Video summary

The video explores the profound story of Al-As, a believer from the family of Pharaoh featured in Surah Ghafir (Chapter 40) of the Holy Quran. Despite holding positions of immense power as Pharaoh's cousin, finance minister, and closest confidant, Al-As remained steadfast in his faith in Allah, even while surrounded by an environment that worshipped false deities. The narrator highlights three righteous individuals known as Siddiqs, with Al-As being the greatest among them due to his unwavering belief despite his privileged status. This episode emphasizes that true faith requires taking personal responsibility rather than relying on one's surroundings, drawing parallels between Al-As and Asiya, Pharaoh's wife, who both maintained their conviction against overwhelming societal pressure. To practice his faith openly in such a hostile environment, Al-As employed the concept of *taqiyya*, or concealing his belief by speaking with double meanings to avoid persecution. He would retreat to remote mountains and caves to worship Allah privately, using distractions like animal noises to escape detection when soldiers discovered him praying. Although two soldiers witnessed this act and reported it to Pharaoh, Al-As cleverly turned the situation around by questioning the accuser about his own deity, creator, and sustainer before publicly declaring that these attributes belonged solely to Allah. This incident illustrates how Al-As not only protected himself but also used his unique position to warn Prophet Musa (Moses) of impending danger, ultimately saving him from Pharaoh's plot to kill him. The narrative further details Al-As's efforts to guide the people of Pharaoh toward monotheism through various methods, including logical reasoning, historical examples of previous nations being destroyed for disbelief, and direct appeals to their conscience before eventually openly denouncing Pharaoh as a false god. When he finally proclaimed his faith publicly, Allah protected him from physical harm despite the intense schemes of Pharaoh's court, though narrations suggest he was ultimately martyred while crossing the Nile with Prophet Musa. The video clarifies that the Quranic promise of protection referred to the preservation of his faith and soul rather than his physical body, reinforcing the lesson that believers should prioritize safeguarding their iman above all else, even if it leads to martyrdom or social exclusion. The story concludes with a tragic yet inspiring account of Al-As's wife and their children, who faced brutal torture and execution for refusing to renounce their faith. As boiling oil was poured over them one by one, including a six-month-old baby who miraculously spoke to comfort his mother, they remained unbroken in their belief until the very end. The narrator notes that these martyrs will be among those supported by Imam Mahdi in the future, serving as a testament to the power of unwavering faith. The overarching message encourages viewers to emulate Al-As's dedication by entrusting their affairs to Allah through sincere supplication, trusting that while physical lives may be taken, their faith will remain eternally protected by the Divine.

Dear viewers of Im Hussein TV, welcome to yet another episode from the series titled Quranic Stories that change our lives where we delve deeper into the verses of the Holy Quran where Allah subhana wa ta'ala mentions stories that you and I can benefit from and take lessons and can implement within our daily lives. Inshallah. The story that I wish to discuss today comes from the 40th chapter of the holy Quran. The chapter that many of us have known as surah gaf. But according to different narrations and according to our scholars, surah alaf, the 40th chapter of the holy Quran has another name to it as well. And this chapter is known as surah al m. the chapter of the believer. Who is this believer that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has named an entire chapter after? This believer is a man by the name of his or his he is famously known as the of where in fact 20 verses of the holy Quran within the surah are dedicated to this individual. Let's take a moment to understand who his or his according to the narrations is. This individual is the cousin of the pharaoh. He is the finance minister of the pharaoh. Not only that, he is the closest friend and the closest confidant of the pharaoh. In fact, Pharaoh is was seen to be saying to his courtiers and to his people and to his subject that if anything was to happen to me, then the successor, the pharaoh and the king after me is to be my cousin, my confident, my finance minister, his. And so we see that his had everything in his fingertips. Wealth, power, fame, one step away from manmade diety. But yet the holy Quran labels him as a m as a believer. We take things a little bit forward. Allah has been quoted to have said that there are three siddiks. There are three individuals known as the truthful ones. The first one is al the second one is his of and the third one is and he is greater than the previous former two. And therefore in this episode I would like to touch upon the verses of the holy Quran that discuss the story of his and shed a few important lessons that we were able to take from the life of this individual by the name of his the believer from amongst the people and the family of the pharaoh. Before we continue, allow me to give the first lesson that we're able to take from the life of his tale into our own lives. And that is protecting our faith regardless of the environment. As I mentioned in my introduction and the prelude, his was not only the confidant of the pharaoh, not only the finance minister of Pharaoh, not only his cousin, his family, his friend, but his was one step away from manmade diety. He was one step away from being the successor and being the pharaoh himself. And he had all of the power in his fingertips. Yet despite the environments that he lived in, despite all around him, people would worship a god that was other than Allah subhana wa tala, he lived during a time a man would call himself, I am the one true lord, the greater, the greatest of all. Yet despite the environment, despite his upbringing, despite what he faced all around him, his never faltered away from the religion of Mus Alisam never faltered from the belief that he had in Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala. Similarly, if we look at another individual during the same time of HP Assa, the wife of the pharaoh, again, she had everything in her fingertips. All of the environment would lead her to believe in a god other than Allah subhana wa ta'ala. But yet we see from our traditions, we see from our verses of the holy Quran that's again Assa would hold on to the rope of the firmness of the belief in Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and she against all odds against all of the environment that was against her would still believe in the one believe in the oneness of Allah subhana wa tala and therefore a reflection that I must now reflect upon invite you to reflect upon the same is how can I stop making excuses that my environment is this I live in such a way when I go to school this happens when I go to work this happens how can I take responsibility for my own faith knowing full well that the individuals like his and would believe in the oneness of Allah subhanaa tala despite their environment and so one lesson before we even delve into the story of m of alon we understand that his took responsibility for his own faith and did not rely on the environment and the people around him to dictate his faith. This is lesson number one. And another thing that we understand from his was despite him being this individual that he was so close to Fyon, he was performing something known as and in order to conceal his faith. What is the difference between and is to conceal one's faith to is to say something in a way that you say it in a way that someone else understands it in a way but you meant it in a completely different way. For example, something known as halftruth that we may say it colloially. Allow me to give you an example. Now we understand that his was performing. He was living amongst people that would worship a lord other than Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala. He would live amongst a man who would himself proclaim to be I am the one true lord the greatest. Do you think it was easy for his to hide his faith not be able to worship Allah subhana wa t'ala openly? In fact, we have traditions that point towards Assa, the wife of the pharaoh, going into the toilets and the washroom and to the shower room in order to privately worship Allah subhanana wa ta'ala to get away from her environment. Do you think it was easy for his skill to practice and trying to worship Allah subhana wa tala? And so what his skill would do is he would go far away into the mountains in order to worship Allah subhanaha waala and he would worship Allah subhana wa ta'ala in the caves so that he was away from the people. Once Fyon had an urgent matter and he called he called his subjects saying where is his steel bring his steel towards me but yet they would look around the castle and the palace and the buildings and his steel was nowhere to be found. These there were two individuals who were tasked to find his steel. They go ride around the city, the village. They go to the border. They come across this footstep of the mountain in the jungle and they see that his horse is there. So they realize that his must be around there. So they start looking towards his and from the corner of the eyes they see his worshiping in a way that the people at the time never worship. And it seemed that his was worshiping a lord other than Fyon. And his skill also realized that these individuals have seen him. So he makes a distraction. The animals start making some noise. The birds start flying and he uses the cover of this distraction to go away. But the damage had been done in the sense that these individuals had already seen his perform worship in a way that they know he's not worshiping Fon. So now they start talking amongst themselves. These two soldiers, can you believe it? Fon's closest confidant, his family, his cousin, his friend is worshiping a lord other than the pharaoh. Imagine if we were to tell this in piece of information to Fyon, he would give us a huge reward. The other individual says that look, what has his skill ever done to you and I? If we tell on his scale, if we complain to Fyon about his skill of what we sow, Fyon's going to kill him and we're going to lose a good man. But the first person was adamant. He was saying no I am going to get the reward from the pharaoh. And so he goes to Pharaoh and he complains to Pharaoh that this is what had transpired. When his comes into the court, the pharaoh is now enraged, raging, frustrated and angry. And he calls upon his what is it that I am now hearing? Do you worship a lord other than me? So his realizes that what's happened and he comes to calm collected and at this point he recites a dua of Allah subhana wa ta'ala from the verses 44 and 45 of this surah that I have mentioned surah m chapter number 40 and we will come to this dua in a little while and he recites this dua and he says ya Allah protect me and so his comes into the court of Fyon and he says Fyon how long have you known me have you ever known me to lie Have you ever known me to say something that is not the truth? Fyon says no. His you always say the truth. You never lie. His says very well and tell me what is wrong. Fon says look this man says that you worship a lord other than me. So his says who? He says this man. He says bring him forward. And then his asks him a series of questions. He says tell me who is your god? The man says Fon is my God. He says very well tell me who is your creator. The man says Fyron is my creator. His says very well tell me who is your lord your nourisher. The soldier says Fyron is my lord. He is my nourisher. Then his turns towards Fyon and he says then let it be known. Let all around this court be witness to my statement that I testify that his lord is my lord. His god is my god. His creator is my creator. His nourisher is my nourisher. When Fyron heard the proclamation of his peel in such a way, he was amazed and he looks towards the soldier and he says that you are trying to create a discord between me and my family. I am going to make an example of you in such a way that people for generations will remember. And he does that and he makes an example of that soldier. What his field did here is known something as to he practiced something known as halftruth. He said something understood something else but he meant to say something completely different. And this was how his would practice and in order to protect himself and to be able to worship Allah subhana wa ta'ala. But yet like I said it wasn't always easy for him to practice and but he would save himself not only himself but he would be a benefit to those around him especially that of prophet Mus Alisam. You and I have all come across the verse of the holy Quran chapter number 28 surah al kas verse number 20 where Allah subhanaa tala says that there comes a man rushing from the farthest end of the city and he says mus the chiefs are actually conspiring against you to put you to death to kill you so leave the city I advise you to do so this relates to the story of Musa Alisam when he tries to break up the two individuals the man from and the other one from Banu is as he's trying to push them away. He blows he he gives a blow to the individual of the Fon and he pushes him to his death. And so Musa Alisam now has a shoot at sight warrant against him. He now has a arrest warrant against him. So Allahhana says that one man comes to you from the far end of the city and he says Musa go away or you will be killed. Who was this individual that comes to MS telling him Musa go? It was his skill because his steel was part of the inner circle of he knows exactly all the decisions that are being made and because he is concealing his faith he was able to protect Prophet Musa Alisam in such a way. Now let us progress our story slightly further. Now we get to the point of the story where Mus Alisam goes into Mad 10 years later he comes back he's now proclaiming to about the sto about the message of the one true lord and he says and Allahh says to go on to Pharaoh for verily he has transgressed all of the boundaries he goes to Fon and he says look believe in the message of the one true lord Fon says I will not and so there's the story of the magicians that happened at that point when he realizes that now the attention is not no longer on his scale but the attention is on Mus Alisam and that Mus Alisam is now going to be killed at this point his tries to invite the people of the Fon and the magicians towards the message of the one true lord and he does so in various forms and methods in the first instance he says that look let's think about it logically If MS is saying the is is not saying is is saying falsehood then we don't we don't need to kill him. His falsehood will ruin his reputation. But if he's saying the truth then we really need to consider um who we believe and who we do not believe. Then he tries another method. He says look remember the people that came before us the people of and how Allahh destroyed those people. Then he reminds the people of Yufisam. Not very long ago, Ysef had come and again he had propagated the same message of the one true lord. And again he would remind the people of the heaven and the hell. And number five, the fifth method he used when he understood that no one is understanding and trying to listen to what he is trying to say. Then he professes his own belief in the god of Musa Alisam and denounces Fon as his lord. Again before we move on to the story let's take a moment here his does he brings other people towards the religion of Islam towards the religion of Mus Alisam but he does that in five different methods through past experiences through examples through the story of Yuisam through logical explanations through the uh heaven through the example of heaven and hell and so on and so forth such that In one of the methods, Fon postpones the killing of Musa Alam until he has reach he has constructed a huge tower. So he's able to speak to the Lord of Mus. That's another story for another moment. But his field tries different methods to try and get the people away from killing Mus Alisam. Similarly, a lesson that you and I can take from here is what? to understand that you and I also have a responsibility to bring people towards the religion of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. Some of us may not be able to do it in one method or the other but we all have different methods at our expos exposals. Imam has been quoted to have said very famously be a source of ornament for us. Do not be a source of disgrace for us. And so you and I are the believers of the message of Allah. We are followers of we need to understand that the best way to bring people towards the message of the B is towards our wasl a man of noble character the mercy upon mankind. One of the best ways to bring people towards the religion of the B towards the oneness of Allah subhana tala messenger of Allah the of is through our characters but this was the third lesson we take from his m of al now we get to the final lesson and I will mention the verses in question before that answer me this what's the four most important things within our lives. We start off with wealth, right? Wealth is important for us. We'll protect our wealth. We'll put it into the bank. 2008 financial crisis happened. We doubt it, but we still try to protect our wealth. After wealth comes our health, we're happy to sacrifice our wealth in order to regain our health. We'll go to the doctors. We'll go to thearmacies. We'll go to the hospitals at the slightest of fever. We can't afford for our health to go and the slightest of evil we spend our wealth to regain our health. After health comes our children. Never do we let our children go outside of the house alone except that we explain to them don't talk to strangers. Be careful. The world is very bad out there. Number four is one that we're ready to sacrifice our wealth, health and children for and that is our faith. And so protecting our faith is key. Now we reach to the point of the story of Mu of Alon where he has now proclaimed his religion being the religion of Mus Alam and he has denounced being God. What does the holy Quran say? Sorry. M chapter number 40 verse number 44. Allah subhana t says you will remember what I have to say to you. Says and I entrust my affairs to Allah subhanahu wa tala. Surely Allah is all seeing and he's all he is allseeing of his uh servants. The following verse verse number 45 Allah subhana wa tala says what? So Allah protected him from the evil of their schemes and Pharaoh's people were overwhelmed by an evil punishment. So the context of the surah is what the the two verses is what his skin now proclaims his faith in Allah subhana wa ta'ala when he does that he says the following dua I entrust all my affairs to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala Allah subhanaa tala is allseeing of all of his servants and Allah subhanaa tala responds by saying Allah protected him from the evil of their schemes. So here we see Allah his skill is protected. How is his skill protected? Let's bring this example home. Few years ago we had the disease known as dish or nis the nonislamic state of Iraq and Sham. Not ISIS, not the Islamic state. Because why should you and I do the marketing for them nis the nonislamic state. Nothing about them is Islamic. Nothing about them was anything stately. Imagine you and I are walking along the streets. A few individuals of dish come. They know you are the lover of the B. They will tell you what we are now going to kill you. You know the story of he recites the dua. I entrust all of my affairs to Allah subhana t. Allah responds back saying Allah protected him from all of the evils of their schemes. So you recite this dua. How can Allah help you? Three ways. Number one or two two ways. Let's go for number one. He either gives you superhuman strength so that you're able to defeat however many people there are 10, 20, 30, 100, a thousand, right? You have superhuman strength. Allah has protected you. Number two, he does something to your enemies. Maybe he uh makes them disabled. Maybe he makes you invisible so that they can't harm you and so on and so forth. But other than these two reasons, there's no way that you can think of any other way that Allah can protect you. Again, his steel, how can Allah protect him? He is surrounded by Fyon, his army, his soldiers. The narrations don't mention that his skill got superhuman strength or Fon's army was disintegrated. In fact, very few narrations mention that his skill was in fact saved and he crossed the Nile with prophet Mus Alam. But the majority of the reas that of Misan quoting Imiki says what? that his field was killed. His pe his body was cut into pieces. His body was mutilated. He's body was for example burnt. But here in the holy Quran we recite what? Allah protected him from the evil of their schemes. The first time he still recited that dua, he was able to protect himself. Remember the story of the soldiers who had seen him worshiping in a way other than but in this time his recites this dua Allah says we protected him but the narrations say to what that his body was cut into pieces Allah subhana wa ta'ala protected him not his physical body but his faith which is why I said there are four important things in our life the fourth most important thing being the faith of his that was protected and this is the lesson lesson that you and I take that yes we may be killed, yes we may be uh socially excluded from our communities and so on and so forth. What is most important is protecting our faith. And the latter part of the verse says what and the people of the pharaoh were overwhelmed by an evil punishment. An individual comes to imam and he says who is this alone who are engulfed in the punishment of Allah subhana wa ta'ala? He says it is the daughter of Fyon. Histil had a wife say Mashita uh she was the hairdresser to the daughter of uh Fyon. And while she was combing her hair, the comb fell and his ke's wife as picking up the comb says the doer of says which lordy he says no the lord of fon and you I speak of the true lord and again the daughter of complaints to her father. This is where Allahh says the entire all of her own were overwhelmed with evil punishment. She goes complains to her father. Fyon is now enraged. His inner circle is getting desecrated. His steel has already rebelled and he's been killed. But he can't allow his skill's wife to do all the same. So he says his skill's wife, you have a choice. Either go back to the religion of your forefathers or you will be killed and I will make an example of you. And so a copper furnace comes forward. They fill it with either boiling water or boiling oil and they bring the children of his wife one by one. But Eskil's wife says, "No, I believe in the message of the one true lord." In fact, Allah was in Maharaj and he says, "I smell a sweet fragrance." And he was told by Gibbrail that this is the ashes of the wife of his and the children of his. In fact, from the 17 people that will reappear with Imam Al Mahi supporting his cause is one M of Al and his wife. So one after the other the children of histil are now burned alive in front of the wife of his when the final child is taken six-month old baby your minds have perhaps gone into a different story in Kbala six-month old baby has now come says look final chance's wife the narration says she reflects but at that time the six-month old baby starts talking she he says the baby says mother don't worry about this we have our faith protected and again this baby is also burnt alive and the wife of his kill is also burnt alive but yet they protect their im. And so the crux of this story is that we continue reciting this dua knowing full well inshallah that when the time comes if our life is gone then inshallah our iman our faith is protected just like Allah subhanaa tala protected the faith and the im of his wife and their children. Alam.
