trying on "bra free" tops, solo self care day & nostalgic perfume hunting at TJ maxx!

[music] Heat. [music] >> [music] [music] >> Hello everybody. Welcome back to another vlog. Today I am having an at home day. I am getting some stuff done around the house. I'm doing some filming. I'm going to try on some things. It is a Tuesday, but it's kind of like a Wednesday for me because we're leaving to go back to Arizona in a couple of days. So, I think this might be the last vlog you see of us here before we head back to Arizona for a little while. And we're just going to yeah, like get some stuff done around the house. I have some computer work I need to do. I want to really get far into my book. Like, I want to take a good chunk out of reading my book today. And I've been wanting to maybe jump around between like my audio book and reading my book. So, we may have to do that at some point. I've actually spent the entire morning filming and editing already. So, it is now like 11 a.m. So, I think first things first, I want to go downstairs. I want to make a little snack. It is getting quite toasty in Southern California. We're having a bit of a heat wave. I think by the time I post this, it'll be over, but I do want to like get a little bit of sun. I've been trying to get my vitamin D up, but like I just want to be outside before it gets too too hot outside, you know? Like have a little outdoor time, relax a little bit. So, maybe we'll make a little snack and then we'll have some outside time and then we will continue on with our day. All right. So, I'm thinking for my snack, I want to do like a little snack plate. So, like crackers, like a meat stick, some cheese, something light, cuz I'm not going to have It's not that long until lunch. I have some pretzels that are barely stored. We've got some crumbs left basically. It's fine. I'm actually glad these are getting eaten. And who else loves the bottom of the bag? The bottom of like Cheeits, pretzels, all that salty goodness. I'm going to do one of these. What are these called? Mighty Spark chicken snack sticks. We got these from Costco. Cut these into some little pieces. And I'm going to have my daily kiwi. If you know, you know. I'm just going to rinse this off. And I eat mine with a spoon. Should I try to eat the skin today? No, I don't want to. Some people do. I just I don't really like it. Oh, she's a beauty. And then I guess I have one of these stringy cheeses. These are bluey stringies. So cute. Oops. Sorry, the sink's in your way. I love that faucet, by the way. I'm so glad we got that. And then my little string of cheese. So, here is oop here is my little snack. And if you're like, Carrie, that looks like the perfect bowl for snacks and dinners and breakfasts. And it's like a plate bowl combo. I would agree. Like, they're just so nice. Also, these gorgeous napkins. Look at these with like the mustard, yellow, and cream stripe. These are going to be so cute outside. And then we'll also use them just for everyday as well. And then, of course, we have the umbrella. We have been using this umbrella non-stop. It's amazing for outside on the patio, but also I've been taking it to the beach cuz there's an attachment where you can twist it into the sand. So, it's very multi-use. It is so cute. I love the fringe. It really is like the cherry on top, especially out on our back patio. It's adorable. And I'm so excited to bring these kind of like warmer, cozier elements into my kitchen, to my outdoor space. I finished um Strangers by Bel Burton and now I'm listening to Famesick by Lena Dunham. I am barely into chapter 1. I'm 11 13 minutes into it. So, I've got a ways to go. >> I couldn't bring myself to stay for longer than 5 months at any given job. It [music] seemed to be about the cut off when whoever was employing me realized I had no applicable skills. [music] All right, the next thing I wanted to do was I wanted to try on some more tank tops from Classy. Is it Classy Network or is it just Classy? Cuz I see both, but they are I'm actually wearing one of their tank tops right now. Obviously, not sponsored, but they are a brand that makes either built-in padding or built-in shelf bras in like all of their tops. And it's been incredible. There's removable cups. Like, I really enjoy them a lot. And I've done a couple different try on and I'm going to set you down on my tripod so you can see me try them on. But yeah, basically I have so many of their stuff of their tops. I feel like it's hit or miss for sure, but the ones that I love I love. And so I decided to get a few more cuz I have a couple like everyday ones that I wear, but I kind of wanted to try on a few more because I am probably like the wearing a bra number one hater in the world. Like I just hate it so much. So, I decided to get myself one, two, three, four, five, six tops. I don't think I'm going to keep them all. I'm going to test them out, like try them on, you know? But who knows? I might because I'm not joking. I wear one of these tops every single day. So, what is this one? Oh, this is a halter top. I don't like this material very much. It is like bathing suit material. Like literally, I'm not exaggerating, like bathing suit. But, I mean, it might be nice for summer. Yeah, I just thought like a cute little white halter might be good. We'll see about that. I don't know. I much prefer the kind of more cotton like ones. I mean, the lining a lot of times they're lined and that's not cotton, but I don't know. We'll see. Then we have this one. This is a little striped tube top. This looks kind of small. We'll see. That looks cute though cuz I mean it's going to be warm here for a while now. doesn't really cool down until like November. Um, I have had one like this before, but I ordered it in the wrong size. So, I ended up selling it on Poshmark or maybe I donated it. I can't remember. And so, I got it in the right size, and it's this halter top that has the black polka dots, and it has more of like a retro halter, which I think is cute. I have that one in yellow, and I like it a lot. It's in Arizona. I have another tube top in a black stripe. I have this in the tank top form in a red stripe and I really like it. So, we'll see how I feel about that. And then what is I just don't gravitate towards wearing the tops in my closet unless they have like a built-in bra in them. I'm just always reaching for these. So, I got the tank top. There's this one, but there's another one that I have that I'm not kidding I wear every day. And so, I got it in black because, you know, switch it up a little bit. And then also like when I'm freshly fake tanned, I don't have to worry about it getting on the armpits. And then same thing in gray. So there we go. Let's try them on. See how we feel. All right. So here we have this first one. Okay. I'm not going to lie. This is really cute. When I first put it on, I was like, "Yeah, no. I don't think so." Like with the like track pants that I had on. Then I put on the jeans and I was like, "Yeah, this is super cute." And at first I was like, "It's too tight. It's too fitted." But actually, it's the perfect size. I think this would actually be a really nice addition to my wardrobe. The only other thing is I have a similar top. It is from ASOS and it has red stripes on the side, but it doesn't have a built-in bra. So, this one you just throw and go. Like, it's the best. So, I'm leaning towards keep for this one. I don't know. I'm going to do like a keep versus return. We'll see. But, I'm I'm thinking I might need to keep this one. All right. Here we have the tube top. I'm not sure how I feel about this. I actually took out the pad on this side cuz I was like, is it too, you know, va voom? So, yeah, as you can see, the padding is it's got like a decent thickness to it. And um it's nice cuz you can remove them, you can put them in, whatever. But I don't know. This actually is pretty cute. We like it for something different. I don't love that it's not like laying perfectly even and so it looks because it like folds up and stuff, it looks like the pattern's skewed. Does that make sense? I'm not sure. This one's a maybe. And then here is the polka dot halter. This one's like a bit longer, so I felt like I needed to sort of scrunch it up a little bit because it looks kind of weird. But like looking at in the viewfinder, I really like it. But when I look at it in the mirror, I'm like, I don't know. I might be just being critical. But I feel like if I had more of a sort of mid-rise, lowrise jean with it, like my Gap Haley Bieber ones, then maybe that might look better or like my Gauchos or something like that. So I'm going to hang on to it. I think I do think I [laughter] like tend to gravitate towards the same things, which is like white tank top, simple, whatever. But that's just like my favorite look of all time is a white tank top, jeans, and like flip-flops. Like truly, that's the sexiest outfit in the world to me. So, I guess I'll hang on to it. It is really cute, and I think it'll be nice to mix and match with other things besides just like jeans or shorts or whatever. So, I'm leaning towards keep for this one. Let me know your thoughts. All right. In here we have this one, the striped tube top. I don't know. Like it doesn't look bad by any means, but I just don't know if I want to keep it. Like it feels like either I wish it was a tiny bit longer or that I just wish I had a tank top version cuz I don't know if I'm feeling specifically the tube top. I don't even really know how much I'm into tube tops these days in general. Like I used to be just a tube top girl. Like any tube top I'd be so down for. But now I'm like But it is cute. It's like a nice classic simple one. And also, I don't like the biggest thing is when I am freshly fake tanned, I always get marks on the side of my white tank top. So, this being black striped, you're not going to be able to see anything. And it is nice to have. So, maybe I'll keep this one. Return the brown and white striped one. Don't really see a point in keeping both, but we'll see. And then we have the two classics left. I mean, this one is an obvious yes. It's like an everyday can go with everything super simple black tank top. I have another one that I thrifted that's amazing. I love it. It's from Mossimo. But the only thing is the straps are extremely long. So it hangs down like really low and it just feels a little, you know, and this one is perfect. Like it fits me like a glove. I have an XL in all of these, by the way. Forgot to mention that. Every single one of these shirts is in an extra large. And it is so cute. I love this one. Ooh, new bombshell. Just entered the villa. We have a new top contender. I love this. I absolutely love this. This is so cute. This is honestly just as cute, if not cuter, than a white tank top. Like, I like the gray so much. Sometimes I avoid gray because I'm a sweater. I'm a sweaty gal. At least in the summer time, like especially right here and then a little bit right here. So, like sometimes I worry about that. But this one is lined. The last two of these actually have had a lining underneath them. And it's this kind of Yeah, like moisture wicking material. So, I'm hoping that'll help a little bit with like the moisture, but it's so cute. I'm keeping it for sure. So, I'm thinking for keep it's going to be for sure the black and gray and then maybe the polka dot halter, maybe the white halter, maybe the black and white striped tube top. We'll see. Leave your thoughts. Hello. It is the next day and I'm just [clears throat] getting ready to run some errands to head out and about. I'm putting in these like earring things that I tried out for like a testing what is it called? Testing Tik Tok trends video and it's a earring that makes it look like you're wearing a full stack. But why are these hanging down so low? I feel like the older I've gotten, the more my ear holes have like stretched out. They're not as high up as they used to be. But okay, so now it looks like I have three piercings. I'm still not opposed to getting more piercings. Like I would actually love to maybe get my second or third piercings done, but I'm just like a little put off by the healing. I know lobes aren't that big of a deal, but I don't know. I've had my ears pierced since I was like nine, so I don't know if I really want to go through that again. But anyways, just got out of the shower. I'm ready for the day. And the first thing I want to do is I again have been influenced. I really want to check out TJ Maxx and see if they have any like I don't want to say vintage or actually maybe it is but I've been seeing people posting like older perfumes like Britney Spears perfumes, Paris Hilton perfumes and these were like truly everything to me back in the day. So if I could find like Britney Spears Curious or Fantasy or like Paris Hilton's perfume or I've seen people find Tommy Girl like all sorts of different things. I would actually love to curate a collection of perfumes. I've never really done that. I have these two currently here. Oh, and then I have my Costco one. It's the Corez Vanilla Frieia, which is amazing. And I love this combo. This is the EOS vanilla cashmere body mist mixed with the Soul de Janeiro 59. Like that smells amazing. But I just want to like yeah curate some really cute perfumes, some really nice perfumes, especially really nostalgic perfumes and then maybe put them on display on a shelf somewhere. We still like entering year two of living in this house. We still have a lot of projects that we want to do. Like I want to get a whole thing over here so I can like store things. I want to do stuff with these shelves. It needs some work. But anyways, I have a package to drop off. I would love to get some sort of like smoothie or protein shake or something like that. And then maybe we could pop around TJ Maxx and just see what they've got in the perfume department cuz I don't know if I've ever even looked. So, we're going to check. All right. I think the first place I'm going to stop is Sprouts because some Sprouts have juice bars and so if this one does, maybe I'll get some kind of smoothie. If they don't, maybe I'll get like a bar or something like that because I'm just craving like a fun little snack. So, we'll start there. And then there's a TJ Maxx kind of nearby, so we'll do that afterward. Oh my goodness, it's starting. Pumpkin everywhere. There's also pumpkin over here, too. Wow, so much pumpkin. Banana bread creamer. That sounds incredible. If I wasn't like going around, I might get that. There's some new Chvani Blips that are pumpkin flavored. >> Yum. There's also a couple new lollipop flavors. There's caramel apples, and then apple juice. Salted caramel and banana yogurt, spiced apple cider, banana cream latte, pumpkin spice latte. Everyone's really catching on to the banana thing. And honestly, I'm so glad. Banana and coffee is so good. I need to come back and get some of these to try. Okay, I'm going to get these cuz I'm a big fan of these chocolate quinoa crisps already. And there's a pumpkin spice flavor. And I just ran out of my currant ones yesterday, the chocolate and currants. So, I'll try this later. But for now, I want some kind of bar. And in case you're like, "Didn't you just buy like 10 bars at Whole Foods a couple of weeks ago?" Yes, I did. Now I need more. I don't actually know. We'll make a last minute [music] decision and see what we end up getting. >> Thank you. >> All right. I ended up getting a few things like some to just kind of taste test and then some to have for later like these undercover dark chocolate and pumpkin spice bites. It has like quinoa, like crispy quinoa in there. It's really good. I got more of these That's it bars. It's just apple and mango. Like that's literally it. Then I decided to get these little brownies. I thought maybe they'd be good with like on the side with lunch. They're for kids, but it just has nine ingredients. It has buckwheat flour, semieet chocolate, honey, cane sugar, coconut oil, water, chia seeds, cocoa powder, and salt. And then I decided to get some Pop-Tarts. Can you tell that like I was just craving something sweet? I'm going to try one of these knockoff Pop-Tarts. Okay, the icing looks healthy compared to regular Pop-Tarts. Ooh, it looks delicious. Well, okay. It's kind of empty. Can you see how hollow that is? That's okay. We're going to try it. I mean, yeah, it tastes nice. There's really not much filling, but it tastes good. It's by Nature's Path Organic. Sure, why not? We're going to save the rest of this for later, and then we will check out TJ Maxx and hopefully find some perfume. Okay, I'm in like the beauty section. I saw one little end cap, but they didn't really have what I wanted. So, we'll see if there's any more. It's mostly just like body products. Oil, banana, vanilla, [music] just smells like sunscreen. There's lots of good skin care. There's tons of Sintella. Is that how you say it? I think a pretty expensive brand. There's some K beauty brands, but I'm not seeing the perfume. There's this end cap right here, but it has absolutely nothing I want on it. But now I have found this taste and I feel like this is [music] more what I'm looking for. I was hoping there'd be more than this. There's like Viva Juicy, which is fine, I guess, but it's still not nostalgic enough. There's like Marc Jacobs ones. On this side, there's Clinique Cappy, which is like a classic, but it's still $50, which feels crazy. Jimmy Chu, a bunch of other random ones. There's a Victor and Ralph, I think it's called Flower Bomb, but Darn. Okay, sorry for the loud music, but I just popped into Till's because it [music] was nearby and I tried on these shorts that I think I had tried on previously, but I tried them on in a more high-rise and these are kind of a more lowrise and [music] I sort of like them. Kind of cute. They're very baggy. They have a sort of like cargo style. These are a navy. I tried on this [music] tank top which is on sale for $7. So, I was like, "Oh, sweet." It's terrible. Well, just the fit of [music] it on me is terrible, I should say. And then I found these Nike sweatshirts which are just kind [music] of casual, chill. They're It says they're high-rise. They're not. They're like mid-rise, but like [music] these are kind of cute. So, we'll see on these. If you couldn't tell, I'm kind of looking for more casual just like running errands stuff. I feel like I'd have cute outfits and then I have like jeans and t-shirts, but I don't have a lot of like athleisure or just casual wear. So, we'll see. Yeah, this dress is cute in theory, but like this, it's too big. [music] You can see my bando underneath. Pretend that's not there. But yeah, this one's a no. All right, I did end up Sorry, I was finishing the other Pop-Tart. I did end up getting both of those pairs of shorts cuz they were really cute and one of them was on sale. And now I am going to I've been meaning to return these shorts. These are a pair of shorts that I got from Target, but it's Levis's. Like Levis's has jeans there. Anyways, I had sized up because the ones that I had gotten a few months ago are a little tight, but the size up is like way too big. So, I've got to return those. And actually, I have been bringing this package in and out of my car for like a week now, trying to return it, and I haven't. So, I'm going to go do that really quick. Then, I think I'm going to grab a smoothie. And then maybe potentially we'll pop into Ross to see if they have any of the perfumes cuz like, you know, Ross, TJ Maxx, they're similar. I think I think they're owned by the same people. Little brows, little cheeky brows as the Brits say. I love some of their terms of phrase, by the way. Cheeky, unmatched. There's nothing in the American English language that matches to that. Also, I love that they say, "We're going to pop into whatever. We're going to pop down to the shops. We're going to pop this in the oven." Like, I just think that's adorable. I love what's all this then. They They absolutely crushed with that. They ate with that. Like, cuz yeah, what is all this then, you know? I love that they say tuck in when they're talking about eating food. Oh, I'm going to tuck into this. I think that's so cute. Anyways, I don't know where that came from. Let's go drop off this package. We're just like on a little a little solo shopping day out. I'm loving it. A little self-care shopping day. Listen, I have gotten comments over the years about how like I shop too much. Yeah, probably. But like I could be doing drugs. You know what I mean? Could be worse. [music] >> [music] >> Thank you. You, too. Okay, I got my smoothie. It's so much bigger than it was last time. I'm like, did I order the wrong size? But it's kind of like a dupe for the Haley Bieber strawberry cloud smoothie from Arowan. Um, but it was like $11 as opposed to I think that other one's like $20. I have had it before, but I got it with apple juice this time instead of cashew milk, I think, is what it comes with. So, let's give it a taste test. It's really good with the apple juice. It's like a little bit sweeter. It tastes almost more similar now than it did before, but it's really good. It has coconut cream in it, strawberries, some kind of protein, something or other, and apple juice, I think. Okay, I popped into Ross really quickly to see if there's anything good. They have Ed Hardy. It's funny. Another Ed Hardy. We have a Juicy Couture Curve. Oh my god. For 20 bucks. That is so funny. I want to smell this. Oh, there is Tommy girl. Wait, I used to use this all the time in middle school. I saw some people say that they [music] saw like old school Victoria's Secret stuff in here and I'm like I was really hoping for that. But I did get a couple Britney Spears. I saw the candied fantasy fantasy intense. I've never had either of those. There's also a Hollister one, another Curve, a Calvin Klein, CK to you. I don't really remember that one. There's also Proactive [clears throat] and Elizabeth Taylor's perfume. I think I'm going to go with Candied Fantasy. Never tried it before, but I guess this is how we find out. And then do I get Tommy Girl as well? Probably. It's for research purposes, you know. Got the goods, the possibly potentially probably expired goods, but we got them nonetheless. I'm going to get some gas and then we're going to head home. It's much later now. I've actually been home for a while. I've been doing some stuff. I got an email when I was out and it was like said I just had to handle some work stuff. Anyways, it's like a few hours later and I have not smelled these yet. I unwrapped them, but I have not smelled them. So, what should I start with? I think I'm going to start with Candied Fantasy. Is this bottle going to be ginormous? Oh my gosh, it's a different color. Wait, it's so cute. The other one was more like this dark color. I'm catching a whiff of something kind of powdery. Oh, it's like crusty and broken and like smeared on the top. I may need to return this. But let's just smell it anyways cuz this is probably old. Like when was this from? Do they still make this perfume? Hold on. It smells really good. Smells so similar to like the regular Fantasy. Hold on. I do wish I had gone with the Fantasy Intense because this one is slightly powdery, but I'm so sensitive to that. Like, it probably isn't that powdery at all, but to me, I don't know. Everything smells like that. It's good. I don't even know if I'm able to return it. I might look into that. We'll see. It's good. I do wish I had found the regular Fantasy or that I had just gone with the Fantasy Intense, but it's still It's so cute. Look at the bottle. I just love Miss Britney. And it reminds me of like really good times. Okay, now we're going to try Tommy Girl. This was I mean this is even probably 1999 2000 was when I used to wear this. Oh my god, I am dying at this bottle. Look at this. This is going to throw me back in time. I don't I don't know if I like the smell of that. It's very perfumey. Also, do they make this one anymore either or are these all just expired? If so, will they just become like collections on my shelf? Like little pieces of decor? It does smell really nostalgic. I just don't know if I love the smell of it. We'll see. We'll see about that. I really want to get another Ralph Lauren Ralph perfume. I want to get the Paris Hilton perfume like I mentioned. I want to get Britney Spears Curious. I used to use the JLo Glow perfume. That'd be pretty cool. So, maybe I'll start like a little vintage perfume collection. But I think I'm still also going to be on the hunt for a Britney Spears fantasy. Like just the original fantasy. But yeah, that is so funny. I don't I don't know. I think I'm going to warm up to those. I'm just really sensitive to smells. Neither of them smell bad, by the way. I'm just like so so hyper specific in particular. I also feel like I just got a bunch of perfume on the ground. Let me swiffer. And now you know what time it is? It's Kindle time. actually finally sat up and read a little bit this morning cuz I woke up really early. And sometimes if I read when I'm up super early in the morning, I'm able to like fall back asleep. So, I finally got to 24% in my book. I was stuck at like 10% for so long. So, we're actually making some progress and things are actually happening and I am looking forward to reading more of it. I'm reading My Husband's Wife by Alice Feny. Hopefully by the time you guys see me next, I will be done with this cuz I have been trying to move through my books a lot quicker cuz I just take too long. I listened to a little bit more of my audio book today. I'm enjoying it. I don't know who half the people are she's talking about. But I'm still appreciating it, taking it in, and now I'm going to continue reading this one. And hopefully it keeps getting juicier because it definitely is so far. Well, who guessed that I fell asleep? You would be correct. I did in fact fall asleep and it was lovely, but not for that long. Really, like for 10 minutes and then Drew and I have just been talking.
