The Blood Of Dawnwalker - Best Console Settings Guide / 30fps, 40fps or 60fps? (Xbox & PS5 Settings)
Watch on YouTubeVideo summary
In this comprehensive guide for *The Blood of Dawnwalker* on console platforms, the creator shares specific settings recommendations aimed at improving gameplay stability and combat flow. The video begins by addressing the difficulty preset, suggesting that players start with "Fair" to ease into the mechanics, especially since the combat system blends elements reminiscent of *The Witcher* series. While the host initially struggled with directional blocking, he advises keeping the directional indicator on to see enemy attack angles, though he notes an option exists for those who prefer to rely solely on animation reading. For players finding themselves overwhelmed, enabling "Auto Block" is recommended as a temporary crutch until muscle memory develops, allowing blocks in the wrong direction at the cost of stamina rather than failing entirely. Additionally, the guide suggests disabling camera shakes and keeping combat finishers active for their visual satisfaction, while also recommending that consumables be restricted to quick slots during fights to maintain a smoother pacing.
A significant portion of the discussion focuses on performance issues encountered by the host on his Xbox Series X, including freezes and crashes when using "Quality" or "Performance" modes. After testing various options, he concludes that the "Balance" preset offers the most stable experience for consoles, effectively eliminating the stuttering found in Quality mode while avoiding the instability of Performance mode. Although the frame rate in Balance mode feels closer to 25 FPS rather than the advertised 40, it provides a consistent visual experience without the jarring interruptions caused by lower settings. The host also invites feedback from PS5 Pro owners regarding their specific performance experiences, noting that his current console is making unusual noises and might need cleaning or replacement in favor of the newer hardware.
Beyond stability, the video details several visual and map-related adjustments to enhance immersion and usability. In the post-processing section, the creator disables motion blur due to personal preference but retains bloom effects and depth of field to maintain a realistic atmosphere without excessive lens flares. On the display settings, he recommends turning off the intro cinematic on startup after the initial viewing to prevent unnecessary loading times. For map navigation, it is advised to enable all visibility options, including undiscovered locations, non-interactable markers, merchants, activities, and quest start points, ensuring players have full situational awareness. Finally, the guide touches upon audio and control settings, leaving these largely to individual preference while suggesting that vibration be turned off for a cleaner experience, and concludes by encouraging viewers to share their own tips in the comments section.

So guys, I am back with yet another
blood of the dome walking video. Today I
bring you my recommendations in regards
to the best settings you should indeed
be paying attention to specifically on
consoles. Let's go. How's it going guys?
My name is DPJ and if you do enjoy the
video, leaving a like really helps out.
If you like what you see and want to see
more,
be sure to subscribe. I just want to ask
if you are playing on a PS5
Pro, how is this game running for you? I
am playing on the Xbox Series X and I've
already had a couple of freezes, a
couple of crashes.
Uh so yeah, I'm actually now playing on
a quality setting
which has eliminated these but it
still feels a little jittery to me but
either or, let's get into it guys. So if
you press start, come down to settings,
we have a whole host of things you can
indeed be checking out.
Okay, so getting into it guys, I'm going
to start with
gameplay and then we have combat. Now
difficulty preset here, I well, this is
down to the player.
For me, I haven't played a Witcher game
in so so so long and it's kind of like a
cross between a Witcher and another
specific game, I can't remember its name
but either or,
getting used to the combat early on can
be kind of difficult.
So I think fair in regards to the
difficulty preset
is
good and that indeed means that keeping
the RPG difficulty and the action
difficulty all on fair too because if
you change any of these, it goes to a
custom difficulty preset. But this I'm
definitely going to change as soon as I
get used to the actual combat in this
game. I mean, I'm still put off by
playing other games for so long using
the directional blocks. Does show me but
there is actually
a setting here you can use for that.
We'll come to that in a quick second.
Now the directional indicator, this, Um,
don't know why you I mean, if you want
to
play it this way um, and not see the
direction of an enemy attack is incoming
and you have to basically rely on
spotting their animations and the way
they're swinging
you're a better player than me because
this will be I mean, it's something like
this kind of challenge I definitely want
to try, just not right now. So, I'm
keeping this on. Again, if you turn this
off, you won't know which way the enemy
is attacking.
So, you won't know which way to block.
So, yeah. Show damage indicators. I love
this. I always have this on. Uh, the
text in this game I wish you could make
it a bit smaller, but either or, I still
want this on.
Auto block. Choose how the game handles
blocking in the wrong direction. When
you put this on, blocking in the wrong
direction still succeeds, but consumes
stamina.
So, you could probably use this with the
direction indicator. Turn this off, turn
this on. You probably get used to if you
see if you wanted to, but I mean, if you
are struggling, if you're massively
struggling in regards to the combat
probably put auto block on for now until
you get used to the directional blocking
and then you can switch this off. But,
it's actually a quite a good setting
here, really is. Okay, so use
consumables from inventory in combat.
Um, so choose how consumables can be
used in combat. On, any consumable item
in the inventory can be used during
combat. And off, only consumable item
equipped in quick slots can be used
during combat. I'm keeping this off. Um
it just keeps the flow of combat much,
much smoother in my opinion. So, yeah.
But, you do what you got to do here.
Combat finishers, keep this on. Amazing
in this game. Slow motion on perfect
blocks. This actually also assists, kind
of assists in regards to the perfect
block and slowing down time a little
bit. So, yeah, keep this on in in my
opinion. Camera shakes
turn off. I Well, for me anyway, it's is
a personal thing. I hate any camera
shake, any camera blur. Turn this off,
people.
Uh gameplay show tutorials, keep this on
early game definitely. Always show
tracked objective. I mean, this is
actually an option I like and I'm glad
it's actually being um well, it's a
feature in this game
um because obviously, if you're tracking
an objective, you've come across another
objective, some games it would
automatically switch, which can put you
off massively. So, always show tracked
objective is here. Time progression
activities proximity indicator, also
keep this on. As you know, in this game,
um
well, every quest I've come up against
now will always add those time well,
those bars to my time bar. Um and what
this will do, guys, is is up on you
coming up to a quest on your map, it
will actually tell you the indicator
will show you there's like a little
clock there, a little a little like sand
um
glass What do you call it now? Glass
sand things turn upside down. I can't
remember. I'm tired. This game's kept me
up all night. But yeah, there's
something like that new it. So, yeah,
just be a warned. Just be aware of what
this actually is doing. It means if you
go into this quest, it will uh jump time
in your 30-day limit 30-day night limit.
So, yeah, keep that in mind. Camera
distance, you want this on far.
Um same as combat. It's a shame it isn't
you can't actually get this further
because um it still seems relatively
close to me, it really does. So, yeah.
Also, the lock-on's a bit annoying, too.
The enemies, the camera just goes all
over the place. Hopefully, [music] it's
something they fix in a future patch.
We'll see.
Um map show undiscovered locations, you
probably want to put this on. Show
non-interactable map markers, you
probably want to keep this on, too. Show
merchants on, show activities on, and
show quest start locations on the map.
You want to put this on, too. Why
wouldn't you?
Okay, so video. Now, in regards to I've
had this on quality, I've had this on I
think it's performance.
Quality is just a little bit too like
jittery in my opinion at office 30
frames per second, but it just looks
jittery. My eyes can't take it. I then
went to performance and that's where I
kept getting weird freezes and crashes
and you see one on screen now. And it
kept doing my head in. I then went to
balance and I haven't [music] had a
problem since. But to me it doesn't look
like it shouldn't anywhere near 40
frames in most instance in me playing
this game. It feels as though I'm
playing like 25.
Could be just because I've come from
another game I was running on perfect
flawless 60 FPS and my eyes just ain't
getting used to it yet. But yeah,
balance for me seems to be the perfect
one for consoles at the moment. No
freezing, a little bit of frame rate in
quality. So yeah, this was asking PS5
pro players.
Are you playing on performance? How does
it look? How does it feel? Do you get
any freezes? Let me know down below in
the comment section. If that is the
case, I'm going out tomorrow and I'm
buying a PS5 pro because my Xbox Series
X
seems to be making all kinds of crazy
noises. It's
I don't know if it's overheating. I
don't know what's going on with it, but
yeah. It may just need to be opened and
cleaned. I don't know, but PS5 pro makes
more sense to me either or. So yeah.
Okay, so post-processing motion blur.
I mean this is down to the player. I
hate this on games, so yeah. I've turned
this off completely. Bloom I'm keeping
on. Adjusted global render. Bright light
sources higher setting create a stronger
effect. Disabling this option will also
remove lens flares. I kind of like the
actual effect this gives [music] to the
game. I'm not going to lie, so I'm
keeping this on.
And this I always turn off. I always
have, so yeah. And depth of field I've
kept on. Uh simulate camera style focus
by blurring distant or out of focus
objects. It just makes the game look a
little bit more real in my opinion, so
yeah.
We then have display. Play the intro
cinematic on startup. You want to turn
this off once you've watched it one
Although as good as it is, as if you've
watched it once you don't need to keep
skipping through every time you turn it
on. So, yeah. And then guys, we just
have controls, which is completely up to
the player itself. I'll just turn
vibration off. I hate that. Controller
preset I have on default.
Um I didn't even think about changing
it. So, I'm not going to think about
changing it now because I'm still trying
to get used to the buttons. So, yeah.
Then we have audio, guys. And this is
all completely down to the player. Well,
there you have it, guys. Those are my
recommendations for controller players
uh with your blood of the dawn walker.
If you have any um recommendations,
please do let us know down below in the
comments section. Uh but yeah, guys. If
you enjoyed the video, leave it a like.
It really helps out. If you like what
you see and you want to see more, be
sure to subscribe. And hopefully, guys,
I will see you on that next
one.
