The Prophetic Blueprint: Guidance for Modern Living | Sidi Mohammad Alboni (Part 11)
Watch on YouTubeVideo summary
The preparations for the historic Battle of Badr highlighted the strategic foresight and unwavering commitment of the early Muslim community under Prophet Muhammad's leadership. Despite facing a Quraysh army of approximately one thousand fighters equipped with horses, the Muslims mobilized their own force of 313 companions, many of whom pledged to follow the Prophet even into the sea if necessary. Divine intervention played a crucial role in securing victory before the clash began, as Allah granted the believers sound sleep, firm ground through rain, and control over vital water resources while denying access to the enemy. The Prophet organized his troops with archers positioned in the rear and swordsmen at the front, demonstrating meticulous tactical planning that would define the engagement.
The intensity of the battle was marked by profound personal sacrifices and moments of deep spiritual connection between the leaders and their followers. A touching incident occurred when Sa'd ibn Mu'adh stepped out of formation; after gently correcting him with a miswak, the Prophet revealed his own stomach as penance for the slight, causing Sa'd to embrace him in remorse before he became one of the first martyrs. The fighting commenced with single combats where three Quraysh warriors challenged the Ansar, leading the Prophet to dispatch his relatives Ali, Hamza, and Ubada to face them. Tragically, Hamza was swiftly killed while asking if he had fulfilled his duty, prompting the Prophet to weep and bear witness to his fulfillment of obligation, illustrating the heavy emotional toll of war on the community.
The turning point of the conflict arrived with the death of Abu Jahl, who was slain by two young Ansari brothers motivated by their mother's instruction to avenge insults against the Prophet; both claimed credit for the kill, and the Prophet affirmed that both had indeed fulfilled their duty. Although the Prophet instructed his companions not to kill Abu Bakr due to his loyalty on the Day of al-Aqabah, Abu Bakr insisted on fighting, eventually killing a companion who attempted to flee, leading to a tragic chain of events where he was later killed by young Ansars seeking revenge for Meccan torture. Following the death of their leader, the Quraysh army fled, allowing the Muslims to secure a decisive victory that resulted in seventy polytheists killed and seventy taken captive, significantly elevating Medina's status among Arab tribes who respected strength.
The aftermath of the battle revealed both spiritual triumphs and divine support, as the Prophet addressed the mass grave of the fallen, calling out to leaders like Abu Jahl to ask if they found what their Lord promised true, explaining that the dead heard his voice just as Omar did. This victory not only demonstrated the power of faith but also brought 5,000 angels to aid the Muslims in capturing prisoners and striking down enemies, a fact confirmed by Quranic verses and historical narrations. The success of Badr transformed the status of Islam among the Arabs, leading many to inquire about the new faith, while the Prophet's humility during his supplications before the battle underscored the belief that if such a small group were destroyed, Allah would not be worshipped on earth. As the section concludes, plans are set to discuss the treatment of captives and events from the following year, bridging the gap between this monumental victory and future challenges.

Muhammad.
Alhamdulillah. Alhamdulillah. We meet
again uh to continue with our study of
the S the S of the best of the
creations, the S of the beloved
sallallahu alaihi wasallam. And last
week um we started talking about the
events uh that took place uh leading up
and eventually to the beginning uh of
the theatra
the greatest battle of Subhan Allah. And
we learned about all of the preparation,
all of the hard work that the beloved
sallallahu alaihi wasallam and the
companions in Medina did in a
preparation that led them to be ready uh
physically and spiritually and and
mentally to be ready for that u new
path, new chapter of the Muslim when
they are now uh defending themselves and
they are now fighting back.
Alhamdulillah.
And some of that the preparation that
went into uh the the the second year uh
of of the hijra um that we talked about
last week is the census where the
beloved sallallahu alaihi wasallam
ordered uh the the counting of the
Muslims in in in Medina and and of those
who are present there who is able to
bear arms and who is ready if something
to happen who is ready to join and then
the creation of the reconnaissance unit
that unit uh that is now would go and
scout different places, different path,
different routes and they would gather
information and they would bring that
information u to the to the to the
beloved sallallahu alaihi wasallam to
the commander and chief and the last u
kind of preparation that we mentioned is
the the expeditions where the beloved
sallallahu alaihi wasallam will send
these smaller groups of companions on on
different to go on armed to go on
different route on different paths.
not seeking combat uh but just showing
force and showing that the Muslims now
they are growing in in strength and
growing in force and also to prepare um
and train the companions to train them
for endurance for patience for just
getting to to to get some of that type
of a skill. Subhan Allah. And then we
saw the events leading up to the battle
leading up to the battle of Bedr where
the Muslim army they set out initially
to intercept the caravan of Abu Safyan
returning from Sham. And then how Abu
Sufyan when he learned about the the
Muslims coming to intercept the caravan.
He sent a messenger in the name of
who went to get reinforcements to get
help from Quraysh. and that um Abu Jahal
when he is learning about the Muslims
coming out he was just furious and he
started to mobilize forces and he
gathered all of the people that he can
gather and the the Quri army that was
about to set out. Meanwhile um Abu
Sufyan he managed to take an to change
the route of the caravan take it away
from the path uh of the Muslim and
secure it basically. So the Muslims
coming out of the Medina, they can no
longer reach that caravan and he sent
another messenger uh to to to Mecca to
Quraysh saying that the caravan is safe.
There is no need for you to to to
continue go back. But Abu Jah and his
arrogance is insisting that um we would
go and we will eliminate the Muslims.
This an opportunity we would go and and
and really uh put down uh the the
Muslims and kill the Muslims. Subhan
Allah. And now there is these two
groups, these two parties, these two um
armies, the army of Abu Jah, the army of
with about 1,000 um armed fighter
fighters fully equipped with with with
gear and with 200 horses and sallallahu
alaihi wasallam with 313 companions and
only two horses and subhan Allah they
were they were set out of Medina
initially to intercept the caravan. So
they they did not really have that full
full kind of uh uh gather all of the
troops, gather all whoever was ready
joined at that time. And subhan Allah
the beloved sallallahu alaihi wasallam
would not really force the companions to
go into war to go into battle to to go
into fighting. So he would say what we
will often hear quite often in his
journey.
Advise me oh people and subhan Allah we
saw the great companions that and their
reactions that put a smile on his face
on his blessed face sallallahu alaihi
wasallam we're showing like really
exemplary
support to him and we heard about
saying to him oh messenger of Allah by
Allah we will not say to you what the
Israelites have said to to Moses go and
your lord and and fight and we will
remain here sitting rather we would say
go and your lord and fight we will be
fighting alongside of you. Subhan Allah.
And then and how that brought sm smile
to s to Muhammad sallallahu alaihi
wasallam. And we were hearing about
saying proceed, oh messenger of Allah.
We have blessed to to to hear you and to
obey you and to follow you in
everything. This is the bledge of that
that the made with him sallallahu alaihi
wasallam. By Allah, if you would take us
through the sea, we will walk into it.
Not a single man will will will fall
behind. Cut ties with whomever you wish.
Make alliances with whomever you wish.
Fight whomever you wish. We will stand
firm in battle. Subhan Allah. Unwavering
when facing the enemy. Look at the and
look how much they had love to the
beloved sallallahu alaihi wasallam and
really had unwavering really support to
him sallallahu alaihi wasallam and to
the Muslims. And he would conclude his
his statement saying perhaps Allah will
show you from us what will bring joy to
your heart. Like look at their
priorities. Subhan Allah. The priority
is they want to please Allah subhana
tala. They want to please his beloved
sallallahu alaihi wasallam. That that's
their goal. That's what they wanted to
achieve. They wanted to make something
that they would feel brought of that I
brought joy to the heart of the
messenger sallallahu alaihi wasallam.
really true role models. These are the
people that we need to take as role
models for our youth, for our children.
We need to put their names on on on
walls and and read their stories and
really live their lives and understand
their lives and and follow on their
footsteps.
And subhan Allah, we saw after all of
that support, all of that great
statements from the believers, Allah
provided the openings, subhana wa
ta'ala, that he provided the companions
with slumber. the night of of the the
battle, they had the best sleep that
they could ever had that night before
going to war. And then Allah supported
them with rain that purified them and
made the land firm underneath their
their feets. and subhan Allah inspiring
with coming with that really winning
strategy that amazing strategy that they
will will control the water resources
and they will will
shut down or or or like bury all of the
other wells outside of that area. So the
the army of Quraysh would not have water
to drink except for that one well that
is protected by the Muslims that is
behind the Muslims. And we hear we heard
towards the end how the the the Quri
army when they arrived subhan Allah that
that exactly what happened to them and
they were in really
shocked by that they don't really have
even access to water. So how much that
brought uh to their morale taking their
morale low and then we heard about the
strategy of the beloved sallallahu
alaihi wasallam what his fighting
strategy that he would organize the
ranks of the companions into two rows.
He instructed the back row those are the
the archery those are the ones who would
throw arrows and then the the front row
is for swordmen. So basically the
strategy that those in the front they
would crouch and then those in the back
they will unleash a lot of arrows which
will really put a lot of chaos into the
the Quri army as the battle is starting
[snorts] and this strategy required
really
precise required a lot of precision in
the alignment. they would need to be
lined up really really well. And this is
where we stopped last week. We were
starting to say that the amazing story
of
that happened to him when the the
prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam the
beloved was lining up uh the the
companions. So that story that Sna Sawad
when the beloved sallallahu alaihi
wasallam he was commanding them to sit
in that row in that formation and Saad
stepped slightly forward. So the beloved
sallallahu alaihi wasallam he approached
him and he said align yourself oh Sawad.
So Sawad complied returned to his
position but soon after he would step
forward again. And the beloved
sallallahu alaihi wasallam repeated that
command. and he saw him and he say align
yourself or sawad and then sawad soon
after he stepped the third time. Subhan
Allah. This is a very serious moment.
The Muslims are about to go into the
first the very first fighting uh w with
the non-believers. This is a very
serious moment. So the beloved
sallallahu alaihi wasallam now firmly
correcting him understanding that
seriousness of that situation. So he
would take a miswak and he would lightly
lightly like book
sah sawad with it and say align
yourself. O sawad. Subhan Allah. Look at
the gentleness of s Muhammad sallallahu
alaihi wasallam. Even in such a very
serious moment this is how he
reprimanded or he he was teaching them
or giving them the adab with the siwak.
Subhan Allah. Look at the way we we
teach our children or we reprimand our
own children like we ask for Allah's
forgiveness and that we follow the ways
of the the way of the messenger
sallallahu alaihi wasallam.
Then what did say in return? He said,
"Oh, you have hurt me, oh messenger of
Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam."
Subhan Allah. Look at how much love, how
much leniency the companions enjoyed
from the beloved sallallahu alaihi
wasallam. He's the commander-in-chief
and we are about to go into battle and
now you're saying, "Oh, I'm hurt. You
poked me. I'm hurt." Subhan Allah. And
what's the the the response of the
beloved sallallahu alaihi wasallam? He
uncovered his blessed stomach, his
blessed belly and he said, "Take your
reputation, oh Sawad." So Abu Saw seeing
that great opportunity, he bent down and
he embraced the beloved sallallahu
alaihi wasallam. He hugged him and he
start to kiss him from his stomach. And
the beloved sallallahu alaihi wasallam
asked him what made you do this oh sawad
and sawad replied sawad said oh
messenger of Allah I feel that today is
a day of martyrdom
and I just wanted the last thing that I
ever experienced in this world the last
thing that I want to have that
experience that would remain with me
when I leave this world is that my skin
will touch yours
Subhan Allah. Subhan Allah. And indeed,
he was one of the first martyrs of the
battle. Subhan Allah. I was just sitting
and reflecting on this like the battle
is about to start. This it would like
how would it even be possible for Satan
Saw to get in touch and touch the skin
of Satan Muhammad sallallahu alaihi
wasallam. Like think logically. This is
not the right time. This is not the
right place. It's not the right moment.
But then Allah made it that Muhammad
sallallahu alaihi wasallam would poke
him with the siwak and then and
will get what he wanted what he desired.
Like what made all of this happen? Only
Allah knows. I truly feel and believe
this is the sincerity of Sawad that he
was so sincere in his love to the
beloved sallallahu alaihi wasallam and
he asked Allah that he wanted that to
happen to him and out of that sincerity
Allah allowed it Allah allowed it
allowed saw to be as close as the
beloved sallallahu alaihi wasallam to be
touching his skin. Allah is the most
generous. Inshallah Allah will not let
us down. Allah we ask Allah to fulfill
our desires and in in this war before
the hereafter we need to have that
sincerity in our relationship to the
beloved sallallahu alaihi wasallam we
just don't say it with words we say it
and we believe it and have the full
certainty in the heart that we love you
messenger of Allah we want to be with
you we want to see you we want to just
follow you we we just want to live
away a life that bring joy to you and
bring smile to your face sallallahu
alaihi wasallam
>> [sighs]
>> So now again looking at the other group,
one group who is getting their desires
fulfilled, getting the best night of
sleep that they could ever had, being
really fresh and ready for battle and
the other group with their low morale
and just desperate and and Abu Jah now
is sensing despair in their faces. they
have especially there's no water and
they were tired from that journey from
from Mecca to Medina to or to the place
of of the battle in better. So now he
tried to rally the troops up. He tried
to raise their spirits and he was
attempting even to give legitimacy to to
to their war to their um goal and to
their um um initiative. So Abu Jal he
started to pray like Subhan Allah this
is this is amazing like Abu Jal the
leader of of the the politist the
leaders of the disbelievers is making
dua yes Abuj he raised his hand and he
called on Allah and he said oh Allah
Allah oh Allah subhah Abuj like look at
the look at the tawa look at the party
now Abujal is making dua subhan Allah
and he says oh Allah whomever among us
is upon falsehood. Destroy them this
morning. Subhan Allah. Imagine Abu Jal
is calling upon Allahh and asking and
making dua. And this is an like how we
would know even about this. This is an
authentic hadith. This is an authentic
narration that is narrated by some of
the people from Quraysh who witnessed
that incident and they become Muslim
much later and they conveyed that to the
beloved sallallahu alaihi wasallam. So
we know that with full certainty. This
is all authentic hadith. And then Allah
provided the response in the Quran. We
read about the response of the dua of
Abu Jah in the Quran when Allahh says
Subhan Allah. Like whom Subhan Allah
like Allah if if you are asking for
judgment Allah's judgment will come to
you and and your forces will not avail
you. They will not save you. They will
not do you any good. No matter how
numerous, no matter how much advancement
of weapons they have, no matter how much
numbers they have, when the judgment of
Allah comes, the judgment of Allah will
come and it will come swift.
Alhamdulillah. So this verse, it was
directed towards the the disbelievers
and Abu Jah in in in that time.
Meanwhile, Sah Muhammad sallallahu
alaihi wasallam entered his tent
before the battle. Subhan Allah. So
before the battle commenced, Sah
Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam
entered his tent and he started to
supplicate.
All of that preparation,
all of that planning, all of that hard
work. Now the beloved sallallahu alaihi
wasallam would rely fully on Allah
subhana tala. This is the state of the
believer. We take with all of the means.
We do all of our best and then we as if
we have done nothing we go to Allahha
with full humility and we ask for dua we
ask for victory from Allah. So s
Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam he
raised his hands high and he was
bleeding and we learn from if we learn
from succ
oh oh Allah accomplish for me what you
have promised to me. Oh Allah bring
about what you have promised me. Oh
Allah, if this small band of the Muslims
is destroyed, you will not be worshiped
on this earth. Subhan Allah. He would
raise his hands so high and he was like
full humility with his head down and
making that dua. Even his his like
placed claw clock would fall.
Subhan Allah. We learn like we know
he is our role model. How are we making
our dua? Look at the adab. Look at the
etiquette of making dua. Subhan Allah.
We see this every prayer, every when the
Imam now is making dua, they are making
the announcements and they making the
dua. Some people they are not even
raising their hands. Some people they
are just putting their hands on their on
their legs on their just casually
making that dua. Subhan Allah. Have that
with Allah. Make the effort at least if
you can't really have it very high and
have that full humility at least raise
your hand a bit just take the effort
this is a great adab that we learned
from the beloved sallallahu alaihi
wasallam
and if you have that full humility
inshallah have the certainty that Allah
will answer those duas like we should
have really that that respect towards
Allahh not just have that kind of a
different condition and making the dua
and now we are saying why Allah is not
accepting my dua what effort did you put
in your dua in in the first place.
Subhan Allah.
So now fighting would commence. So but
before the masses enga engage and the
the the battle is full full on there was
this known tradition in Arabia there
before any full battle to happen there
will be single combat. So there will be
uh individual people who would go out
just to show force to show of bravery
and they will call out of people from
the other army for that kind of a single
combat. So three men from the army of
Abu Jahal from the army of they stepped
forward. the three people of the name of
those are two brothers and
the son of sobba and his son and his
brother Shabba the three from the same
uh family they stood forward and they
came forward and they started shouting
with all of their voices
Mubares is there any challenger
so immediately that same moment three
men from the Ansar they leap forward you
would Like why the Ansar? The Ansar have
not been tested yet. The Ansar they they
have they were eager to prove their
commitment to the Muslims and their
commitment to the beloved sallallahu
alaihi wasallam. They are building
within themselves this growing hatred
toward the disbelievers. They live this
first and second year after the Hijra
just hearing about the atrocities and
and the crimes and the torture and the
and really the bad treatment that the
Quri people were treating the Muslims in
Mecca. So we're growing in hatred. They
would say like is this really what did
to you? Oh, is this really what what did
to you a messenger of Allah? They just
needed that chance. So as the moment
came for them to prove themselves in
single combat, they just rushed to
respond.
But one would question like those three
people from Quraysh and now the three
men from the Ansar like would they
really know them? Like of course not.
They probably have not seen them before
in their in their life. So because they
are from a different tribe, from a
different city. So as soon as they saw
them, they did not really recognize
them. So they told them like you're
noble, you're brave, we acknowledge your
bravery, but we want our people. These
are like and
they are saying this like we want the
Qurayshi Muslims, we want our own people
to come forward. So just go and send us
send us someone in instead from Quraysh.
So the returned and they informed the
messenger sallallahu alaihi wasallam
that they need men from
and subhan Allah at this moment we see
the response of the beloved sallallahu
alaihi wasallam. He would not say well
let me save or spare my cousins or my
family or my relative. Let me not
sacrifice my family. I'm going to send
someone else. No, no, no. He would just
say stand up Ali. Stand up Hamza. Stand
up.
are the three three relatives to him. So
his cousin sallallahu alaihi wasallam
and
Abdut and
Abdut the three men from Benu Hashim
they stepped forward and they answered
that challenge and answered the call of
the beloved sallallahu alaihi wasallam.
So Hamsa Hamza faced and Ali faced and
stood before.
So fighting be begun and as it's
narrated within few minutes it was just
very swift and they were killed and as
for
and the fight was more evenly matched.
So they were fighting and fighting and
fighting and and eventually each one of
them dealts really a killing wound to
the other and say fell as one of the
martyrs of that battle. So snams and sni
they they finished off his opponent and
they carried and brought it back
sallallahu alaihi wasallam and he was on
the brink of death. He was like blood
was just going out of out of him and he
was brought to the prophet sallallahu
alaihi wasallam drenched in his own
blood and they placed him on the ground
and the prophet sallallahu alaihi
wasallam immediately said no no no place
him on my lab su alaihi wasallam.
And now subhan Allah is is is bleeding
and and in and he's facing and seeing
the face of the beloved sallallahu
alaihi wasallam now is is in his love
and and he looks and and he is in his
final moments what came out of his mouth
is a question to the beloved sallallahu
alaihi wasallam. You say do you think I
have fulfilled my duty? Oh messenger of
Allah.
Subhan Allah. Subhan Allah. Look at
their state of mind. He felt as if
because the battle like he was killed or
he was struck down before the battle
even begun. So have he done enough. So
running of Allah do do you see that I
have fulfilled my duty and say Muhammad
sallallahu alaihi wasallam he would
start to weep and and and tears would
flow from his eyes from and and and
filling his blessed beard and and and he
would become really like just tearing up
and and he would say three times, "Oh
Allah, I I witness that Kharat has
fulfilled his duty. Oh Allah, I I
witness that Khar has fulfilled his
duty. Oh Allah, I bear witness that has
fulfilled his duty. Subhan Allah. Subhan
Allah. Just reflect on on on on that
relationship that Satan Muhammad
sallallahu alaihi wasallam had to the
Muslims. He to them like the father to
to to his children. He cared for them
and he looked for every chance to to
save all of humanity and to bring all of
humanity and and and save them from from
from disbelieving and and from the the
the the the
punishment that they will have in the
hereafter sallallahu alaihi wasallam.
And on the other hand, how much care the
the the believers how much love the
believers had to him sallallahu alaihi
wasallam like
he died before seeing any of the
victories. He didn't know what happened
to the Muslims after that moment after
that battle. He didn't say they didn't
see Islam reaching America. This is all
through their effort. These are these
are the great people that fought and and
and and really lost their sacrificed
everything even their lives for just to
raise the word ofah.
We should really feel we should really
feel the the and and think about their
sacrifices and and try to learn these
names and and put these names in our
hearts and learn about their stories.
Subhan Allah. So then fighting commence
and now it's full battle is full like
everyone is is is is fighting and
he will take a handful of pebbles and or
sand and he will pass it to Suhammad
sallallahu alaihi wasallam who would
throw them at and said that not a single
man from Quraysh remain except that some
of that sand some of that dust entered
his eyes subhan Allah from that bliss
and and forceful throw of the beloved
sallallahu alaihi wasallam and we see
the words of Allah revealing in the
Quran in
you did not throw when you throw it's
Allah who threw subhan Allah [sighs]
and the fighting sorry to to to to
really intensify and rage on and we will
we'll go through some narrations from
from this great battle of Pedr uh but
just one note before we go in more
detail that um it's hard to put these
some of these narrations in sequence in
time because like different fightings
different Muslims happening in different
places of this battlefield and they are
reporting them back after the battle has
finished to the beloved sallallahu
alaihi wasallam. So in terms of
sequencing, it's not obvious what
happened first for some of these events.
But we know that Abu Jahal he was killed
early on. How would we know and who
narrates this hadith?
He narrates the story of the of the
death of Abu Jahal. He said that the
beloved sallallahu alaihi wasallam has
placed him in command of the right
section of the army, the right wing. And
as troops they were starting to line up
Abd Rahman he wanted to assess the
strength of the people the strength of
the group that is he's being the leader
of he's being in charge of and he would
look to to to his right and his left and
he would look to his right and he will
see a young boy he's only 16 years old
and he would look at his left side and
he would see his younger brother subhan
Allah he was slightly younger in age
like one might ask did the beloved
sallallahu alaihi wasallam did the
messenger of Allah allowed children to
fight? No. But those two brothers, they
had a they were personally tested by the
beloved sallallahu alaihi wasallam. They
showed their strength to him and they
even had a duel in front of him and and
he found that they are capable fighters.
So he allowed them to join. But yet
he's now like seeing these two very very
young Muslims on his right side and his
left side like he thought like like
maybe to himself he say I I I wish I
have more capable fighters. He might say
to himself like these are two very young
men. Maybe the right wing might not do
well in battle. But moment after one of
the boys, he would reach out to him and
he would tug his garment and say,
"Uncle, uncle, where is Abu Jah?" And
Abdman now, he would like he's amazed.
He's just looking at him and and he said
like, "What do you want with Abuja?"
Like basically like go find someone of
your size because Abu Jal is is a big
big furious fighter. He's like fully
armed head to toe and like he is even
not by himself. He is surrounded by
people who are protecting him. And that
boy like responding to Abdman and saying
well uncle my mother told me do not
return home until you have killed Abu
Jah.
Subhan Allah. Subhan Allah. He they will
tell him like we have heard that he used
to insult the messenger of Allah. Subhan
Allah. Like how dare you insult the
messenger of Allah. Like subhan Allah
look at the teaching of the mother. You
you do not return home until you have
killed Abujah and subhan Allah they will
say we cannot really tolerate that he
have insulted the messenger of Allah
sallallahu alaihi wasallam. So they
swear they said by Allah I will not let
we will not let our shadows part away.
We either kill him or he will kill us.
Subhan Allah. Look at their love. Look
at their immense love of the beloved
sallallahu alaihi wasallam. And the
response of Abdman, he was really
impressed by by them and impressed by
their bravery. And Subhan Allah like as
soon as fighting begun, he just pointed
to them and said, "This is Abu Jah." And
the the the two young Ansar they just
they they they just shoot off and they
start like going and and breaking
through the ranks and and breaking
through the troops that were protecting
Abu Jah. And they reached to Abu Jah and
they start striking him on his leg until
he fell from his horse and they start
like striking him and striking him and
then they they were confident that that
they have done accomplished their
mission. So they rushed toward the
beloved sallallahu alaihi wasallam eager
to bring him that news eager to bring
joy to him sallallahu alaihi wasallam.
But Abu Jahal the son of Abu Jahal he
was able to reach one of them and hit
him hard that even his they would
narrate that it cut off his entire hand
that did not stop him. He did not want
his other brother to reach the beloved
sallallahu alaihi wasallam before him.
So he did not even pay attention to his
wound his severe wound and he was
rushing with his his brother and they
both reached the beloved sallallahu
alaihi wasallam and you say we killed
Abu Jah we killed Abu Jah. Muhammad
sallallahu alaihi wasallam. He said,
"Who among you killed him?" And each one
of them said, "I did. I did, oh
messenger of Allah." And he said, "Show
me your swords." And they presented
their swords. And both of them they had
stains of blood on their swords. So
Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam will
say, "Both of you have killed him."
Subhan Allah. And we hear other stories
uh that
narrates.
They said the fighting was so intense
that we will take shield. We will take
refuge in the beloved sallallahu alaihi
wasallam. He was the closest among the
Muslims to the enemy. He would say
he was the strongest among us sallallahu
alaihi wasallam.
In other narrations they talk about
and how brave he was. He marked himself
with a feather. So he is like recognized
in in the army and he would just strike
down the the the disbelievers. He would
go from from one way to the other end
and and and striking them left and
right. This is
and we hear stories of
subhan Allah. He was eating some dates
before the battle has full raged on
before it's commence and before it
started. He was just eating some dates
just strengthening himself before
joining the battle. And then S Muhammad
sallallahu alaihi wasallam he was again
encouraging the believers and he would
say to them rise to paradise as vast as
the heavens and the earth. And Smay he
asked oh messenger of Allah a paradise
as vast as the heavens and the earth.
Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam
replied and said yes. Then he had those
small days in his hand said and there's
nothing between me and paradise is just
and just martyrdom and these days and
the beloved sallallahu alaihi wasallam
said yes. So say no he was like
questioning himself like this is indeed
a long life as if I would wear I would
want to live until I want to finish
these dates. So he threw away these
dates and and he rushed into battle. And
he was fighting, fighting, fighting and
he until he was mart martyed.
Subhan Allah. Subhan Allah. Just wanting
to please Allahh. Just wanting to to
please the beloved sallallahu alaihi
wasallam and wanted to be truly
victorious. This is the victory that
that that mattered to to be permitted
into into Jenna.
And subhan Allah, we hear other stories,
other narrations among the Quri army.
There were such people that they were
ordered not to be killed. The messenger
of Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam
ordered the Muslims not to touch those
people, not to kill them. One of them is
in the name of Abu Baktam.
We mentioned his name. I hope some
people who are revisiting the S they
remember Abu Baktam and what he did. He
basically played a really critical role
in ending the siege of Manu Hashab in in
the valley of Abu Talib. So before the
battle Muhammad sallallahu alaihi
wasallam instructed the companions that
if you see Abu Bakr do not kill him. So
the companions asked why oh messenger of
Allah and he replied out of loyalty for
what he did to us on the day of the
document. Subhan Allah. Subhan Allah. We
really learned the loyalty from the
beloved sallallahu alaihi wasallam. And
during battle Abu like Abu Bakti he was
like could not really understand what is
happening. It's like two magnets of of
the of the same type. Like you push one
magnet, the other magnet would run away.
So he would like rush towards the
Muslims. He want to fight them and they
will just spread out and they would run
away from him. And he was like really
enraged. He wanted to show his bravery.
He thought that like like what is wrong
with me that they are not not attacking
me? Is it maybe I'm not brave enough or
like I don't know what went into his
mind but he kept rushing and trying to
uh follow them until he would follow one
of the companions and the companion is
is running away from him. They would
even go outside of the battlefield of
Bedr and eventually Abu Bakr he managed
to surround that companion between
rocks. He chopped him between box and
his immediate like his first thing that
he he wanted to do is just ask like why
are you not fighting me? So that
companion
says out of loyalty for what you have
did for the day of of of the document
the messenger of Allah sallallahu alaihi
wasallam commanded us not to fight you
and not to kill you but he insisted on
fighting and he tried to go and he said
what if I fight you then the companion
said I will just flee from you. I'll do
my absolute best to flee from you. And
then he attempted to kill him and he'd
start like trying to strike him down and
the companions had no choice but to
fight back and he ended up killing Abu
Hisham uh Abu Baktam
but then that brought sadness to the
heart of the companion now he's feeling
that he have disobeyed the message of
Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam by
killing him so he rushed toward the
belie toward the Muslim toward the
suhammed sallallahu alaihi wasallam in
tears and s Muhammad sallallahu alaihi
wasallam will cond him and will will say
to him like do not worry we have
intended loyalty like we will will go
out of our way just to be loyal but
there are situations where we it's
really out of your hand
subhah so after the the death of Abu Jah
after Abu Jahal was killed really terror
overtookh the the whole Quresh army and
they began to flee and they say in in
some narration that the whole battle did
not really last long it's only just a
few hours so when it was nearing the end
Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam will
turn to Abu Bakr.
He will say, "Rejoice, oh Abu Bakr. This
is Jirel."
Subhan Allah. Jirel has arrived with
5,000 angels. Subhan Allah. They are
marked and they are ready for battle.
Subhan Allah. We read in the Quran,
Allah is saying,
Subhan Allah. Allah sent them just as a
good news, as a reassurance for their
hearts. Why did Allah send 5,000 angels?
Like it would have been sufficient that
Snabil alone defeat the whole army. Like
how would we know that? Because sad in a
different occasion in a different time
using only the tip of one of his 600
wings he just with one tip of wing he
once lifted the entire city of loot the
entire city of flot like you are
flipping like you are taking a slice of
pizza and and flipped [clears throat] it
upside down with only the tip of one
wing. So soil
single-handedly could have defeated the
entire army of Quraysh. So why why
thousand angels? We learned that later
on would would would ask the beloved
sallallahu alaihi wasallam and he will
ask him oh Muhammad how do you regard
the people of Badr among you and s
Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam will
respond they are the best among us and
sabre say and we regard the angels of
Bedr as the best among us. Subhan Allah.
This is an honor from Allah. Allah is
honoring the angels in them joining
ranks with the Muslims on the day of of
of better that Allah describes in the
Quran this day is the day of distinction
a day that Allah separated truth from
falsehood
subhan Allah and the army as they began
to flee naturally some of them they were
really afraid to be killed so some of
them they started to surrender they
throw away their their arms and they're
starting just thought to be taking us
captives and among of these people one
of them is
he talked about last week and how he was
forced to join by Abujal he did not want
to join he knew that he was taken to his
death because he was promised by that
the Muslims will be killing him so he
had this target on his back so he was
desperate and he was searching for
anyone just to take him as a prisoner as
a captive so he would run Abdman and he
he requested him to be captured So sad
Abdman he took him up he tied him up and
took him as prisoner. But soon lateral
now seesah
tied up as a captive and and he said
I will not survive if he survives and he
would run towards him intending to kill
him. And Abdman now he like rushed and
stepped between Snal and Umea blocking
and because for the Arabs the captives
they there was like a known rule they
were protected by the capttor there.
They are not allowed to be touched. So
Sah Abdman will say I have I would not I
will not let you raise hand over him. I
have given him my word and s respond to
him I will not have your word today. I
will not have you bled today. I'm going
to kill him. Subhan Allah. and and he
couldn't really overcome him. He
couldn't overcome.
So eventually what he did he do he saw a
group of young men from the and again
think of the and think of what's going
through their mind. He went to them and
he said do you remember that person that
I mentioned to you named and what he did
to me and how he tortured me um in the
days of Mecca. So they said of course we
remember we heard those stories over and
over again and he pointed to him and
said that's him. So [laughter]
the youth those youth they rushed
towards Abdman and to surrounding him
and wanting to to kill. So Abdman seeing
all of this happening he tried to
protect uh with all he could. So he
threw him to the ground and he laid
completely on top of him trying to
protect him. Subhan Allah. But he
couldn't really manage these young boys,
these young men, these young fighters,
they start like striking um from
underneath
Abdman. And that's how died in that
really weak weak weak moment after he
had that kind of arrogance and feeling
that he is in control and he will
torture people to death making them
leave their faith and that's his ending.
Subhan Allah.
We hear more stories and try inshallah
I'll try to wrap it up soon. We know
time is coming. So we hear more stories
now about the angels and how the angels
aided the Muslims. So in one narration
um the the there was this uh frails man
of a small build. He was not really of a
massive build was seen dragging behind
him.
Abbas obviously said that Abbas he was
not Muslim at the time he was on the
other side but Abbas he he's a large
powerful man like everyone was looked at
them and and they were like amazed how
this small person small figure is
leading behind him this massive mighty
Abbas through the battlefield. So the
beloved sallallahu alaihi wasallam even
seeing this he smiled and he asked the
companion like who who is this obviously
he know him and the man said he was like
very very proud this is my prisoner I
have captured him oh messenger of Allah
and then Abbas objected he said oh
Muhammad by Allah this is not the man
that captured me I I was seized by a
tall man riding a white horse so
Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam turn
to theari
cons like trying to to put him at ease
and say, "An angel assisted you in in
capturing him, in seizing him." Subhan
Allah.
And subhan Allah, we learn another story
of another uh companion that that says,
"When when they were rushing, I was
really pursu pursuing a fleeing
disbeliever and suddenly I was like
rushing behind him trying to catch up to
him. Suddenly I see his head fall from
his shoulders and his head just rolling
to the ground." So this companion like
was really shocked. He look at his
sword. His sword did not really touch
that person and looked around. there's
no one around and he would say what he
would narrate this to the beloved
sallallahu alaihi wasallam and and
suhammed sallallahu alaihi wasallam will
tell him that this is was a kill by the
angel and and the and the final story
that I'll share is from another
companion that says that he engaged a
disbeliever in really fierce fighting
when he heard a voice from the sky
calling out
advance
and immediately soon after immediately
after he heard the sound of a crack of a
whip you know like wow that sign of like
a whip and that disbeliever in front of
him just suddenly froze and collapsed to
the ground and subhan Allah that's the
striking of that angel we don't really
know their ways and s Muhammad
sallallahu alaihi wasallam when he heard
him that story he said this is this was
an enforce reinforcement from the third
heaven subhan Allah from every single
heaven Allah subhana wa t'ala chosen and
selected select angels to participate in
this battle and give victory to the
Muslims. Subhan Allah.
So the battle ended and it ended with 70
uh of the polytheists killed, the
disbelievers and 70 captive taken
captive. So it's really hard to dig
graves for each one of them. The Muslims
were really tired. So Muhammad
sallallahu alaihi wasallam commanded the
Muslims to dig one large uh place and
bury all of the bodies of the slain
fighters in in that in that.
So once all of the corpse were were cast
into that pit Muhammad sallallahu alaihi
wasallam stood on the edge of that pit
and next to him was
and he said Muhammad sallallahu alaihi
wasallam he started to address the dead.
He will tell them, "Oh Abujah, oh,
oh assembly of Quraysh, what a witch a
tribe you were to your prophets. You
have denied me. You have denied me while
others believed. You have abandoned me
while others supported me. You have
expelled me while others sheltered me."
Tell me now, have you found what your
Lord promised to be true?
Subhan Allah. And he looked at Muhammad
sallallahu alaihi wasallam hearing these
words and he looked at the dead bodies.
He was just astonished. So he turned to
to the messenger of Allah to the to the
beloved sallallahu alaihi wasallam and
he asked him, "Oh messenger of Allah,
how can you speak to them while they are
dead?" Sah Muhammad sallallahu alaihi
wasallam responded, "Oh Omar, you do not
hear me any better than they do." Subhan
Allah. Subhan Allah. Subhan Allah. This
is yan. This is the battle that named
the the the day of the the foran the day
of distinction. It was a huge it was a
big humilation for this is like really
think about it. This is the the fierest
fighters the the the the biggest of the
leaders of of Quraysh. And this person,
this man Satan Muhammad sallallahu
alaihi wasallam who was driven out of
Mecca and within only a couple years,
within one year, the second year coming
now and now he established Medina. He
established an army and now they
defeated the most powerful tribe in
Arabia. The leaders of the Arabs the
like he sallallahu alaihi wasallam and
the Muslims crushed all of these great
warriors.
This is these were not ordering men.
These are not just like their names were
known throughout the whole Arabian
Peninsula for for their bravery and and
and just being great warriors and Allah
willed that all of them will be killed
during that day. And with this victory
Allahh ele elevated the status of of
Medina in the eyes of all of the Arabs.
The Arabs in their nature they respect
strength and now many people they become
began approaching the Muslims trying to
inquire about the faith inquire
inquiring about Islam and entering into
the the fold of the Muslims. So
inshallah we'll end we'll end here we'll
continue inshallah next week with what
happened to some of those captives that
were taken by the Muslims and then the
battle of in the next year in the third
year of after the hijra and the the
events preceded it and we'll just end
with few lines of poetry.
The adan is calling. So inshallah hear
the adan and we'll continue with the
poetry.
