Video summary
In this episode of the build log series, the team focuses on constructing a high-performance workstation for a customer who is currently dating their girlfriend while managing business needs. The project began with significant challenges as the builder struggled to source specific parts, leading to a period of back-and-forth communication that lasted several weeks due to supply shortages. Despite these hurdles, the team successfully secured components and even offered alternative solutions when initial requests were unavailable. The process highlighted the value of patience and collaboration, ultimately resulting in a machine that perfectly balances the customer's diverse needs for professional 3D rendering and intense gaming.
The specifications chosen reflect a careful balance between raw power and practical market availability. For the central processing unit, the AMD Ryzen 9 9800X3D was selected to provide top-tier gaming performance with its V-Cache technology, though the team acknowledged that other CPUs might be better suited for pure rendering tasks; however, the priority here was a versatile build capable of handling titles like Battlefield 6 and Path of Exile II at ultra settings. The system is powered by a robust X870E AORUS MASTER X3D motherboard to allow for future upgrades, paired with 32GB of G.Skill Flare X5 RAM which offers the best price-to-capacity ratio in the current market. Storage is handled by a Crucial NVMe SSD, marking a notable shift as the consumer-focused Crucial brand has recently exited the market following Micron's pivot toward enterprise and data center solutions driven by AI demands.
The graphical performance is driven by the AORUS GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Master, replacing an initially considered 970 XT model to better align with the customer's desire for a "green" team aesthetic. The build is housed in an NZXT H7 Flow 2024 chassis, which was specifically requested for its excellent airflow and spacious interior that accommodates large cooling solutions. Thermal management is handled by a Lian Li Galahad II Lite 360 Performance Black cooler and supported by Arctic Cooling P12 and P14 Pro fans to ensure stable temperatures under load. Powering the entire system is an MSI MAG A850GL PSU with an 80 Plus Gold rating, a choice that has proven reliable enough for the shop to keep in stock for future builds.
The video concludes by reflecting on the successful delivery of the machine and the positive feedback received from the customer, who was also gifted a monitor by his partner despite some initial disagreements over parts selection. The narrative serves as both a technical showcase and a lighthearted reminder that building a PC can be a source of relationship strain if one is constantly researching upgrades without consulting their partner. Ultimately, the episode emphasizes the importance of finding the right balance between performance requirements and budget constraints, while encouraging viewers to reach out for assistance if they wish to avoid similar struggles in their own PC building journeys.

No, my 9 GF and customer now and Gaga
research now for his dream build and we
had to step in para matapos na ang
struggles niya kakahanap ng parts at
baka mag-away pa sila.
I have less than 30 seconds to tell you
about our sponsor. What do you say to be
in now? We bought hundreds of Windows
keys from them [music] and that we use
them all the time in the shop. What do
you say to be in now? We look at the
payment options, so it's super easy for
us here in the Philippines para bumili.
I could say that they're super easy to
use, but it's a lot of stuff in gold. Go
to directly from Microsoft. You will
lose those activation keys. 15,000
pesos. The sponsor nothing [music]
less than 2,000.
Use our discount code HS25.
That's it.
That's the ad.
>> [music]
>> Just like healthy relationships, and he
yes got a good and I didn't get none for
this build. The discussion on the specs
[clears throat] took a couple of weeks.
The back and forth also in the
components because some of the initial
parts were not available from our
suppliers. So, just like what we usually
do, we will offer the best possible
alternative. How you get to yes makes
the final yes that much sweeter. This is
build vlog 12. Let me run you through.
>> Oh, yeah.
>> The customer will mainly be using this
machine for its 3D rendering in Blender
plus a lot of gaming on the side at 4K
resolution. We're talking BF6, POE2,
Corsair Cove, and many more at ultra
settings. For the CPU, we went with the
9800X 3D. 3D V-Cache, eight cores, 16
threads at 5.2 GHz on boost. Best in
class for gaming. There can be a better
option for the 3D rendering task, but
considering that we're also be gaming a
lot on the side, I think this is the
best balance for it. The customer
initially wanted a different motherboard
model in the same [music] chipset, but
eventually landed on the X870E AORUS
MASTER X3D. We splurged a little on a
very capable motherboard to accommodate
possible upgrades in the future. Our
go-to G.Skill Flare X5 2 by 16 6000 MHz
CL30 for the RAM. Nothing too fancy
here, 32 gig non-RGB kit, just enough
for what the task requires. We could go
with a 64 gig kit, but considering the
current market situation, the price to
capacity is not there for 64 gig [music]
RAM. PCIe Gen 5 Crucial NVMe SSD for the
boot drive. It's been a while since we
last used a T705 for a build.
Unfortunately, from what we're seeing
from our suppliers, more and more
Crucial models are going out of stock.
Just in case you didn't know, Micron
shifted their focus to enterprise and
data center demands and officially shut
down Crucial, [music] their
consumer-focused brand, all thanks to
AI. Excuse my thoughts, but a very
reliable brand that we all know now
exiting the market. I hope that whatever
they're doing better be worth it. Now
for the GPU, the customer was initially
looking to pair the 9800 X3D to a 970
XT, then changed his mind. He wants to
join the team green
the replacement the AORUS GeForce RTX
5070 Ti [music] Master
for the case and cooling NZXT H7 Flow
2024 for the chassis. The customer
specifically requested for the case
since it offers a lot of clearance for
the components and great airflow to
cover the temps. We said sure. Lian Li
Galahad II Lite 360 Performance Black
for the CPU cooler. Simple and
straightforward, no unnecessary bling,
just pure performance. And the
combination of Arctic Cooling P12 and
P14 Pros for the case fans. Everything
will be powered by the MSI MAG A850GL
[music] PCIe 5 80 Plus and Cybenetics
Gold rating. We had a great experience
since carrying this model, so we started
keeping them in stock here at the shop.
When I last checked with the customer,
feeling good naman sila nag-away kasi
ni-regaluhan pa daw siya ng want her
niya ng monitor, but all in all, he's
been using the machine with great
feedback. Now, if you don't want your
partner to be mad at you for frequently
researching for your next PC [music]
purchase, I don't know what you're going
to do. Send us a message and let us do
the work for you. Thanks for watching.
