Two in the box, ready to go. We be fast and they be slow. Wow. Today we're taking a look at the 40th anniversary set. Real Ghostbusters Janine Melnitz and Louis Tully from Hasbro. Stay tuned. >> [music] [music] >> Welcome back to Come Get It TV, the only place on YouTube where all geek culture collides. I'm Shannon and today, as I said, we are taking a look at the Real Ghostbusters Janine Melnitz and Louis Tully 40th anniversary set. This was done by Hasbro, but as you can see, the Kenner logo and it's in the bottom and that's very reminiscent of a very retro feel since Kenner did do the original figures. And this goes along with the Real Ghostbusters retro figures that were released a few years back. Full disclosure, my wife ordered this for me. She knew how much I wanted it to complete my collection and so she got it for me. So, let's take a look at it. Uh this does come in a box, a shipping box. It's wrapped in like a cardboard netting type deal uh to protect it. Uh they did a really good job. You will need a razor blade to cut the tape off. Um I tried peeling it and it was taking forever. So, I did end up having to take a razor blade to open to uh cut open the box. Uh but as you can see here is the front. You have Janine Melnitz in her pink flight suit and Louis Tully in his olive colored [snorts] jumpsuits. And yeah, they they look like they're you know in the middle of busting some ghosts. And then we have the warning choking hazard small parts not for children under 3 years old. Um and then here is the side. We have the Real Ghostbusters logo up top. Let me adjust this a bit. There we go. Then we have Janine Melnitz. We have Gruesome Twosome Ghost. We have Louis Tully. And then on the bottom we have the Sore Throat Ghost. And now for the other side, it's pretty much the same thing. Not bad. And then around back join the Real Ghostbusters in their ghost chasing pursuits. The Real Ghostbusters heroes. 40 years ago Saturday mornings got a lot scarier thanks to the Real Ghostbusters. Started on a shoestring budget, no one thought they had a ghost of a chance for success. But with the rise of hauntings in the city business began booming. Relive the thrills and chills with two essential characters suiting up for the very first time in classic The Real Ghostbusters gear. Janine Melnitz with Gruesome Twosome Ghost. Janine Melnitz runs the Ghostbusters headquarters. What she refers to as Ghostbusters Central. A habit a habitual gum chewer and bubble blower. She's a little disorganized but an invaluable asset to the Ghostbusters team. Louis Tully with sore throat ghost. Who does your taxes? Accountant turned lawyer Louis Tully knows little to nothing about supernatural and can barely wield a Neutrona Wand. Still, he's got his own suit and lends a mostly helpful hand now and again. Official HQ membership card The Real Ghostbusters. Back off, man. I'm a scientist. So, you cut this out, you write your name on there and you're an official Ghostbuster official HQ member. So, as you can see, there is some danger uh small pieces, the Hasbro logo down there with some warnings and all the other stuff. All right. Now, there's the top of the box. The bottom. Now, let's open it up and take a look at the figures inside. So, as I as I mentioned, there is tape. You do need a razor blade or something if you want to keep the box intact. I tried peeling it. It wasn't really coming off that great. So, I got a razor and cut uh and then the way they're boxed in there, if you haven't gotten yours yet, is out first comes Louis Tully. And then, as you can see, comes Janine Melnitz, a member of Venkman's staff. And then we've also got this little detail here. Let me All right, so all this is is the warnings in different languages. So we got that. We have Janine, we have Louis. And I have to say they look really nice. Um I do kind of wish the proton streams um were the same color as the other four. But, you know, it's fine. It is what it is. Now let's go ahead and open the packs. And to do this, I'm going to use my trusty blade. Don't try this at home, kids. I am a professional. I say as I cut my finger off. All right, so first um I think I did a better job on the second one. Let me zoom back out. On the second opening the second one than I did on the first one. It is what it is. Um I'll probably these won't be displayed anyway. They'll be kept in the mailer box. So, but here we have Janine Melnitz and Louis Tully from The Real Ghostbusters toy line. I want to say Janine first put on the flight suit um her own pink flight suit in maybe season four or five. And then Louis, I think, in the final season. I want to say, I could be wrong. Um now prior to this Janine did wear Venkman's flight suit on a couple of occasions. And then she got her own pink flight suit. So, as we can see here, here's one of the ghosts. This is the ghost that comes with Louis. This is the sore throat ghost. So, I guess I have these wrong way around. And just like the others from the real uh other part of the toy line um they are made out of a softer plastic a transparent or translucent, anyway, plastic. Look at the details here. And in the back. Okay. And then the other one is the gruesome twosome ghosts. And apparently they're supposed to go on to the hands of the figures, I think. Could be wrong. Doesn't show it on the packaging. But will it focus? It will not focus. Okay. So now we have Janine Melnitz and Louis Tully. And their articulation is exactly the same as the other Ghostbusters. Five points of articulation. Arms go all the way around. Legs go up and down. And then the heads can turn all the way around like Reagan in the Exorcist. Okay. Now you will notice that Janine's proton stream is like a light blue. And Louis's is a purplish color. I believe I'm pretty sure I got those right. Yeah. Now, >> [clears throat] >> they didn't reuse the molds for these two like they did with the other Ghostbusters. Um obviously they needed fresh molds because Janine's a woman and Louis is much shorter than the others. So, they created new molds. And we have them here. Um so Janine does have the Ghostbusters patch on her shoulder. Then we have the proton pack and the little yellow string and the neutrino wand. And with these you got to be very careful. They are pretty brittle. Let me zoom out a little bit. You just turn here and you blast. Now with Louis, same articulation but as you can see he is much shorter. Um and instead of boots, he's wearing his regular shoes, his dress shoes with his socks pulled up and kind of sagging. Um and it looks like he's got the sleeves, I don't know if they're rolled up or if the jumpsuit is just small on him. But you can definitely his forearms. And he does have an olive green flight suit. Got the Ghostbusters patch there. And then just like with Janine turn this and you bust some heads. Right? So now let's see how they look with the other four figures. So I was wrong about a few things. Um first thing was the color of the proton streams. Uh they are all in different colors. Um for whatever reason I thought they were all yellow. Um but they've been displayed for so long on my shelf. As you can see they've collected dust. And their proton ones are generally connected to their proton packs. Um >> [clears throat] >> raise up. So I don't really see them see the streams all that often. So as you can see uh Janine has the light blue. Ray has the orange. Peter has the red. Uh Winston has the yellow. Egon has the green. And Louis has the purple. Uh something else I was wrong about was the molds. They are not all the same mold at least of the original four. They do each have their own distinct molds. Um as you can see Louis, I mean uh Ray is short and pudgy. Um and Venkman is slimmer and uh just a little bit taller than Ray. Winston is the taller still and more stockier, more built. Um and Egon he's the tallest and slimmest. Um So, they all do have their own distinct molds. And let's go ahead and move this over here. We'll move these guys down that way they are in order of height. So, that you can fully see the difference between them. And yeah, they look nice together. Um as I said, the original four um they've been standing on the shelf for so long they've collected dust. Um my shelves my display shelves are out in my garage gym. I don't dust as much as I should because it's such a pain in the ass to take all my figures down, dust them, and then try to stand them back up when I have very few display stands. Um especially since some of my shelves do kind of lean downward a little bit, uh getting certain figures to balance is a real pain in the ass. So, now just for fun let's go ahead and bring in the Ghostbusters Afterlife line and see how they compare to those figures. Real quick before I do bring in those others, something I noticed while putting the proton ones on the packs is that much like uh Ray Janine is a little front heavy uh because of the extra mold in the chest area. Uh so she can't stand up straight like the other Ghostbusters. Um similar to Ray you have to kind of lean her forward a little bit. Um because otherwise all the weight shifts to the back and she falls backwards and you risk breaking the uh proton stream. Just a little word of advice there. So now without further ado, let's go ahead and bring in the Afterlife Ghostbusters. All right, and here we are the entire line. Something I wish I would they would have done though is for the Afterlife figures or Frozen Empire figures, I forget which line they were from. I want to say Frozen Empire. Could be wrong. Um they should have stylized them uh at least the proton packs similar to these because they do have an animated look to them. Um and I think they would go really well with the Real Ghostbusters line. Uh if, you know, they would have gone the route of the same proton pack design. You could have kept them in the same color uh flight suits um and just you know, changed up the proton packs and wands uh just to kind of make them all look uniform. But, I really like how these figures look together. Um it's a really nice collection. Uh They get displayed on my shelf uh with my other Ghostbusters figures uh in my garage gym. And yeah, Louis and Janine are going to make excellent additions to this set. >> Happy Halloween.
