THE RAVENS FINALLY BROUGHT IN A VETERAN WR…SO DOES IT MEAN A DEAL IS COMING?!

After losing both Zay Flowers and Jacobe Lane in a game against the Colts, the Baltimore Ravens went out and signed former undrafted wide receiver Gage Lavdan. And that move told me a couple of different things about this team. Number one, it told me that ZFL's injury, it may not be nearly as bad as we thought it would, and he could return sooner rather than later. And then it also told me that even if Zay Flowers doesn't return, still with Jacobe Lane out, that they had a lot of confidence in this current wide receiver room. Why? because they didn't go out and get a veteran wide receiver. They didn't go out and get somebody with tons of experience. But now with the visit that they had yesterday, that kind of changes my tune on things. The Baltimore Ravens, they brought in Brandon Cooks, former first round pick, former Super Bowl, not winner, but player as a wide receiver with two different teams back-to-back years. Brandon Cooks is somebody that has made a lot of plays over the years in the NFL and the Ravens had him in for a workout. Now, that lets me know a couple of different things. Number one, with Zay Flowers, his injury, maybe it's a little worse than we initially thought. The reason I say that is because to this point, he has not practice all week. But even beyond that, it kind of changes my tune on how the Ravens felt and feel about their current wide receiver room. Maybe they aren't nearly as confident in them as they initially thought they were because they've been through these past couple of days of practice and they've seen what their other wide receivers have and maybe they looked and they thought, hm, you know what, maybe we do need some more experience in this room because outside of Rashad Baitman, this and and Chris Moore, the room is very very young and very very inexperienced. Uh, but this also could mean that they just doing their due diligence and they want to check every single box. They want to turn over every single stone and make sure that they exhaust every single option when it comes to the wide receiver room just in case cuz we always say stay ready so you ain't got to get ready. So maybe this is just the Baltimore Ravens doing their homework. But I will say that while they did bring in Brandon Cooks for a visit, could they potentially sign him in the near future? They could, but they may not have that option very soon because in the game on Thursday night, DJ Moore went down with a shoulder injury and it did not look good at all. So, I could see the Buffalo Bills bringing that old thing back because just last year they had Brandon Cooks on their roster. So, if the Ravens don't end up making a move for him, or if the Ravens decide, you know what, it's not of the essence right now, it's not that important, then I can see Buffalo swooping in to take Brandon Cooks from Baltimore. He said, "Steal steal what?" He said, "Hey, Graven, hope you and the family and the whole flock are doing spectacular. I'm so excited about this team after that win and really the whole preseason." Yeah, that preseason got us right, man. That that really set our expectations even higher. Anyway, he said, "Uh, Lamar averaged 13.4 yards per attempt. Derek Henry had six yards a pop. They went nuts. Got both Henry and Zon fantasy and the whole team looked amazing." I was just watching Get Up on ESPN and they said that under center Lamar was contained because he only went six of eight and 114 yards under center. And because they and Jacobe are injured, the offense will be onedimensional and they'll lose to the Saints. How is this still a thing? When will the media ever start to recognize Lamar Jackson's game? I don't think a Super Bowl is enough to stop the garbage. It'll only move the goalpost to he hasn't won three like Mahomes and I'm so sick of it. Much love, man, and apologies for the long question. No apologies necessary at all. The media needs to apologize though because like you said, no matter what happens, the goalpost will continue to be moved. Ravens could win the Super Bowl. Lamar could win regular season MVP. He could win Super Bowl MVP. And there will be people that still say, "Oh, that's not good enough. He should have done that a long time ago. Why doesn't he have, like you said, two or three Super Bowls by now?" There will always be something. But that's just the way that it's going to be with Lamar Jackson. And even people that have said X, Y, and Z about them and X, Y, and Z end up being completely wrong, completely false, completely invalid, they will still stick by their X, Y, and Z just because they don't want to admit that they were wrong. You know how there are certain things that you know you need to take care of, but you just keep putting them off? For me, it could be just going to get a normal checkup cuz a lot of times I don't feel like it. I got this, that, and the third to do, and I just keep pushing it off and pushing it back like crazy. He said, "Congrats to mentor with his first win as a Ravens head coach. Hopefully, Zay and Lane get healthy. Overall, I'll give us a B+ grade. Our big three on offense played great as Lamar, Henry, and Zay. Uh Lamar was efficient and was comfortable in the offense. Henry looks bigger and faster, and Zay looks faster as well in my opinion. He did he looked a lot faster even last year from the previous year. He looked a lot faster in 2025 than from 2024. So 2026, if he taking another jump, that's scary, man. That that's probably why his hamstring got messed up cuz he was running so fast and then didn't then doing all that zigzag and making all them people miss. Anyway, he said, "Uh, I felt like when Zay got hurt, the passing game became stagnant, and if it wasn't for us having Henry and the Colts weak defense, we were able to keep our lead. I was hoping for Bait to show up after Zay left, but he was a no-show. And Andrews continues to drop passes. We didn't score it at all in the third quarter. We left points on the board due to penalties. We had 10 or 11 penalties for close to 100 yards or more. And it cost Lane his first touchdown of his career." Yeah, that that was tough, man. He said, "I'll give uh Venga a pass cuz he's a rookie, but Ronnie shouldn't be getting penalties with him being a leader on that offensive line." I think Doyle called a well balanced offensive game for his first game. Defense played great and forced turnovers that we didn't see last season. Marlo and Roan Smith played well and Trey's presence was felt as a pass rusher. It sure was. He said, "Special teams played great. Luke made his kicks and Chris Moore should stay as our kick returner." Yeah, don't fix it if it ain't broken, man. He said, "Coaching was good overall. just wish we didn't play uh let off the gas cuz honestly I think we could have put 50 on the Colts. I don't think they let that foot off the gas but I and I I do agree we could have put 50 on the Colts but then penalties they erased a lot of yards. They erased a lot of plays. So yeah anyway said would have been a A+ grade if it wasn't for the penalties and run defense but great win and now time to put belt to behind on them Saints. Oh and good win John and can we get likely back please? Lol. Oh, that that would be nice cuz y'all already know how I feel about likely. Anyway, he said, "Forgot to mention that there were times when Lamar had so much time in the pocket after the Zay injury and nobody could get open." Uh, if Bait don't do nothing this week against the Saints, it might be time to trade him and let Lane, Tez, Wood, Wester, and Zat take his reps. But I wanted us to draft him. And I feel like if he can get right, he could be a key piece to this Super Bowl run. It's time, man. It's time. Uh, he said Lamar praised him and said he'll get more targets. So, let's see what happens. Do you think this could be the most efficient offense in Ravens history? It could be because Lamar's in year nine. So, this could be the best Lamar, this is the most experienced Lamar that we've ever seen. So, he done been there, done that. He knows the game even more now uh in year 9. Has more experience. So, it it could be, but let's see. Let's see the consistency now. He said, "Do you think Dean can be or already is the greatest OC we ever had?" All about consistency now. First game was great. Let's see the consistency. He said, "First time in franchise history, we had a 300 yard passer, 100 yard rusher, and 150 yard receiver in a game, plus 500 total yards of offense." He is detailed on timing and execution. Well, I can't argue that boy. He said, "Love Zay in the backfield with Lamar on certain plays. My favorite play was the Derrick Henry screen pass. Do you think we should sign Darius Sllayton who the Giants released or maybe Brandon Aayuk or Tyreek Hill?" Brandon Aayuk, he can't play right now. He would have to send Roger Goodell a letter. Tyreek Hill, we don't know the status of his health. Uh, so out of those three, I mean it would be Darius Sllayton by default. Um, but I I I out of the three, I would prefer Tyreek Hill, but I don't know what his health is right now. He said, "How do you feel about this team after week one? And what do you expect in week two?" Um, just consistency, just some fine tuning, really less penalties, too. I I really expect him to just take off on the Saints. I really do. I know I know the Saints could be a sleeper team, and I know they're going to present their challenges, but I expect the Ravens to do really well against New Orleans, he said. And John and Tomlin did a good interview together, by the way. Oh, I didn't watch that. I saw a little clips of it here and there, but I I didn't watch it. He also said, "Two people I love for you to have on your podcast." It's a guy from Sleeper Ravens YouTube channel. Sorry if I don't know his name. I I think you're talking about Ryan from Flock Rundown, I believe. Uh cuz I know he do a lot of different things, but I'm I'm pretty sure you're talking about him. He said uh and most importantly, Butter, if you ever seen his Oh, yeah. Yeah. We we done I mean how can you not like there's no way that you would be a Ravens fan and have not seen Butter stuff his reactions to the games and stuff. He react not only to Ravens game but a bunch of other different highlights and whatnot cuz that that man is out there. So yeah that that'd be a good idea. Javo what next question came from my guy John. He said hope all is well and bear with me. I'm trying to limit my craziness about the win. I don't know if I actually have a question to ask but did this not feel good? Of course Ravens get a win. It always feels good, but this win felt nice because it was a brand new era and we had a lead in the fourth quarter, but a lot of things didn't go our way. A whole lot of things didn't go away, but we still held it down and came out with a victory and a decisive victory at that. He said, "Roan with the interception." Oh, he fell off. I'm not saying he's prime, bro, but it's nice to see defensive success and I think Mo has come with a real defensive coach. I agree. He said, "Also, I'm guilty of it a little. just a little. But Zay looks like he took that not a number one wide receiver or a Baltimore one personally. Oh, I I I think he did. I think he did cuz they be seeing all that stuff. That's why he made that comment about he was going to run straight in the offseason cuz he he see all that stuff. But yeah, he did his thing. He said Lamar somehow steps out of a sack and takes off. Nice to see him not so beat up like last year. Oh my goodness, that's such a great point. And I know Lamar had said it leading up into week one that he was 100% healthy now, but man, thank you for bringing that up cuz last year was yikes. He said, "Man, I don't have any questions. Uh, just celebrations. Patiently waiting for your next video to come out." I appreciate that. But he also said, "We need to talk about this. Did you ever expect to see a Ravens offense of recent years with 10 different targeted receivers? The ball spread was wonderful to see." Oh, I ain't realized that, man. We really had 10 different targeted receivers. That's crazy, man. But that shows a lot of progress. Wow. Next question came from my guy Javon. So, y'all coming with some a lot of emotion right now, which I appreciate. He said, "What's up, Ing? Hope all is well uh with you and the family, brother." Let me just start by saying, "What a game on Sunday. We look like a well coached, organized team." O, that's some words right there. A well coached. You could have just said well coached team and that would have been powerful enough, but he said well coached, organized team. That speaks volumes. Anyway, continuing. He said, "Offensive line, which most of us feared, played decent. Uh, the one player that was killing me on offense was none other than Ronnie Stanley." Oh, see, that seems to be a common theme around here. Anyway, he said, "Between penalties and the play when Lamar had the strip sack, I started to think 77 was back but playing tackle." I say that because if you look at Ronnie Stanley on that play, you would think he got distracted by by a butterfly. But the lion will jail soon. It's their first true live action. Wow. The man say Ronnie got distracted by a butterfly. Uh anyway, he said the defense looked great. They gave us some plays but made more. My question to you, from what you've seen, could we see a repeat of the 2019 or 2024 team? No, I I don't I don't want that. I don't want a repeat of either one of those two teams because they both fell way short. So, no. Oh, but then he said, "But this time holding that hardware come February." Okay. Well, that's a little different. But no, not a repeat of those two teams. a brand new 20216. But yeah, like you said, holding that hardware on February 14th, on the night of February 14th, he said, "Peace to all. I wish you all love and success on this journey we call life and go flock." That's some real stuff right there, Javon. I appreciate that cuz like we talked about in the video yesterday. Everybody just trying to make it. Everybody just trying to make it. That's That's one thing that literally every single person got in common. We all just trying to make it. We all got different ways of trying to make it, but we all trying. So, it's important that we hear stuff like this. We just be there for each other and just show love and support to each other. So, I appreciate you doing just that, my friend. Next question came from my guy Mike. He said, "Ain't Raven Mike again, man. I was watching this Ravens game and D wasn't playing with them Colts. He got three touchdowns on him. Uh, it had me having flashbacks of a old defense uh in Baltimore Bully Ball. It was a great game. Just happy Jesse Mint got his first win. But I hope Zay Flowers, Maron Humphrey, and Jacob Lane will be all right." I think with Maron Humphrey, his injury, because he he he's been doing this for years now. If you've been watching the Ravens and you've been watching Marlon Humphrey specifically, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. Marlon Humphrey will get hurt and I put little quotations up, but he'll get hurt and he'll do the same thing. He'll sit on the floor, have his legs stretched out, and be kind of going back and forth like that. Um, and he'll be sitting there for a little while, then he'll get up, head to the sideline. Usually the very next drive, you see number 44 right back out there. Now, I think in this pass against the Colts, I think he just wanted an extra timeout. I think he wanted to take a timeout for the team, but didn't want to use a timeout, but he wanted a timeout. Seemed like he wanted a little break, but I don't want to be giving away all the secrets. Anyway, uh he continued to say, "Uh, we we got three injuries already. If so, I hope they won't be out for long." Well, TJ Tampa is the the real one, though. Humphrey, I think he's straight, but TJ Tampa, that's they say he could be out for a little while. Uh he said, "Also like Tyler Loop game. Uh I'm he made all of his field goals." Yes, he certainly did. So, shout out to Loop. He said to me that was shocking but all in all we played a good football game minus the penalties. Uh well good talking about our game one one love fam. Hey appreciate that Mike. Thank you very very very much. The quiet hero. Next question came from my guy Melo. He said what's up? I made it to the game from Japan and let me tell you it was well worth the trip. I'm glad you got to go because there is nothing like we could watch it on TV and it's fun. It's exciting. We love it. It's hype. But actually being there in person is just different, man. So if you ever anybody, this goes to any if you ever get an opportunity to go to a Ravens game, go watch them. And if you not a Ravens fan and you watching this, if you ever get an opportunity to go to you to a Ravens game, even if you're not a Ravens fan, go to one. But if you ever get an opportunity to go see your favorite team play, even just NFL game in general, go. If it's preseason, regular season play, whatever, go if you get an opportunity to. Anyway, he said the game looked good and Colts fans got quiet real quick. I know the big three will get a lot of praise from this game as they rightfully should, but did you see Chris Moore? Oh yeah, we saw Chris Moore. We certainly did. 53 yard catch, him doing a bunch of blocking downfield and the kick returns as well. So he was making his impact felt. He with the way that the season started, he got to get at least two for touchdowns. At least two kick returns for touchdowns. At least two. Anyway, continuing. He said, "This is my game's unsung hero." Uh, from returns on special teams to receiving to blocking, this guy did everything a veteran uh number whatever receiver he is can do when given a chance and he capitalized. When you go back and watch the film, he is in there a lot once Jacobe Lane and Zay went out. Things like this are small signs to a great team. What are your thoughts? And he said, I'm on my way back to Japan. You're right. You're right. You You are spot on. Everything that you said is factual facts. All of it is um the fact that and I keep going back to this because when we signed him I was like for what what's what's the point? Like why are we bringing Chris Moore back? But we we saw it and the fact that he he was a practice squad call up. Yeah, he's a veteran, but he was a practice squad call up. So that means all these other guys are ahead of him on the roster. But the Ravens coaching staff said, "No, Chris Moore, he needs some opportunities out there. He needs to be out there. We lost Z Flowers. We lost Jacobe Lane. Chris Moore, you got some experience. Oh yeah, you up. Let's get it. Show us what you got." And he showed the Ravens what he had in a bunch of different ways. So, I can't even say he was a quiet hero, though, cuz he made a whole lot of noise against the Colts. Next question came from my guy Eman. He said, "I hope you and your family are doing well. I got three questions for you. Number one, despite the win, we keep on having the same problem, penalties. We almost had 100 yards worth of penalties uh against us. Do you think that's too harsh on them because it's the first game or do you think it's completely justified? Well, it got to get cleaned up. It is the first game, but there's still high expectations, so the penalties, they got to be fixed regardless. He said, number two, the defense. The biggest problem I had with them is they kept on letting the Colts get whatever they wanted on the ground. Other than that, I think the defense did great. Yeah. Again, that's Jonathan Taylor, too. So, with one of the best running backs in the league, uh, one of the better offensive lines in the league, um, they did do their thing. He had like 98 or 99 yards on the ground, and he looked good. But the Ravens did take, not necessarily take him out, but they did enough early on to where he wasn't a huge factor. Um, but he started getting his not necessarily chunk play, but he started getting a lot of his yards a little bit later in the really throughout the game, but a little bit later to where it not necessarily hurt them more than helped them, but it almost did because he was getting nice chunks on the ground, but it was eating and burning that clock. Uh, and Ravens had a significant enough lead to where Colts just had to be like, you know what, Jonathan Taylor, we can't run you no more like that. Anyway, continuing. Uh he said number three, I don't really have too much of a problem with the offense outside of those penalties. They were munching up and down the field. If they fix those penalties, I think that offense could be a lot more dangerous. Yeah, that's true. Because they they were they were moving that ball consistently. They look good on offense. And again, this is a brand new offense, a brand new coaching staff, so they they look good. They look comfortable in offense. But yeah, the penalties just kept bringing them back. It'd be third and short. It'd be third and five. It'd be third and six. They would convert, but then they would get a penalty. So, it would have to come back. So, that made everything that much harder. So, clean up the penalties and Ravens will be good to go. I really, really hoped y'all enjoyed this video. I appreciate every single question.
