Video summary
The video begins with an announcement for a giveaway of a Nintendo Switch 2, requiring viewers to subscribe and enter via a link before the winners are drawn on October 1st. Following this introduction, the host dives into several key industry updates, starting with the competitive landscape for storage solutions for the upcoming console. SanDisk has recently introduced a 1 terabyte Micro SD Express card specifically targeting the Nintendo Switch 2, though its pricing strategy remains a point of contention. While the manufacturer's suggested retail price is listed at $429, current sales have dropped the cost to around $360, which still places it significantly higher than competing options like Lexar cards that sell for approximately $200. The host attributes these soaring prices to the intense demand for flash memory driven by AI data centers, noting that basic storage components are becoming increasingly expensive as manufacturers struggle to secure supply chains.
Next, the discussion shifts to *The Witcher 3: Remastered*, which has been officially confirmed for the Nintendo Switch 2 with support for mods, marking a significant departure from the platform's historical stance against user-generated content. However, this mod support comes with specific limitations imposed by Nintendo's guidelines and hardware constraints; while many mods will be approved, features requiring excessive memory, such as 8K texture packs, will likely be restricted to ensure game stability on the console's limited resources. Additionally, shader compilation tools necessary for certain types of modifications are not available on the console platform due to SDK restrictions, meaning that advanced graphical tweaks will remain exclusive to PC versions of the game. The host also shares gameplay footage and technical details regarding performance, revealing that the handheld mode targets 720p at roughly 30 frames per second, while docked mode offers 1080p resolution with frame rates ranging from 30 to 40 fps depending on whether a 120Hz refresh rate is supported.
The main focus of the video concludes with rumors and predictions surrounding an upcoming Nintendo Direct event, potentially tied to the Legend of Zelda's 40th anniversary. The host analyzes recent hints from content creator Botox Games, who suggested that a direct might occur in two weeks, pointing to September 8th as a possible date based on various leaks regarding third-party titles like *Visions of Mana* and *Final Fantasy*. Although the host acknowledges that this could be speculation or a strategic ruse by the content creator, the convergence of historical patterns—such as Nintendo's tradition of holding events in early September—and multiple independent rumors makes the second week of September the most probable timeframe. The event is expected to feature major announcements including gameplay for *Ocarina of Time*, new controllers, and updates for franchises like *Fire Emblem* and *Splatoon*, setting the stage for a highly anticipated reveal that could reshape the console's launch lineup.

Well everyone, we are giving away a
Nintendo Switch 2 right now. You can
enter through the link down in the pin
comment or in the description. The only
requirement is to be subscribed to the
channel in order to enter. We will be
drawing the winners on October 1st. So,
you got about another month to enter. I
know when you go enter right now, it'll
have like the wrong giveaway date. Don't
worry, that's going to be updated by the
end of today. All right, guys. Setting
all that aside, we have a few stories to
bring you today. uh including the fact
that there are some more competitors
entering into the Micro SD Express uh
arena for Nintendo Switch 2, the one
terabyte arena, which you would hope
would lead to lower prices, but doesn't
seem to be the case right now. We have
some very key updates on The Witcher 3
Remastered on Nintendo Switch 2,
including our first look at some
gameplay for it, but more importantly,
some exact details directly from the
developer. So, we are excited about that
one. And then, yes, folks, believe it or
not, this happens every single time.
We're getting near a month a direct is
likely to happen. We have our first big
Nintendo Direct rumor, the week it's
going to happen, when to expect it, and
obviously some additional things that
could be in the Direct, maybe even the
day of the Direct. It's it's a
hodgepodge of wildness. And uh I can't
wait to dive into it because I do think
that this is probably the most likely
week the direct is going to happen.
Anyways, so uh really excited about that
cuz look, this dire stuff, Ocarine of
Times, gameplay reveal, new games, third
party stuff that doesn't have dates yet,
and more. All right, let's go ahead and
dive into our very first story here. And
this one deals with micro SD Express
cards, in particular, SanDisk. So
SanDisk is now selling a 1 TBTE micro SD
Express card for Switch 2. That's right.
They were not previously selling 1 TBTE
ones. So it says Switch 2 storage can be
expanded with micro SD Express cards.
And if you're looking for some extra
space on your new system, you might want
to check out SanDisk's latest product.
At Gamescom this week, the tech company,
which specializes in memory products,
has showcased the 1 TBTE micro SD
Express card, targeting, but not limited
to the Switch 2. It arrives roughly a
year after launch of the new system. As
highlighted by the website Notebook
Check, this card has already been made
available in select locations in the US
via SanDisk's Amazon store and has an
MSRP of $429,
although it's currently on sale,
bringing it down to the slightly less
hefty sum of $360.
Still, that's a lot considering the
price of Switch 2. What's interesting
too is while the MSRP is 430, I just
have to note here that them dropping at
the 360 kind of puts it in line with the
Lexar 1 TB on Amazon. So if they
actually were trying to charge 430,
let's just be real here. No one would
buy it. Everyone would just buy the
Lexar one. So to stay price competitive,
we know how this works on Amazon.
Sometimes they overpric things so it
looks like things are on a good deal,
but then you cross compare it to
competitor's products and you're like,
"Oh, okay. They're just trying to make
this look like it's some sort of big
sale, yet technically they're just
literally dropping it to the price of
their competitors. So maybe they would
like to sell it for $430, but you know,
that's probably not realistic for what
they're going to sell it for. It's
really unfortunate how expensive these
things have gotten. Uh look, they were
$200 last year. Like you can get them
for around 200 to 180 on sale, sometimes
175 to 160 even uh at places like
Costco, especially the Lexar ones. And
it's really unfortunate that we have hit
this point where we can't reliably
uh expect that price due to what's going
on in the RAM and storage space. All of
this stuff uses flash memory and that's
what's being literally ate up by AI data
centers. So yes, we talk about obviously
how the price of the consoles has gone
up and how they might go up again next
year. But what gets lost in this is just
basic RAM, storage, even things like
micro SD Express are all skyrocketing as
they're also fighting to get memory
modules for their use purposes. So, man,
it's it's kind of a crazy world out
there that we're talking about nearly
$400, maybe even in some states $400
after taxes uh just for one terabyte of
storage added to your Switch 2. No, I
don't blame Nintendo for going micro SD
Express over micro SD because they
needed the extra speeds. We're in a new
generation. Games demand better speeds.
It's just really unfortunate the timing
of all of this. Uh I'm really hoping
that we're looking back on this in 5
years and kind of laughing at the idea
of this price point existing for
anything other than maybe a two terbyte
drive, which is something I could be a
bit more understanding of at this price.
One terabyte way too much. Should be
$200 or less, but this is the way the
market is at the moment. All right,
guys. We had dive into our next one and
this is about Witcher 3. So, we have a
couple clips to show you guys uh
courtesy of a live stream they did at
Gamescom. Credit to Attack the Backlog
for clipping this stuff. I want to note
you're not going to get the greatest
look at the game. These are clipped and
put on X. However, we will show a little
bit of handheld gameplay afterwards when
we're done uh you know going over the
clips. So, over here you can see, hey,
CD Project Red Confirmed Witcher 3 and
Switch 2. We'll have mod support. Wait,
what? Mod support? not the only game on
Nintendo to have mod support. Despite
the common thought that Nintendo does
not allow mod mod support on their
platform, they've actually had it for
Minecraft already. They've had it for
Doom already. Uh there's like I think
three other games that have mod support
on Switch One. So, what is interesting
though is we don't have a lot of AAA
games supporting mod support. So, here's
what they had to say about that.
remastered.
Can Nintendo Switch 2 players expect to
access the same mods?
>> Uh yes, but we have some limitations.
>> Yes,
>> there are some platform limitations and
uh there are some censorship and other
uh limitations.
>> Every console has their guidelines of
what kind of content can be the
userenerated content, what can be show,
what can be approved. So every mod that
uh will be uh in your menu on your
console is approved. You can install it.
It will be I guess most of the mods. So
but there will be some
>> Yeah,
>> pretty sure. And the other limitation is
more like a hardware limitation. There's
two different kind of hardware
limitations is imagine you have an 8K
mode, 8K textures mode.
>> Yeah. And basically you would lose all
your memory to textures and uh it would
make the game unplayable. So it doesn't
make sense even if it's approved for
consoles. It doesn't make sense to have
an all 8K texture mode for like Switch
to because of the limited memory.
>> But it could be very good on a beefy PC
where you have 128 GB of memory. I mean
if you're really rich.
Uh and the other limitation is uh we
need some tools uh for actually like
compiling shaders for the platforms and
those tools are ND8 behind the SDKs of
uh the console platform manufacturers
and we cannot release them. So like
shader mods will not be a thing on the
consoles but they will be a thing on PC
because we have the DirectX12 shader
compiler available for everyone.
>> Okay. All righty then. As you can see
there, uh, some pretty interesting stuff
in regards to, well, the mod stuff. Uh,
look, obviously not everything can be
supported on consoles as he clearly
explained. I do like that he actually
gave a good explanation there. But now
we got to look at the game while he
talks about the resolution and frame
rate of the game running on Switch 2.
And yes, he is playing this game on
Switch 2. You're about to see dot
footage, although again as I said on X,
so not the highest quality, but it is
better than nothing. And then we'll get
some handheld footage here for you guys
in a moment.
>> And speaking about like performance, uh
what resolutions and frame frame rates
our community can expect uh in a in a
dock mode or in a handheld mode? Can we
maybe talk about that?
>> Yeah. So in handheld mode we are aiming
at a 720p uh resolution uh and about 30
fps and with the handheld mode you have
VR so it goes up to 40ish.
>> Mhm.
>> And in dog mode we have a little more
hardware resources available and uh
there we do 1080p.
>> Okay.
>> And the same 30 to 40ish.
>> Okay. And if the uh television uh
supports 120 Hz, then it goes to around
40 fps.
>> Yeah,
>> it's really good.
>> All right, guys. So, as you saw there,
uh 720p in docked mode between 30 and 40
fps due to the variable refresh rate.
And he said in docked mode, this is
what's really interesting is 1080p in
docked mode. And while we know it
doesn't support variable refresh rate,
if you do have 120 hertz, they are
noting that, hey, you kind of sit around
40 fps while playing. That's actually
really interesting. That's got to get
tested out for me because I always felt
like that was really only truly good
with VRR also with 120 Hz. But I look,
I'm not the best with display
technologies, of course, over here. So,
I'm not going to pretend I know
everything. I just I know enough to know
what I'm talking about when I go to a
store, but not enough to make the
fine-tune uh example details here. So,
either way, I think that's really cool.
And right now, you're seeing some
handheld footage of the game as well.
This comes from Nintendo Life, Alex,
who's talking about it, who I think went
hands-on with it at Gamescom. You guys
can I'll have a link to his video down
below if you want to get his full
impressions on all of this. But now,
we're back to me. And I I just wanted to
note that I find all of this to just be
really interesting. And look, I'm really
excited for this free update September
29th. I'll be checking it out because I
already own the game on Switch, so I get
the free update with all the DLC. So,
that is really awesome.
Now, we get to the big topic. You guys
know what's up. We're talking about a
Nintendo Direct happening soon. Oh,
baby, baby, baby. This is the one we've
been waiting for. This is that general
direct and or 40th anniversary direct
and or combo direct where we're going to
get the console announcement. We're
going to get the controller
announcement. We're going to see
gameplay of Acarena of Time.
The remake, baby. I'm so excited for
that. Oh, and by the way, probably a
bunch of other stuff. More for Dust
Bloods, more for Fire Emblem, more for
uh what is it? Switch Force Resort. uh
more for all the big third-party games
coming as well, including some like Lego
Batman we still don't have dates for.
That being said, guys, when is it gonna
happen? Well, look, a fellow content
creator said something that I already
knew about and was going to ignore until
attack the backlog came into my chat
last night and I'm like, "Ah man, when's
the direct? We're all just joking
around." He's like, "Well, you know, a
you certain content creator already said
something." I'm like, "Wait, I'm
supposed to take that serious?" Well,
let's actually go look at the tweet
because it comes from fellow content
creator blowing up over Call of Duty
lately. Botox Games, who's going to be
at PAX West? I probably see him there.
Two weeks until the Nintendo Direct.
That's crazy. Personally, I'm like, man,
there's no way. Like, you know, I even
said that's my guess as well, right?
Like, I'm trying to act like he's
guessing, but then things get a little
bit interesting as you dig into the
comments. You come down here, right? Who
says? And he said, "You know me." Okay,
whatever. Right. Still be a guess. Wait,
did a date get leaked.
[sighs]
Interesting, right? Isn't that
interesting? Now, again, wasn't going to
pay this. No, never mind. Except for the
fact that Tat the Backlog wanted to
point it out on my stream when I asked
him. So then I'm like, well, we should
probably pay a little bit of attention
to attack the backlog again because I
haven't really checked in uh with any of
his public tweets for a while. Uh and
then I noticed interesting things. For
starters, uh he quote tweeted this post
about Mugenics being listed on Switch 2
on the eShop for September 8th for a
release. Uh, and that's really
interesting since Mugenics is like at
the time at the time wasn't announced
for Switch 2. Right now, it has since
been announced thanks to Open Night
Live, but at the time it wasn't. And
that date is interesting. September 8th.
So, this person's asking basically, uh,
is September 8th, which is a Tuesday,
the day of the direct. I can't say
anything, friend. The ninjas will come.
Well, September 8th, as you might know,
is the second week of September,
two weeks from now, lines up with Boto
games. Now, I'm not saying it's not the
backlog is saying it's September 8th,
but he's not going to confirm or deny it
because, hey, he would get in trouble.
Now, I personally think it's more likely
the Thursday of that week if it is that
week, but that is interesting. And
things get a little more interesting
because well, Attack the Backlog wasn't
done giving hints. So, this person
quotes Attack the Backlog saying they go
nice with that stellar blade near
Automata DLC. No. And then you got Near
Automatica near Replicant. These games
are not announced for Switch 2 right
now. Said, "All I wanted the most was be
able to play my favorite game on Switch
2. Come on, Square Enix. Do us a solid.
I beg you." He says, "They are both
coming, my friend." And he winks. This
person asks him, "You know about Visions
of Mana?" says, "See, okay, maybe that's
a leak there." But he says, "Insider or
you just think so." I didn't know what
this meant. Seek vi I'm probably
butchering that.
You know what it means?
I know. So,
okay. Now, that sounds like a potential
Nintendo Direct announcement, does it
not?
Nintendo works closely with Square Enix
after all. So what does this all mean?
Well, Botox Games is basically saying a
direct is in two weeks. Guessing, not
guessing, up to you.
Attach the backlog.
Referenced him in my live stream
yesterday when I asked him about when
the direct is. he commented on something
on September 8th which means it might be
September 8th or maybe it's just later
that week and he just doesn't want to
confirm or deny because next thing you
know it's everywhere attack the backlog
is leaked the next direct blah blah blah
and he's you know he doesn't want that
on his conscious right now because maybe
uh well I got to remind you not a maybe
last or wait we're still in August I
keep forgetting we're not to September
yet earlier this month he said that he
knew enough to take off a work already,
but still hasn't been willing to put it
out there. So, it's like, okay, okay,
okay, okay. Then you got to throw in the
Zelda 40th anniversary leaks. You throw
in the fact we haven't seen Ocarina of
Time. You throw in well, this uh
Nintendo has had a direct every single
September outside of COVID.
And even then, they had like sort of a
mini. And technically, I guess you could
say they didn't have one in 2024, the
transition to switch two, but they did
have a double direct right at the end of
August. So,
look guys, obviously a direct is
probably happening next month. And I
think the most likely week is that
second week of September. Now, the third
week, I think, is the second most
likely, right before Tokyo Game Show,
but they tend to do it the week before
Tokyo Game Show. Only occasionally has
it been the week of. So,
that brings us full circle here. Now,
we've already done some predictions for
this direct because us as the Nintend
because of packs and other scheduling
things, you always wonder were we going
to get predictions in in time. So, just
to be safe, in case it was next week, we
got our predictions in already. That
said, it doesn't mean we won't do it
again and make official bingo cards
should the time a lot and the
announcements happen when we think they
will, which would be on a Wednesday for
our Thursday direct. Obviously, we'll
have to make some bingo cards for such
an occasion. That being said, folks,
what do you guys think? Okay, what do
you guys think? I am I I I'm not saying
Botox Games knows. He's acting like he
knows,
but maybe it's all a ruse. I don't know.
What I do know is I do expect a direct
in two weeks. I'm not the only one.
Switch Force has acted like there'll be
a direct in two weeks. Now, he has known
about directs in the past, but he's not
saying he knows. Still acting like it's
a guess. We've seen Dree 81. He's gone
out there and already taken the second
week of September off. Now, he admitted
he's guessing and he wants to see if his
guess is right again, but he's been
right on asking off of time before
without leaks and stuff happening. So,
maybe he's figured something out. Maybe
he's heard something and he just doesn't
want to say anything. Maybe he's seen
something on one of those LinkedIn
profiles he's so famous for discovering
news on. I don't know.
Everything seems to be lining up for the
second week of September.
And now there's supposedly a Nate the
Hate podcast about Nintendo stuff coming
maybe in the next week and a half. At
least that's what I've been hearing.
Obviously, until it happens, who knows?
Sounds like we're going to have a very
interesting time at PAX West.
[laughter] A very interesting time at
PAX West. And uh I'm kind of curious
with all the companies we're going to be
meeting with,
will the beans get spilled? Of course,
we're not going to tell you if the beans
get spilled, but
let's just say if I'm coming home on
September 8th,
which is the day before I expected a
direct announcement on the 9th, you see
me extra giddy in a video that day, a
news video,
you might know.
Unless uh obviously you might really
know if Nate the Hate said something.
All right guys, thank you so much for
tuning in. I am Nathaniel Robans from
Nintendo Prime. Catch all you guys
tonight on a special live stream. Warn
you, it's adults only. It's going to be
fun. Hopefully I see some of you guys
there. Catch you in the next video.
