Tottenham Hotspur 0 0 Everton | We Have To Move On | 3 Talking Points

Welcome to Toffee TV. It is my three talking points. Tottenham Hotspur nil, Editton nil tonight at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. And on the face of it, it's a decent point. It is. There was all the noise around it, the all the stories around it, even some of the most biased assessment and commentary that you'll hear trying to will a goal for Tottenham tonight, but it didn't happen. Everton kept the clean sheet with a you know a good a good defensive performance because we ensured that Jordan Pigford wasn't overly busy. Tottenham you know balls into the box. We had to get blocks in and heads in but they only really tested Jordan properly in the second half and it was a good save and it was his own doing with a really poor kick with his right foot that put us under pressure. But you know coming into that game would I have took a point? I wanted the three and I think looking back we had enough good chances to get the three but I probably would have taken a point if we beat Ipsswitch you know I mean it's all on now of course that's going to be a tough game as well but you know we've got to be confident of beating Ipsswitch at Hill Dickinson next Saturday and then like I said on the match reaction I think you're going to an international break in a in a good place really nine points out of 15 you know Spurs away done United Bournemouth away out the as well. So, you know, it hasn't been sort of like the easiest start. Um, but it has obviously hasn't been the most difficult either, but we've ended up tonight, you know, like I said, clean she seat, seventh place in the Premier League Spurs in 17th. Um, and people will look at that, but listen, they're going to score sometime, aren't they? And, and I'm just glad it wasn't against us today. And like I said, we had the opportunities to score the goals. And that's really going to be my first sort of talking point. Um it we're going to have to no actually not change me to first me first talking point is drawing a line under the transfer window and I've got to do it as well. I'm well aware that I've been moaning about it since it happened. Um really you know really frustrated with the way it ended. It was poor. I think, you know, the blame for me mainly lays with the owners, but the people who are here in Liverpool doing it, the CEO, the recruitment team, they've got to take blame as well for what happened or not being able to convince the owners, whatever, whichever way you look at it. But it's done. We, you know, we were disappointed we didn't get Balagan in. Personally think we needed another right winger and I think we needed the left back. I've been quite consistent with that. I think they were they were sorted the three positions. I felt we were were shorting. I always felt Jack Greas coming in would be fantastic for us. I think it really helped but he was never a replacement for Ilman and Jai for me. Um if it was selling and Jai then I wanted the Sanjao from Ko and I believe we could have got him but if not and it went as late as it did I don't understand why we didn't go and get Bya who eventually went off to leads. You know he's he's lightning and Evan haven't got any pace really. So he would have been a good one and a left back cover I think we needed but listen it is done. So I think the players have come out. It's been really interesting actually listening Ken and Jbury Hall done an interview. I was really quite frustrated it sounded with Edonians online um moaning and and going on about it and uh you know you I know there's there's some certain social media platforms where some people seem to absolutely love um staring and love the negativity side of it. We're all frustrated. We all want the same thing. We all want Everton to win football matches and and we're disappointed because we wanted our team to kick on, our club to kick on, but it is what it is now. We're going to have to draw a line under it. These lads are all we've got till January unless Edton bringing it free. And I'm, you know, I don't know whether they will or not, but these are the lads we've got wearing the shirt and and we'll back them. Of course we will. And it was tremendous turnout down at Tottenham on a Saturday night today to do the same today. And it is about putting your faith in them and and having the belief that they can get us key results, you know, and and James Tarovski's just done an interview after the game and talked about the noise outside and the disappointment and the frustration um hearing, you know, what's gone on outside and and and all the the disharmony about it. And I do feel, you know, doing this speaks to thousands of Edonians every day. I do I am a little bit surprised just how almost it's not toxic. That's a nonsense thing, but it's how negative some people are. Like really negative. And how it's got to such a bad place quickly. We need the owners to sell up or to bring someone in who's going to do their very best to push this football club where we all believe it should be. These aren't going to do it. They've had no interest in doing that. They've put Evan they've done some good stuff for Evans. No doubt about that. But they're not the owners we need or or they need someone to come in and help them be the owners we need. Personally think they're looking for a full sale. But right now they're saying they want a partial sale. So we hopefully will get well we we've got no say in that but hopefully that gets resolved as quickly as physically possible and we get someone who wants to be a presence in the football club. Not someone who talks all the time, not someone who tries to buy players for the club over what's being agreed, but somebody who's a turns up and shows you that they're bothered at least to be a start. And secondly, empowers the people. If the people here aren't good enough, then replace them. But empower whoever it is. Give them the actual power to go and do it. Don't set budgets and cut it. Don't tell people he can do things and he can't. However, this club goes forward. And the only way it can go forward is to empower the people who you're trusting to deliver the football club and then say go and do it. We'll assess you at the end of this period or that period. That's the only way we move forward. So that's what I'm hoping. Um but Sarovski and Jol I think their their comments are really telling I think and I think maybe we're just going to have to draw a line under it and just back them. We we do it. We always do it. The team have made a solid start. half points from the games. Um if like I said, beat it switch and I think we're in a decent place. So yeah, you know, food for thought for me as well. And obviously um let's just draw the line under it and let's move forward as best we can and put the pressure on the CEO and the and the recruitment team and the pressure on the owners that when that window opens on January the 1st, we've got a player already wrapped up. If the theoretically to me that shouldn't be an issue with the money should be there that deal should be done in December. I've seen plenty of other clubs do deals in December and the person the player comes in. We've done it with Micheleno. You know Micheno's just been given man of the match tonight on on the TV. Um we had them announced on something like 18th 19th of December that he was coming in on the 1st of January he was in. Let's go and try and do a deal like that. particularly if we're buying from Europe. Um but but until we can do that, we all we've got is these lads and we have to back them and maybe you know just try and get a bit of positivity back. We've had a solid start. We're in a decent position and we have got a good team. They could be better, could be stronger, but we have got a good team. So yeah, there we go. Let's draw the line under it. on top of that is we're going to have to be more clinical. You know, we've seen big opportunities go to waste tonight. I think if Everton to do what a lot of them are saying they want to do, which is be in the race for Europe, then we're going to have to nick these kind of games. It's you look at it and go nil nil at Spurs. Not a bad result really, but you look at the opportunities and go, is it two points drop? And I'm sure some people on the comments will be saying to me the frustrator cuz it's two points drop. We miss big opportunities. Dbury all and Brennan Johnson's two were were big opportunities big moments in it. Kan's other shot at the flex. Okay, the flex team to know Barry's unlucky with a header. It's the goalie or the goalie gets lucky shall we say but the chances presented to Dubsbury all by the goalie and the one Kieran created for Brennan Johnson. he has to score that. Um, so we're going to have to work work out ways that we can become more clinical. Maybe it's extra finishing. I don't know. But, you know, we're going to look at opportunities. We've seen it down at Bournemouth in our last away game. Albeit the keepers made two really good saves. He probably should have scored certainly one of them. Tonight, we've done the same. So, the two away games we haven't won when we could have done. And you know I know the Bournemouth game second half they they could have put the game to bed and in the end we've got a good point out of it because James Sarosski's equalized but the key moments in the game and we've not been able to score and for us to do what we want to do we're going to have to be more clinical. It's as simple as that. And I don't know how you do it other than work. You're working you keep working. Barry, you keep working. Ty George, we need more from him. You keep working. We need more from, you know, uh, Jack Eish, Brennan Johnson, Tyler Dibling, they're all gonna have to play the part. Ken and Jbury Hall, all gonna have to play the part in getting us more goals and, um, because that's who we've got in the building. Braden Graeme, maybe I'd love to see him get some some minutes against Wolves on Wednesday night. So hopefully he will, but he might have to get the odd five or 10 minutes in there and might have to contribute. But we have got to find a way to be more clinical. That way we will win games like this when we presented with big big opportunities and um and yeah that's that's where we are. And then the third one is is all about you know the defense and how solid it can be. I think mate L's done all right. He got caught out a couple of times early on by Andy Andy Robertson's runs in behind him but I thought overall he did a good job um that you got what 70 of them. I mean Jake O'Brien coming on a right back. How do we feel about that? Thought that was over. But um but Jake done all right when he come on. [clears throat] We know he can do that job. I think Micheleno had a solid gate. I think early on his passing was was atrocious really some of his passes. But I thought he stuck to his task really well and you know was up against Sabino and was up against Cudis and sort of saw both of them off without as he grew into the game. And I think that the I think with Pigford and then you've got Sarovsky and Brandweight in front of them. That's quite a solid defense. And I think that defense will be the basis in which we do keep games tight and win them. But they're going to have to be on it next week. You know, if Trit is scoring goals and they've got, you know, Emerson's quite big and they've got obviously Zay Fleming or Zion Fleming who's come on and got scored today. So, it'll be a test of both Sarovski and Brandweight, but we want more clean sheets like today. You know, we've had two and four. We were a bit tighter than we were last week against United and we're going to need that. That's what we're going to need. We don't score tons of goals. So again, it's going to have to be built on the defense. But the other thing as well with that and again praised Moyes in the past for I've praised Moyes this season for putting a resilience in the team which he's done undoubtedly and that was there again today, but we're also I think we're going to have to find the best um the best midfield partnership to sort of help that defense out. I think sometimes we're still a little bit open. I think James G had a really good game today. Grew into defensively. Done a lot. I think it was something like 17 defensive actions or something like that. Put a couple of big tackles in as well. But there is still gaps there and I guess that's where against the better teams we when he's fit. That's where the hope and Christian Norard will sit and and help the defense out there as well. But it's going to be key how he gets that right. Um and then obviously the defense keeping those clean sheets. We're going to need Jordan. We're going to need Jordan with better with better kicking than he had today. But that's where we are. We've got we've dug out a point and um although I think all of us will be a little bit frustrated that it isn't it isn't the three. But let me know what you think in the comments section below.
