But right now we're just going to talk about cuz today being a man crush Wednesday. Oh that is man crush Monday sorry we're going to talk about some of the definition what's the real definition of a modern man with a purpose. So just going to get in depth in that conversation and right of course I'll be joining our guest we are going to give us even the highlight of is he has written a book about relating the the modern man to the man in the bible. So taking some of the key characters some of the key male characters in the Bible now comparing it comparing them to the modern man and look at somewhere some some of the ways that we have gone wrong in the new modern society. So apart from that of course we've been looking at even his book what really transpire even um maybe encourage him to go and write to go with this type of angle and to write this book. Yes. So that's what basically I I do. Yes. >> Now I think your other your other side correlated what we are going to talk about today. Now let's talk about your book that you've written. I think you have it already the notable script. What really is uh what really inspired you to go and write the notable script and maybe you can give the them I've just given maybe a small you've just given the breadcrumbs but you can give them the whole piece. What is really in the notable script? So what basically I have been able to capture on the notable script is uh >> I have been able to go through the Bible and see >> uh what what did the man in the Bible go through >> and what is the modern man facing today. >> Mhm. >> Because every now and again people come up with different uh definitions of what it means to be a man. Mhm. >> But now we have a script in the Bible >> and we have practical examples that whatever we are going through today >> as men, >> it is in the Bible. It is not something new. >> Mhm. >> And I go to the Bible and see how did they handle different >> situations >> in the Bible. >> For example, I look at uh the King Lwell. >> Mhm. King Lemuel is the the husband to the the Proverbs 31 woman. >> He was a a man of honor. He was at the at the gate. So how how do you live honorably as a man? >> Mhm. >> And then I go and look at uh some of the men that were were restored like Nebuchadnezzar, >> they were facing issues with uh pride. >> Peter was facing issues with performance >> trying to please people >> out there. >> Mhm. So whatever every man is is facing today, >> I get to capture. And so what I do in the in the book is >> I get to now discuss what the man is facing >> and what happened in the Bible in that scenario and give a conclusion >> and a way forward, a practical example on how >> to go about that particular issue. >> Yeah. So that what I basically cover. >> So for me it was a very intensive research >> because the book is a large volume is a 242 uh pages book >> and uh just encouraging people to go back to the script and see >> what was God's design >> for the man. >> Yeah. So that was basically I >> what I capture in the book the notable script. >> Amazing amazing work. Now in the definition of a man a man with a purpose actually can you say in the Bible and compared to the modern way there's there's a similarity or is it different compared to what in the Bible how we used to view men and the modern way how men are viewed right you know >> yeah because now we look in what we are doing right now is a >> I call it a very dangerous way of defining manhood >> because somehow it is materialistic. >> Mhm. Because we want to say wallet, >> but it is not Yes. The man should have money. Yes. >> But it is not the first thing. It's not the first priority. It's not the first like up there. >> Mhm. >> So the man is wondering, >> so if I don't have the money >> Mhm. >> So I'm not a man. >> Mhm. >> Uh you will see how even the ladies are doing. >> Yeah. uh if you don't have money you can't date >> you can't do anything so people are setting standards that if I can't have so the money is >> it's all defined by the amount of money that you have in your wallet >> yeah because now I want this woman I'm going to be laid back >> because I [clears throat] I'm thinking now >> because >> this lady will not come >> yeah true I think that's the reality of uh the reality nowadays so the man will become passive because what he wants now to do is >> I I want to get the money because it is the money the women want. >> They don't they don't want to interact with the man himself. >> You see >> and and you will see a lot of people a lot of even uh influencers coming up with now >> uh when a when a when your woman is having even a a job a better job than you. So people are coming up with those different >> definitions of of manhood. But if we look in the Bible, >> a man should be able to take initiative. >> Yeah. >> A man should be able to live responsibly. >> A man should be able to have a worthful legacy. >> What will he want to be remembered for? >> A man should be able to love faithfully, love sacrificially. Mhm. >> So those are the definitions of a man taking initiative, >> leaving a legacy, loving sacrificially and loving faithfully. >> So these things the the the modern people are telling us when you say take initiative is it is it defined the same as being the provider? >> Taking initiative is for example >> being the lead. >> Mhm. >> Uh prompting conversations. You are the leader. Mhm. >> For example, if you if you starting a relationship, you are the one who bring up the conversation. >> So, take that initiative. And if you look at the Bible >> between the scenario of Adam and Eve, >> Adam was was very passive >> and I get to tackle it here. He was very >> passive. And when he was asked now, who gave you who gave you the fruit? Mhm. >> He said if he blamed the woman but as a man you are the the person who should be able to take >> responsibility. You are the leader there should not hold back. Then after we have a problem you say >> yeah so we should not we should not be able to lay lay back. Yes. >> Okay. So good definition they take initiative. That's the best way to to describe a modern modern man. But now when we talk about uh what's some of the what's the some of the limiting factors that do do can you say maybe social media so so um promoting some of these definition of a man cuz right now if you don't have money you are not defined as a man what kind of a man are you and you cannot do this for me do this for me so do you think with the new generation is more is more drive driven by what we see on social media and what we consume on social media >> yeah because again our generation is feeding on the social media media a lot. >> Mhm. >> So whatever you see it sticks >> and most of our agencies are on social media and even you see even the the number of uh divorce rates. >> Mhm. >> People are even scared of getting married. >> Mhm. >> Because whatever they see >> Mhm. >> people the the good side of marriage is not being showcased >> but a number of divorces are many. what is happening inside there. >> So people are saying >> yeah even somebody looks up to you and say >> yeah so somebody has already a mindset [clears throat] >> yeah because now he has been fed a lot with a lot of information. Yeah. >> So that that really creates a lot of tension >> because now >> the the social media >> is now defining masculinity for us >> instead of us now >> uh going back to the script and and seeing what God desired for masculinity. >> Yes. Now when you mentioned something about in this new times where you need to have money so that you can maybe be described as a real man. So when you talk about man with a purpose can you say you can have a purpose can still be a man with a purpose and still be broke at the same time? Will you be respected or does the stability come first before the purpose also comes? >> So how can you be able to define purpose? Purpose is uh something that brings fulfillment. Mhm. >> Yes, money will come but it is something that you can do. >> Mhm. >> So if you have a purpose, it is what you have been called to do. >> Mhm. >> It's me asking you who are you? >> Who are you as James? >> It's something that brings fulfillment to you. It is something that makes you to >> to wake up. Yeah. >> And money is not the motivation. >> Yeah. >> The motivation. Yes. it will come but as you do your purpose >> Mhm. >> because it's something you love to do. >> So the first priority is focus on your purpose. >> Yeah. >> The money will come >> will come. >> So I will define purpose as a fulfillment. >> And it's not necessarily purpose in terms of uh ministry. >> Yeah. >> But there is what God has called you to do. Maybe you are an entrepreneur. Yeah. >> God has called you to build something in the business place >> and even what you are doing. >> Mhm. >> It's a it's purpose. >> God has called you into this space and you are speaking life >> to people. >> Yeah. >> You have the power to destroy and build. >> People are watching you daily. >> So it it is a purpose that God has given you >> to speak life into people's life. to speak life >> because now people watch, people hear what you say >> and you minister to the people through uh airwaves. >> So this is what God has called you to do. >> So you you must be able to define >> purpose as as fulfillment >> and not relate it with let money come after. >> Mhm. >> Yeah. Uh now I just wanted to get to know uh when you talk about maybe uh purpose it's something that you don't get once just don't wake up and say this is my purpose I'm just going with this path it's something that comes to you as you grow of course you love can you have more than one purpose actually >> yes >> yeah so uh it it's a sense of >> of direction >> when you are a man you should be able to have where am I going Mhm. >> If there's nothing you are aiming at >> Mhm. >> life will aim back at you. >> Mhm. >> Because purpose is what am I aiming what am I aiming at? >> Mhm. >> If you if you cannot be able to wake up and say this is what my goal is. >> Mhm. >> I am an I am a man on a mission. This is what I'm going to do about my life. >> There somewhere I am aiming. >> If you don't know where you are aiming at, life will >> aim back at you. And when life >> aim back at you, it comes with distraction because >> you we now focus on uploads people to validation >> because when you define where you are going >> Yeah. >> A man without a purpose is like >> a ship >> Mhm. >> without a comp a compass direction. >> Mhm. >> The ship should be able to go to a certain direction. But when you don't have >> uh a compass on where you are going, >> Yeah. that trip will be able to drift and not make it to the destination. So as a man, you need to have a mission. What are you built to do? >> Where are you going? >> What has God called you to do? >> So you you should be able to tell where are you going? >> Yeah. >> And this makes even your life to be easy because >> you are productive. >> You don't just wake up and do anything. >> Yeah. >> That's what you have been called to do. >> Mhm. >> So every moment matters. Mhm. >> Every time counts. >> And what we tell the men uh there's a program we do. >> We tell them to write >> your ology. >> Mhm. >> So for example, I've written my eology. >> Yeah. >> And that means this is how I would like my my eology to be read. >> Mhm. >> So as God has given me purpose to raise men, >> each and every day counts. >> Mhm. >> So I will be I will do everything >> as if I have no tomorrow. Yeah, >> my life will be productive. What I manif >> in the mental health, >> in the security >> so I have a meaning to life. I'm not just waking up and doing anything. >> I have a goal to achieve. >> So you should be able to have a mission. >> So a man without a purpose, you can't just wake up. >> Is a he has a different move. >> When you are a man with a purpose, you you don't just wake up to seek attention. Mhm. >> You wake up to make progress to make yourself better. >> Mhm. >> When you are a man with a purpose, you are a man who is wants to build. >> Mhm. >> Building through discipline, building through standard, building a a legacy. >> So you should be able to have >> those particular things because it drives you, it motivates you. >> What has God called you to do? >> What is your mission? Where are you going? Mhm. >> Even at that point, even a lady comes to you, >> they want a man who has a sense of direction. Where are you going? >> So God has called us to have purpose. >> Yeah. >> So that >> you know who are you as James? >> What's your purpose? What drives you? >> And that will be able to to to even make your life very productive. You don't just live anyhow. >> Yeah. >> So there's a purpose God has called you to be. Maybe you are an entrepreneur. >> Maybe God has called you to build that >> to impact. And the purp the the the the purpose of of uh why you should be able to have purpose. Money should not as I said earlier it should should be able to have impact and transform people's >> but should not define you actually. >> Yes. >> So it should not be able to define you. Yeah. So that is what I can be able to say. We should be able to build >> you should be able to be a man who is building something >> something. Yeah. >> Whatever it is. >> Mhm. >> And uh that some things uh we need to have as we build purpose. >> Yeah. >> As a builder, as a man, when you are building purpose, you should have >> a good imagination. >> Because somebody is watching us today and saying, "How should I build a purpose? Mhm. >> But have a >> just getting out of your comfort zone actually. >> Yes. Imagination because again >> Mhm. >> Do you God has called you to be a journalist? >> Have you created that imagination? >> Are you seeing yourself five years to come? Mhm. >> So you should as as a >> as a as a man when you are building create that imagination >> let it be a positive >> don't create a a poverty mentality >> because I'm a joali because I am aua >> or uh someone else >> I cannot be able to build. So as you as as you have purpose >> create have that positive imagination on where you want to be >> and let don't have that poor imagination or mentality. >> Yeah. >> Now uh now talking about imagination I think every man out there dreams to have the better the good future the the best of the best thing but what do you think limits or what do you think where do you think men actually get stuck? Is it the fear or some of the distraction or is it poor mentorship? Of course you have in your programs you have interacted with many men. So what do you think from your experiences you can say what where do you think actually men get stuck while finding their purpose? >> Uh I would say tenacity >> as a man as you are building your purpose you should be able to have a tenacity. >> Mhm. >> No fear. >> Mhm. >> You are like uh conquering. >> Mhm. >> Because again that that purpose you will see yourself there going to be limitations. Mhm. >> Because you want to do something. >> Mhm. >> And you feel there are a lot of limitations. There are no resources. >> I don't have the money. >> God has called you into a profession and you don't have enough resources. >> Mhm. >> But God has entra entrusted you with something small. >> You are a resourceful man. >> As you build, >> God is building resourceful men. >> What do you do with the little you have? Because what we again as we achieve our purpose, we wait for something big. >> Mhm. >> But what can you do with something that you have that is less >> because don't wait for >> for something big yet you have some somewhere you can start. >> Yeah. >> Don't wait for a camera when you have a a a phone. >> Mhm. So having that because it's the fear God has called me to to a great thing that >> this is how I see my future become. >> Mhm. >> But you are not you're not seeing it right now. >> Yeah. >> But >> because of the limitations you cannot forgo your purpose. >> Mhm. >> You cannot forgo your purpose. There is something in your hand. >> Can you able to to use it >> that small? Can you be able to be entrusted with whatever you have that is small >> so that when you are entrusted with something big >> so it will show so you have been entrusted with here Y254 >> so when God propels you to go to CNN >> Mhm. there there's a journey >> and most even for our men as we build our purpose we don't want to be processminded >> because as you build your purpose it is not instant glory >> you'll have to go through challenges >> it is not >> uh one day I have just come in 3 months you are out >> it's a whole like process >> yeah it's a whole process because some of us want instant glory we want instant fame >> we want people's uh validation applause >> so we want that validation from people. So we don't have that those we are not processminded. So as you build as a man be process minded. >> Uh be be resourceful and use whatever you have at that time. >> Picture yourself and have a a good imagination mindset. >> Mhm. >> Focus as a builder. >> Keep the main thing the main thing. Keep your eye on the price. >> Mhm. And also develop yourself >> so that even as you do your purpose >> go an extra mile read books >> so that you >> you >> the inside of you you have built capacity. So research what has God is it journalism is it medicine is it a doctor is it being the president do research >> give it a lot of excellence >> there's no opportunity for mediocrity >> this is what God has called you to do >> whatever God has given you whatever it is >> how little it is >> maximize on it >> steward it >> follow the process >> trust the process Go little by little, >> invest, give it your all, >> give it excellence >> again because God God >> people want that you you go far. >> Yeah. >> But you don't want to do the work. >> Yeah. >> You need to do the work because it is not going to uh it is not going to come by by itself. >> You need to do the work. You need to grind. >> So you need to have that grit. >> Yeah. So you need to also have that perseverance when you don't see things coming. >> Keep on >> because you believe this is what uh my purpose is. >> Yeah. >> To impact people >> to to be a blessing to people. >> Mhm. >> But even what even when I'm not seeing it, >> trust the process. >> Yeah. >> Increase your knowledge. Increase your imagination. >> Focus because a lot of things is going to come. people are doing a a lot of people are doing uh allow me to use you as an example most of the time >> a lot of people are doing journalism but what makes James >> different >> so that you don't >> uh imitate another person and be other person >> be another person >> keep your goal this is what I want to be so as you build purpose >> see that mind this is what I've been called to do >> so it is more it is more than money it is more It is something that makes you wake up each and every day. >> Yeah. >> And you look forward to it >> and you do it with passion. Even if they'll not pay you, it is it brings some fulfillment to you. >> Mhm. >> So that's that's purpose. >> Mhm. >> And do it with a lot of excellence. >> Yeah. >> As if you don't have a chance. >> So that's why we tell the men in our program, write your eology. >> Some things I have not achieved. that is that in that eology. >> So even I if I'm in this interview I have like for example if I walk outside there and >> I don't I I don't come back. >> I'm going to do the interview as if it is the last >> interview I'm doing. >> I am maximizing on every opportunity. >> Exactly. >> Yes. >> So do your purpose. Do what you have been called to do. >> Give it excellence. It does not matter whether it's big >> or small. M >> just put that imagination in your mind >> focus increase your knowledge >> trust the process >> and have tenacity that uh when you're having tenacity you're not being soft you're not being weak >> you are having that a conqueror mindset I I want this is where I want to go in the next five years I'm going to very work hard >> and be the best joali >> so that people come and serve my country. I'm going to the best journalist. >> Yeah. >> And tell stories that impact the people out there. Stories that are not being told. >> Mhm. >> So build your purpose and see where God is is is taking you. >> Yeah. >> So as a man, you need you need purpose. >> You need something to drive you. >> Like you you are on a >> you are on a mission. There's something you want to fulfill. >> So when you don't have a mission, you're distracted. >> Girls will come. >> Mhm. things will come, material things will come, >> but keep the main thing the main thing. >> Yeah. Yes. >> Find your purpose. And of course, as a a man or as anybody out there trying to find the purpose, we are putting you we've been put on different path. Maybe you're in journalism, you're maybe in joi. So those are different path. But we find like when you are trying to find your purpose, some things like peer pressure come along and also comparison comparing yourself with what the other person is doing. So do you think how much does maybe peer pressure and also comparison to to other people detail the men today >> what happens is comparison brings even competition >> there is something you carry >> that I don't have >> both of us are journalist >> there's something you carry and I I must accept >> there's something that you have that is going to make your interview so well >> even another person will be given the s the same topic >> Mhm. M >> but there is something you have that I don't have. >> Mhm. [clears throat] >> And and you you have to identify and you have to is the identity >> that we have been called we are in the same profession but we have been called differently. >> So don't compare your yourself >> because again what that comparison does is you're going to beat yourself up. >> Somebody's going to get an award and you have that peer pressure people are not noticing me. >> Mhm. And that's why I was saying earlier >> if you're going to build as a man, if you're going to build your purpose, trust the process. >> Sometimes people will not notice you. >> Mhm. >> People are many different professions. We are crowded. Yeah. >> People don't get to notice you. So you wonder what should I do >> to be get noticed? Clout. >> Mhm. >> Uh just say something. >> Seeking attention. >> Seeking attention. Mhm. >> I just say something that you take take a piece clickbait >> a contradictive anything. >> Yeah. Yeah. Because now people you're wondering how are these people doing it >> instead of asking them how are you doing it? You want to now do shortcuts >> because now you're not trusting the process. You're seeing >> someone is already ahead of you. You want to be there quick. >> That's why I was saying instant glory. So when you're doing your purpose, >> trust the process. Don't compare yourself. You'll beat yourself up. >> Because now >> our our paths are different. >> So follow your purpose. >> Don't don't don't uh uh have peer pressure. >> Mhm. >> People are called differently. >> Mhm. >> So you are uniquely called to your profession. >> Mhm. >> So keep uh keep to your profession, trust the process. >> Mhm. >> And you will reach to the tail end. Mhm. >> So just focus, keep on the main thing. Don't focus on what other people are are doing because this is what you have been called >> to do. >> Mhm. >> And comparison will kill >> because will kill will kill you because now you are not you are not breathing. >> Mhm. >> And you will do different things >> if you don't have direction. >> Yes. Now talking about of course talking about men in this new generation maybe the for for men in their early 20s also the men in their late 20s even their early 20s let's say the age group between 20 to 30s the late 30s what can you say cuz I mean right now when they compare themselves to other people they tend to believe that they are left behind so maybe what can you say to those those are men who feel like they are left behind in uh in the in the in the age group that they are uh most of us in our in our different age groups we want uh >> we want things quick. >> Mhm. >> And what really happens is uh we are not modeling. >> Mhm. Because for for you to be able to seek validation from people >> and uh not at an early at an early age what that means is >> there's something where that has come from. >> Mhm. >> Because there's a gap. >> Mhm. >> H how have you been raised up? >> Mhm. >> Have you been affirmed? >> Mhm. >> So when you're not affirmed, you're going to seek affirmation from other people. >> Mhm. Are you taught to be contented? >> So your father will tell you this is what we have >> and when we have this this is what we can afford for now. >> Mhm. >> So that you don't you don't chase >> you don't uh you don't borrow borrow borrow loans. >> So what happens is >> who is modeling for us masculinity. And that's why many fathers play a critical role >> because when there's a gap when there someone a man is searching himself >> and you didn't give him a blueprint from the go as a child >> Mhm. >> he's going to come and wonder what now this is what it means to be a man >> so when you don't when you don't give him a blueprint >> the world will teach him. >> Mhm. So you wonder ah so why is this guy wearing uh a skirt? >> Mhm. >> So you are never taught anything about LGBTQ. >> Mhm. >> So this this young man at 28 or 27 is exploring. >> Yeah. >> So we have different ages where men are exploring. >> Yeah. >> So he's trying to explore. uh what if I put a a a ring or wear a skirt because he's trying to find himself. He's trying to explore and see ah there this new thing people are doing this way. >> So if you don't give the man a blueprint and be able to know >> like model for him that masculinity. >> Yeah. Because now uh if as a as a father you're not vulnerable and let let them know >> when I have lost work. >> Yeah. >> And it is okay >> to feel this way. >> Mhm. >> So somebody can can be raised and they lose work and they and and they don't say because >> what them social media is saying uh when you don't have money, you don't have work, >> you're nothing. >> You're nothing. Mhm. >> But if you tell him now, you are still a man even when you don't have that particular money. >> Mhm. >> So what you need is to just go out out there, continue searching. So don't stay in your cave and say now I'm I'm I'm finished. >> I'm done. >> Yeah. So we are not modeling to the men >> and be and bringing the conversation at an early stage. >> Mhm. Because what happens to us as we mentor men >> there are some things is different to unlearn >> now you're telling this is what you're supposed to do. >> Mhm. >> And the man will tell you this is what I have known all my years. >> Mhm. >> So unlearning is very hard. Telling him now this is what a man should be. Now I learn this is what you're supposed to do. >> Then I learned now this is what you how you're supposed to treat your wife like that. If you don't model for them >> when they reach and try to explore >> the world will teach them what to be a man >> and maybe you're not there with them. >> So start an as an early stage model when they are young. >> Mhm. >> So even when you leave them to go outside come pass start life. >> Mhm. >> The world is not confusing them. >> They have where to look. >> This this how we do in our home. >> This is what we are known as. Mhm. >> So this is what uh the James family is known for. Like people will look at your family and know that there are these things that you you your families stand stand for. >> Mhm. >> So when even a lot of things come >> Mhm. >> there's a blueprint. When there's no blueprint >> now the world feels you. >> Mhm. >> But if you have a blueprint will say no but this is what >> this is not right. This this is wrong. >> This wrong. But when you when you left to identify >> and explore yourself, >> you will do you will do your own things. >> Yeah. >> People will make content for for validation for applause. >> They still >> if I don't have likes >> then what am I making? >> Mhm. So the blueprint should be made early enough so that when >> a contradiction comes it's easier to uh to differentiate between truth and something that is false. >> Mhm. >> Yeah. >> And of course being a generation filled with social media of course a lot of cultures and also a lot of religion we have to find them that major common blueprint of a man. But now just to wind up what is the best advice maybe you can tell to all our men out there because these are men crash Monday. So just I want to to in this new generation what the best message you can tell them just to wind up real quickly >> uh as you build >> uh your purpose >> identify what God has called you to do. >> Mhm. >> And uh use what it is in what's what's in your hands. >> Find brothers >> brothers uh that can walk with you >> people who have done the same thing as you. Encourage each other. Mhm. >> It's very good to have an accountability system. >> People that work with you, encourage uh encourage you. >> Don't walk alone. >> Uh a famous uh club is known for that. Liverpool, >> don't walk alone. >> Have someone >> guiding you. Even if you don't know what what your purpose is, >> have someone to walk with you. Someone who has been >> a mentor actually, >> a mentor. Mhm. >> So that uh make your life meaningful, make your life productive. >> There's something that you have been called to do. >> Mhm. >> Don't be a man without a purpose. >> Have a sense of direction. And when God has called you to do, the resources might not be there, but use what is in your hands. >> Yeah. >> See how you can increase capacity. You are a conqueror as a man. >> Mhm. >> Have imaginations that you're going to make it five years. where you'll want to be >> and trust the process and you will impact uh with the little you have there's something in you that the world is waiting for. >> There's something that you you have that will really impact whatever it is you are doing whatever it is you are building as a man. >> Just have tenacity, focus on the main thing. Trust the process. Increase your capacity by reading books. that just have something that is driving you, that is motivating you. >> Don't just leave life. Don't just go anywhere without having a goal, without having a cause and without having a mission >> and find your purpose. Maybe you can just show them your book and where they can get a copy of the notable script and maybe tell them what's next after the notable book uh notable script. >> So this is the notable script.
