We have no idea what's going on, but we know enough about this film to know that this is a fairy tale for adults and [snorts] we've seen the teasers. We've seen the songs. Uh, doesn't mean that's what the film is, but it it very well could be is just style over substance. >> Yeah. >> Um, that doesn't mean they can't pull it together in the movie and it works so well. Absolutely. I mean, it's a very stylized in terms of cinematography, color, like all that. Like, so like it's hyper beautiful at times and and and all that kind of stuff, which is totally fine. Obviously, if that's the vibe you're going for in your movie, totally fine. [snorts] But then you also have to you still have to have a reason people are going to be watching the whole time. Um, you can't, that's why the saying's there, style over substance, is you're is your primarily focused just that it looks really cool and they have some sound bites >> and that your actors are emoting a lot of emotion by screaming and yelling and crying. >> Okay, great. >> Yeah. Um, once again, doesn't mean that's what the film is going to be, but that's what the vibes it was kind of giving, unfortunately. And I also didn't have the fun >> of I mean there was some cool like violence and kills and stuff like that but like the fun of some of the songs and the the sexiness >> the sexiness even the romance of it. And I I I >> the other stuff conveyed the idea of a fairy tale for grown-ups. >> Mhm. >> This doesn't convey a fairy tale. This just conveys a vengeance film. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Uh they definitely it's it went with a different vibe than uh all the other stuff that we >> It sure did. And like most trailers over three minutes long, it's way too long. It's just they it's you don't need it to be that long. >> Um other than you want to show us more cool stuff, which is what it seemed that was served the purpose is we're going to show you a lot of stuff that we think is cool. >> Um cool factor only goes so far. >> Yeah. Um >> especially if it's >> except there I will say sad to say it but there is an audience for for just going and watching people be cool. >> Yeah, >> there is an audience for that. I'm not it. >> Yeah, >> but there is an audience for that. >> Yeah, there's definitely an audience for it. >> Um >> but you know we just from the the other stuff that we had seen I was just cuz this looks more like stereotypical. I mean there's some different style. Like I said, the stylization is a little different and um obviously there's some cool looking shots, there's some cool people. Um but like I said, it's it I didn't feel a lot of either >> like cool um like they're looking to do something cool, right? >> As opposed to just trying to look cool, >> right? >> Um trying to do something different. It was more just >> and is anybody going to have like will anyone at any point have an actual conversation that feels like a believable conversation >> obviously >> like cuz it's all just hyper just I'm going to say this as cool as I can and I'm going to say that as cool as I can and I'm going to say that as angrily as I can versus >> will there be it just did not sell me on the thought that this is going to be anything other than style. >> Yeah. Um, and like I said, maybe it maybe it is. Um, cuz this director is not known for this style of a movie. [laughter] If you've seen our watch along of her, a Mallea movie, it's a brilliant piece of cinema is what that is. Um, not that I this needed to be that. Um, but it definitely gives a different vibe. >> Yeah. Um it gives like almost a lot of times like typical what we're getting from big masala movies from all industries. Um a lot of times from Batons to KGFs to um the some of the Tugu um big big movies. >> Yeah. >> That just like um it didn't what came to mind was the last Lucifer that we saw with Muan. Oh, in the >> Yeah. >> Um and it just was style. >> Yeah. >> And style is cool. John Wick's got a lot of style. >> I mean, it's definitely looks like it has cooler style than that, but you need still need a little more than that. >> Yeah. It's it's it's not that's that was one of the issues we had, for example, with and a lot of people didn't. Again, there's an audience for it. But with KGF2, >> um I I don't want to sit through a three-hour commercial or music video. >> Yeah. >> Cinema is storytelling. Be unique, be unusual. It can be graphic. It can be violent, but make it believable and make it something that's compelling. Make it entertaining. This >> I feel like I if this is what you're advertising is, what's on the menu, >> it feels like it's going to be a lot of just isn't that cool? Isn't that stylish? And then even story-wise, all I'm getting is his kid's going to grow up to seek revenge. Okay. We've seen that how many times? >> Yeah, quite a few. If you're going to give me a revenge story, hopefully you're going to give me a revenge story that has something original or unique to it, which again, >> it might. >> It might. Don't fully judge the film by a trailer, but you can get an idea. This did not make me want to see the movie. >> Yeah, it's um >> especially with how excited I was for basically everything else >> that we've seen. Um >> Yeah, this gives me pause. I'm going to be waiting to hear what people have to say about it rather than showing up first show, first day. Yeah, like I said, there was some like a lot of these like the kid's a Joker. Uh obviously maybe it's he's he's in a circus. Maybe this is him as a kid. Obviously. Um there's there's a lot of different reasons for that. >> That that I believe is his son. That's where his son ended up cuz he said they made me dress up like a Joker. >> Yeah. >> And he's angry about it. >> There were some cool kills. Like I said, there were some cool looking shots. Um that guy looks like he's trying to be modernday um um Russell Crow. >> [laughter] >> at 129 because Russ grows that big old beard nowadays. >> U obviously lit a cigarette. Cool. Like I said, there's a lot of there's some cool stuff in there. >> A lot of yelling. >> A lot of yelling for sure. A lot of uh um dialogue that obviously is >> a lot of things that are obviously see. It's one thing for there to be a moment that when it happens, you're like, "That's cool." And it just happened organically versus you watch something and you see moments that were created because we're going to make this cool. >> Yeah. >> Like we Phoenix dancing down the stairs in Joker or having his moment in the bathroom. That works because it's just organic and it's doing something in the moment and they're not trying to be cool. They're trying to get down into the heart of this character and express what's going on with him versus often times, and this is what I saw here, was we did that because the director thought it would look cool, cinematographer thought it would look cool, the actor thought it would look cool, and that I check out. >> Yeah. >> Um >> but there's an audience for it. >> Um like >> people go to McDonald's. >> We'll wait to see um what people are saying here. >> Yeah. And also, why is your trailer four and a half minutes? >> Yeah, I don't get that. >> Four and a half. That's a third of the movie. >> You've almost made a short film. [laughter] >> Why? >> Yeah. [clears throat] >> Um, [snorts] and you still don't quite know what the movie's about, [laughter] >> right? >> Four and a half. >> No, it wasn't like And it wasn't like there was a break where you had a front half of the trailer in the second half. It was just what it was from start to end pretty much. >> The second half was more about whatever uh whoever this guy is. And I'm sorry for not knowing who he is. The actor I'm saying the guy that's with the covered in blood and all that kind of stuff. Um >> um but he also looked like he was doing kind of a I'm crazy stickick. >> Exactly. >> You know, we've we've said that before. We've seen in movies where certain people are acting psychotic or or they're >> acting like they're trying to be the I'm going to be do a joker. >> Yeah. And when you can see that somebody's trying to be something as opposed to just organically being something. >> It it doesn't help that I just came from my acting family this morning where I've watched people acting for 4 hours and the last actor that went up did a scene that was so good. Mhm. >> He uh he's an older actor who is portraying this guy at a group meeting and he's talking about a horrible thing that happened to a girl he really liked and the he didn't know at the time, but the husband of the woman found out. He didn't know she was married. And so he went to go to the house to talk to her. And the husband answers the door covered in blood >> and he sees a hammer on the stairs with hair on it. And what happens is the husband has killed his wife cuz he thinks she's cheating. and he's guilty because he feels like if I hadn't even just said hi to her, she wouldn't be dead and he's been haunted by it for his whole life. This guy's monologue was so damn good. It blurred the I one point I said to another actor afterwards, I went I didn't I for a split second I thought he was just given a stream of consciousness about an actual event that happened and just being like uh artistic in that regard versus memorized script. And when I told him that afterwards he took the script out of his jacket and he went, "No, it's it's really my lines." So to see something that organic and that believable, which is what most acting ought to be, >> it just didn't doesn't help. >> Didn't help. [laughter] >> Interesting.
