Video summary

The Summer School 2026 is praised for its exceptional balance between empirical research and theoretical frameworks, creating a comprehensive learning environment that addresses fundamental questions about inquiry itself. Participants highlight how the program encourages critical thinking by exploring what constitutes good research questions and effective methods for answering them across its various modules. This dual focus ensures that attendees not only gain technical skills but also develop a deeper understanding of the broader academic landscape, making the experience valuable regardless of their specific field of study. Beyond the academic content, the summer school offers significant opportunities for networking and collaboration among students and faculty who are leaders in their respective research areas. The schedule is intentionally designed with ample time for interaction, allowing participants to exchange ideas with peers working on similar topics and engage directly with renowned professors. This exchange of perspectives is frequently cited as the most beneficial aspect of the program, fostering a collaborative atmosphere where diverse disciplines are brought into conversation and new interdisciplinary connections are formed. The benefits of attending extend across all stages of a PhD journey, from early career development to refining advanced research designs. Students report that the program provides them with the right analytical frameworks to structure their work while helping to narrow their focus on specific theories and methods that are most useful for their projects. Even those who may not consider a particular discipline as their primary area of interest find themselves opened up to new literature and methodologies, expanding their intellectual horizons in ways they had not previously anticipated. Ultimately, the summer school is described as an amazing opportunity that equips students with both broad conceptual views and fine-tuned research capabilities. By combining high-level theoretical instruction with practical empirical guidance, the program helps researchers clarify their attention and select the most appropriate tools for their specific inquiries. The consensus among participants is that this balanced approach, combined with the rich network of like-minded scholars and expert faculty, makes the summer school a highly recommended experience for anyone looking to enhance their research trajectory.

[music] >> I think it's very balanced. It has this balance between empirics and theory. I really like that across the first and second parts of the summer school, there is this sort of overarching question on on what are good questions, what are good ways of answering the questions. >> It's a great opportunity to meet [music] other people. We have a lot of built-in time to network and collaborate [music] with others studying similar topics to us. >> Yeah, sure. If their work is relevant to the theme of the summer school, I would definitely recommend it. >> Yes, for sure. The summer school is amazing. [music] It gives you the opportunity to meet nice faculty that are in the foremost in the research of their areas. Also, it allows you to meet other people that are working in similar topics and the exchange of ideas is the most beneficial part [music] of the summer school. >> Absolutely. Yeah, I think it's great even earlier in the PhD to later gives you a good view of kind of the content more broadly, but then also helps you really fine-tune research designs as well. So, I think it's beneficial to PhD [music] students kind of at any stage of the process um for sure. >> So, I think it will benefit me in the sense that it it has given me the right framework to analyze my my kind of work. Um and it has also narrowed down my attention to certain methods and theories that could be useful. >> The professors here really have opened [music] my eyes to other literature and other disciplines that I wouldn't have necessarily thought of uh checking out. They [music] have brought this into the conversation. They have shown how you can use this even if this is not your primary discipline.
