Too Commanded To Be Casual | Pr. Mosimanegape Super Moesi
Watch on YouTubeVideo summary
The speaker, Pr. Mosimanegape Super Moesi, opens his message by declaring that the church is not only too blessed to be stressed but also too commanded to be casual or confused. He grounds this theme in Matthew 28:18-20, where Jesus asserts His universal authority and issues a permanent command to make disciples of all nations, teaching them to obey everything He has commanded until the end of the age. This divine mandate is reinforced by the parallel text in Matthew 24:14, which states that the gospel must be preached to the whole world as a witness before the end comes. Consequently, the speaker emphasizes that obedience leads to blessing and the presence of the Lord, whereas disobedience leads to perishing. He defines being "casual" as being irregular and unconcerned, arguing that believers cannot afford such an attitude in their spiritual walk; instead, they must consistently reflect the character of Jesus in their daily lives through unwavering obedience to God's commands.
To help the congregation live out this command, the speaker introduces a framework based on the acronym "R" for the publishing ministries department, starting with "Read," which stands for "Real elevation above despondency." He explains that reading the Word of God and literature focused on character building elevates the mind, allowing believers to see their enemies clearly and plan how to defeat them. This mental elevation combats hopelessness and low self-esteem, transforming individuals who might feel worthless into those who understand their true value in God's eyes. The speaker illustrates this with a personal testimony of overcoming feelings of inadequacy by reading Ellen White's *The Desire of Ages*, noting that feeding the mind is crucial because an empty interior often leads people to seek validation through external appearances rather than internal richness.
The second and third points of the acronym focus on "Reach out" and becoming a "Student literature evangelist." The speaker urges the church to stockpile missionary books, such as *Steps to Christ*, so that every member can share the joy of salvation with others, comparing the need for spiritual resources to a nation stocking guns before war. He shares a powerful anecdote about sharing a book with a man named David in Rongai, Kenya, which eventually led to a Muslim friend reading it and seeking more copies, demonstrating how literature can bridge cultural divides and open doors for evangelism. Furthermore, he encourages young people and students to take on the role of literature evangelists during their school breaks, sharing that even those from humble backgrounds who work hard can experience God's direct blessings and provide for themselves through this ministry, citing examples of doctors and professionals who have transitioned into full-time literature evangelism.
The message concludes with the final "R," which stands for "Rejoice," reminding believers that a life of reading, reaching out, and obedience naturally leads to joy, as commanded by the Apostle Paul in Philippians 4:4. The speaker closes with a touching testimony about a woman in Botswana who found a torn page of Exodus stuck on a thorny tree while fetching water; the command to keep the Sabbath holy written on that paper led her to an Adventist pastor and ultimately converted her entire family, including their grandchildren. He challenges the audience to carry books everywhere so that they can witness even while sleeping or shopping, ensuring that their lives become channels of blessing for others. Ultimately, he reiterates that the church is commanded to be regular and engaged, not casual, inviting everyone to share the blessings they have received with the world.

Good morning, blessed of my father.
I hope this thing is working.
All right. Thank you so much. It's such
a joy and a blessing to be back to
Nairobi Central.
You look blessed and highly favored.
Do you believe it?
We are too blessed to be what?
And I would like to say this morning we
are not only too blessed to be stressed,
we are also
too commanded
to be confused or to be casual.
So that's if I were to give you a title
for this short talk, that's what I would
do. That we are too commanded to be
casual. And we find this command
actually in Matthew chapter 28 from
verse 18. I believe they will project it
up there. That's what they I'm used to.
Um that they can project that text. Uh
Matthew 28 and verse 18. I'll start
reading from my Bible here. It says,
"And Jesus came and spoke to them
saying, All authority has been given to
me in heaven and where else?"
And on earth. So in other words, as we
read this text, we are being commanded
by the one who has all authority over
everything. And then what is the
command?
Verse 19, "Go therefore and make
disciples of all nations, baptizing them
in the name of the Father, the name of
the Son, and of the Holy Spirit." Verse
20, "Teaching them to observe all things
that I have commanded you, and lo, I am
with you always, even up to the what?"
To the end of the age. And if I were to
think of a twin text to this one, I will
go to Matthew 24 and verse 14.
"And this gospel of the kingdom shall be
preached to what?"
To all the world as a what?
As a witness, then the end will come.
So, when the gospel has saturated the
world, that's when we won't be singing
of maybe going to heaven someday. We
know then when people know the gospel
and have made an intelligent decision
either for or against Christ, then we
know Christ is coming. Praise God. And
that's why now I say this is a command.
Right now our theme is obey
and live or what?
Disobey
and perish. So, my my interest for
coming here is not to talk about
perishing.
I'm here to talk about obedience. And
when we obey, we are always blessed and
we enjoy the presence of the Lord. So,
in this being too commanded to be what?
To be casual. What do we mean by casual?
You know, a casual person is irregular
and unconcerned.
So, you cannot be in church and be
casual, being irregular and unconcerned.
So, when you talk about carrying out the
command, we must know that this is a
permanent command that God has given us
as long as we are on this earth. So, I
cannot say today I will go carry out the
command and tomorrow I will relax. So,
when I am not speaking, the command
should be speaking through my life as
the character of Jesus is reflected in
my life.
Three hours that I want to leave with
you.
Number one, in the publishing ministries
department, and allow me to to say this
elder.
Allow me to say this that I appreciate
what you are doing as a church.
Giving each and every department an
equal what? Chance and opportunity to do
what they are supposed to do to harness
people into the kingdom of God. And even
to give an opportunity to the publishing
ministries department, including the
literature evangelist because the
publishing ministries department was
there even before the church was
organized.
Now what is the first R that I want to
talk about? In the publishing ministries
department, we promote reading. So the
first R is what? Read.
Now if you were to take read as an
acronym, this is what I will say. It's
actually real elevation above
despondency.
Does that make sense?
So R stands for real and then
A is the E stands for what? Elevation.
So when you are at an elevated place,
you can actually see your enemy and you
are able to plan how you defeat the
enemy. Are we there together?
So one of the ways that we can defeat
the enemy is when we are elevated by
reading the word of God.
And reading the books that speak about
the word of God. And then it's above all
despondency. What does the word
despondency mean? It actually means a
state
of
of sadness and complete loss of hope.
Now when you look around the world
today, there are a lot of people who are
hopeless. And even this hopelessness
also has come even into the church. Now
how do we deal with it as God's people?
We must make time make sure that we take
time to study the word and take the
books that have been promoted here on
character building of our children, on
how we can build our marriages, how we
can build our spirituality, and how we
can build our health.
You know some of us we we we grow up
like including myself, we grow up with a
low self-esteem.
You know I was born here in Botswana,
who am I? There's nothing that I can do.
But when you read books like book like
The Desire of Ages, this is what it says
in page 668.
It says in page 668, Desire of Ages,
this is what it says.
God is disappointed when his children
put a low estimate upon themselves.
And that's Ellen White. When you hear
that God is disappointed about that,
what do you do then? You come to him and
say, "God, give me my real value, and
then I can go and share the gospel with
others."
So, what is the first R?
Read. Are you reading?
And you know, when we read, we build the
inner part of ourselves, and we are rich
inside. And when you are rich inside,
you can handle any situation in life.
Now, here's the challenge. The reason
why in most cases in our church, even
today, we see things that we never saw,
where people are concentrated of the
what happens on the outside more than
inside, is because it's empty inside,
and therefore we have to find things
that we can hang around to appear
better, that we can wear to appear
better, because we don't understand our
value, and we have not what? Fed the
mind in order to feed the body.
So, reading is quite crucial. And that's
why we have the publishing department to
give you all these things, so that you
spend money on that which is bread, that
feeds the mind, that then controls
everything.
Number two, reach out.
So, when you have fed the mind, you have
something to share. You cannot share a
banana that you don't have.
So, the mind must be what? Built.
You know, most of us, as I look at you,
you have a When you build a house, you
think of a kitchen, right?
You have a kitchen. Ellen, I can see you
ate this morning.
So, which means you have a kitchen. You
have a bedroom where you sleep, right?
And we have a
um
a wardrobe where you hang your clothes,
isn't it? These are all the things that
we do outside. But, allow me to say
also, it's important that we also have
we spend more I'm not sure how much
money you spend from the neck down, and
how much you spend from the neck up.
And which is more important?
Is it from here to here or from here
down there?
Which Which one controls the other?
It's from here up, and how much have you
spent from here to here?
And how much are you spending from here
to there? Sometimes we even spend on the
nails only, and you don't even have a
single book for a child or to give to
someone.
And this is what controls everything.
One thing that God has given us,
brothers and sisters, that we are all
equally blessed, and you have a
responsibility to develop is the mind.
We may not be similarly blessed, but we
are equally blessed with the mind. But,
what do you do with it? Read.
Real
elevation above despondency.
We can handle life when we do that.
We'll not be gloomy Christians. We'll
not be sad Christians. We'll not be
hating others because reading will set
us free. And when the sun sets you free,
you are free indeed.
Second R, reach out.
In the publishing department, we have a
three objective if if not four. Maybe
I'll cover just three in the interest of
time. The The first one is is is
concerning the local church, as to how
we can reach out to others. We need to
reach out to publishing department in
order to reach out to others. Are we
there together? So, the first one is
uh
promotion of the missionary or sharing
of the missionary book of the year.
In our church every year, we have what
we call Impact Day. And I think it's the
second
Sabbath or the second Sabbath of every
month of April, if I'm not mistaken. I
think you see it in the calendar. Impact
Day. What does that mean? This means
that now that we have read ourselves and
we are rejoicing in Jesus Christ, we
want to reach out and share the joy with
others. What we have done in the
department is that every year we want
this book to be less than $1. So, in
other words, we encourage you as a
church that April is coming next year.
So, when do we prepare the ground?
In April or now?
So, right now we need to put our orders
in place for the book that we are going
to share next year.
Let me share with you what I do. When I
stayed here in Kenya for the past 5
years, I always carried Steps to Christ
with me.
All the time to reach out. Why? Because
the book has touched my life also. So, I
want to touch somebody else's life.
And I remember I was putting fuel in the
great city of Rongai
where I used to stay.
And I went to this filling station, I
put fuel, and I saw this guy had a name.
His name was David. And I said to him,
"Oh, king of Israel." He said, "My name
is David." I said, "Yes, you are the
king of Israel."
He said, "Well, I'm Muslim." I said, "It
doesn't matter, but David is the king of
Israel." And I said, "I have a book that
I want to share with you." He says, "Let
me look at it." So, I showed him the
book. It was Steps to Christ. He says,
"Okay, I think I'll read it because you
called me a king."
And then he went, took the book, went
home. I don't know whether he read. Six
months passed. When I went back again
after 6 months,
I got to this place and I was putting
fuel and I saw the name again. And I
said, "Oh, King David." He says, "Oh,
it's you again. I've been looking for
you."
I said, "Why?" He says, "You know, about
3 months ago, my Muslim friend came to
my house. He found the book that you
gave me, and he read the book throughout
the night. In the morning, he had
finished the book, and he told me that
he cannot leave the book. He's taking it
away." And I told him, "The person who
gave me the book, I don't even have his
contacts. I never
I made a mistake. I had not put my my my
phone number. Normally, that's what I
do.
I had not put my But, thank God. As God
would have it, you know, I got there,
and he tells me, "Don't you have any
other book for me?" Because he told me
that at least you live in Rongai.
Peradventure, he may come again.
And thank God, the Holy Spirit sent me.
Let me say this to us.
Then when I I And fortunately, I
checked, and I had two books. And he
said, "You have two. This one is mine.
My daughter is seated there. Can you
give her a book also?"
Allow me to say to us, dear Adventists,
when we rejoice in the Lord, we will
always have opportunities.
It's better to have an opportunity and
be prepared for it, and or than to have
an opportunity and you you are not
prepared for it. So, prepare yourself
all the time, and carry the books with
you. Another thing that I would like to
share with you, elder. You know, right
now in Kenya, do you Are you at war
as a country?
Do you Have you stocked
Have you stocked guns and artillery
in Kenya?
Do your Does your army have guns that,
in case of war, they can respond? But,
how come as a church we don't stockpile
Bibles?
So that when we baptize people, we give
them what?
The AK?
Not AK-48, but AK-66, if you please.
So that they can fight the wars, right?
So, we want you, as a Nairobi Central
Church, to get missionary books of the
year and stockpile and the Bible and
stockpile so that wherever you are, your
your your your car, your office turn
into a place of witnessing.
And then we will saturate the world and
fulfill the what? The command.
That many may come into the kingdom of
God. That is number one. Number two,
we also are in need of full-time
literature evangelists.
Those who are saying, "I will wake up in
the morning and go and take books out to
people."
As you see me standing here, I'm an
electrician by profession.
But in in 1995,
God called me and said, "I want you to
leave what you are doing connecting this
power that experiences outage. I want
you to connect to the power of the Holy
Spirit and connect others." And I quit
my job and became a literature
evangelist.
And
from that time, some people think that
when you become a literature evangelist,
you become poor.
If that is poverty, I like it because
I'm standing here because of that
poverty.
My first car, I bought it from
literature ministry.
And if you are here, you are a young
person, I was only 17 and you think you
don't know what you can do with your
life, throw your hands into I mean your
your life into literature ministry.
I know a lot of people. Some have been
managers, some have been teachers, even
doctors around the world. Since I have
the privilege of going around the world,
in Brazil we have a lot of doctors who
have closed and now they are taking
health books to people to help them so
that they can know who Jesus Christ is.
And finally,
the last R. Oh, I still have 4 minutes.
Student literature evangelists. Young
people, you must
when you close schools, go out as
students literature evangelist, whether
it's 2 months or 3 months that you are
going out. I mean, that you are closed.
Please, take time and go and share the
gospel through literature.
I remember when I started as a student,
um I think I started when I was in my
form two. From that time until now, my
parents never bought clothes for me.
I buy clothes for myself.
And it's important that all young people
may remember that the God who blesses
you,
I think that is warning me that I'm left
with 3 minutes. Thank you. The Lord who
blesses you when you work for someone,
you can actually get those blessings
directly from God.
I'll rather have a brand new car than
import a car from Japan.
And you can do that when you connect
directly with God. And what is the final
R?
The final R is rejoicing. When you read,
you reach out, and you do what God wants
you to do, you're obedient, you will
rejoice all the way. Remember what the
Apostle Paul says in Philippians chapter
4 verse 4. What does he say? Rejoice in
the Lord sometimes?
Always. So, you have to be commanded to
be what?
And so, you have to be too commanded to
be casual, so that you are regular and
God does great things through your life.
Let me close with this testimony also.
Um back where I'm coming from in
Botswana,
there was a pastor who was a very
powerful preacher. I admired that young
man, and I loved him so much. And this
is how the mother was converted, just to
show you the power of literature.
To share with you the power of
literature. This young man, the mother
was traveling, I mean, walking in the
village. I think she had come from
fetching water.
It's unfortunate for these children who
don't know that you can go and fetch
water. It's all in the house.
And she had come from fetching water,
and as she was coming from fetching
water,
she looked on the ground and there was a
paper that was caught on a thorny tree.
And she felt impressed to go and pick
that paper. So, as she went through the
pain of, you know, taking that paper off
and reading the paper, guess what the
paper was coming from? That was a torn
paper of Exodus chapter 20 from the
Bible.
And one thing that caught her attention
was that keep the Sabbath day holy.
And then she didn't know any church that
was keeping the Sabbath until somebody
told her that, "Actually, this paper is
it's a torn page from the Bible.
Therefore, there is a man who has a
Bible." And she went to that man and
that man happened to be an Adventist.
And she took her to church. As I'm
talking to you, the entire family, even
grandchildren, are singing in big
choirs. And that young man was a pastor,
of course, he passed away. Was a pastor
and the entire family and generation and
lineage are in the Adventist church
because of one torn paper.
What if you were to we were to share a
book every day? While you are sleeping,
the book is speaking. While you are
pushing a trolley at Shoprite, is it
Shoprite or it's um
what is Carrefour? Shoprite used to be.
The the book will be preaching. While
you are seated in church, a book will be
preaching. And you'll be shocked when
you get to heaven that somebody says, "I
rejoice with you today because if it
were not for you, I wouldn't be here."
Brothers and sisters, we are too
commanded to be casual. We are too
blessed to be stressed that we can stay
with the blessings. Let's go and share
the blessings. Remember, he said to
Abraham, "I'll bless you so that you may
be a blessing." Let us pray.
Father in heaven,
thank you for the publishing ministry
and for your people that are blessed who
are here this morning.
May we make use of this opportunity to
rejoice with you on this earth and even
in heaven. Blessed be your name in
Jesus' name. Amen.
