What I'm going to show you is what our last board exam boot camp looked like just a couple months ago in case you are about to take the board exam and you're interested in the board exam boot camp because you want case studies, you want practice, critical thinking with a tutor such as myself where I can help you right away. So, it's kind of like you're in a classroom. I'm teaching you what you have to know for the board exam in order to pass. But, anyway, so moving on here, I'm going to go over some questions that were in our last boot camp to kind of let you know what to expect. So, I'm just going to pick a slide here. Let's pick um pick slide 11 and we're going to go from there. So, there is going to be a mix of questions from all different topics. So, just because it says here a dental hygienist discovers, that doesn't mean that this is only for dental hygiene students. The Board Exam Boot Camp is for dental hygiene students and dental assisting students. Cuz there's going to be a mix of questions that both have to know in order to pass, okay? So, a dental hygienist discovers that a colleague has been documenting falsified patient treatment in order to meet office productivity goals. The hygienist is aware that the colleague is under pressure due to the office's expectations, but is uncomfortable with the unethical behavior. So, this is an ethics question. What should the hygienist do? Do we A, ignore the situation as it does not directly affect them? B, offer to help the colleague with their workload to alleviate the pressure they are facing? C, confront the colleague directly and encourage them to stop without involving anyone else? Or D, to report the falsification to the appropriate authorities, even if it may result in severe consequences for the colleague? So, feel free to pause the video if you need to think about this. But, I am going to go over to the next slide and explain it all to you. So, you want to report the falsification to the appropriate authorities even if it may result in severe consequences for the colleague. So let's go over this together before the next slide where I talk about the rationales for every single option. So it doesn't even have to be a dental professional here. So or sorry, it doesn't have to be a dental hygienist here. It could be a dental assistant, any dental professional. So somebody in the dental office discovers that a colleague has been documenting falsified patient treatment in order to meet office productivity goals. So what does that mean? So they're documenting falsified patient treatment. So this could mean they did a occlusal filling, but they said they did an MOD filling in order to make more money. Or it could be a dental hygienist who did a teeth cleaning for 30 minutes, but said they were scaling for 45. I don't know. So anything could be falsified, right? Unfortunately. But the more money they make, maybe they make a commission. So that's why they've been doing this. Now, the dental hygienist or whoever is aware that the colleague is under pressure due to the office's expectations, but is uncomfortable with the unethical behavior. So they understand because the whole office has these expectations and they might be on commission or maybe they're told to sell a certain amount or they're going to be fired. You never know. But what happens? You know, the colleague understands, but this also isn't right. It's unethical and it's against the law. So what should the hygienist do? Just ignore the situation and just hope that somebody else brings it up? Are Are we going to offer to help the colleague with their workload to alleviate the pressure? So maybe we can help them in some way? Or to confront the colleague directly and encourage them to stop without involving anybody? Or D, report to authorities? So I want to first say in most cases what we want to do is we actually want to talk to the colleague directly before we report anybody. Why? Because it could be an honest mistake. Maybe we're missing something. Maybe they did do that MOD filling even though it looks like an occlusal to you, but maybe they had plans to have the patient back to redo part of it. So that's why they build the MOD filling, you know, it's always good to confront them first. But in this case, the better answer for the board exam is going to be reported. And why is that? On the board exam, if something's already been done that's against the law, we need to report it. They have already been falsifying documents. You cannot do this. It's against the law. So that's why D is the best answer, okay? So the rationale is basically, again, you would have access to all of these answers, questions, rationales if you sign up for the board exam boot camp. This is just an example from our last one. But the rationale for D, if you look down below, is that by reporting the unethical behavior, it's the most responsible and ethical action to take. While it may have consequences for the colleague, the safety and the well-being of patients and the integrity of the practice must come first. So by reporting the falsified documentation, the hygienist is ensuring that patient care is not compromised. But why would C not be the right answer? So sorry, I was trying to highlight only C. So C isn't the best answer because while confronting the colleague is an important step, but this action may not be sufficient because documenting falsified treatment is a serious breach of ethical and legal standards, and confronting the colleague privately might not be enough to resolve the issue. It's necessary to involve the supervisors or regulatory bodies to ensure the problem is properly addressed. Also, imagine this as well. If you confront them and they don't want to stop and they give you excuses, then when you report them, they're going to know it's you and that might be of concern to you, too, right? So, that's why D in this case is the better answer because such a bad thing has already been done. They're not just talking about it, they're not just thinking about it. It's not just one time. It sounds like it's been happening several times. So, this is why reporting is the best answer, okay? So, how did you do with that question? So, that's what the Board Exam Boot Camp is all about is talking about questions, answers, and going through them together.
