Searching for my Dead Wife at 18fps (EMOTIONAL) | SH2 Remake VR
Watch on YouTubeVideo summary
The creator returns with a highly emotional exploration of *Silent Hill 2 Remake* in virtual reality using the UEVR mod, aiming to experience the game at its intended low frame rate of roughly eighteen frames per second. Although his current hardware setup struggles significantly due to recording software like OBS running simultaneously on a mid-range graphics card, he manages to navigate iconic locations such as Neely's Bar and Andy's Tool Shop. The video captures the intense atmosphere created by dense foliage, dynamic lighting effects, wind-blown traffic lights, and interactive audio details that only become apparent when viewed up close in VR, offering a glimpse into what high-fidelity virtual reality gaming could achieve on platforms like PSVR 2 if optimized correctly.
Despite technical limitations causing frequent stuttering and potential crashes, the narrator expresses deep awe at the game's AAA-quality visuals and immersive storytelling elements. He highlights how the medium allows players to notice small details often missed in traditional playthroughs, such as blood soaking into wooden planks during melee combat or the specific placement of camera angles for dramatic cutscenes. While he admits that some mechanics feel clunky, particularly physical weapon swings which resemble Wii Sports interactions rather than realistic gunplay against sexualized monsters, the sheer density and realism of the environment provide a profound sense of immersion that transcends typical gaming experiences.
The creator also addresses the technical hurdles involved in running these demanding titles on current hardware while streaming or recording gameplay simultaneously. He explains how UEVR utilizes rendering techniques to reduce GPU load by duplicating images for each eye, yet even with optimizations like Unreal Injector and Mr. Survivor's VR Hub, performance remains precarious during resource-intensive moments. Despite the instability of his specific setup, he encourages viewers interested in similar experiences to try converting other supported games like *GTA San Andreas* or *Dead Island 2*, noting that these tools make entering virtual reality accessible with just a few clicks for those who own the base PC versions.
Ultimately, this video serves as both a technical demonstration and an emotional tribute to the potential of VR horror gaming before hardware limitations force him to conclude his session. The creator acknowledges that while his footage may appear jagged or unstable due to recording constraints, it authentically represents the struggle and beauty found in pushing current technology to its limits. He plans to edit together usable segments from this chaotic run for a future upload, hoping that once upcoming updates improve rendering efficiency, he will be able to share smoother recordings of these haunting worlds without sacrificing his own sanity or the integrity of the experience.

And we are back.
A little bit framy, but nothing crazy.
We might get a few minutes out of this,
I mean.
Even if it crashes, even if it
underperforms,
I mean, look where I am. I'm in Neely's
Bar. I'm in the iconic room where the
window
There was a hole here. It's gone now.
Okay, is it?
They're calling that one of the most
iconic bits of graffiti in all of
gaming. I have all the pieces for this
puzzle here. But, yeah, I don't know if
this game is going to
going to handle me recording this
and playing at the same time. Now,
there's going to be an update coming
from a gentleman or a gentlewoman. I'm
not too sure about the gender of this
but they're going to be going by the
name of Your Derek.
And Your Derek have some kind of update
coming out that's going to change the
rendering technique of Unreal Engine
vector games, you know, Unreal VR games.
UEVR is what I'm trying to say. Uh where
basically instead of rendering both
images, going to render just the one and
it's going to use some kind of magic
[clears throat]
to duplicate that across both your eyes,
so it's going to be half
the uh
expense on your hardware. I'm just going
to see if I can go outside
without crashing. It's definitely more
framy than it was yesterday.
Um
When I was playing this yesterday, it
was actually fairly smooth
for the most part.
Some of that.
But, even just standing around, looking
at this kind of stuff,
it nearly brought a tear to my eye
yesterday when I was playing this.
That's incredibly loud music. I'm going
to go go go back inside. I'm going to
crash.
I'm going to crash.
It's too scary out there. It is too
scary out there with the music. I can't
hear myself speak with the music.
Uh but my point is what I was trying to
say is um I was getting emotional out
there.
Yesterday when I was playing this game,
it was incredible. I was looking at all
these triple-A
visuals that were on display in front of
me. It was a lot smoother than this.
And uh it just made me think of, you
know,
this is the promise of PSVR 2. This is
what it should have been.
This is what we should have gotten the
whole time. And you know, we got a
little bit of us.
I won't deny that. We did get a handful
of this kind of quality level when it
comes to games, Resident Evil, Gran
Turismo, Hitman, that kind of thing.
But uh
we get an up-close look now at this
There was a hole here. Now, the
textures might not look amazing because
I do have them set all the way down to
low.
That's because I'm running this on a
4070, which is it was kind of like
lower end of what you can run this on,
you know?
And uh especially with OBS running at
the same time as well to capture this.
Not so ideal.
Uh not even going to play too much of
this. I just want to make a quick video
because uh this is amazing. I don't want
to play this in such a state where, you
know, it's so framy and stuff.
But like I said, that update that's
coming from your Derek
hopefully means I'll be able to stream
this, you know, it's in its entirety.
And have a relatively smooth experience
in the game while doing so.
You know, there is jank, of course.
Game isn't designed, but you know, if
you ask me, there's jank in
a lot of the games that aren't designed
for virtual reality. Resident Evil games
will have a little bit of jank to them.
They have the developer
developed
conversions.
It's kind of stuff.
Uh Uh, like for example,
no idea where it was.
Oh, that does work.
Uh, but for example, I've no idea how to
pull up my map.
No clue. I've pressed nearly every
button.
And uh, no idea how the map comes up.
But, irrelevant. I played this game
enough on PS5. I kind of have the
layouts, and you kind of just explore
every nook and cranny of the map anyway,
regardless of where the map tells you to
go. So, you know, it all works out in
the end.
So, yeah, you I'm just going to see how
this cutscene is going to look. They
even take into account cutscenes.
You know, they'll
they place the camera in certain
locations so that
as the cutscene plays out, you get like
some of these dramatic-looking
views. I had one that was like on the
ground,
and the denseness of the foliage on the
ground level
was so impressive to me that I wasn't
even looking at this character, James. I
wasn't even looking at whatever he was
He was listening to the radio or
something.
And uh, I was just so amazed by that
denseness of foliage.
Because that's what AAA is. Not just
foliage, lighting. It's the fog outside.
It's the way those traffic lights were
blown in the wind. It's
it's the little wires on the telephone
poles blowing in the wind also.
Approaching these payphone booths, and
you know, one of the phones is dangling,
and you can hear the dial tone as you
get near it. So, it's just all these
amazing details.
AAA details.
And the game is now about to crash as I
speak on the details.
Uh, are we going to calm down?
Calming down a little bit.
See how this cutscene will go. Remember,
this could crash at any moment.
Yeah, this is what I'm talking about
here.
Cutscene as they Yeah, it wasn't like
this yesterday. It's not like this
yesterday. It's extra frame you know
because I'm like recording at the same
time. Please don't judge it too harshly
based on what you're seeing now. If you
have a more powerful rig than me, you're
going to have a much better time as
well.
Take him.
Wait.
Want to take this.
Open and okay, this could be where maybe
the game ends because I don't know how
to open inventory either.
Wants me to touch the touch pad.
But
um how do I do that?
Grip.
Double grip.
Trigger.
I want to see the trigger trigger's
involved.
Issuing out punishment, which is amazing
also by the way.
I'm very much looking forward to getting
the gun.
Uh because
even though it somehow they got melee
working in this.
Oh my god. Uh as I was saying, somehow
they got melee working in this.
Having said this, I don't like having to
physically swing around weapons to
attack in real life. This that's some
Wii Sports level stuff. I'm not too
interested in that. I am however
interested in pointing a gun and
blasting [snorts] away some kind of
sexualized monsters.
Uh repressed sexualizations of game's
psyche. Now we're going to try to figure
out I'm not going to press triangle cuz
that's going to waste a health thing.
We'll press That's the dash. Do I have
to grab something on my body? Do I have
to grab?
Grab my bulge down here. Look at that. I
don't know if you can see some bulge
grabbing. Now I've got wood.
Now I've got wood from grabbing so much
bulge.
It's not working. It's not what I wanted
uh because I'm recording.
>> [clears throat]
>> But that's fine because I'm just trying
to get my point across. My stiff piece
of wood,
three nails on top. And by the way, when
you hit something with this, you see the
blood
the blood starts to soak
uh,
on your plank here.
Eventually, fades away over time as well
as like all these kind of
I I'm not even sure if I noticed that
playing flats. I've noticed other
details
playing in virtual reality that I've
never noticed before playing flats. Just
interactables and stuff that I missed
lately.
They just thought they were part of the
scenery in the first first time round on
PS5, but
virtual reality allows me to get a
better appreciation.
I'm going to brave outside again,
even though it's spooky out there and
loud.
Let's try this.
All right, walking down the street here.
At Andy's Tool Shop, for instance, an
iconic location in Silent Hill.
Andy, of course, has a massive tool,
and it's a key
instrument that you use in the facing
the game.
And we're going to mess up Andy's
window. Like, you can even see
a terrible reflection, but still a
reflection nonetheless,
in the windows.
Such immersion.
I'm going to smash this window here.
I said
All right, this is one of those
invincible windows. Not all of them can
be smashed. Not all of them can be
smashed. Andy has reinforced his windows
badly.
Andy has super frame, you know, because
once again, recording, but let me tell
you, when you're walking these streets
and it's a smooth experience,
uh, you'll be creaming yourself like I
was. I was absolutely creaming myself
with joy.
Couldn't believe what I was seeing,
really.
We do have a cop car here, which usually
have nice little goodies in them.
This one has been unexplored.
All right, and I had to hit things with
the frame rate so poor.
Right now, and it also
automatically leaves your inventory.
There we go.
Is there anything in here for me? It
might be
No, there's not.
Maybe I did get it already, it just
doesn't save the broken window states.
Uh but anyway, this is kind of kind of
unplayable cuz I'm recording this. As
I've said 1,000 times now, you probably
sick of hearing it.
Because of that,
because of that, I'm no longer
interested playing. I don't want to ruin
the experience for myself, you know?
This is not how it's meant to be.
Not what the lord intended.
Not only do I have OBS going, I also
have video broadcast going for the
camera, you know? It's It's all eat All
these things are eating into the GPU
performance.
And uh it really shows. I'm going to try
and get out of here now.
Also a very difficult thing to do.
Usually when I try and exit the game,
the game will crash.
Or freeze up, I should say.
I had no idea OBS was was struggling to
run there as well, so I've no idea how
this recording is going to come through.
So, I'm going to piece through the
recording now, see if any of this is
usable.
And if it is usable, I'll try and make a
video out of this and put it up on the
channel. I know I
It's not It's not exactly a glowing
showcase of what this um
this mod can do. And also, let me tell
you, it's not just the Unreal Injector
uh mod that I'm using. It's also Mr.
Survivor's VR Hub, which is also super
handy for somebody like me who was
borderline
um you you know, special needs in terms
of mental ca-
capacity uh when it comes to PCs and
stuff like that. I hate modern. I hate
all this stuff.
But,
all you got to do is download Unreal
Injector, then download Mr. Survivors,
and then he'll talk you through it, you
know. As long as you own Silent Hill,
whatever game it is. He's updated it to
include two more games now.
Dead Island 2.
That's another game I could guess it's
probably for a really cheap on Steam
right now.
And uh San Andreas, GTA San Andreas,
he's added that. So, those are just like
one button clicks now to get into
virtual reality basically as long as you
own those games. So, it's crazy.
Incredible times. Maybe I'll try like
GTA San Andreas. Surely I'll be able to
stream that.
And play it at the same time.
Uh
have to wait and see.
But, anyway, that's going to be it for
this video.
And I'll leave it there. Goodbye.
