River Fishing While Camping In Floral City Florida

Watch on YouTube

Video summary

The video documents a fishing expedition at a river near Floral City, Florida, which quickly turns into an encounter with numerous alligators rather than a successful catch of traditional game fish. Although the narrator initially spots a gar and manages to hook it by letting the bait wiggle around the fish's snout, the primary focus shifts almost immediately to the dangerous environment filled with alligators. The group identifies several alligators in the water, including a baby gator sitting nearby and multiple larger ones swimming around, making the area feel unsafe for standard fishing activities. Despite the presence of these reptiles, the narrator attempts to catch the gar again using chicken liver as bait, carefully maneuvering near an alligator while trying to secure the fish. After successfully hooking the gar, he quickly removes it from the water and throws it away from the group to prevent feeding the alligators or risking injury. The experience highlights the difficulty of fishing in such waters, as the narrator notes that casting is limited by low water levels that prevent boat access and the constant threat of falling into the river where small alligators would be eager to attack. Ultimately, the trip concludes with the decision to abandon the kayaking plan and return to the camper due to the overwhelming number of alligators in the immediate vicinity. The narrator expresses relief at having caught one fish but emphasizes that the situation is not worth the risk of falling into the water and being bitten by a swarm of hungry gators. While they managed to photograph the gar before releasing it back into the river, the adventure serves as a cautionary tale about the unpredictable dangers of river fishing in Florida, where the presence of alligators can turn a simple outing into a hazardous situation that requires immediate retreat.

[music] >> Okay, guys. I don't think I'll be doing much fishing. >> [snorts] >> I could probably walk at least 3/4 of the way out there. I can see bottom. I do, however, see a fish over here. I'm going to put my line down in front of him and see if I can get him. Okay, he latched onto it. I don't know if you can see him. I think he's a gar. Uh, and he let go. Yep, he was a gar. Um but yeah, usually they just try to take the bait. You got to kind of let them wiggle around and let them get wrapped around their snoot. That's how you catch them. Um I mean, I don't even think it's worth it because I there's no way I can cast out that far. Lucky was down here making her video yesterday and she was sitting right right here. And uh she said she saw four or five gators just hanging out here. Me and Bruno walked down here and we was over there at that dock. There was a baby gator just sitting there in the water. I wish I had have got that fish. Yeah, I can I can exactly see it's in all this stuff here. Oh, there's in fact there's a baby gator right here. Let me get y'all up here and see if you guys can see him. Let me Let me grab my glasses. And there's another one right out here. I don't know if you can see him there. And then there's another one swimming right out there. I don't know if you guys can see him or not. Can you see him swimming? But anyway, yeah, it's so I don't think fishing's going to be I'm going to wind that stuff off of there. Jeez. Oh. Hang on, I got a clip here. You know what? I'll go ahead clip on. Jeez. Wow. But Yeah, I mean, there's no way we could get our boat in here. Cuz it's just too damn low. Oh, Great. Man, there's another one right here. So, that's That's three of them down here. >> [snorts] >> Uh-uh, got him. I got him hooked. And I caught me a gator. Where you at? >> [snorts] >> There he is. All right. Well, Yeah, so uh I got that gator off my line. I'm sitting here looking at one, two, three, four gators right now. Granted, they're small, but >> [snorts] >> uh So, I don't even want to take the chance of getting in there on a kayak in case I would fall in. Them guys will be on you pretty quick. Man. >> [snorts] >> Oh, well. Yeah, that's a bust. So, yeah, I'm just definitely not. Cuz if I would happen to fall in, which it happens, you know. Uh Uh there's one down here. I know you guys can't see it. If I'm on another camera, I'd be able to zoom in on him, but I mean, uh one little slip, you go in, and you got this little, you know, a bunch of these little gators chomping at you. No fun. So, I really don't even want to do that. I mean, I know there's gators in this river, but this is crazy. All right. Well, yeah, I see looks like it'd be a turtle way out there where I first casted. So, if the fish ain't going to be in this and if they are, well, you know, that little gar, he's back. Let me get rigged up again. And there's a gator right here. He just came up. Let me get rigged up again to see if I can at least get this gar. Okay, guys. I'm right in front of this gar. I have a piece of chicken liver, and he's going for it. He's smelling it. He's got it. Like I said, they don't uh >> [snorts] >> It's hard to get them hooked in their mouths. I got to be careful cuz there's a gator right over here. I don't want him coming. Okay, so it's the same gar. I'm going to keep messing around till he comes back and then I'll kick you back on. I don't know if you guys saw that or not, but yeah, he'll take it so long then he'll just let go of it. It won't be hooked. I got kind of a small hook on there and no sinker. >> [snorts] >> So I try to get this gar and give me something to do for a few minutes. And I'll be back with you. Okay, guys. We got this gar down here. See if we got the hook. Got him. We got us a gar. All right. Yeah, we got us a gar. All right. I thought he came off. There he is. You guys see him? >> [clears throat] >> All right. I got to get the hook out of his mouth. I'm throwing him over there away from these gators. I ain't trying to feed the gators and I ain't trying to catch a damn gator. Latched onto that one, but the hook did finally come out of his mouth. So, that's good. All right. Let me try to get First, I'm going to take a picture of this thing, send it to Monkey. Then, uh I'll be back with you in a minute. All this this whole river right in here is full of gators. There's big ones out in there I've been seeing swim around. But, all right, let me get him off of here, and we'll get him thrown in back into the water away from the gators, cuz you throw that in there, that gator is going to try to get him. So, at least we caught one fish, and then I guess I'm going to go back up to the camper. And I don't know what I'm going to do now. I had planned on getting in the kayak, but I don't want to get in that kayak with like I said, one little slip up, and yeah, I got a bunch of little gators biting me. I don't want that. All right, back in you go. Okay. Well, let's head back up to the camper. >> [music] [music]
