the thumbs
up on all the quote of the day and
all that right there.
Questions of the day,
but I'm able to talk to her about it. My
book, Single is Not a Curse, that's
inspired by my wife. She gave me that
idea. She said, "Listen, you know, it's
a lot of single people that follow you.
They going through. they want to be in a
relationship, like write a book for
them. Help them understand what they
could do in this season of their life
while they
waiting on love.
And so that book wouldn't have came to
life without my wife.
And
anything I need to do, anything I'm
thinking about, anything I'm going
through, any of that, she there for me.
You just cannot beat marriage.
and text my wife right now. She at the
nail salon
just let her know send her some more
money to her card and use my other card
to pay for her nails. So it's like, hey,
that come with it. But guess what?
Nails ain't free now.
Nail a free
come tonight.
Yo.
Hey. What going on with you? How you
doing?
Pier still on.
What going on with you? You know what
I'm saying? Like that's marriage. Like
you not married. You got to go find you
some random boot out here. Got to go
pluck you some off the street home. You
got to get that woman who was out there
pumping her airing her tire up behind me
when I pulled in. You got to go get you
something like that. You diving in
there,
you're dirty,
stank
all you don't know how many men have
been in there in the last week and here
you go diving in there
just just
maggot diving. You diving into the the
the bottom of the trash dumpster with
the maggots. cuz you sleeping with this
random woman you met at the club, this
woman you met at the gas station. And
then if you not planning on getting
married and you got a steady woman,
you ruining your name because you're
lying to her, you're leading her on.
She is ignorant. So she thinks that if
she keep doing all the right things that
you're going to give in one day and
you're going to marry her. That's what
she telling herself. That one day you're
going to give in. You're going to fall
in love.
She going to suck the meat off the bone
and you just gonna fall for her and
marry her.
And every holiday, every time she with
her friends and family, every time
something come up, she anticipating
you proposing.
And she got so much cortisol in her
blood stream cuz she waiting on you to
propose and
every holiday come and go and she get
her heart broke.
And that's what you got to realize and
understand.
So now her heart broke. She sit there,
she like, "Man,
I thought he was going to propose
and he ain't proposed.
What am I going to do?" And that's the
thing that you got to realize and
understand.
It could mess you up. It really could
mess you up. And you out there living
that life. And then the thing about
living that life
is one day
you could take
and here you is boom.
She put that thing to your head. She put
that fire on you cuz she sick and tired
of waiting. Or she catch you cheating.
She catch you cheating and next thing
you know,
boom,
you wake her dead
cuz you want to lead on. You want to
play with them.
And so here's the thing. There's
something to say
about a man signing up for the challenge
of faithfulness.
You challenging yourself, you pushing
yourself, you testing yourself.
Just the the mental fortitude,
the fortress that you build around your
heart and your mind,
the vulnerability that you experience
with one person
to let your guard down and to let her in
wholly and fully
loving, caring, trusting, cherishing.
I got a colleague who says
victory
goes to the vulnerable.
And man, that's powerful.
That's powerful.
And that's what you got to realize. That
what you got to realize, man.
So, I want you to think about that. Want
you to think about that. And
Get that through your spirit, you know,
get that in your spirit and get to the
place to where you understand that.
So get that in your spirit
and once you start to realize and
understand and you get to see
just the benefits of marriage
and it's going to be pros and cons to
everything. It's always going to be pros
and cons. You know that's that's a part
of it and you got to realize that. you
know it it's that's that's going to
happen.
That's going to happen and that that
comes with it. So once you realize that
and you see like oh you know what yeah
stuff go with it but
at the same time you still can make the
most of it. you still can make the
marriage work. Because I'll tell you
like the hardest thing about marriage
is
you.
That's the hardest thing about marriage
is you.
You curving your appetite for lust.
That's it. Like you developing the
mental, the emotional intelligence. So
like as men, especially if you got a
past, you got a background, we don't
trust. So I got my wife location on my
phone. She got mine, we got the boys. So
if I'm seeing her riding around and she
ain't told me where she going, then my
mind could easily go to, man, I wonder
if she going to meet up with her
ex-boyfriend or I wonder if she going to
meet up with her male friend from high
school or from college. Like I wonder
what she doing, you know? I wonder if
somebody if a dude shot his shot at her,
if she gave her number, you know, I
wonder what she got going on.
And you being able to have the mental
fortitude, the emotional intelligence to
say, "Hey, I'mma just trust.
I'mma trust. Come hell or high water,
I'mma trust. No matter what, I'm going
to trust. And I'mma give her
the the room to show me who she is.
I'mma give her enough rope to help
herself or to hang herself.
It's up to her. I'mma let her show me
who she is. I'mma trust her to no end.
And I'm gonna trust that if she doing
something,
it'll get messy and it'll come out.
And if that's the case and it comes out,
I could walk away
knowing that I did everything I could to
love her, to trust her, to honor her,
that I did nothing to deserve her
cheating on me or lying to me. and I'm
going to move forward with my life
without stressing about that. And you
get the opportunity to do that. You get
to do that. And that's what I want you
to realize and understand.
So it comes down to it to where
you have to be man enough. Well, I got
to go got to coach in two minutes. You
got to be man enough to get to that
place
and to realize and understand
that this is going to grow you.
This going to strengthen you.
This going to make you better.
This how you going to build.
And you got to understand that. You got
to realize that
it's not going to be easy.
It is not going to be easy,
but once you get that through your your
skull and you start to realize and
understand that right there, that's
going to change everything for you. It's
going to change everything for you. So,
