Running Up Colorado’s Tallest Mountain to Naturally Boost Red Blood Cells
Watch on YouTubeVideo summary
The video opens with a reflective and musical tone as the narrator contemplates being in nature, suggesting that sometimes one must take a step back to see the truth of their surroundings more clearly. This philosophical intro transitions into a brief sponsorship segment for SOAR running gear, where the host discusses the durability and lightweight quality of their apparel while noting some wear after years of use on trails and roads. Despite minor issues with seam fraying due to frequent washing, he praises the fabric's breathability and suitability for racing and training in various conditions.
The main focus then shifts to a recent running challenge undertaken in freezing temperatures at Mount Albert, which stands as Colorado's tallest mountain not requiring supplemental oxygen. The narrator explains that after taking several days off from running, he experienced some returning tendinitis issues, prompting him to emphasize the importance of building "suppleness" or explosive power through plyometrics and gym work before attempting steep ascents again. He highlights how working on this kinetic chain—from glutes down to calves, soleus, Achilles tendon, and plantar fascia—is essential for safely tackling high-altitude terrain once snow conditions improve over a period of at least four weeks.
Ultimately, the video concludes with an inspiring message about perseverance in the outdoors, celebrating the unique feeling of reaching the summit alone when no one else is present to share the view or compete against them. The host expresses determination to regain his full physical readiness and return to conquering mountains like Mount Albert with renewed strength and joy. Through this journey, he reinforces themes of freedom, hard work, mutual love among runners, and the enduring appeal of experiencing nature's beauty firsthand in Colorado's rugged landscape.

Thank you SOAR.
SOAR, I'm not going to talk about the
price.
I promise I'm not going to
Oh, SOAR, what are we going to do with
you? Out of the UK and
[music and singing] so this is SOAR high
high performance running gear. Thank you
[music] SOAR for sending this t-shirt.
Although this is looks like a small.
It's so funny, man. I am just like I'm
such a small like torso up top. It just
anyway, it's I appreciate it, but I
don't know what I'm going to do with
this. They like their flashy colors.
That is for sure. It is high quality
gear. I will There you go. I'll put
their website, but I'm not going to
They've been sending me gear for
probably 5 years and I after 5 years of
running in you know, SOAR gear after if
you wash it let's say I don't know once
a month. That's 12 washes per year and
plus the wear and tear out on the
trails, out on the roads. It lasts about
2 years before the material starts to
fray. At least that's been my
experience. Maybe 3 years, but a lot of
the SOAR gear that I
received in 2023 is starting to just
fray a little bit at the seams and
because because it's very very
lightweight and breathable, which is
amazing for racing especially for
training though. I don't know if it's
quite necessary.
Okay, I'm going to stop there. Otherwise
I'll get in trouble. All right, SOAR
there you have it.
The run actually Well, speaking of
running gear, there is my gear from the
frigid temperatures today. It actually
was beautiful and that was Mount Albert.
Um the highest point. It's kind of fun
to get to the top when nobody else is on
top because for 10 seconds in the
freezing wind
I was the tallest person in Colorado,
which is hard
[music]
for me to accomplish if you know what I
good. You know, I took five days off and
I but after three days of no running, it
was back to I had a little little
something going on. Maybe you know,
maybe a little tendinitis popping up. So
today the suppleness, which is the explo
you know, another way to think about it
is the explosion that you can create
through doing plyometrics, going to the
gym and yes
running uphill and running up some steep
hills even in the snow. Now, you know,
when that's dry again, probably four
weeks at the minimum.
It's going to be a lot nicer to work on
the suppleness of your entire kinetic
chain from your glutes down to the
hammies, but especially those calves,
the soleus, the Achilles tendon and
right into that planter
on the bottom of the foot. It's I want
them firing. When you're firing and
you're really ready to rock and roll
those mountains, it you just you know
the feeling and I definitely don't have
it yet, but it's coming. All right, good
stuff. SOAR. Oh, SOAR.
I could I could I could [music] tell a
joke right now, but I won't. All right,
we'll toss it to uh
Mount Albert FKT right there. Mount
Albert FKT. Come on. See you beauty.
Work hard.
Love each other.
