The Reason God Suddenly Turns Things Around In Your Life | The Glory Hour
Watch on YouTubeVideo summary
The episode from "The Glory Hour" features a compelling conversation between host and guest Abby Turvet, author of *The Power of Suddenly*, exploring how God frequently intervenes in human lives with sudden and unexpected grace. The discussion highlights that scripture is filled with instances where God acts immediately after seasons of waiting, prayer, or despair, often opening doors that were not part of the believer's original plan. Abby shares her personal journey from childhood faith to facing a career drought in 2021, illustrating how God redirected her path to Charisma Media in Florida rather than fulfilling her specific job requests. This experience underscores a central theme: God's plans frequently surpass human expectations, using trials to build character and deepen one's relationship with Him while refining faith over time.
Abby explains that the concept of sudden divine intervention was born from a revelation during her scripture study, where she realized God often heals and answers prayers abruptly after a period of silence. She details overcoming significant challenges during the writing process, including spiritual warfare and feelings of blockage, by trusting in God's authority and timing. A powerful metaphor used throughout is that of a plant being repotted into a larger space to flourish; similarly, God uproots believers from their comfort zones to prepare them for greater purposes, removing old parts of themselves to make way for new beginnings. This process transforms fear into confidence and heals internal wounds, as seen when Abby witnessed numerous miracles in a short period, including a supernatural shift in her sister's curiosity about scripture and the removal of darkness from her life.
The narrative further illustrates God's meticulous care through specific examples, such as Abby moving to Florida where He guided her to an apartment that exceeded her requests regarding view, appliances, rent, and neighborhood peace. Remarkably, even small details like hardwood floors matching her kitchen table were fulfilled, demonstrating that both major and minor miracles occur daily to bring glory to God. The host praises the story of encountering God amidst waiting, noting how such conversations draw people closer to Him and enrich the soul. Ultimately, the conversation emphasizes that while God does not always grant immediate requests, He is actively working behind the scenes to turn situations around for those who trust in His timing and authority.
The segment concludes with a heartwarming invitation for viewers facing sickness, mental torment, loneliness, broken relationships, or financial need to seek sudden breakthroughs and restoration through prayer. Abby leads an intercessory prayer asking God to intervene tangibly in the lives of listeners, solidifying belief in miracles through personal experiences of His presence during worship. The episode ends with a strong recommendation for readers to explore Abby's book, *The Power of Suddenly*, which is described as an enriching and inspiring resource for anyone seeking to understand how God suddenly turns things around in their lives. Through these stories, the video reinforces the truth that the latter days are better than the former, encouraging believers to embrace new beginnings with confidence in God's sovereign plan.

The word suddenly is everywhere
throughout scripture. It's in the Old
Testament. It's in the New Testament.
[music] It's everywhere. And it connects
to God's miracles. It connects to how he
does things. [music] And if I look at it
and the word immediately, that's another
one that happens a lot in there as well.
But when you look at it, [music] you
say, "Oh my goodness, people, it didn't
matter what they were waiting for or
what they were praying for [music] or
what they weren't praying for anymore at
that point." because they had lost hope.
God did things when [music] he was ready
to and he did them very quickly. That
after this period of time of of waiting
and pressing in and [music] prayer that
he would do the miraculous and when it
would happen, it would happen very very
quickly and that people would be made
whole suddenly. [music]
Hey, Glory Hour family. I'm so glad that
you are joining me today. We're going to
go bit on a journey together because if
you've been here, I've been here too and
it's really important for us to get
revelation and understanding and wisdom
when we go through seasons of waiting
for a miracle. Is that you right now? Or
you're waiting for a promise to come to
pass. Or have you ever felt like you've
been in the wilderness for way too long?
I've been there. Maybe that's where you
are today. And I'm just so grateful for
our guest Abby Turvet. She has an
encouraging word and revelation. She's
going to share with us about how holding
on to hope for spiritual breakthrough.
Abby is a writer and editor for Charisma
Media and she's passionate about
education, clear communication, and
using words to inspire faith and courage
in others. In her book, The Power of
Suddenly, Abby explores powerful stories
of biblical miracles, revealing how God
still moves through signs and wonders
today. Abby, it is an absolute joy to
have you on the Glory Hour today.
>> Oh, thank you so much for having me. It
is such an honor and a privilege to be
here with you. You know, Abby, before we
dive into the power of suddenly, because
I know there's so much that God is like
jam-packed into your spirit and your
soul to release into us today, can you
just take us through a little bit of
your journey and your background with
us?
>> Yeah, of course. Um, well, starting
early on, you know, my parents were both
teaching me the principles of prayer
from the beginning. You know, my mom
loves Ephesians 6, my dad loves the
Lord's Prayer. there was no way that I
was going to not be hearing about
prayer, hearing about Jesus, hearing
about the word of God. Um, so that
started for me really, really early on.
Um, I remember being like two or three
years old and asking like who is the
trinity and like trying to like figure
out like father, son, and spirit. And I
remember being like very young trying to
figure that out. Um, and then about 11
years old, I was reading my Bible of all
things just in my room alone one day.
And that was when the truth of I am a
sinner and Jesus is the one who can save
really connected with me. Um just
sitting there reading the Psalms, just
reading about the word of God and just
fully giving my life over at that point.
And from there, I feel like God with me
has really done a journey. It's been a
journey and a process. Um probably
because he knows I'm very much a
destination driven person. Even when you
talk about vacations or or things like
that, I'm like, I don't like the travel.
I don't like waiting in line. I don't
like any of that. Just get me where
we're going. So, in his irony, he has
made my whole life basically a process
of, you know, learning more about him,
learning refinement, going through the
fire with him. Um, just learning how to
forgive, learning how to obey. And that
has really been my journey up until this
point. And then back in 2021,
um I was graduating from undergrad
um with Regent University, went to a
Christian college and I was at this fork
in the road. I was praying for jobs,
praying and praying and praying. I was
applying. I was doing all of the things
that you would think about doing in the
right way. And it nothing seemed to be
happening. all the doors that I was
like, "This door is going to open.
There's no reason this door shouldn't
open." Those were the doors that just
they were like jammed shut. They were
not opening for me at all. And I was
like, "This isn't really working for me.
I'm not sure why this isn't happening."
And I remember at that point in time
um just fully saying, "Okay, Lord, this
is scary, but not my will, but whatever
your will is." And from that point, he
just very quickly, suddenly, if you
will, opened that door for me to come to
charisma. I mean, every time I prayed,
it was within like five, 10 minutes from
me praying something like that and them
giving me a call back, giving me an
email, something about moving forward to
the next stage. And I was like, I think
maybe God is actually answering my
prayer. It wasn't where what I was
thinking. I had a whole list. I had
written out an actual list of places
that I thought or or things I thought
were going to be the answer. Um because
you know I studied journalism and I was
thinking like maybe local news, maybe
this, maybe that. And so I was kind of
thinking in that direction. I you know
tried some ministry you know related
things as well. But I was I was kind of
thinking in this one direction and the
thing that God had for me was not on my
list but it was his list. And from
there, I've really just watched over the
past five years that I've been here now
of seeing God take me from being a
marketing copywriter to them actually
opening up the door for me to have my
very first book. And so God has just
used that whole process of just saying,
"I trust you. I'm going to trust you
even if I don't see it to kind of bring
me to exactly where I am right now."
>> You know, Abby, I love just you sharing
your story so much. Can I ask you, how
old are you? 27.
>> 27. Oh, I love it. So, you're Are you
Gen Z?
>> Yes.
>> Yes. Technically, yes. In the end, but
yes,
>> you're technically like you're Gen Z,
but no, like I'm like I'm older. I'm I'm
30. I almost said I'm 37. I'm 38, like
the older millennial. But I just love
hearing your journey and your story from
even as a young girl is that you had
this affinity and desire to read the
scriptures. Um, and it reminded me of
myself. I feel like we have so many
similarities um and things that through
our journey and going through and that
you said you know I'm a destination
person like you think you have all these
things written down like God this is
where I think I'm going to be in five
years and by this place I'll be working
here and this is a job and all of those
things and then it's he puts you through
this process that he's like I'm actually
I have something even much bigger than
what you had in mind of working in local
news or whatever it may be that I'm
going to open this major door for you in
Florida for Charisma Media where I'm
going to use the gift that I've imparted
into you through writing and your voice
is going to be touch just so many lives
not just you know just around the world.
I mean it is truly incredible and at 27
and you're just getting started. So I
your your story and just like hearing
your journey really is inspiring and
touching.
>> Yeah. No, thank you so much for that. It
it really has been like I said just this
whole process of just learning to trust.
you know, fear was something that I feel
like I just held on to for such a long
point in time. Um, and I feel like over
time, that's just something he's kind of
been taking away. And I think by
actually picking me up physically and
saying, "You're going to move 7 800
miles away." That really helps get rid
of some fear right off the bat because
you're like, "Okay, now I'm by myself.
Now I'm alone and I have to try to
figure this out." And I had always
thought maybe I would want to do
something like that. Maybe I'd really
want this point in time where it was
just me and Jesus. And when you say,
"Yeah, I want this just me and Jesus
thing." It's a lot harder than you would
think when you're like, "Oh, now it
literally is just me and Jesus." And how
are we going to navigate this? And you
know, God has brought along so many
wonderful people throughout the journey.
I mean, from the first week, the first
week that I moved to Florida, I actually
um there was a I had a list of churches,
had another list, I had a list of
churches that I was going to visit. And
um the one that I ended up going to
first, I said, "Well, this is the
closest one." I said, "I'll go to this
one first um just to kind of knock it
off of the list because I don't want to
come here." I walked in and that from
the moment I walked in, I was like, "Uh
oh, these people worship exactly how I
do. Their thought process is similar.
I'm looking around. I'm like, uhoh, I'm
seeing everything that I'm noticing here
about what I've been praying for in a
church. Oh no, this pastor seems great."
And then from there, within like the
next Sunday or something like that, I
had a group of girls like just really
just walk up to me and they were just
like, "Do you know anyone here?" I'm
like, "No, I just moved to Florida." And
it was like from then on like one of
those girls I'm still really close to
her and we're still great friends. And
so like he even put me in the church
that I was supposed to be in and put me
around the right people. He put me
around the right spiritual mentor that I
was supposed to be. Somebody introduced
me to her um that first year and like
she is just one of the closest people in
my life now. And it it's really just
been like this whole process of just
saying like, "Okay, I'm going to step
out in faith even if it doesn't look
like my list or my plan." Um, and you
know, I am so grateful that I didn't
pick even those other churches. When I
think about it, when I think about like
I'm so glad I didn't just like walk
around going like church shopping the
way that I thought I was going to until
I picked the right one. Um, it really
just ended up being exactly where God
needed me to just to grow because, you
know, plants, we're like plants. We
really are. You know, you have to you
have to grow the root and you have to
grow something deep. Um, and that takes
time for it to actually flourish and
grow and produce any fruit. And if
you're just moving from one thing to
another, it's very hard to do that. So,
I feel like God just kind of said, "This
is everything you need right here in
this really close proximity actually
from where everything is um right near
where I live." And he's just kind of
used that opportunity to just grow me. I
love it. I love it. Even Abby, I can
just see like the twinkle that is in
your eye. I just think I just see God of
just this amazingly
wild journey that he's been taking you
on from, you know, you said you moved
700, 800 miles away from home. is home.
>> Yeah. My parents currently live in uh
North Carolina, but I'm originally from
Virginia. Lived in there most lived
there most of my life. So,
>> and it's like he uprooted you, right?
He's like, "Okay, I'm going to uproot
you." Like, I guess the plant analogy is
coming out today, but he's like
uprooting you and planting you in a
whole different place because you know
what's even coming to mind is um I love
plants. I'm a plant mom and you know
when you grow your plant there's it's in
a certain pot, but when it starts to
outgrow the pot, you you got to get a
new pot. And so, so even just as you
were speaking and just even what God is
just like dropping my heart even for you
is that he was repotting you and putting
you in a bit like a bigger space and a
bigger place so you could flourish and
grow and just walk in the gifts and the
calling that he has for you. And one
thing Abby I just love is you know when
you're your title of your book is like
the power of suddenly. It it sounds like
and what I you know and I'm reading
through your journey and your story and
your book is that your life has been a
bunch of suddenly this combination. So
can you just share a little bit about
the revelation that God gave you about
the suddenly moment cuz I know in church
sometimes like oh suddenly it's coming
get excited but suddenly it's a journey
it's a path and that he's led you on and
then he's given you this opportunity to
share with others what it looks like.
>> Yeah. Well, so with the book especially,
um I believe it was in 2024. Uh I have
been deeply reading scripture in I feel
like in a even greater capacity than I
ever really had. Like I'd always been
trying and asking God for more and more
and more, but I it felt like a whole new
level um really for the first time. And
at the end of the year, he really asked
me. He said, "What did you notice
reading throughout scripture this year?"
And when I tell people a light bulb
moment, I mean, it was more than a light
bulb moment. It was like just something
turned on. Like a switch just turned on
my brain. I said, "The word suddenly is
everywhere throughout scripture. It's in
the Old Testament. It's in the New
Testament. It's everywhere. And it
connects to God's miracles. It connects
to how he does things. And if I look at
it, and the word immediately, that's
another one that happens a lot in there
as well. But when you look at it, you
say, "Oh my goodness, people, it didn't
matter what they were waiting for or
what they were praying for or what they
weren't praying for anymore at that
point because they had lost hope." God
did things when he was ready to and he
did them very quickly. that after this
period of time of of waiting and
pressing in and prayer that he would do
the miraculous and when it would happen,
it would happen very very quickly and
that people would be made whole
suddenly. You know, scripture talks
about how everyone who was sick that you
know Jesus was with like it says all
were healed, you know, like all of them.
So God was like healing people holy. He
was also giving them the gifts and the
desires that that he had promised. I
think about Abraham and Sarah and just
how long of a wait that they really had
just waiting for that child and that God
did answer and he did answer um just
what he told Abraham from the very
beginning that he would make his
descendants so numerous. And so that was
something that the Lord really just
placed on me and just placed on my
heart. And I actually took a notebook. I
wrote it by hand at first. Um I really
did. I I had a beautiful notebook that I
had put away. someone had given it to me
for Christmas one year and I said, "This
is so pretty. Like, I can't just use it
on a regular, you know, journaling or
sermon notes or something like that. I
was like, I have to save this for
something special. I don't know what
that is, but I'll save it for something
special." And after I really just
realized that, I said, I have to write
something. I picked up that notebook. I
picked up pencil. I wrote the
introduction. And I I remember laughing
and actually just being like, "That is
the best thing I've ever written in my
life." And from then, I I took out, you
know, my bi I took out my Bible. I said,
"Okay,
here's an outline and just here's all of
the different ways that God does
miracles and here the here's the
miracles. Here they are." And just kind
of outlining that. And then from there,
I just took it by hand, wrote everything
by hand, sitting with a paper Bible. Um,
really just going back in time in
essence really of just like writing with
a notebook and my Bible out and just
writing all down by hand at first. And
then from there, I was like, "Okay, now
I have to type everything." So, for
something that was supposed to be very
sudden, it took quite a while. It was a
process um of just having to write all
of that out and then typing it all out.
But just through that, I feel like God
was really getting all of the stories
even ingrained in myself as well. That
way it wasn't just for other people, but
that way it was also for [clears throat]
me too because he he wants you to
believe what you're saying and he wants
you to believe what you're writing and
for it to become a core piece of of who
you are really of just knowing that yes,
when you pick up the scripture from the
very beginning to the very end, you can
say he is the same yesterday, today, and
forever. And there's no there's no um
fallacy in here that everything in here
is true and that is the same that who he
was then is who he is now and he does
not change. And if he did not he does if
he doesn't change um who he is and that
means that whatever he did in scripture
then he'll do it for me now. And that
was really this big revelation and
download it. It it took time. It really
did take time. And it took me once again
walking outside of my comfort zone and
saying like I have a book idea. Um you
know like I don't know how this is going
to go but I have a book idea. and um
just seeing like God give me favor in
that way and just seeing him um really
just pour his spirit into it and the
people that he's brought alongside of
that process um from every single editor
who worked on it and every single you
know person who who did every single bit
to help me along with it like he really
just placed all the right people and all
the right dominoes in effect really for
it you know a I just love if you're
sharing your journey in this process
because um I would I want to say assume
that probably writing a book was always
a dream that was on your heart
>> that you've always wanted to write a
book and so it's I know there's people
watching like I have this one thing that
God has placed in my heart but it's like
this journey and the steps that he takes
me like our steps says you know the
steps of a righteous man righteous woman
they are ordered so he's ordering your
steps every you know every step of the
way and then putting you in the right
place at the right time surrounding
around the right people so boom it comes
forth and it comes out and it's this
beautiful revelation that you are
literally living the revelation out in
your life like he's taking you on this
beautiful journey and it um and it's
amazing. It's just this this wonderment
of like just knowing that it's more than
just a belief. I think we go from you
know growing up as teenagers or you know
we're in early 20s we graduate from
college where there's this moment where
we're like all right God like here's my
life. I don't know what's going to
happen, but I'm trusting you. And he
takes you on this wildly amazing,
beautiful journey. And it's these little
moments that add up to like this
suddenly um that completely changes your
your life. And it's refreshing. And
you're you're never you're never the
same. Like I love how you were just
saying that like the moment we realize
it's not just okay, you're the same, you
know, today, yesterday, and forever. No,
it's like I'm living that out. It's it
changes everything.
>> Yeah, it does. It changes your
perspective on things. It makes you say,
"Okay, if someone is is struggling and
they feel like God won't heal them from
something," then you can say, "But this
says that he is the God who heals all of
our, you know, all of our diseases and
and forgives all of our iniquities."
Well, if he's the same God who did that
then, he's the same God that will do
that now. And you know, you look at and
you say someone who's asking for a
child, like I already brought up with
Abraham and Sarah. But if you are when
you're you're saying like, I'm
struggling with infertility. I'm
struggling with these things, but I
believe God's given me this promise.
Every single person, every single woman
you look at in scripture who prayed for
a child, God granted that to her. You
know, I look at Hannah and I think about
Hannah and just how she was praying and
crying and so literally unintelligible
where the priests thought that she was
drunk because of just how her utterance
was just so beyond this world. And no,
she was actually pouring out her heart
to the Lord. And God granted from that
day, he saw the prayer and he granted
her that gift and that promise at the
right time. And he didn't just give her
a child, but he gave her Samuel. You
know, he gave her what would be that
great prophet of Israel. So, you know,
when you think about our prayers and
just
they they mean so much more than I think
a lot of people realize. Um because just
one prayer is a plea to God and another
prayer is another plea to God. And as
you keep praying and praying and
praying, he will answer because
scripture tells us that we can come
boldly before his throne that we can
come before that throne of grace that we
have that ability to do so. And so as
you just keep praying and and asking the
Lord and seeking the Lord and not just
about your earthly wants or desires, but
even seeking his face, you know, wanting
to know him more because so many times I
know I've said I'm like, I want to know
you more. I want to experience more of
you. I want to experience more of your
glory. Um, in a lot of ways that's come
where it's been like, here's a
challenge, you know, walk through the
challenge and he'll get to know me more.
I'm like, okay, that's not exactly what
I wanted. But if you can praise him in a
valley and then you can also praise him
on a mountaintop, you see all the facets
of God. You see everything that he
really is and that he's good and
faithful to bring every single thing to
completion.
You know, Abby, I love when you brought
up the story of Hannah because that's
one of my favorite um stories and the
journey of Hannah in the Bible of how
she was just pleading before the Lord um
because she was barren and just like
waiting for this this promise. Um and
it's so beautiful that like God in the
right timing, boom, she gets pregnant.
She's like Samuel, but she also had
other children as well. That's something
that it's it's amazing. It wasn't just
one the promise of one, but of um
others. And I just love like her faith
walk is, you know, something that we can
follow and emulate in our own lives. And
it's just so important to have that, you
know, that faith in the midst of whether
when you were talking about we're on the
mountain and are in the valley, it's
important to trust him in the midst of
it. And I'm just curious, you know,
through your journey, how how did God,
what did he show you? like what were
some of the things that you had to do in
the midst of your valley seasons and
some of the ways that God met you to
help you to continue on when it wasn't
easy and it was hard to really see and
believe that maybe this promise is
really going to come to pass.
>> Yeah, absolutely. You know, I will say
if you want to experience some warfare,
um writing a book is the great way of
doing so. I will say um cuz I I really I
really walked also like through I feel
like just a a greater level of that than
I ever really had um while writing the
book but even even before that as well.
And um you know it would be like through
prayer and I mean I had all kinds of you
know it felt like spiritual attacks like
actual like supernatural like attacks
and things happening where I'm about to
pray for someone and then I feel
something trying to stop me or whatever
it was you know it was just like this
ongoing thing where it just felt like I
was being affected in a lot of ways. But
I realized that through it, God was
really teaching me a about authority. Um
because we have that authority in
Christ. And to know, hey, remember your
identity. Remember your identity. It's
in me. It's in me. Don't let anything
stop you from your mission. Don't let
anything stop you from your goal. Don't
let anything stop you um from that. And
before really walking into
before really walking into that season,
um I think God really gave me a heads up
that there was going to be some some
tough times coming. Um I had had a a
dream actually where I had I was about
to swim into this water that was covered
with all kinds of creatures and stuff
that were not great, right? But their
only way off of where I was was to go
through this, was to go through it. And
you know, very soon right after that is
kind of when I felt like all of that
kind of started. And actually after I
moved from where I was living at the
time and I moved to a new location um I
was taking a walk actually and because I
actually moving from one spot to another
I actually kind of felt like I was like
I feel like warfare was like lifting and
stuff like I feel like it's lifting off
of me and I was walking around um the
neighborhood and I noticed I didn't move
far but I noticed this beautiful lake. I
mean, there is a beautiful, beautiful
lake. Um, and when I looked at it, I
said, "Wow, that is so pretty." And I
saw
uh across from it was where the 711 was
near my old place. But I had no idea
there was a beautiful lake there.
Because when I was over on that side of
things, I couldn't see that there was
something so beautiful right there and
in front of me because I didn't have the
vision to see it. I I couldn't see it.
All I could see was right there in the
immediate. And we're trying to press
through God. were trying to keep through
to the mission. But it's like he brought
that dream back to my mind immediately
of like you've made it to the other
side. Like you're on the other side of
just every single thing that you felt
like was just trying to come against you
and your words and your writing and um
your ability to even pray as an
intercessor. You know, it I realized I
was like, "Wow, this is beautiful from
this side." And that's how it is a lot
of times with life is we see things
afterwards and we go that was beautiful.
Like thank you God for walking me
through that. Thank you for taking me
through that that time. Thank you for
taking me through it. And I look at it I
say like I have literally crossed. So
like it's it's so close. So, I didn't
even see it, but just this beautiful
lake that I like to walk, you know, by
there in the evenings and stuff and see
the sunset over there. And um yeah, so I
I think if anyone is dealing with
anything mental, physical, spiritual, if
it just feels like there is just
blockage in the way, like there is
another side to it. Um there is a
suddenly moment really there is a
suddenly moment to things. There is that
moment where God says, "Okay, you've
passed the test." You know, you've
passed the test. You've been faithful.
You've been obedient. Like, you know,
here here is the reward. And the
greatest reward of it all really is you
say, "I know him more. I know him more
because I walked through something hard.
I know him because
he was with me even when it felt like no
one was with me." And uh just thinking
about that and just saying like
he he is faithful to the very end no
matter what it has been like for someone
to just see that and know that even I
can say in my own life like he walked me
through something hard. He walked me
through I was having to pray over my
house all the time and just having to
pray over my environment and stuff and
seeing that I'm like but he taught me
stuff from it. He taught me how to pray
in more effective ways. He taught me how
to see things in the spiritual ways and
spiritual eyes that he wanted me to see
things with. That way, not only could I
write things that people need, but I can
also know that the words that I put down
on pen and paper are resonating with
people in a different way that goes
beyond even just them reading something.
But it it it's supposed to strike to the
heart and to the mind um to bring people
to Jesus.
>> You know, Abby, as you were just um
sharing, what kept coming back to my
mind is when you were talking about um
you saw the 7-Eleven and there was a
lake and you couldn't see it, but
there's this journey that we have to go
through is I think of Caleb and Joshua
like getting to the promised land. And
often time the thing that is promised,
the thing that we've been praying and
crying out and waiting for God for like
there is this journey. We don't like to,
you know, think we have to face all the
giants and land, but he gives us that
strength to conquer them, but he also
wants to give us divine sight. Like we
walk by faith and not by sight. It's a
different way of seeing and the
discernment um how to go through these
hurdles and these hard times. And I just
think it is that when you were just
talking, I just saw this like image of
just how God used that in your life to
show you in this divine moment of this
is where I'm taking you and you couldn't
see it before, but I've allowed you to
go through certain things. I've allowed
you to suffer some things cuz
longsuffering is one of the fruit of the
spirit that we don't like yes
>> to [laughter] talk about. But it's it's
necessary, right? That there's sometimes
when you're when you're walking through
the valley, when you're going through
really hard times that you just you
experience a facet and a nature of God
that you can't get anywhere else unless
you go through that trial. But the most
beautiful thing is is we know that with
the Israelites too, they made it to the
promised land. There were battles along
the way, but there's things that
strengthen them. There's things that
they were able to exceed. You know, God
opened their eyes and just saw him as
like Adonai Savo, which is one of my
favorite names of God, the Lord of the
angel armies that he is fighting on our
behalf. But he's also training us right
through the journey and the process so
that you know there's certain things
that we need strength and certain skills
that we need to acquire. So when we get
to the promised land, when we get to
that thing we long awaited for that we
know how to steward it well. And that's
what I just hear from what you were
saying is that this journey that you've
been on that God has been leading you
on. He's like, "Daughter, I'm walking
you through some things like you got to
pray over your house and to do these
things, but it's because of where I'm
taking you and the promises that I have
for you."
>> Yeah. And you know, when I think about
uh something I I do discuss in the book
as well, but if you look, I believe it's
in Deuteronomy, um you know, God makes
it clear that there are things that the
Israelites
were going to encounter, endure that he
wasn't going to take away all of their
enemies all at once. Um because you
would have, you know, the animals of the
land that would take over it. It
wouldn't be sustainable. They wouldn't
be able to maintain. they wouldn't be
able to sustain long-term the victory if
everything had just happened all at
once. He took things out little by
little. He drove out their enemies
little by little so that they could
finally conquer it. So they could have
that moment there. And I think
sometimes, you know, it's something that
it can be very easy to say like, well,
God only has taken away a little bit of
something or he's only done a little bit
of something and it makes us kind of
like give up or wonder if he'll really
do something fully. But sometimes it's
that process and that journey that he's
trying to take you through instead to
take things out a little bit at a time.
That way, it also produces character and
it produces fruit because it is that
longsuffering that produces character.
It is that longsuffering that teaches us
to endure. It teaches us what it means
to suffer for the name of Jesus, which
isn't something that we really like to
talk about or think about um long term,
but it it is true. Like a faith that is
tested and tried, one that goes through
the fire with with God really is one
that comes out more beautiful and pure
and looks more like Jesus on the other
side than one if he just gave us
everything we wanted exactly when we
wanted it. There wouldn't really be a
reason to have faith. He would just be a
genie to us. But if he takes you through
stuff and you still cling on to him and
you still say, "Even if I don't get
this, even if it's not the way that I
want, even if it looks different than I
thought, I still choose you and I still
choose to praise you." That's what he's
after because it's all about
relationship. You know, nobody wants to
be forced to being love, you know, being
in love. Like God doesn't want to be
forced, you know, us forcefully loving
him. He wants us to choose to love him.
And and that's a really big part of him
just changing things with us a bit at a
time is because he's seeking that
relationship of saying, "I know you
can't do this on your own, but I'm going
to take you where you could never go on
your own."
>> That is that is so good that it is this
relationship of I mean, it's the
surrender. It's the laying it down of
knowing God, there's only certain places
I can go with you. like when I literally
lay it all at your feet and just trust
you in the midst of it. You know, Abby,
I went through a season several years
ago. Um the Lord spoke very clearly to
me. I was going to go through a season
of death and I'm like, "What are you?" I
was like, "Oh, okay." But it was
literally like people pass away, like
relationships changing. Like it was a
whole dynamic shift in my life. Um and
it was I mean I was down in the pit in
the valley and I'm and there was moments
I'm like, "God, how could you do all
this to But in the midst of it, um, I
learned about longsuffering. I learned
about Jesus being by my side. I learned
so much like from that one season, as
hard as it was, um, it it changed me for
the good. There was a lot of healing and
deliverance and things that needed to
come outside of me that God used that
season of just pruning me, um, to walk
in the things where I am now. And it
just sounds like with even the same of
your journey is that you know there's
moments where you don't know where
sometimes what God is doing. You don't
know what's happening but it's just that
trust like there's a scripture in the
book of Job though you slay me yet I
trust you. Um and there's something
about that clinging to God no matter
what no matter how ugly it gets how bad
it gets because we know on the other
side there's a promise and there's
victory and but those are some of the
hardest seasons. So we h we have we have
but they're necessary.
>> Yeah. No, it's so true though because we
we in our human flesh, we don't want to
walk through it. We don't want to walk
through the hard things, but sometimes
it's only by the hard things that he
gets us to that other side. Um, and you
know, I can say one thing that through
all of through all of what I was
experiencing and going through and
stuff, I had the most amazing, glorious
experience with Jesus, to say the very
least. You know, I I I realized I was
like, you're not just having me write a
book about miracles. You want me to
experience the miracles, too. And I was
at a worship night at my church and I
physically had the presence of God just
like come and just like touch me from
like the top my head to the bottom of my
feet. Like it was it was wild. It was
the most tangible thing that I've ever
experienced. And it felt more real than
anything that I I've ever experienced in
my life that I I was like, "This is more
real than I feel like even the people
I'm standing around right now because
I've been praying to you. I've been
asking. I'm like, God, please end the
warfare. End it all." And it was just
like this glorious peace and just this
miraculous like presence that just swept
over me that I'm like I feel so much as
if I have touched the hem of God's
garment. You know, like where you're
just like I feel like I have physically
touched the hem of your garment because
I've cried to you. I've asked you for
all kinds of things and you've made me
seen and known. And you know, I I think
that's another reason that just the
miraculous really does resonate with me.
It's like because once you experience
it, you can't say that it didn't happen.
You know, you you might sound strange to
maybe people who are skeptical about the
miraculous, but the truth of it is is it
what matters is what happens between you
and God. What matters is is how he
changes you in that moment. What matters
is how if you say yes to him, you don't
look back and you don't go back to, you
know, a skeptical mindset or or belief.
you just kind of step out of the boat
and into the faith and say, "I have
experienced the presence of God and I I
know him and he knows me and he calls me
daughter or son and he he sees every
every single thing that I've ever been
through and he knows every single thing
about me and there's nothing that has
ever stopped him or prevented him from
wanting to move forward with seeing me
in that way."
>> It's a it's a beautiful thing. The
presence changes everything when you
have those moments. And that's a
suddenly too is that when it just it
comes the glory comes crashing in and
you just, you know, you get caught up in
where he is. There's nothing like it.
And I've had those experiences, Abby, of
just like top of my head, the souls of
my feet, like I could just feel him or
even in the most broken states of my
life and just going before him. It's
just like pouring out your worship and
your love onto him is some of the
greatest things that we can do. And you
know, I just felt like, you know, Abby,
um, here at Cornerstone, we have a
prayer line that is 247 that you can
give a call at any time. And I just want
you to get just have a moment. You know,
you said you're an intercessor and you
love praying, but just to take a moment
to pray for that person that's waiting
for their suddenly that's waiting for
the promise. Can you just take a moment
and pray for them?
>> Yes, absolutely. Uh, God, we just give
you all the glory and the praise and we
give you the honor right now for what
you are doing. God, we thank you for
what you are doing in the people who are
watching in their lives. Jesus, I pray
right now. If anyone is struggling with
sickness, if anyone is struggling with
diseases, if anyone is struggling with
with health issues, God, I pray that you
would touch them from the very top of
their head to the bottom of their souls
the same way that you did for me, God.
And I pray that you would heal them,
Jesus. I pray if anyone is suffering
from mental torment, Jesus, I pray that
you would just take that away. take
every single bit of demonic oppression
away, Jesus. And we pray that all all
neural systems would just come back
together in the name of Jesus. For
anyone that is experiencing that mental
torment, God, for those who are feeling
lonely, God, I pray that they would pick
up the phone and that they would know
that they are not alone, that you have
never left them, that you've never
forsaken them. God, that you are with
them right now in the name of Jesus. And
God, we pray for anyone who's
experiencing brokenness in their
families, in their marriages, and their
finances. God, we pray for those
suddenly moments to come. Jesus, that
you are going to heal and restore every
single relationship that has been
broken, that should not be broken. God,
we pray for the financial restoration to
come for those who have been seeking for
your provision and your hand. God, I
pray that you would continue to provide
for them. I pray that you would continue
to pour out your heart and your soul and
your spirit, God. That they would
continue to see you and that they would
continue to seek your face, Jesus. for
anyone who does not know you yet. If
they're not sure, God, if this is for
real, I pray that they would pick up
that prayer line, Jesus, and I pray that
they would give their lives fully over
to you. That this isn't this isn't a
guessing game. This isn't a waiting
moment anymore. That this is their
moment. This is the moment that you have
called them into. That Jesus really did
die and he really did rise again for
them. That they may be saved. That they
may have that relationship with you and
someday enter into your glorious
kingdom. So God, we lift up all those
people who are watching and listening
right now and we give you them into your
precious arms. In the matchless name of
Jesus, we pray. Amen.
>> Amen. You know, Abby, I just have to say
when you were praying, I just had like
this vision of like where you have been
in the spirit realm that you were
lifting us up. Like I literally saw this
like big lifting and that you were
carrying us into this place into the
throne of God. So, thank you for your
intercession. Thank you for your
prayers. could literally feel as you
were you were taking us taking us up
into that place and to a different
dimension. It was so so beautiful and I
don't want to miss this point because
something you said in the midst of your
prayer and I wonder if it's the miracle
you said there was miracles attached to
even as you wrote this book that God has
been faithful some things because so can
you just share the miracles that you've
experienced of healing and that he's
done in you.
>> Yeah, of course. And and a lot of it the
you know like I shared earlier was was
that really was that big the presence of
God just like coming over me that day.
And you know I can say I've just seen so
many miracles. I feel like I've seen
prophetic words that were given to me as
well that started coming to pass. You
know actually one person gave um a
prophetic word to me um about something
related to my family and I wasn't sure
whether or not it was going to happen.
And I was like, that's kind of a big
ask. And it it actually did happen um in
the middle of all of that. Um you know,
it was it was actually near my mom's uh
birthday and we were going to have a
celebration and a bunch of my family
came down to visit me actually and we
all spent time together. But um someone
during all of me writing the book in the
process and stuff, she actually talked
about um family um specifically about my
sister coming and seeing me. Um, and I
was like, I'm not sure if that's going
to happen or not. And lo and behold, it
was within a few months after that that
I actually am like, wow, my sister's
sitting here with me. And it was so
wonderful. But so many miracles. Um,
I've seen people become curious again
about scripture, about the word of God,
who I wasn't sure if they ever would.
Um, I've seen people starting to be
interested in the supernatural who I
didn't know if God could ever speak to
them about the supernatural. You know,
some like very closed doors, closed
walls up. Um, so I feel like he's been
giving me a lot of these little moments
that are they've really just started to
add up to where I've seen it in my own
life as well, where I've seen God, you
know, just heal even parts of me that I
didn't know needed to be healed. You
know, you're like, "Oh, wow. that's been
in the back of my mind forever and like
now it's not oh I used to be scared to
do this and now I'm not and you know
it's really just been a process like I
said you know I've been I've prayed so
much of saying to God take out anything
of me that is not of you take out
anything bad in me that's not of you
take out any darkness that's in me
that's not of you because I don't want
it because I don't want those things
because I don't want to Um, I don't ever
want to be someone who spends life
looking in the rearview mirror because I
truly believe that the latter days are
better than the former days. I feel like
scripture points that to us many times
in many different ways that he does that
the latter is better than the former and
that when he does things that the old
passes away and that the new is here.
And so anything I feel like that I
didn't even know that was still just a
part of me that he's just been like
taking it away, taking it to the
wayside, saying, "Nope, that can't come
into the new part of your life. That
can't come into the next part of your
life." I'm like, "Okay, that's right."
you know, even the process of moving was
a miracle for me um from one place to
another because I had been at the one
place the whole time I'd lived in
Florida. And it was it was a bit of a
step for me because I had gotten very
comfortable being there, but I was like,
"But I not supposed to be here anymore."
And um I was like, "Okay, I have these
specific requests, Lord," once again
with my list. And I said, "I have these
specific requests. I think you might be
able to fulfill some of these for uh the
place that I want because I made it
clear. I was like it has to have a
beautiful view and a better washer and
dryer than what I have right now. The
rent has to be better than what I have
right now. And you know, I just, you
know, went through the whole list and uh
all of those things were answered and
answered more abundantly. And it is such
a peaceful, wonderful neighborhood that
I'm in. Um, the last one was great, but
once again, the latter is much better
than the former was. Like, it is just so
peaceful and it was something that, you
know, I'd wanted to do. I was scared to
do, but I felt like it was a miracle in
itself because he knew the right time.
He knew the right apartment number. He
knew the right place. He just knew all
of it. like down to the very details of
just um even the hardwood floors
matching my kitchen table because I
wasn't sure if I even wanted to take the
kitchen table, you know? I was like, I
might have to get a whole new table. I
don't know how this is going to work. I
mean, he just looked at every little
detail. I'm like, wow. Like everything
like looks great. Everything that I
everything that I really wanted just
fell into place with it. Um, so he just
kind of took me through a so many big
miracles, little miracles, all kinds of
miracles in between just through the
process of even maybe even even writing
the book. Um, all the way up until now.
And I'm just I'm in awe really because
miracles are big, they're small, and
they happen every single day. And you
know, he gets all the glory.
>> He gets all the glory. And you know,
Abby, I just loved as you were just
sharing um that what's truly amazing is
he's in the details. Like the small
things of, hey, I like God, my I want my
kitchen table to match my floors. He
knows. I mean, the there's these little
things where I just know God, he's he's
so good and he does exceedingly above
that we can ask, think, or imagine. And
I just want to say from the bottom of my
heart, it's been such a joy just to have
our conversation to hear your journey
and your story and what you're pouring
into for us to understand the suddenly
in the midst of the waiting, in the
midst of encountering him. It's just an
opportunity for him to pour out his love
and his light so we can spread the hope
and joy to others. So, it has been so
much fun having our conversation today.
>> Yes. Yes. It has been so wonderful. I
have so enjoyed it and you know it is
just such a a great thing for me to see
the Lord just use conversations just use
conversations to bring people closer to
him. Yeah, it's it's so wonderful and
great. And so we just thank you all for
joining us today on the Glory Hour and
also check out Aby's book, The Power of
Suddenly. It is really a great read and
it's going to enrich you and inspire and
nurture your soul so you can go into the
chapter that God is calling [music] you
into. We'll see you next time.
