The semi-final match-up between Alina Rebecca and Coco Gauff at the 2026 US Open promises to be a blockbuster encounter, as both players have fought hard to reach this stage of the tournament. Gauff entered the event as the fourth seed and navigated through her early rounds with relative ease, defeating Sonmez, Padosa, and Booksha in straight sets before overcoming Yic in a tight second set to advance to the quarterfinals. Her path became more challenging against fifth-seeded Andrea, where she saved match points in a second-set tie-break to secure a hard-fought victory and book her spot in the semi-finals. In contrast, Rebecca entered as the number two seed and faced a slightly different trajectory, starting with dominant straight-set wins over wild card Froden and Monero before edging past Sarah Tva after a close first set. Her journey included a rematch against Osaka, whom she had previously defeated in an epic match just weeks ago, this time winning comfortably in straight sets. The quarterfinals presented the toughest test for Rebecca as she dropped the first set against qualifier Jiang but rallied to win the subsequent three sets and reach the semi-finals. The two players have a history of competitive rivalry, having met twice before with a split record of one win each, including a dramatic comeback by Rebecca in Canada just weeks prior. Their previous encounter four years ago added to the significance of this potential trilogy match, which is set to take place in one of the biggest matches of the season. The analysis suggests that Gauff must improve significantly on her performance against Andrea, specifically by reducing errors and serving more effectively, as she struggled with double faults in her last round. Meanwhile, Rebecca is expected to win by continuing her clean game and leveraging her status as the confirmed world number one to relieve pressure and bully Gauff around the court. Despite the current ranking favoring Rebecca, the commentator leans towards predicting a victory for Gauff, believing she will perform much better than in her quarterfinal match. The argument is that with Rebecca having secured the world number one spot, she may feel her primary job is done for the week and could play more casually, whereas Gauff still has the Grand Slam title on the line to fight for. This added motivation might give Gauff the edge needed to overcome Rebecca in what is described as a very interesting matchup between two top-tier talents.

Alina Rebecca versus Koko Goff is a blockbuster match up in the semi-finals of the US Open for 2026 and both players had to fight their way through to get to this stage. Golf entered the tournament as the number four seed and we take on Sonmez in the first round. There's no problem getting through in straight 6364. In the second round she take on Padosa and over a close second set we get through in straight 6476. In the third round she take on Booksha and again no problem getting through in straight 6364. In the fourth round take on Yic who is coming off an epic match against Yala in the previous round. And over a close second set would get to win straight 6164 to advance to the quarterfinals. In the quarterfinals, golf would take on Andrea, the fifth seed. And this was a battle after saving a couple of match points in the second set tie break. She'd fight back to win 267662 to advance to the semi-finals. Backing into the tournament as the number two seed and would take on the wild card Froden in the first round. There's no problem getting through in straight 6362. The second round she take on Monero and again no problem getting through in straight 6264. In the third round, she'd take on Sarah Tva, who had taken out Sachary in the previous round. And over a close first set would get through in straight 7663. In the fourth round, Rebecca would take on Osaka, the 13th seed, who she'd played a couple of weeks ago in an epic match. It was much easier this time getting through in straight 6164 to advance to the quarterfinals. In the quarterfinals, Rebecca would take on Jiang, the qualifier, who had just beaten Fiona in the previous round. And after dropping the first set, she fight back to win 366164 to advance to the semi-finals. These two have only played two times before with the Head Dead split down the middle 1-1, including a match a couple weeks ago in Canada where Rebecca came back from a set down to win. And the last time they played before that was actually four years prior. So, we're finally getting another match up between these two, the trilogy match, and it's in one of the biggest matches of the season. Go's going to win this one. She needs to get off to a way better start than she did against Andrea. She played so poorly and really hit a lot of errors. So, really needs to limit those errors, but also has to serve well. A lot of double faults in her [music] quarterfinal. So really needs to serve well if she's going to keep up with Rebecca. Rebecca's going to win this one. She needs to just keep doing what she's doing. She's now the world number one confirmed. So that's not a problem anymore. She can be relieved and just play normal tennis and not have to worry about using that pressure and she just has to bully Goff around the court because her game has been really clean this week. Very interesting matchup here. Of course, the world number one ranking is now Rebecca as golf hasn't got a chance to win it yet, but I'm going to go with Koko to get the win here. I reckon she'll be much better than she was in the quarters. And I don't know. I feel like Rebecca is kind of, you know, her job is done by winning the, you know, number one ranking this week. And yeah, you know, winning a grand slam is obviously still there, but I reckon it might be Goff who has a little bit more to play for at home. But let me know your thoughts below who's going to win this one.
