The New Day AKA "The New Level" Debut In AEW...Grayson Waller Is Your New NXT Champion

What's good y'all? It's your boy Ross back at again with another video. So today there was a lot of great wrestling. You had AEW Allin on today. Then you had NXT Heatwave and I believe Triple A even had a show today. So if you're a wrestling fan, you got your feel of wrestling today. And uh shout out to everyone in the Discord. I was watching AEW Allin and I was watching NXT Heatwave since Zilla was going to have his first uh match in WWE for the the NXT Championship in the Fatal Fourway. So, I wanted to check that out. And I also wanted to check out, you know, what was going to happen for Allin since that [music] is AEW's one of their bigger shows of the year. It was in London. So, you know, they had a big big crowd, big vibes, and uh definitely wanted to check it out. Now, I'm going to be honest, I didn't get a chance to check out all of the show. Um there was parts of the show that I was able to check out. I did get to see the uh the New Day, well, formerly known day now, uh the New Level make their debut in AW. And I'm going to talk about that. I I did I was able to see that clip and how that all played out, but I didn't really get to watch the show per se until like the Darby Allen match and then from there on. So, I'm just going to be kind of talking about some of the things that I really did enjoy. Um, first things first, everybody's talking about it. Everybody's hyped about it and that is the new level. Not the new day. No, no, no, no, no. The new level. That's what they're going by. and uh Kofi Kingston and um formerly known as Xavier Woods, but now he goes by Austin Creed, what he was doing before he got to WWE. They have teamed up with Swerve Strickland and uh they ended up winning the trio, the AW trio's championships. That was tough just to see them come out there. First and foremost, got to give credit to Tony Khan. And this is the one thing I do like about AW and the one thing I like about Tony Khan. He will pay the money when it comes to these theme songs. When you heard ASAP Fergs I'm on a new level song and then them coming out, it's just dope because Tony's willing to drop the bag for those copyrighted songs. This is not the first time he's done that. He's done that plenty of times. the fact that Tony's willing to drop that bag to have the new level come out to, you know, ASAP Ferg's new level. I I like that. I thought that was tough. Me being a hip-hop head, I love classic songs. So, them coming out to that was just perfect. It fit and that's the name that they're going with. I don't know how long, you know, they're going to have that theme song. I hope this is like their permanent one. But the fact that he's willing to drop a bag and for them to come out to that was actually pretty tough. They immediately put the trio titles on them and I enjoyed that. I It was just cool to see them get the love that they got. Huge pop out there uh in London. They gave them a great pop and it was just dope to see, man. And this is WWE's doing right here. They decided to not keep them. you know, they didn't appreciate they were worth then now they're in AW. And there was also another part during the show uh I believe um still call them Edge, but Adam Copeland and Christian was going against the Young Bucks. Uh they ended up retaining the tag titles and then all of a sudden other tag teams started coming down to the ring. You had uh Motor City Machine Guns, they came down to the ring. Um then you had uh FTR come down to the ring and then you had obviously um Kofi and Austin uh Austin Creed come down to the ring and you can see all these great tag teams all in the ring including the Young Bucks as well. They're all in the ring and it just kind of gives you a visual of how their tag team is looking right now. And I'm not going to lie to you, their tag team looks pretty stacked. Now, my biggest concern and what it's always been when it comes to AEW is them not getting lost in the shuffle. It's dope that they're in AEW and hopefully Tony Khan and Creative is a, you know, allows them to go out there and perform and they, you know, give them some good momentum and keep that momentum. I don't think they need to be getting lost in the shuffle a couple months from now and they just names on the roster. No, keep that momentum going and see what they can do. Build up that tag team division. They have the the personnel to do it. They have the people that can really make this tag team that much better because honest with you, WWE's tag team division is awful on Raw and Smackdown. It's it's it's not really much to look forward to to be honest with you. So, they have, you know, a real good opportunity to really push that forward. And honestly, you know, I I I think with them being in AEW, we can get some pretty great matches. I just don't want them to lose the plot in a sense and just have these guys, you know, fall by the wayside like we've seen with so many other people that have left from WWE, gone over to AEW, had some good success for a little bit, and then they just disappear into the void of randomness. I don't want that for them. So, if they can keep the momentum going for a while, I think we got something there with them. So, shout out to Kofi. Shout out to Austin Creed. the new level is now all elite. So, I thought that was actually pretty cool. So, congratulations to them. Um, also I want to talk about some of the matches. Um, Derby versus Kevin Knight. I enjoyed that with a Derby match. You can kind of tell you you know what you're going to get. I think this was a uh it was a false count anywhere match. Anything goes essentially. You knew Darby was going to go out there and try to murder himself. I'm just being honest. He is He reminds me so much of Jeff Hardy who's just willing to throw their body at a caution's notice. Don't give a damn. If he dies, he dies. That's literally Darby. And honestly, I can't get mad at it. He again, he's much better than me. And I don't know how his living situation is going to be when he gets older because he's very young. So, I don't know if he's going to be able to walk. I hope he can. But the spots he takes, you you know what to expect with this. It's a it's a gonna be a crash crash derby situation. And that's exactly what this was. Um uh it was cool seeing Sting, you know, Sting and Darby and their relationship. And uh I think Sting's uh son was out there as well. So it's always cool to see that. Um, obviously the spot of the night, one of the crazier spots is Darby climbing all the way up this scalping area on the the main stage and Kevin Knight's laying on this on the on the rampway and he just does a coffin drop from I don't know how many feet all the way down legitimately all the way down through the stage. Obviously, it was like a crash pad area, but this I mean it's still a crazy spot. still a crazy spot. Darby doesn't give a damn. As they're carding off Kevin Knight, Darby is like, "Man, [ __ ] that." You can hear him saying, "Hey, man. Hey, [ __ ] that, man. [ __ ] this [ __ ] Move out the way." And the stage is pretty high, too. So he does another coffin drop from the stage while they have Kevin Knight on the uh on the gurnie [laughter] and hits him with that then pins him for the one two three and I kind of like that because it was a call back to when Kevin Knight turned on him and you know while um Darby was on a gurnie he kind of did like a splash from the top rope. So I think that was a nice little call back there. And um Darby Allen is your new AEW TNT champion. I think this is his third time winning the championship. So shout out to him for putting his body on the line as he always does and uh I thought that was pretty entertaining. Like I I I expected a car crash when Darby's involved and I was entertained so can't get mad at that. Um, next I want to talk about Mercedes versus Willow. This was a really good match. I enjoyed this match. I will say this. I like what they did with Mercedes theme, like a older theme. I kind of wasn't really rocking with it. They did like a remix to her theme. I thought it was better when she came out there. Now, Willow's video package before she came out there, I'mma be honest with you, that [ __ ] was cringe. And I like Willow. I think she's dope. But that [ __ ] was cringe. It was like a a fairy tale story time on how Willow was going to overcome the odds. I was like, "Yeah, she's [ __ ] losing." That [ __ ] was cringe. I did not like it. Maybe some of y'all did, but it just it was so cringe. And I get it. It fits her character. She's this bubbly individual. Um, but I I wish they would have did something else, you know. But nevertheless, I did think her little video package was cringe. But came out there, had a very interesting outfit on. And outside of the entrances, this match was good. Really enjoyed the the back and forth. Willow dealing with her broken hand. And early in the match, uh, Mercedes ended up busted open legit hard way. Like it looked like her nose was broken. And I was like, man, great color. She And she was still out there fighting. And I was like, "Yeah, this is actually a pretty good visual." Um, and a nice back and forth between both these ladies and they they put on the show, but ultimately when it came down to the end, um, she was had um, Willow in a compromising situation, choking her out, and basically Willow ends up passing out. And, uh, Mercedes is your new AEW Women's World Champion. I kind of figured this was going to happen. Um, even without the the cringe intro, you kind of knew this was it it was it was going to head this way because every time she has fought for the AEW championship so far, she's lost. This is the one championship that saluted her. It made sense for her to get the win. I know some people was wanting Willow to retain, but they have been teasing this for quite some time. She went from the belt collector to losing all the belts to coming back and now getting the belt that she's been chasing for so long. I'm not mad at it. I'm not mad at it. And I'm sure they may even run it back. I'm not sure, but you can definitely, you know, create some good matches uh with Mercedes because Mercedes is very good in the ring. So, I think the right person won here. Overall, fun match. Enjoyed it and uh we'll see what they have next for Mercedes going forward. Also, I want to talk about the main event. The main event between Will Osprey versus uh Kenny Omega. Love both of their entrances, by the way. Love both of their entrances. And I want to make a point because I made a joke. I made a joke on uh on X right before the match. I was like, "How many stars do y'all think Dave Belt is going to give this match? How many stars?" because I, you know, it's it's a running joke when it comes to Will and and Kenny. Um Dave Meltzer, he loves them. He loves them to death. There's a bias to it. So, I'm willing to bet he's going to give this a sevenstar classic, but it was a joke. And of course, some of you damn AEW drones can't understand that it was a joke. I I wasn't serious. boys coming at me like, "Oh, here comes the WWE shield mad because they don't have great matches in WWE and they can't get fivear classics." Ah, it was a joke, guys. I I actually watched All In and enjoyed it. So, you know how it is. You know how these people that don't go outside that live and breathe professional wrestling on WWE and AEW side, you know how they get. They get really weird when somebody even makes a joke and I'm like, "Bro, what are we doing, bro? Calm down, guys. You guys are not getting paid. Just watch the product." Like, Jesus Christ. Nevertheless, I'm willing to bet Dave's going to give this a sevenstar classic. But this was a great match. This was fun. I really enjoyed it. Uh, once again, the entrance is great. Seeing Will walk in the back and they gave gave him a video package and his mom was narrating. Oh, he can't [ __ ] lose this, right? They're showing all some of his younger days in different companies and and he's walking through the back and he's seeing people that he's interacted with over the years in AEW and he finally gets out there. Huge crowd reaction. Uh John Moxley gives him a flag and he goes out there and just huge pop. It just made sense for him to finish his story. And then Kenny Omega had a great entrance, too. He had somebody narrating his entrance and it was kind of like a a anime style uh intro and he came out there and this was it had a big fight feel to it and what I enjoyed about this match they went with the traditional the baby face in his hometown underdog story. That's basically what they went with like Kenny Omega he was maxed out his attributes was at 100. He was on a different time. He was trying to pack this [ __ ] He was trying to pack up Will Osprey with no remorse, no mercy. Will Osprey ended up busted open early. Referee just letting [ __ ] happen. This was good. And majority of the match, Will Osprey was getting his ass whooped. Now, I do think it may have been a little bit too long because you do have to build up the baby face because Will was the baby face in the situation. You have to build it up in enough time where it's not too long of him getting his ass whooped and then the crowd's just kind of dead because the crowd was kind of quiet for a lot of this and it wasn't until Will made the comeback, that's when the energy increased. I think the Will getting his ass beat for however long it was, I think it was a little bit too long. I think if they cut that down and we get to the comeback a little bit sooner, I think it would have probably been a tighter match in my personal opinion because he was beating him down majority of this match. Like it was it was brutal. It was like damn, let me throw in the towel. This is getting awful to watch. But nevertheless, ultimately uh Will started making a comeback. I think one of the highlights of the match is Will kicking out of the one-winged angel at 2.99. Crowd went insane. That was a good false finish. I truly truly enjoyed that and that's when the momentum picked up. Now, if there is one other critique I have to give is towards the end when Will was really in his bag, you can tell the momentum has shifted. You know, it looks like he's about to get the win and he's kicking out of his own finisher like one and other moves at one. I know that's what Osprey does. That's that's that's his thing to kick out at one. I'm not the biggest fan of it when it happens like that. I would prefer it be like a couple like some some near falls there kicking out at one out of, you know, a move being hit on you. Even though it's not being hit, you know, you're not hitting the move, you're receiving your own move. I understand that it may not be as effective, but it does take me out. And then for me, it was just like, ah, I wish they would have kind of built up towards that him kicking out, you know, maybe at 2.99. That's just that's just my personal opinion on it. But I know that's what um not will Kenny does. That's what Kenny does. He tends to kick out of certain moves at one, you know, so I understand that's kind of his thing. So, I get that. But nevertheless, ultimately, Will Osprey ends up winning. Huge pop, beautiful moment. You could tell Will was emotional and pyro going off and I thought it was great. I thought it was dope. The right person won. It It don't take rocket science to book this. Will has not ever gotten the AW championship. He's been close, but never he's never truly gotten it. and to get it in his hometown, in front of his family and friends, in front of that crowd, it made sense and it was a beautiful moment. I enjoyed it from the matches that I was able to see. I did enjoy the show. So, I I think Allin for me was a success and it was pretty enjoyable, man. Pretty enjoyable stuff. Now, switch over to NXT. Let's talk about what kind of happened there. Um, I really want to talk about um, what's her name? Kendall Gray and Kehlani. They had a pretty good match and I had both screens up. So, I'm trying to, you know, watch both of them at the same time, AEW and NXT once they came on, but they had a really, really good match. I enjoyed that the ladies cooked up there and Kehlani end up getting the win over Kendall. Thought that was pretty solid. Um, Nangalante, the women in NXT, they do be carrying and it seems like that's just been a thing that's been going on for many years now. That was a really great match. So, I can appreciate that. And then also the main event with Zilla being in the fatal four-way, him making his WWE debut match and the crowd was pro-zilla. I mean, if they would have put the title on Zilla today, I don't think anyone would have complained. maybe some of the people that, you know, tired of the bloodline stuff and slowing stuff, but they didn't put the title on him today. But you can tell where they're heading. There was one point in the match where Zilla, he's laying on the table. Grayson Waller, who has the opportunity. He's in the ring. He's fighting with himself. He says, "Fuck it." Goes to the top rope and hits like a elbow drop from the top rope all the way to Zilla on the announced table. looked like he hurt his leg, like he was writhing in pain. But I mean, such a beautiful spot. And I just love what they've done with Grayson. Like, who would have thought in 2026 Grayson Waller uh would be like a a pretty good like standout right now in NXT? I never would have guessed. It's really kind of concerning why we I haven't been able to see this version of Grayson Wall on the main roster because if there's anybody that, you know, could have really, you know, elevated whether Monday Night Raw or Smackdown, I mean, Grayson Waller is cooking. He's actually doing some good stuff promo work as well. Like, I've been enjoying his overall attitude. It's refreshing. It just sucks that they didn't see this for him on the main roster. They didn't want to give him that opportunity, which makes absolute no sense. But surprising win here. Grayson Waller is now your new NXT champion. Not only did he take out Zilla FA 2, he picked this spot and is now your new NXT champion. Grayson Waller in 2026. new champ. Once again, who would have thought? No, seriously, who would have thought? I would not have thought in a million years Grayson Waller in 2026 would be going back to NXT, cutting some of the best promos in his career and then having a pretty great match to win the NXT championship and beating a Samoan in the process. Part of the Fat Two family. [laughter] Look, man. I'm not mad at it. I'm not mad at it at all. He just got back to NXT and already the NXT champion. Not mad at it. Now, it does lead me to believe that they are going to set up something. They're going to set up a program with Grayson Waller and Zilla. They're definitely going to set up a program between these two. And I'm actually really looking forward to it because Grayson been talking his trash. You know, Zilla's not gonna stand, you know, stand for it. I'm here for it. I do think at some point Zilla will be NXT champion. I mean, you can tell by the reception he got tonight. Oh, he's super over in NXT. He will be NXT champion possibly before this year is up. I'm willing to bet. The question is, will Grayson Waller drop it to him? I can see that happening. But, uh, right now, Grayson Waller is your NXT champion, and I'm not mad at it. But overall, this has been a great afternoon, great day for wrestling. I didn't get the chance to check out any of Triple A, but I did hear some people in the Discord saying Triple A also cooked up today. So, may have to go back and check that out. But nevertheless, AW All-In from the matches that I did see, I really did enjoy. And I'm glad that The New Level I got to get used to that. I'm used to calling them the new day, but the New Level has now made their debut in AEW. hoping to see great things from them. Zilla has made his first WWE debut match uh in NXT. I thought that was pretty entertaining as well. Grayson Waller is your new uh NXT champion. Will Osprey is your new AEW World Champion. Mercedes Monaet is your new uh women's AEW World Champion. And my boy Darby Allen is a threetime uh TNT champion. But nevertheless, man, fun day for wrestling. Let me know which shows did you guys watch and enjoy. Did you watch Triple A today?
