Hey, what's going on everyone? This is
Be Avery here. I just got home for
seeing the latest body horror, monster
horror, psychological horror film,
Resident Evil. This is my I guess out of
the reaction even though I just got
home. Now, let me preface this by saying
I am familiar with the video game. I did
play it as a teenager and I'm a fan. And
also the previous series, Resident Evil,
where they had like four, five, six,
seven different sequels. I did enjoy
that. It was crazy, bonkers, but I still
had fun with it. Now, with this film, I
didn't have any expectations. I saw the
trailers. It did look entertaining. I
wasn't excited, but I wasn't dreading
this movie either, but I still wanted to
see it. Now, this is being directed by
Zack Kger. This is what the gentleman
looks like right here. And I also want
to say, okay, he came out with Weapons
in 2025. I love this movie from top to
bottom. I thought it was fantastic. One
of the best movies of 2025. The the love
that it got, the attention, I it was
welld deserved. So, I just want to make
sure you're aware of that. And I am
aware that this is the same director
that did Barbarian. And I didn't like
Barbarian. I like the I like the very
beginning. I did like the the first uh
act of the movie. I thought it was
fantastic. Uh, but now let me go ahead
and talk about Resident Evil real quick.
Now guys, I feel the exact same way with
this Resident Evil movie that I did with
Barbarian, thinking that the beginning,
the intro, the first act was like the
best movie that I've seen in years. I
felt that way with Barbarian. I felt
this way with Resident Evil. When I was
watching this movie Resident Evil
earlier tonight, I was saying to myself
like, "Oh my gosh, they need to have
this film in film school to teach
students like this is how it's done." I
could not wait to do my out of the
reaction. I could not wait to get home
and tell everybody, "Guys, drop all of
your plans. You need to go see Resident
Evil right now. This is the best movie
of the year. This guy knows what he's
doing. He knows how to adapt video
games. He knows how to tell a story. He
knows how to scare you. He knows all the
things. Like I was just like, "Wow."
Like I I just could not believe how good
the movie was. That is how I felt about
the first act of this film. But then
when we got to the second act, it was a
tonal shift. And I don't want to say the
quality dipped, but just the way that
they was telling the story. And I was
like, "Okay, I'm still entertained. I'm
still having a good time, but all the
eyes are not dotted. All the tees are
not crossed. I don't know what happened,
but you know, hey, I'm still here for
the ride. But then we got to the third
act. And it just got silly and I was
saying to myself, "Okay, what are we
doing? Why are we not taking this
serious anymore? I just don't
understand. I I just don't get it." And
I was left confused. I won't say that I
hated the ending of this movie, but I
really didn't like it. Overall, I still
had fun. I was still entertained, and I
think you should go see it. Don't, you
know, just tailor your expectations.
when the film ended, when the credits
hit, you know, there were a couple of
people that did applaud and I I want to
say at least a fourth of the audience,
you know, but there was also some people
that I heard that was like, h, you know,
and I don't know what that means, but I
know what it means to me is that I don't
know if I want to say that I'm dis Well,
I will say that I'm a bit disappointed.
Even though I went in with no
expectations, I'm disappointed because
the movie just started out as a freaking
masterpiece. I was ready to walk out of
this and say, "Y'all, this is like a
perfect 10 out of 10." But but it's not.
It's not. Um the first act again is a 10
out of 10. And the first act of
Barbarian was a 10 out of 10. But when
you get to that second act and that
third act and they just change the
shift, not change the shift, but change
the tone, it's just like I don't know
what what happened. It's like a
completely different director or a
completely different crew came in and
just took over. And I I just don't get
it. I I don't know why that happened. I
don't know how it happened, but that's
just crazy to me. So, that's my reaction
right now for Resident Evil directed by
Zack Kger. Again, I thought Weapons was
fantastic. You know, at least a nine out
of 10. I I mean, I love this movie
dearly. Um, and I love the first act of
Barbarian just like I love the first act
of Resident Evil. It's just I don't
know. I don't I want to say that he
doesn't know how to close the film, but
that's not true because he did it with
weapons, but he didn't do it with
Barbarian and he definitely didn't do it
with this. It comes out this Friday.
