She colored her bleached hair with markers!

Hello, beautiful. The way that people melt their hair, color their hair, cut their hair, and do it all kinds of [ __ ] up ways. Well, it's really entertaining, but also makes me sad because I want everybody to have great hair. And that's where I come in to help all you accomplish your hair dreams. The question is, will somebody get it right today? Okay, so I'm back and it's probably been at least 3 to 4 weeks cuz honestly I am not a pro when it comes to trying to dye my hair. Instead of dyeing one half of my hair cuz I had um I had hair parted [music] down the middle and bangs that I had cut myself. Instead of doing one side um yellow, which I literally still have the yellow hair dye, I just did the whole thing um black. [laughter] I don't know where she was going with that story, but I was listening and I [music] was waiting for the answer. Like, what? What? What are you going to say? Black. Okay. How did you go from yellow to black? So, we have no color experience at all. She doesn't feel confident in doing her hair yet. The title says dying a pink raccoon tail in my hair cuz I'm not getting any younger. Okay. >> Okay. And I usually don't um I keep saying um but whatever. I usually don't curl. I literally [music] cannot think of the right word. >> Girl, it's not going well so far. Okay, I got to be honest with you. Let's just get into the color. Okay, stop the dillydallying. >> This is what we're using. My husband got this for me. I'm a little bit worried because it says up to four levels lift without bleach. And I mean, look how dark my hair naturally is. It's [music] basically like the darkest brown you can get before it's black. >> Okay, we're fine. So, she's using permanent color. The reason why she's [ __ ] is cuz I think she's doing like a fashion color. Like, she's saying raccoon tail. She's going to be trying to do a fashion color or she's trying to do blonde stripes. You can't do that with permanent color. You got to get bleach out. Permanent color can only lift you a certain amount of levels. Like I said, four levels. Four levels for her from a level maybe. I would say she's probably like a two or a three. A seven is like my natural hair color, like the down here, like this stuff. But, it's not very light. So, I might end up with like orange hair. But to be fair, I'm not doing the whole head. I think I'm really just going to do like one kind of [music] thick strip. And if it turns out good, I might add a like kind of baby blue one. But I'm going to try to do a raccoon tail that's like hot pink. >> Do you guys ever wonder what it's like being a non-American speaker and learning English for the first time and [music] somebody says bright orange ass hair is the same thing as bright orange ass hair? I can't be the only one. >> Leave color on new growth root area for 40 minutes. Then apply to rest of the hair. Apply remaining product of your hair to a fresh color. Let develop no more than 5 minutes. Total timing is 45 minutes. >> Well, we're going to waste our time here. Um, and we're going to make put ourselves into a more difficult situation because she's going to use the permanent color. Fortunately, she's reading the directions, which I always love when you guys do cuz if you don't know what you're doing, read the directions. As somebody who actually participates in writing directions for my own hair products, we take a lot of care on writing the directions that you get the best results. Okay. >> Okay. I didn't know I needed to bring my measurements stuff up here, but I cook a lot. So, I think I can just eye it and figure out how to do it. I don't have a mixing bowl, so I'm bringing plastic bowl first before mixing it. Actually, [music] I should I have these random like hair clips I found in my cabinet. Luckily, maybe I should like section off the hair to kind of I do not know what I'm doing when it comes to like doing my hair. Like, I really don't. Maybe I'll do this so it at least like lays flat and I can like remind myself that like I'm supposed to be doing the slits. I I have no idea, man. >> Girl, if you don't have an idea, what do you expect I have? Like this is getting crazy already. What are we doing with these clips? I was like, "Oh my gosh, she's going to section her hair like awesome. This is so good. I love when people section their hair. I'm going to be so happy. I'm going to do a happy jump." No, I'm not. This is not a happy moment. I think she's doing clips to show where the [ __ ] tail stripes go. I don't know. But I do have aluminum foil from the kitchen that I'm going to try to use. >> What the [ __ ] >> And then maybe I like try to kick them in place with one of those. I don't know. >> Okay. I mean, that works for me. >> That feels fun. >> I mean, yeah, it's definitely a professional way to do it. Like honestly, like putting the the foil down and then putting clips to hold the foil is definitely something a professional would do. I don't see anything wrong with that. I just still don't understand where we're going with this, man. I don't know. Maybe I need like one more at the bottom. This is like going [snorts] just as I would have expected. [music] >> Really? I was hoping a little bit better for you. If this is how you were expecting, then go off. Okay, let's mix the developer now, I guess. So, it's supposed to be two teaspoons of developer cream with one teaspoon of color gel in a plastic bowl [music] or glass bowl. Okay. >> Okay, we're starting to apply the color and it's not looking like much. >> I think I made it too [laughter and gasps] I think I made it too thick. >> Okay. >> Okay. And I'm going to try to like keep a little line going. >> Okay. We are indeed doing the [ __ ] tail right now. And she started right on her roots. The part that you're never supposed to start on. She started on the roots. That's bad because her roots are going to be so bright. Like they're most likely going to take this permanent color and just go boop so bright. And then the midsections and ends of her hair are going to be like not quite there at all. So her roots are going to be like three times brighter than the rest. That's going to be awful looking and not ideal. Kind of like that. And I started my timer. I don't know if this is even going to like be able to lighten my hair to be honest with you. And I'm already like >> it's not >> What the hell are they talking about? One one [music] teaspoon. >> Is she using water to color her [laughter] hair? There's nothing in that bowl. >> Well, I didn't think about it. I'm going to have to do like the underside, too. What? Let me just focus on the top right now. Oh, this is just getting worse and worse and worse. Maybe about right there. Okay, so if you want to do this properly, what I would do is mix up some 30 volume or 40 volume with powder lightener. Then I would just actually section this out correctly, [music] make the parts all straight. I would start on the bottom of the section, work my way up, do paper thin slice of hair, lay on the foil, paint my lines, bring on another paper thin section of hair, paint the lines in the same place, and keep on doing that until you reach the top of the section. And then you are complete. What you can do is put clean wrap in the top of the section so you can actually see what's going on through with the wrapping and you know when your hair is done processing but you still keep the heat in your hair. >> That's how you do it. >> Right. Right. >> I've never done a freaking raccoon tail. >> We know. We can tell. We know. >> There's no way that these measurements were accurate because like really a teaspoon for all this hair. I think I'm going to go like a bit thick with the sectioning. So I know I have to do the bottom of the hair too. I'm using the light [music] to kind of figure out how to do the spacing because I can't easily see the side of my hair. I mean, I assume I'm supposed to do the bottom, right? Maybe I should have just been doing it like as I was going like the bottom part of the hair. [music] It's going to be like a bit uneven. Ooh, I think I made that one a bit longer. I'm I'm really hoping that it does actually lighten my hair, but this is like so freaking unorganized. I cannot I think I'm now dying a huge strip in my hair. [screaming] >> What in the [ __ ] is going on? Why did you color a 2in section of your hair when you were doing 1in sections on the top of your hair? Why are we getting worse? Usually you're supposed to progress and get better as you keep going and doing your hair. >> Cuz of the freaking curl. Okay, maybe I just do the rest of the tip. Like the freaking wave coming back. She ended up just doing the entire tip of her hair, like four or five inches of hair. She said, "Fuck, it's the [ __ ] tail." She said, "I'm just going to The bottom is going to be colored." She don't give a [ __ ] >> Okay, I'm just going to like do it on my hand like that because I can actually [music] see it. >> Girl, your hair's not even processing. You're not. Meanwhile, nothing's even happening. Like, the top of her hair has not budged even a little bit. It is still the same color as she started with. Put it down. Check out what's going on. And stop. Now she's going and coloring the underneath of her hair. It just keeps getting worse. We're going down my favorite hill rapidly. We're falling down the Eiffel Tower. >> We're falling down a landfill pile. We're falling down your mama. We're now just going in and painting the underneath. Just going at it. Like we're we're not even like we're not sectioning anything. We're just painting the top and the bottom. Somehow the middle is supposed to get colored. I don't know how, but in her mind, it's going to get colored. >> Okay, use the light to show. It is lightning, but like not nearly enough. Bro, it's been BASICALLY 2 HOURS. >> 2 HOURS? [laughter] WHAT? This has been on your head for 2 hours. B, TAKE IT OFF. IT'S DONE. I know that box didn't say process for 2 hours. Take it off. It's not doing anything. You're wasting your time. [laughter] It's literally a half a shade lighter. You need bleach. I have to buy bleach. I HAVE TO BUY freaking bleach. I have to spend more money. Okay, this video is not going to be finished tonight. I actually got bleach this time. >> Okay, we're on to day two and we have the bleach now. >> I don't have the metal bowl and Okay, so it said two parts. >> Sorry. What is with everybody in smelling everything? I understand it's like the the sense of smell is like an important part of being a human, but like why are we smelling developer and everybody does it. They're like they or they'll mix the bleach and they'll go ow like it burns their nostrils. Like why are you doing it? I don't understand. Somebody let me know. What is that? >> I just got the same brand Clarall cuz I figured that would work best with the bleach. I'm [gasps] I'm really scared, but there's this is no time to be a [ __ ] about it. Okay. So, I'm going to do two of these. And realistically, I should have put my gloves on already, but I'm going to put them on in just a second. >> Well, now she has color in her hair. And she's going to use 20 volume in an open air application. Well, she might put a foil on top, but the foils are not like folded or there's still air getting to it. The her hair is going to be still orange because 20 volume is not enough. 30 volume, 40 volume would have been great. So, she's doing the same thing again, but starting from the bottom now. She changed her mind. She's starting from the bottom. Half of her head over there is like a warm brown color now because of the permanent color. And we are going in with the coail concept still. I love the commitment. I love that you're still doing it. She just put her head down. I I'm at a loss for words. I didn't even see the top of her head. There is issues everywhere. Like it's the most random section just colored a light brown color. Um >> this is I don't want like Brad Palumbo to like not Brad Palumbo. Oh my gosh. Wrong freaking one. She was about to say, "I don't want bra to watch this." Um, hi. >> Hi. How are you? >> I'm watching it. Um, [laughter] every line she puts on this head gets worse. It is a mess. She said she was going to talk through the whole thing so she doesn't have basically an anxiety attack because this is coming out so [music] crazy and bad. Just stop at this point. Get a hair extension. I say this every week now. There's so many raccoon tails we're seeing. Is this a resurgence of [ __ ] tails? Just buy an extension piece and put it in your hair. I need a little break. >> I need a [ __ ] break. You I need a break. This is so stressful. Now you have one line going diagonal down your head and then you have another line horizontal and they're almost conjoined. Dude, I fear if we can't put stripes in our hair, we should just stop. Oh my god. We just lifted up a 2-in wide section and just painted the underneath. The middle of that section, [ __ ] it. The middle of the section is not going to get colored, but at least we have the top and the bottom. >> Oh my gosh. Like, oh my gosh. I'm being such a wimp about this. I >> You should be. You should just honestly, we should stop. Okay, >> I'm going to put some aluminum foil. Try my best to separate the hair from the other hair. You know, I know I'm doing this messily. There's definitely better ways, but this is going to be the way for now. And now I'm going to wait a bit. I could tell it's definitely lightning. Um, but I'm just I got to wait. I got to wait. It's been almost 20 minutes with it on, but I'm going to add some more to the roots. Kind of just like that. >> Oh my god. Your roots are not supposed to be light. It's supposed to go dark, light, dark, light, dark, light. Not light, dark. You start with dark. These lines are touching everywhere. She also just waited for her hair to process for maybe like 20 minutes and then decided I'm going to do the roots now. [music] Um well, it seems like we're adding a stripe behind the stripes. vertical stripe, not a horizontal one. All right, this is your palette. This is your canvas. You create what you want with it. Unleash your inner artist. I hope that's juice. It looks like it's juice, but it could be wine. It also looks like cranberry juice. I don't know how old she is, but I hope she's not drinking because we're going to go again down the hill. I don't want to go down it again. The hill is steep and it's getting steeper and we're almost at the bottom. We couldn't actually be any further in the depths of hell right now. I don't know. We came back and we just started painting the [ __ ] bleach on the other side onto wet hair. Okay. When you have your hair wet, it's automatically going to dilute the formula. It's going to make it much less powerful. You want to have your hair dry when you bleach it, unless you're doing a bleach bath for only specific reasons. Don't just put a bleach bath on because I said that. Okay, there's very specific time to use a bleach bath. I'm not going to go over it today because I go over it every single week, but I don't know what is going on. Also, obviously, the side we just did does not look good. Lines everywhere. >> Second round of bleach. [sighs] That's all there is to say. We keep putting the bleach on different spots every time. So, if you're going to do multiple rounds of bleach, you have to bleach the exact same spots every time. Or else they're not going to get lighter. You're just going to start lightening spots that were dark and you're going to end up with one strand of blonde just going through your hair. And that's what we're doing. It's been on for about 35 to 40 minutes. I think it looks all right. Like, it looks lifted enough this time to add color. I didn't redo the roots. I'll just redo the roots when they're a bit thicker. Um, okay. >> So, here's my hair starting out for today. I do have like jet [music] black, but I think it might make more sense to do like a very dark brown and make [music] the raccoon tail part more apparent, especially on this side. But yeah, I am going to finally do the hair dying part today. >> Okay. Okay. Well, we ended up with most of our head just blonde and we lost the brown. She's going to try and paint it back in though, like she said, with semi-permanmanent color, which at this point, go off. You're going to do something to paint the lines back in because they're gone. >> I am going to just use off the rest of my um my phone just sucks so freaking much. I I can't like I the amount of that I just had to delete. that around. >> We are doing a bright pink which okay fun. I feel like it's giving my [music] shirt a lot right now and I'm I'm into it. But my other question is why didn't we go like all the way to the front of the hair? Like you have a little strand in here that is brown and then it ends up blonde halfway down. Huh. But the pink looks really vibrant which is fun. All right. She's getting through that section and I was hoping our technique would improve by now. She started off putting the stripes in and then she like goes into the section behind the stripes and then just starts painting vertically instead of horizontally. Want to rip my skin off right now. Oh my god. It might turn out a bit like green honestly because my hair didn't lift up as much as I hoped. I might end up getting [music] 40 volume cuz I was using 30 trying to damage my hair a little bit less. But maybe it would have been worth the damage but a little too late now. Some of it's going to be kind of like mixed cuz [music] I don't care at this point. >> It's all going to be mixed. The blue is also very dark, too. So, thank god these colors are pigmented because it's going to help conceal all that kind of orange and yellow weird going on underneath. I just don't know why we couldn't [music] just pick a vibe, you know, like paint this part pink and this part blue. Maybe it'll be cool. Maybe it'll be like a tie-dye vibe. I don't know. All right, we moved on to the other side of the head. And that side is just getting a full blue treatment. So, let's finish that up and we'll see the final result. >> Okay, so the purple flopped and I clearly didn't get it on everything, but it's okay. Um the purple doesn't even look purple. Looks blue. Okay, so we got to get um stronger developer next time. But this part I think turned out pretty [clears throat] okay. Um I really like the pink. And you know, the blue came out more like a teal. I like it. Just something to do. and I haven't dyed my hair in 5 years. So, felt like it was time to start doing it again. >> Okay, let's just get the bad out there. It's not perfect and um I feel like it's barely what she envisioned in the first place and it's barely what I envisioned with the co and tail didn't really work and the color is all over the place. On to the good part. I think it's fun overall. I think it's it's whimsical. It's creative. It's art. It's whatever you want it to be. I feel like she is showing her inner self through her hair now, and I enjoy that a lot. I enjoy that much better than just having brown hair that she doesn't resonate with. So, I prefer this look over the look before. We'll get it better next time. We'll put the black between the pink so it's actually a cool tail. And we'll do, you know, sectioning. She's going to get a solid two for that one. Yeah, that's best I can do. Sorry. All right, let's see what you guys sent me on Tik Tok and Instagram and everything this week. She said she's going to mix them with water, put it in a spray bottle, and then spray color her hair with them. I'm very intrigued. Oh my god, her hair is so pretty and so long. I believe this is all her natural hair. It goes down to here. I feel like it's probably not her natural hair, but we're going to see in a minute. Um yeah, let's just I guess see what she does with this color. Okay, this is interesting. So, she's opening up the markers, taking out the ink cartridges or whatever you call them, putting two of them in a bottle with water, mixing it, and then she's going to color her hair with it. So, that's a whole lot of work and a lot of steps. And she has so much hair. This is going to take forever. But, I feel like the payoff I was going to say the payoff will be good, but I'm like, this is just [ __ ] darker. Why don't you just use hair color? Call me crazy, but like why not, you know? That doesn't look to be doing much. We're getting very little color saturation on her hair. It's looking kind of just like a pastel color. So, hopefully she does a little bit more than that because I'm a little disappointed so far. First of all, her hair is extensions. I lied. It It's not all her natural hair. I don't know why. It was [music] wishful thinking. What a platinum blonde has hair down to her ass? I'm nobody at all. for Okay, we've now resorted to inserting our hair into this concoction of marker and then taking the other marker and coloring our hair directly with it. She doesn't give a [ __ ] about her hair. Not even a little bit. I mean, it is a dye, so it will go in your hair essentially. Um, I don't know what the long-term effects of this is going to be. Like, I don't know if it's going to stay long or wash out in a few rinses. I don't know, but I'm still intrigued. [music] >> [music] >> She is dead ass just taking that marker and coloring her hair like a coloring book. That's commitment. Is she going to do her entire head like this? Oh my god. No, this is all over your head. Next time, just use some Xodo color. Super red. It'll actually be red and it'll actually just go on your hair very evenly and nicely and easily and it'll deep condition your hair and you'll get better hair post coloring. I don't know why you're doing this. It is dripping on her face and her eyes now. >> [music] >> I don't think it's going to stop dripping. That's the issue here. Like, it's just going to keep on dripping into her eyes this entire time. We have now opened the orange. So, we have the front colored pink, I suppose. I don't know how it got so saturated. Like, now it looks saturated. I don't know. Now it looks like it's going to work. [music] My girl is committed to the bit. I mean, this takes so much work. Imagine the mess in person. Like, it is all over her already. And she's only done the front of her hair. [music] >> [music] >> Okay, so she's now pouring burning hot water basically on her hand and then blowing the color out of the little ink tube again. The commitment to this is a next level. Wo! [music] By the way, absolutely no gloves, of course. We are just raw dog in our hands. We're going to get them all stained and nice. Just how I like it. I love to see it every single [ __ ] week of my life. [music and singing] >> [music] >> So, it looks like we're going with the orange right back here in front of that pink section, which okay, it's going to be like stripey rainbow extensions luckily take color really well. They color like that. They pick up on everything. I don't know what that is. It's definitely the types of chemicals that the hair extensions are treated with. [music] It just really attracts color for some reason. I got to look into that. But, it's going to be pigmented. pigmented. Yeah. >> [music] >> Oh, so that's a lot more pigmented than before. That looks way better. I mean, now we're getting really deep orange. Oh my god. And she luckily doesn't have to actually color it by hand. Well, like with the marker, [music] like on her hair. I mean, obviously by hand, but like this is a lot easier. I just think she needs to [ __ ] home comb it throw after this video is over. Buy a comb. Okay. [music] Oh, you type B people should have a like like I don't know a type B person day because I don't know how you do it. I don't know how you do anything you do. Sometimes I've had one stain from like coloring my hair. I have one stain on one finger right here for 2 days. Guys, I'm telling you, my life feels like it's over. I sit there scrubbing it for 2 hours because I can't stand to look down and have a stain on MY FINGER. Y'ALL BE COLORING YOUR ENTIRE BODIES. [music] This brings up a good topic. Liquid color, spray color like this. It can definitely be done with professional grade color. You can put literally just pigment in a spray bottle like this and color your hair with it. I have thought so many times of making a sprayon color that goes and it's semi-permanmanent. How cool would that be? But then you think about the logistics of [music] it and you go, "Oh yeah, that's why nobody did that." Because it would be a horrible, crazy mess. [music] Look at her orange hands. [music] >> [music] >> Okay, so she just finished the green. This color palette is actually insane. I don't know what's more insane, coloring your hair with markers or doing pink, orange, yellow, and green hair. Now she's going to do blue, indigo, and violet. So, we're going to do the whole [ __ ] rainbow. >> [music] [music] >> Is that turquoise? Cuz I'm kind of sad that she's doing like another green color next to the last green color. I feel like I would love for her to switch it up now. Like where's the blue? It's very turquoise. But I feel like it's also mixing with her hands and the previous color and everything is just getting everywhere. Imagine if she did like just a splat color. Like I've done that before with squirt guns. It was on my channel a long time ago. But it'd be cool if she just kind of sprayed [music] this color all over her hair, different colors, and then just like left it and shampooed it and had like spray colored hair. Do you know what I [music] mean? Do you think that'd be cool? Let me know. Oh my god. She is [ __ ] covered covered in hair color like head to toe. Holy sh. It is all over her clothes. [music] Oh my god, it keeps getting worse. What [laughter] the [ __ ] It is dripping down her entire arm. Oh my god. Why did we just do green? Oh, we still have one section in the back. Okay, but why is it so much green? Like, that's what I don't understand this color palette at all. [music] >> [music] >> I'm also just so confused why she keeps piling the hair on top of her head like that. Why not just leave it down? What are we getting out of the piling thing? Like, why are we just clipping everything together? I feel like these colors are going to run into each other as well if you do it like that. So, definitely not a good idea. We are finally doing the blue. Thank god we needed this. Wow. [music] You guys, that's the first time she stood up and it's down to here. Her [ __ ] hair is down to her hips. This is going to be crazy. I hope it comes out good because if this comes out good, she will have this beautiful Rainbow Pony moment and I'm going to be like, Oh my gosh, >> it does look really fun and satisfying to do. I'm not going to lie. Like it does. Like if you really want to just make a [ __ ] mess, maybe just do some spray bottle hair dye if you want. The difference between using something like Xono Color versus like a marker is well our products are tested to go in hair and have the ingredients that are meant for the hair first of all along with all the health benefits but you're getting a hydrating based color rather than just ink on your hair and you don't have the mess like this. So you can do either really but uh I would definitely choose the semi-permanmanent exon color route if it was me. for [music] Oh my god, the hands with the hair with the sweater. Like it is a whole moment. It It's like a work of art. Like her entire body right now is just a work of art. Um it's pretty. It's very a lot, but it's pretty. Shut the [ __ ] up. Do you just see how much hair she has left in the back of her head? Girl, do you have enough hair in your head? Because I thought you were done. You pull out an entire bun back here that is about this thick. Oh my god. Damn. I'm a little sad about this purple though. It's very light purple. It's very um lavender color. I'm not loving it. Yeah. Like I do wish it was just very pigmented, punchy purple. That's what I want here. But I'm not getting it and I'm very sad about it. Okay, we have the purple all saturated. I think that's purple. I don't know what the [ __ ] color she's on. I lost track. Hopefully she's doing violet because that's the last color in the rainbow. So when she turned her head, all I could see was missing spots everywhere. Like all these little blonde spots going around her head. I hate to see it. If we have any missing spots, it's going to be like right in your face. [music] >> Wait, no. Now we're doing Violet. I'm lost. I I thought she did indigo a long time ago. I thought she did the blue already. I don't know. Maybe it's just me. I am kind of sweating. It's really hot in here and I'm losing it a little bit. So, maybe she already did it. But now we're doing the violet. Thank god. I also just keep thinking her hair is done and then she whips out another section. I just don't know where they're coming from. >> [music] >> Oh, that one's very pigmented. Overall, that one is the best I've seen yet. Like, she got it down. It only took her five sections to get to this violet one till it actually ended up working correctly and getting nice saturation. All right, we got our purple section all complete. It's going to be more than just highlighting my head because I want to make as much of it blonde as possible. So rather than like weaving each section, I'm just going to take slices [music] and they're going to be back to back and I'm basically going to be like as blonde as possible in one process, [music] I guess, cuz I don't want to bleach on top of my bleach. So, this is just going to be like how I do it all in one go. So, yeah. So, the first thing is I've sectioned off from my crown to my ears and I've just put that in two flaps which I've clipped [music] in place cuz then I I think this is going to take me quite a while to do the back. So, I don't want to have to keep be like clipping them up and this was just the easiest way to get everything out of my face. >> Okay. So, the title says she's going from brown to blonde and it's an extreme transformation. So, I'm guessing very very light blonde. She is starting at the bottom of her hair and she's doing beautiful sections which I'm so happy about. Yeah, I mean this is going to be a huge undertaking to do herself. I don't know how she's going to accomplish this. Her hair is naturally pretty dark. I mean not that dark, but she has a whole lot of hair and it's multicolored. She has some grownup balayage or something going on and she's about to try and make this I don't know a solid blonde or something. Platinum, I don't know. And so I had all of this hair down at the back and I've just sectioned off from my ears backwards. [music] And this section is going to be the first section that I'm dealing with. So I'm using the Olex standalone treatment [music] which is £950. It comes with the part one and part two and it's just like good for a single use. Just going to start by adding the part one to my bleach mixture. >> I love a bond builder in a bleach formula. If it's going to help my hair, I'm going to try it. you know, we don't know what your hair would look like without it. So, you never know actually if it did much, but the insurance is there. That's how I like to think about it. If you can afford it, do it. You know, put the bomb builder in the formula. >> Yeah. Basically, all I'm going to do is I'm just going to split that hair in half. And then I'll just start [music] with this one section here behind my ear. And I'm going to direct all of the hair forwards and pop a foil as close to behind my ear as possible so that I can keep the tension [music] nice and tight and make sure that my foil doesn't slip out of place. So, I'm not very concerned with the roots. I don't really care how they look. I'm just trying to get [music] as all of my ends covered as much as possible. And then at the end, I'm going to go in with like a root drag anyway. And the hair on the top, like where my parting is and that sort of stuff, that's where I'm really going to concentrate on the roots and making sure that it's like a really nice blend. >> Hold on a second. I need to read something really quick. I need to read this description. Yeah, she is a professional hairdresser. This is going to be good. The foil she just did, I was like, "Wo, woah, woah, woah. How did she just do that that easily and that cleanly?" And she's doing vertical foils, which is going to create a lot of diffusion and make a really pretty result. >> I'm going to be directing every section of hair forwards so that I can see what I'm doing the entire time. And also taking these diagonal vertical sections means that even if my blend to the root isn't completely perfect and seamless, I won't get any harsh horizontal lines, which will be really visible when I've got my hair out. I'm also going to make sure that I fold all of my foils properly. Sometimes you could be lazy and just fold them in half and then fold it in half again. But I'm going to make sure that I'm folding the sides of each foil in as well because that's going to make sure that my lightener doesn't [music] dry out, but also it's just nice and secure. Okay, it seems like she's going platinum because she is not leaving any hair out between the foils. If this was all she was doing was just wanting to do like a dull process, a much easier way of doing this would just be to use say a 30 or 40 volume and just bring the bleach all through the hair open application, apply cling wrap all over that section to let it process or just paint everything horizontally and just lay down big sheets of foil. I would rather use my hands if it was my own hair, you know. I should put a disclaimer up though. Every hairdresser has a different technique. [music] It's totally fine. I'm not saying I'm right. I'm just purely analyzing what she's doing. And sometimes when you do things with hair, hindsight is 2020. You look back, you're like, why did I even do it like that? >> So, that's the first half done. And then I'm just going to do exactly the same thing to the other side. Watching this video back, the sections that I was taking were definitely not as thin as they felt. So, that's just something to consider if you're doing it on yourself. And you feel like you've taken a thin section, probably half it. >> See, she's already calling herself out. She knew those those sections were not thin enough at all. >> Wow. So, that's how much it's lifted already. And now we're just going to move on to the next section up, [music] which is this top section. I'm going to just put that click there just to kind of keep them all in place. And then I'm going to move up a section. And then I'm just going to go in with exactly the same um technique as last time. So, the pre- lightener that I'm using is by the brand L'Oreal Professional and it's the eight level lift lightener. And I'm going in with the 20 volume developer. I mean, okay, she's doing the same thing again on this next section. I just think you're over complicating this. Like, I always say this every week, like I'm not really a big fold the foil type of guy unless I need to. I'm not really folding [ __ ] Like, I'm just laying the hair down, laying another foil on top, moving on with my life. If this was my own head of hair, I would definitely just do the technique where I use my hands, comb everything through section by section, just let it all be out in the open. Let that process, if it doesn't lift high enough, I rinse it out and I apply again. but she's still going to get a good result doing it like this. >> Because I am putting my hair in a foil, I don't want to go in with a 30 vol. I think that's just going to be a bit harsh on my hair, especially for the first foils that I'm putting in because they'll probably be in for a while. So, I'm going to go in with my 20 vol and also with odlex. That is just going to maintain as much of the integrity of [music] the hair as possible. So, I'm going with a low peroxide and then I'm also going in with odex. Now, she has an issue here because she has to rinse out the back section by herself before [music] she rinses out all this because she did the back and by the time she gets to the front, it's going to be another hour and the back's going to be done. So, how are we going to rinse that out? What's the plan there? >> I'm going to start taking out these bottom ones cuz I don't want them to overprocess. The reason I'm doing slices instead of weaving is because my goal is to be as blonde as possible in one process. So, going from brown to blonde is never going to be the exact perfect color in one go. But if you imagine that a weave is a 50/50 split, so you've got 50% brown and 50% [music] of the hair is going into a foil. Okay, now I'm going to take out this side. So that means the lightener is only going to be lightening 50% of my hair and the rest will be left dark. So overall, the color won't be as light. So going in with slices just means that I'll be getting as much coverage as possible, which is just going to be the fastest way. >> I mean, yeah, you're doing a double process. We're not really highlighting the hair here. We're just doing a double process. That's why she's not doing weaves. And then now I'm going to work on this top section here. This top section is going to be really important because it's going to sit over all of these parts. So this is going to be like the top most visible outer layer, if that makes sense. So these foils I'm going to [music] weave like highlights rather than just um like taking slices. And I'm going to be a lot more careful to take really small fine sections. >> Well, now I'm fully confused because again prefacing this by saying whatever you want to do is your prerogative. >> [music] >> you know, do you have fun with it and you're the hair stylist as well? I just don't really understand why you would want the bottom of your hair to be the lightest [music] and then you start weaving on the top. Unless she's going to take a toner and tone down the underneath of her hair to a darker color and leave the top light. I'm sticking through it. Let's keep understanding what's going on. I don't know her full process yet, so I'm listening >> because, as I say, I want it to be like really nice and well blended. So, that's what I'm going to do. Starting here, I'm just going to take little diagonal sections across the whole section. So, there's not going to be like I'm not going to come back on myself. I'm just going to go like this and just continue to go back and back and back. And as I said, I'm going to take really small sections. >> She's going to do this herself. Oh my god, I would die. Oh my god. Okay, so she's doing a weave slice, weave slice, I think. Or she's just leaving out like a couple of hairs in between. I don't know. It's hard to tell what's going on, but she's putting in the work and only leaving a few strands out. Like she said, she wanted to be as blonde as possible, and baby, this is going to get her there for sure. So, she's taking that brush with bleach on it and raking it through the ends of her hair. That way, she has a sort of ombre on the pieces she left out, going from brunette to blonde. I mean, she's only going to have a few of those natural pieces left, >> right? So, I didn't get this all on camera properly. Basically, what I did here is I just removed all of the foils that were at the back of my head from both sides. So, the only foils that I had left were the ones on the crown of my head at the very top because those were the most recent ones that I done. and like the bleach I put through the ends were still developing. So I left those ones in. I took the bottom ones out and I washed them and then I towel dried them and I just platted them to get them out of the way. So for the front section of my hair, I'm going to work in three sections. So I'm going to go through my parting here and then I'm [music] going to take two sections up the side and then everything underneath here is going to be pretty solid blonde so [music] that it blends in with the back which of course is also solid blonde. And then just on the top here I'm going to do foils. So there's going to be brown blonde brown blonde brown blonde. So, she rinsed out the back and now she's doing the front because she applied the back first. She rinsed that out first. That's what I always tell you guys to do >> is I'm just going to take all of the ends that I've left out in my highlights. And I'm going to run some bleach through the ends just to lighten them up that bit more so that it does blend in with the ends of my hair a little bit more. And yeah, that's what I'm going to do. So, I'm going to work first of all, I'll section this part out of the way, this section here. And then I'm going to work up the sides of my head first [music] and then I'll do the top last. All right, we've made it to the front. We're doing some more diagonal foils. Oh my god. I mean, she just keeps going. But she really is just like retouching her uh new growth right now. All that brown hair and not really going on that existing blonde hair. And that's going to prevent her from having breakage occur. We don't want to bleach hair that is already blonde because it's already blonde. If we bleach it again, it'll break off >> and you will die. >> Okay. So then these parts here, I'll probably tease it a bit and then put some of the blonde through the ends. But I'm actually going to do the ends of this [music] now just so that they all develop at the same time and I can wash them out together. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to take a foil and just place it underneath here. Now clip it in place. I'm just basically going to just like blayage this section. So we'll start with teasing it a bit. And then I don't want it to be like a solid line where the blonde starts because then it just won't look natural when it falls out. >> All right. She's repeating the same process on the other side of her head. Oh my god, you have a thousand foils in your head already. And the process isn't even done. This is what it takes to do professional level color at home. This much work. >> And then you just want to take another slice directly behind that. Really fine. You want to make sure you're getting right into that [music] point there at your parting. And then for this section here, I'm going to take a small weave. So, a really, really fine weave. And then I'll just do the same on this side. >> [music] >> And then I just connect the two in the middle with another highlight. >> So she's middle parting it and she's doing a mohawk section [music] of highlights on both sides of her head, but she's also doing them sort of at a diagonal um as she gets past these front pieces. That way it's a little bit diffused and she gets more of a sheet of color going through her hair instead of just lines going through. That's the difference between doing it horizontally [music] perfect going up like this versus diagonally like this. Also, please don't be like me and please actually wear a top that you [music] don't like or a color cape because I don't know why I didn't do that and I've ruined this top. >> All right, we're finishing up the top section and I am so excited for her to be done. This has been like therapy for me so far. I feel [sighs] a sense of relief. I get to watch an actual professional work. I don't let I don't treat myself to that a lot, but when I do, I love it. >> Okay, so now all of my foils out. I'm just going to wash my hair and then tone [music] it. I'm just going to put a 912 all over it and then I'll be back. Okay, so my hair is um blonde, but it's a bit late and I'm just going to go to bed. I'll do my hair and makeup and stuff tomorrow. I'm blonde. >> Okay, so she's rinsing it out. I think she's doing the toner and we're going to see the final look. >> Okay, so this is the finished hair result. Um I'm really really happy with how the color came out. It was exactly basically how I hoped the color would come out. But yeah, I'm really pleased. I feel like condition of my hair actually shockingly is not bad at all. And I definitely put that down to Ollex and I put that down to just making sure that you're taking out the foils as and when they need to come out. But yeah, for the most part, I'm really really happy with how this turned out. >> Holy [ __ ] it came out 10 times better than I was expecting. That creamy champagne beautiful glistening blonde color is a dream. It almost looks healthier than what she started with. Do I think it would have been easier to just dual process the entire head like I keep saying and then do a root drop after? Yes. I mean, the way that she did it is definitely beautiful.
