Video summary
The video provides a detailed review and reaction to an episode of Friday Night Smackdown, highlighting several key storylines that generated significant heat within the WWE universe. The host begins by discussing the intense confrontation between Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton, which served as one of the show's primary segments. Following their SummerSlam encounter where Orton kicked his eye out, Rhodes challenged him to a rematch but was interrupted when CM Punk appeared on screen. This led to a heated verbal exchange involving Kevin Owens, who entered the fray with his own history and grievances against both Cody and Punk. The segment escalated into personal attacks regarding authenticity and career trajectories, culminating in physical altercations that underscored the deep-seated hatred fueling these feuds, which the reviewer found highly entertaining despite some confusion over the immediate plot points.
Another major focus of the episode was the United States Championship match between Baron Corbin and Trick Williams, where Corbin successfully retained his title after a controversial finish involving interference from Carmelo Hayes. This victory allowed Corbin to set up a new challenge for himself against Hayes in their hometown next weekend, adding another layer of intrigue to the mid-card scene. The reviewer also touched upon the main event featuring Jade Cargill versus Charlotte Flair, noting that while it was initially presented as a one-on-one match, outside interference from Beef Fab and Mia Yim turned it into a chaotic brawl involving Alexa Bliss's magical powers. Although Charlotte emerged victorious with her signature Sister Abigail move failing to connect cleanly due to timing issues, the segment showcased the unpredictable nature of Smackdown matches where multiple parties often get involved in unexpected ways.
The most significant storyline discussed was the official coronation of Chelsea Green as the new WWE Women's Champion following Rhea Ripley's injury and subsequent surgery. However, her reign faced an immediate setback when she lost to a tag team consisting of Tiffany Stratton and JC Bailey during what should have been a celebratory moment for her title win. The reviewer expressed disappointment at seeing such a major champion treated like a jobber so early in her run, suggesting that this loss signals the beginning of a short-term reign rather than a long-lasting one. Furthermore, Nia Jax made an unexpected return to attack Chelsea and reclaim the championship, setting up a potential future showdown between Nia and Chelsea that could determine whether she remains as champion or if the title reverts back to Nia's faction.
Overall, the reviewer rated the episode highly with a score of seven out of ten, praising the raw emotion and genuine animosity displayed throughout various segments, particularly in the Cody Rhodes versus Randy Orton feud which promised multiple high-stakes matches leading up to Money in the Bank. The host emphasized that while there were some puzzling elements regarding how certain storylines unfolded quickly or ended abruptly, the overall atmosphere of hate and competition made for compelling television. Looking ahead, fans can expect continued volatility with Cody embracing a darker persona without championship responsibilities, CM Punk facing Kevin Owens again at SummerSlam in Toronto, and Chelsea Green navigating her precarious position as champion against formidable opponents like Nia Jax and Tiffany Stratton.

What's good y'all? It's your boy Ross
back at again with another video. We got
to talk about what happened on this
episode of Friday Night Smackdown. I was
looking forward to this episode. We got
Kevin Owens as the new number one
contender for the WWE Undisputed
Championship. You got Randy Orton
returning and costing uh Cody Rose the
match against CM Punk at SummerSlam. Uh
how is Sami Zayn going to feel about
some of these things? some of these
storylines that I was really looking
forward to seeing where they were going
to go with it. And I'm not going to lie
to you, I was definitely satisfied with
some of the stuff that they have shown
us just so far. So, we're going to talk
about some of the the highlights of this
show and we definitely got to talk about
some things that was like, you know,
kind of puzzling, but you know, you kind
of have an idea where they're heading
towards with certain individuals. So,
we're going to talk about that. So,
first things first, started off the show
with um Cody Rhodess. Cody Rhodess comes
out there and he made it very clear.
He's like, "Look, man. Randy, uh I I'm
sure you're back there. Come on, Randy.
Come on out. Let's go ahead and settle
this. We don't need to talk much. Let's
go out here. Settle this. Come on out
here so we can do what we got to do." Um
because the last time we've seen Randy
Orton outside of SummerSlam, Randy Orton
had uh punt kicked my boy Cody's eye
into the back of his skull. So, you
know, Cody's been wanting to get his get
back. He won the match, but did he
didn't look like the winner, so he been
wanting to get his get back. And then as
he called out Randy, Randy didn't come
out there, obviously. So he calls out he
he says
he talks about how he felt that he's
sure that CM Punk didn't know anything
involving Randy Orton. He he feels like
he knows CM Punk had nothing to do with
Randy Orton being there. CM Punk heard
his name. He comes out there. CM Punk's
like, "Look, bro. Hey, if you got got a
question to ask me, you can ask me to my
face." And Cody's like, "Look, bro. did
you have any idea that Randy was going
to be involved? And CM Plum says, "Look,
I had no idea that was going to happen.
I understand that, you know, you're more
upset because of how things played out,
but I want you to know I'm upset with it
as well. And honestly, me and you, we
can be on our twoman power trip, go back
there, and find Randy Orton for
ourselves and beat his ass." And that's
when coach is like, "No, it's fine.
I'mma take care of it myself. We'll have
finish this this unfinished business
between us. We'll deal with this at
another time. I'm going to go deal with
it myself. I'm going to kick Randy
Orton's ass by myself." So, as Cody's
leaving, he uh CM Punk tells Cody, "Hey,
just, you know, just say when." He's
basically talking about, hey, whenever
you want to go back at it oneonone, just
say when. That's when Kevin Owens music
hit. And what I liked about this, Kevin
Owens has history with Cody Rose. Y'all
remember that feud they had um a while
ago where they were really going at it.
They had brought the winged eagle belt.
It was it was such a cool time. That's
honestly my favorite feud that Cody
Rhodess has had as champion in in in his
entirety in WWE outside of the Roman
Reigns stuff. So, um, so after that, you
see Kevin Owens walking down the ramp
and you see Cody walking up the ramp.
They don't say anything. Cody just gives
him the microphone. Gives him the
microphone and then KO walks down to the
ramp. And what I liked about this, they
were like talking trash to each other.
It was getting a little spicy, but
nobody could hear what they were saying.
And some of y'all were letting me know
in the chat, shout out to everyone that
was watching on YouTube, Patreon, and
Twitch. Some of y'all were letting me
know in the chat that Kevin Owens and
and CM Punk, they've had they've had
some issues with each other in the past.
They've had beef with each other. And I
always find it funny that for whatever
reason, CM Punk has some of the best
feuds with people he legitimately have
some real life issues with. He had a
great feud and match with Roman Reigns,
Seth Rollins, Drew McIntyre, now Kevin
Owens. It's like people he legit have
issues with. It's like the feuds be much
better because of it. So, I don't know.
But they were going back and forth. Then
you see Nick Aldis come out there and
then other officials as the promo goes
on starts coming out there and C's like
look I'm a professional you ain't got to
worry about me you ain't got to worry
about us we just we going to have our
conversation and they start going you
know having their conversation and you
know CM Punk's like you know why you
coming at me like that like what's this
hostility and Kevin Owens let it be
known like when you came back and said
you're a changed person and all this
other stuff and people are saying, "Oh,
CM Punk has changed."
I call BS. You're not changed. You
haven't changed at all. I I know for a
fact you haven't changed cuz you sit up
here with this this arrogant outlook and
you think you're the best in the world
and all this other stuff. You haven't
changed at all. In fact, you sat up here
and basically given Cody Rhodess another
title opportunity as if I am not the
number one contender. It's like you're
looking past me to Cody Rhodess. So, no,
you're not changed. You haven't changed.
And I thought that was a fair point. He
basically looked past him like he it's a
foregone conclusion. You're gonna beat
me. And I I like how Kevin Owens talked
about, man, you know, honestly, I'm I'm
I'm ready to wrestle whenever. You know,
I haven't been able to wrestle in 17
months, and I didn't know I was going to
be able to do come back to this, but I
was able to come back to this. I'm able
to do what I love, and people have
always overlooked me, and I've always
exceeded my expectation. So CM Punk
fires back and he basically said, "For
you to have this disdain for me, the way
you you view me, you know, pardon me for
wanting to believe in myself that I am
the best in the world. You know, if
anything, you should be saying thank you
and appreciate me cuz I'm the guy that
broke doors for you to get in. They used
to call me skinny fat." Do you think
they was looking for someone like you,
Kevin Owens? And he's talking about his
weight and how he looks. Like, you think
WWE was looking for Kevin Owens? Like,
come on now. And he he really started
cooking him like, "Hey, man. I'm the
reason why you're here. Like, you should
be kind of showing me a little bit more
respect." And I just love how Kevin
Owens doesn't give a damn. He's He's in
this mode of I hear what you're saying.
I honestly don't give a crap. And CM
Punk even really started to get into
kind of more of a like a you could say
in this situation he was coming off more
healish in a sense because he basically
told him like look if it wasn't for me
you would not be here. Everything all
the success and stuff that you've gotten
that's all because of me. Nobody was
worried about you. In fact, if it wasn't
for me, you'd be working a 9 to5 support
to support your family and your kids.
You would be asking me to get you some
WWE tickets to pull up to the show while
you're working the indies on the
weekend. Like, he started going in on
him. Like, so this is what it leads me
to believe like there is some real they
had some real life issues. They don't
really rock with each other. So, the
fact that he was bullied in on this, it
was just like, okay, I'm I'm I'm here
for the the personal beef. I'm here for
the hatred on Smackdown. I'm, you know,
I'm always here for that. So,
afterwards, Kevin Owens was like, "Look,
you know what? Thank you. Thank you." I
want to say thank you. And I want to say
the reason why I'm saying that because
now I know what not to be. I know not to
become bitter like you. I know not to to
have this type of mentality what the
wrestling business has done to you. I
know not to end up like you. And his
final point that he made, he said, "I I
don't want to end up becoming like you
and let this business turn me into a
piece of [ __ ] just like you." And he
said it live on air. Obviously, they had
to bleep it out, but I thought that was
a nice nice way, a nice exclamation
point to end the promo. Basically said,
I don't want to turn into a piece of
[ __ ] like you. So, when I beat you, I
know for a fact I'm going to be better
than you, a better person, a better
champion than you. And they started
getting into each other's faces.
Security and officials got in there,
agents and stuff. Uh Kevin Owens shoved
CM Punk and they had to separate them.
And I'm like, "Yep, this is what I want
to see. This is what I want to see. I'm
here for it. Smackdown full of hate.
Let's go. Thought that was a great
segment. Enjoying it. And uh later on in
the show, you see Kevin Owens and Sami
Zayn have their back and forth and
Sammy, you know, feeling some type of
way and wanting apologies from Kevin
Owens. And Kevin Owens like, "Bro, I I'm
sorry that, you know, things had
happened, but if you want to be honest,
you know, um you would have taken the
same opportunity." And if you really
want to be honest, the last person I
beat was you, you know, when I was here
and then I ended up beating you in the
uh in the match in the the number one
contendership. Like I pinned you to end
up winning the number one contendership.
But before he said all of that, he told
Dick Ais that he wants to face CM Punk
in Toronto. So, Friday Night Smackdown
on August 21st, the day after my
birthday, by the way. They're going to
have the one-on-one championship match
on Smackdown in Toronto. Can't wait for
that episode. Day after my birthday.
Perfect birthday gift to myself. So, I
can't wait to see how that plays out.
Will Sami Zayn get involved in that? I
would not be surprised. But
nevertheless,
um they're they're going ahead and doing
this championship match relatively soon.
The next PL isn't until October and I
think there's a Saturday night's main
event in September. So, they're going to
go ahead get this match out the way. Uh
CM Punk is definitely going to be a heel
in Toronto. They're going to boo him
because it's [ __ ] Kevin Owens in
Toronto. So, it'll be interesting to see
how that plays out. Uh next, I want to
talk about Baron Corbin versus Trick
Williams for the United States
Championship. had a rematch and it kind
of played out the same way it did for
SummerSlam. There was a ref distraction
as the ref I think Baron Corbin one
point in the match tried to bring the
title in. The ref stopped him and he
just threw the title out and as the ref
is distracted, the ref doesn't see it.
Baron Corbin picks up the title and he
hits Trick Williams over the head with
the title and ultimately he ends up
getting the win. And I do think this
will probably be the last time that
Trick Williams go for the United States
Championship. I heard rumors that
they're going to be more likely to push
him for the main event scene. So maybe
he could be one of the competitors in
the Money in the Bank ladder match and
maybe he could be one of the competitors
that could actually win. We will see.
But it does seem like they're going to
probably be moving him up the card. So
after that match, Baron Corman's talking
about people, you know, didn't believe
in me. the fact that y'all calling me an
underdog. I just came back, got the
title, United States Championship. Trick
Williams is never getting this title.
And anybody else, y'all don't want y'all
nobody else really want to smoke with
me. And then that's when he sees Carmelo
Hayes, Carmelo Hayes attacks him and
lets him know he has a United States
Championship match against Carmelo in
his hometown next weekend on Smackdown.
So, that should be a pretty fun match.
Do they put the title back on Carmelo? I
don't know. I don't know if they're
going to do that, but it should be a fun
match nevertheless. This was actually a
fun match tonight, too. Uh Trick
Williams versus uh Baron Cor uh Baron
Corman. I thought this was a solid match
as well. So, definitely enjoyed that.
Now, I want to get I kind of want to
skip all the way to the main event.
Well, this was like the co-main event.
It probably could have been the main
event segment. Uh, but this one's more
like the co- main event. So, Randy Orton
comes out there and before he can say
anything, Cody music hit. Cody had the
the the sweater the like the the the the
sweatuit on the tracksuit. He's ready to
go. He unzips it. He's ready to throw
hands. Randy don't want no smoke.
Officials come out there and Cody's
like, "Bro, what is this? What is this?
Come on, bro. We've been waiting for a
while. Come on. Let's run it. Like what
what are we doing? And this is where
Cody's like, "Bro, you owe me an
explanation. What the hell is going on?
What happened at WrestleMania? What
happened to SummerSlam? You owe me a
explanation." And then Randy started
snapping. He's like, "What explanation?
I don't know. You jack [ __ ] buddy.
Like, you asked for this version of me.
You asked for the very best version of
me." And for you to have the audacity,
the the arrogance to ask for that and
then get upset when things don't go the
way you want, like what I don't know
what else you wanted. And even then, the
best version of me, I still wasn't able
to win. So something snapped in my head
at Wrestlemania and then I ended up
making sure you was dropped down on all
fours and I punt kicked your head in.
And then that's when I realized
the worst version of me is only going
that's the only way I'm going to get
title number 15. So I don't really care
who all has the title. I don't care if
it's CM Punk. I don't care if it's Kevin
Owens. Just know the worst version of me
is getting number 15. and I'm going to
do everything in my power and my ability
to make sure that you never are the WWE
champion ever again. Loved it. He laid
it out. He He's going to make sure the
worst version of him is always out now.
The version that's willing to kick
people into the stratosphere. I'm here
for it. And he's going to do everything
in his power to make sure Cody never
finishes his story ever again. So, I
like this great fired up promo from
Randy. Cody fires back up. He's All
right, cool. I I don't think you
understand, Randy. Just I don't have a
title. So, there's nothing to hold me
back. There's no I don't have to look a
certain way. I don't have to be
presented a certain way. I can go and be
the bad guy. I can do that now, Randy.
So, if that's what you want, that is
fine. There's nothing holding me back
anymore. But the real question you got
to ask yourself, Randy, you're the last
legend here. You call yourself the
legend killer. You're the last legend
here. The real question is, who's going
to be the one to kill you? And I love it
because I it it for me seeing Cody say,
you know what, I don't have the title. I
don't have that burden of responsibility
to, you know, uphold a certain standard
or a certain image. I honestly
can sit up here and just grow as bad as
I want to. Now, will he actually do it?
I don't know. Only time will tell. But I
like the visual presentation of him
saying, "Hey, bro. I don't give a damn.
I have nothing to lose. I don't have a
problem going to that that that place
with you. So, if that's what you want to
do, fine. Let's do it. And I'm here for
it. I'm here for it. I'm here for the
idea of him wanting to kill the legend
killer. So, [ __ ] it. Let's do it. And I
hope this leads to multiple matches. And
I hope it leads to this this this grand
final match between these guys. Some
type of stipulation. And it just it we
get to that point we get to that point
where they want to destroy each other. I
want it to be a situation where
Randy Orton is living up to his word and
doing everything to stop Cody from
reaching the WWE title. And I want it to
be Cody Rhodess is doing everything in
his power to stop Randy Orton from
reaching the WWE title. And it gets to a
point where they have to come up with a
stipulation for a match that will end
the feud. I doubt it'll be another hell
in the cell because we just had one, but
they could find a way to come up with
another match where it builds up to that
that boiling point where this is it and
they they're going to try to destroy
each other. And I hope this feud
ultimately has Cody
embracing some of that darkness because
I feel like that would be a nice way to
enhance his character. He had to go to a
place that he normally doesn't go to to
get the job done. And maybe he has to do
that again to regain the championship.
Will they do it? I don't know. We've
been down this road before with Cody.
The last time they actually went down
this road for the most part, and I
thought it was entertaining and
effective, is when Cody packed up Kevin
Owens in that brutal I think it was an
Alabama slam through the ladder. He was
trying to murder him and I was all okay
with it. So, but overall, I did enjoy
that. And then they uh had the main
event with Jade versus um versus uh um
Charlotte and it was a one-on-one which
we knew it wasn't going to always be a
one-on-one because obviously Meech and
Beef Fab got involved and then that's
when Alexa Bliss comes out there but she
has like her arm in like this sling but
then she has the doll Lily and then she
uses her magical spell powers and turns
off the lights turning the lights back
on and uh Tatum Paxley is on the top
turnbuckle, dives off onto the baddies,
B Fab and Mein. And then towards the end
of the match, it was a couple of
botches. The whole um Sister Abigail
finishing move that um Charlotte tried
to use. It didn't really look too good.
like the timing was off on the sister
Abigail and then uh it timing was off of
Charlotte's finisher too because it
looked like Jade had to kind of just
flip over herself. So it was it was
definitely some miscommunication.
Definitely looked sloppy towards the end
but ultimately um Jade ended up taking
the loss. Charlotte Flair got the W
there. So, Charlotte is going to be
moving on, I don't know, probably to the
women's uh title scene and we have a new
uh person on the main roster in uh Tatum
Paxley. So, that should be interesting.
Heard a lot of great things, seen a few
of her matches. So, that we'll see what
they do with her on the main roster.
Also, before I end this this review, I
do got to talk about this. I forgot to
make mention of this. So, Chelsea comes
out there. She's not the interim
champion since we know uh Ria is injured
and she had to have surgery. They now
replaced the interim part. She is the
official women's champion. She has a
shirt that shows the you know the
officials women champion. So I thought
that was cool. She she was about to have
a great moment. She called out Tiffany
out there. I do think at some point
Tiffany will turn on her. Maybe. I don't
know. We'll see. That's when Fatal
Influence comes out there and basically
JC James talking about how uh Tiffany
cost her. So, she's want to go after
Tiffany's United States Championship
since she cost her the opportunity to be
in a ladder match to see who was going
to be the new WWE uh women's champion
and they decided to do a uh women's tag
team match uh on Smackdown. So
basically, the implications could have
been that Chelsea and Tiffany could have
both won the titles and they would have
had all the women's titles on Smackdown.
That's the women's tag team titles and
Chelsea with the WWE Championship and uh
Tiffany with the women's United States
Championship, but that didn't happen. Um
what's the name? JC Jane did get
involved in the match as I expected and
she ended up hitting um Chelsea and then
uh her tag partners end up well she
wasn't involved in the match but the the
tag they end up hitting a tag team
finishing move which actually looks
cool. I forgot the name of it. They hit
it on Chelsea and Chelsea got pinned
and I was like, "Oh,
okay."
Once that happened, I kind of knew, all
right,
yeah, this is not going to last long.
Even with Ria not coming back for a
while, yeah, she's dropping that title
soon. She got pinned. And it it pains me
to say this, but it's it gives me vibes
like they're gonna treat her like a joke
of a champion.
Like she got her good feel like her good
feel moment, but they're going to treat
her like a jobber, but happens to be the
women's world champion. The women's WWE
champion. They're going to treat her
like a jobber cuz she literally lost to
the tag team champion. She got pinned
on. That's crazy. your first night as
well your you know first Smackdown as
WWE champion you get pinned. That was
kind of crazy. I was not expecting that
at all. So it does look like they're
going to set up a match with JC Jane
versus Tiffany I think next week for the
United States Championship. Even though
if I'm JC Jane and one of my members
pinned the damn WWE champion I would
probably be going for that. But the
reason why that's not happening because
out of nowhere, Lash Legend attacks them
and that's where you see Nia Jax get
involved and she uh ends up getting the
WWE Championship and she's over there
taunting uh Chelsea. So, it does look
like they're going to set up Annia Jax
versus Chelsea Green for the WWE
Championship. I'm going to be honest
with you, I don't think Chelsea's
winning that. I think they're going to
put the title back on Nia. I don't think
Chelsea's winning that. I'm just being
honest. The way she just lo I would be
surprised if she somehow beats Na. But
the way she just lost tonight, got
pinned. Yeah, bro. Yeah, bro. Uh it it
was a good feel moment. It was a
SummerSlam moment. and it will be a
moment that she always remembers. But
most likely, uh, Chelsea Green will not
be a long-term champion. She will
probably end up being, unfortunately, a
transitional champion. But nevertheless,
this was Smackdown. Let me know how you
guys enjoyed the show. Uh, I gave this
show a solid seven out of 10. It was
some good moments. Moments I'm really
looking forward to seeing how things are
going to play out. Um, and I'm very
interested to see how this main event
scene is going to ultimately play out
going forward into uh, Money in the Bank
and beyond that. But hey, comment down
below. Let me know. Did you guys enjoy
the show? What you rate Smackdown on
scale of 1 to 10? But I appreciate all
love support. Road two 200K. Appreciate
y'all. You know me. See you on the next
one. Peace.
