Video summary
The video features Sha 1000 unboxing and testing a vintage Sony VCR remote control, model V307, which he recently acquired for eight dollars on eBay. Upon opening the package, he confirms that the device is in good condition with only minor scratches and ensures that no batteries were left inside, allowing him to insert fresh double-A batteries immediately. The remote is specifically designed for Sony VCRs equipped with VCR Plus+ technology, a feature clearly marked on the front of the device. After successfully powering on his television using the new remote, he proceeds to demonstrate its various functions by inserting a tape and controlling playback.
During the demonstration, the host verifies that all essential transport controls work perfectly, including play, stop, pause, fast forward, rewind, and even slow motion. He also tests the timer settings, index search, commercial skip, and the ability to display remaining tape time on the screen. While he notes that the volume buttons do not control his specific TV because the remote cannot be programmed to that particular television set, he explains that this limitation is acceptable since the device was purchased primarily to support a game system rather than for general home theater use. The remote also features an LCD display that can toggle between showing the time or a tape counter, adding to its utility.
Beyond the technical specifications, the video highlights the quality of the original Sony core manufactured in Malaysia and the quiet operation of the eject button. Sha 1000 expresses his satisfaction with the purchase, noting that despite not being able to program it for volume control on his current TV, the remote works seamlessly with many different VCR models. He mentions that his friend Monkey is eager to use the associated game system this weekend, which was the main motivation for buying the unit. The video concludes with a brief teaser about an upcoming project involving a homemade steam engine and a playful mention of monkeys wandering around the property before signing off.

Hey everyone, Sha 1000 here. I don't
know why my voice cracked like I was 16,
but it did. Uh, we have our remote for
the Sony VCR that we just acquired.
So, let's open this up.
Of
course, I turn the camera on and thunder
comes.
Awesome.
All right.
Sure. This is the right one. Yeah, looks
like it.
Hopefully
no one left batteries in this thing.
This was $8 on eBay.
Okay.
VCR Plus+
right here.
And that's what it says on the front of
here.
So,
uh, it did say minor scratches. I'm not
worried about that.
Okay. No batteries. That's good. So, I
need to get some double A batteries
here.
I would have had them out, but I didn't
know what size it took.
But, let's go ahead and get our TV on.
Again, I do have a remote for this TV,
but it's in the camper.
Okay.
Oops.
All right. Let me get some batteries for
this [clears throat]
for this remote. Okay. So, I'll show you
here.
right down there.
VCR Plus with the plus signal. And here
we've got the VCR Plus with the plus
signal. So hopefully this will work
now.
Okay.
Power
on TV. Put on video power. There we go.
All right.
So, the power is on.
Let's um
put a movie in here.
Now, we're going to push play.
Well, it's already playing.
Oh, I got this set on the wrong thing.
Hang on.
AB. There we go.
All right,
there it is. Let's do fast forward.
And it is.
Let's do
um
let's do stop.
And stopped.
Push play again. And then we'll try the
pause button.
Look how nice that pauses.
That That's nice.
Sony. I love Sony.
Okay.
Press
play. I'm going [clears throat] to stop.
Fast forward.
It's working.
Is
counting up. There.
All right, let's stop this. Rewind it.
Wait a minute. First, let's um
It's got slow motion.
As you can see, it is slow motion pretty
well.
play.
And you can use you can program this to
your TV, too. I don't know if I can
program it to that TV, but
uh let me see. Volume.
Oh, that'll be that would be for the TV
part.
Um input, select, record. I don't know
what that times two is. Oh, it speeds it
up.
Two times.
It's got a commercial pass. Um,
index search.
That works.
See if it's got a menu here. And it
does.
Timer set. Check. We got settings,
advanced options. Okay, that's cool.
Um,
that's pretty much really all we can
check out on it.
Let's do the counter.
Yes, you can change it to the clock or
have the counter running.
What's display do? Oh, you can display
it up there. time and counter.
Of course, that's not the original time,
but
Oh, okay. That's cool. Tells you how
much you got left on your tape.
[clears throat]
Okay, that's awesome. Um,
yeah, I think this is supposed to light
up somehow now. I don't know how it does
or if it just glows in the dark. I think
it might just glow in the dark. I'm not
sure.
Um so, but this is um an original Sony
for remote for this this here. So,
it does work. Got record. I'm not going
to hit that cuz it won't do anything
anyway. But, um so that's pretty much
all we can check on it, but we know it
does work. Let's go ahead and stop this
and rewind it.
And as you can see, it is rewinding.
Then we'll try the eject button.
>> [clears throat]
>> You can program this remote, too. I
don't know how you program it to the TV.
Made in Malaysia from Sony Core.
Sony core.
Then let's try the eject button. And
there it is.
This thing is quiet.
There it is. So, this remote works well.
Um, yeah, I like that. So, now we have,
you know, we have a $100 system here.
Easy.
Yeah, that is cool.
Okay, I'll be back with you in just a
second. Okay, guys. So, there it is. It
works fine with it. Like I said, the the
channel works. The volume doesn't
because I guess you can't program this
to a TV, but I don't know what the
volume buttons would be for. Maybe a a
different uh VCR because this worked
with a lot of different VCRs.
So, but I'm okay with that cuz I think
Monkey wants to play our game this
weekend that that we bought this thing
just for the game. So, all right guys.
So, there it is right there. Stay tuned
for a
a uh
start green. Stay tuned for a uh a steam
engine video.
>> Someone was detected at your front door.
>> Monkeys out there walking around. Stay
tuned for a steam engine video. We're
going to fire steam engine today. And uh
I think I'm going to fire up the old uh
the old homemade one. We'll get it
running. I think it's pretty cool. So,
all right guys. Shay Bear the myth man
and gone for now. Have a great day
everyone. We'll see you soon. Bye-bye
and take care.
