Toffees To Listen To Offers For Jake O'Brien... | Everton News Daily

Some news today coming out that Everton are ready to listen to offers for center back Jake O'Brien, which is a little bit of a strange one to me. I won't lie. Um I think Jake played center back seven times last season. Everton won five of the games and drew the other two. He has predominantly been used as a right back by David Moyes, but the lad doesn't want to play right back. And now it's come out today that Everton are reportedly ready to listen to offers for him. So, bit of a strange one, but there you go. That's what's out. And obviously, we'll have to wait and see what happens with that one. Evan won the opening Premier League match of the season on Saturday, beating Crystal Palace 2-0 at Hill Dickinson Stadium. A good result, delighted with the result, but David Moyes was asked after the game how he thought the result, you know, or the game went rather. This is what he had to say. I thought I thought there was there was a good performance uh for lots of the parts of the game. I thought we uh we didn't do well enough on the transition in the first half where we should have get lots of more chances from what we done. And when they transitioned because of the the two different systems in the game and the way it played when they transitioned, I thought their chances were better than ours. Obviously, the goalkeeper makes a great save. It looks like the center forward should have probably scored with the one that hits the post, I think. Uh but I thought we had opportunities to have big chances and I didn't think we'd done it as well in the early part of the first half but uh the goal from Kieran just before Halime I thought the game sort of toed and froed a little bit was it was an incredibly open game I thought and certainly >> yeah I think David Moyes was right obviously Crystal Palace had chances before we got in front but once we sort of got in front in the game you know we ended up controlling the game but definitely on the transition we kept getting caught poor balls, short ball and they allowed them to break early on but that didn't really happen second half and you know think in the end we could have scored more goals ourself but brilliant start to the season that's all it really matters is getting the win there's been obviously lots and lots of chat about a right back Everton still with only eight days to go not brought in a right back roll has done that role um a few times he was the one who got the nod there on Saturday David Moyes was asked about his performance at right back and whether he could do the job for the rest of the season. This is what he had to say. >> He's he's keen to he's keen to do well and shows that he could be a right back Merlin. Uh and because of that, you know, we we're happy, you know, he can play other roles for us, pardon the pun. Uh but he can play other other roles which mean that we can play him further forward. We can play him in a different way. He's got a he's got a different sort of level of athleticism to some of the other boys in some ways and he's a good footballer generally and he can score if we get get him closer to the goal. So, but he's also doing okay. And I was saying again, I'm just referencing my press conference. I was saying that, you know, we're everybody's talking about a right back. So, I'm saying, well, I hope it's better than Jacob Ryan. I hope it's better than than Melon Ro or what they're offering. And obviously we always trying to get better than what we've got in every position to be truthful. You're always as a manager you're trying to think and it's no it's not that easy to just go and get yourself better than than how those two Melon in preseasons played really well and certainly deserves the chance to play. >> He wasn't really just saying that we were just going to keep Merlin roll not by right back. I'm not having it. He wasn't saying that but he did listen ro done all right. They don't know. He grew into the game. That's a probably a kind of way at the opening 1520 when he was a little bit um wanting because he was chasing the ball trying to go win the ball back but done they've done a decent job in the end but Everton do and are after a right back. So eight eight days to go according to French press today Strasborg want 40 million euros to allow what is Evan's number one target gua due to leave the football club. Evan have been trying to get a deal done for the player all summer really. He was obviously away at the World Cup with just complicated things. This came out over the weekend as well this story but Everton linked with Nice left back Melvin Bard. He's a 25year-old defender. He's played 152 times for Nice and scored seven goals. Um, I don't know whether there's much in this one or not, but his name, like I said, was mentioned over the weekend that has circulated again today. It'd be it would be very evident if we ended up getting another left back before we got a right back. But listen, let's see what happens. Let's see what happens. And finally, Florentina are one of the clubs interested in taking Everton striker Betto before the transfer deadline just next Tuesday. The 28-year-old is in the last 12 months of his contract at Everton, although the Trophies do have a one-year option to extend Beto's contract. He scored nine Premier League goals last season. Um, Nottingham Forest and two unnamed Turkish clubs along with Florentina, all credited with an interest in the striker before the window shuts. That's it for the daily news.
