Video summary
The Baltimore Ravens are celebrating significant positive developments following their first preseason game, primarily centered on the return of key players from injury. Linebacker Teddy Buchanan has officially passed his physical and returned to practice, providing much-needed depth at linebacker after missing time due to a concussion. This news is particularly welcome given that Jay Higgins is still recovering from his own head injury. Furthermore, the team received a massive boost when starting quarterbacks Nate Wiggins and Marlon Humphrey also returned to the facility for practice. Head coach Jesse Menton's transparent communication regarding these injuries has been widely praised by fans, marking a stark contrast to the previous era under John Harbaugh, where injury updates were often vague or delayed. The return of these core players, especially Marlon Humphrey who is expected to have a redemption season in the new defensive system, has lifted the overall morale and confidence of the fanbase.
In addition to the roster news, the video highlights growing excitement for young talent and specific player roles within the team's new offensive and defensive schemes. Wide receiver Jacob Lane, a highly touted rookie, is generating significant buzz after his preseason performance, with many fans believing he has filled a long-standing need for the franchise despite initial skepticism about his usage under the old coaching staff. Similarly, quarterback Joe Faniano impressed observers during the game, solidifying his position as a strong contender for the third-string quarterback role, especially now that Skyler Thompson is on injured reserve and Diego Pavia has departed. The coaching staff also appears to be getting better use out of versatile players like Taz Walker, who continues to demonstrate his ability to contribute effectively on offense. These developments suggest that the new regime is successfully integrating fresh talent and maximizing the potential of existing roster pieces.
Fan engagement throughout the video reflects a renewed optimism for the upcoming season, with supporters expressing confidence in the team's ability to compete immediately. Viewers discussed the impressive defensive performance against the Eagles, noting how the unit locked down third downs effectively and operated with a level of comfort that was lacking in previous years. There is also a strong belief that under Jesse Menton's guidance, supported by experienced coaches like Anthony Weaver on the defensive line, the Ravens can return to their status as a top-tier defense, potentially reclaiming the number one spot in the league. While some fans remain cautious about specific roster moves, such as whether Tyler Luep will keep his job or if Jacob Lane could eventually challenge Zay Flowers for the starting receiver role, the general consensus is one of hope and anticipation. The team's financial commitment to players like Flowers, combined with their competitive spirit, has created an environment where fans feel confident that the Ravens are ready to make a serious push for a championship-caliber season.

We were all so hyped for that first
preseason game that when Ravens
announced this, a lot of us hadn't even
noticed. BUT ON FRIDAY, THE BALTIMORE
RAVENS said that linebacker Teddy
Buchanan passed his physical. He is no
longer on the physically unable to
perform list so he can return to
practice. And that's exactly what he did
today. It was a beautiful thing seeing
that number 40 out there and him being
healthy, it upgrades this team so much.
It provides that much more depth because
we lost Jay Higgins for who knows how
long because he's dealing with a
concussion now that he suffered in that
Eagles preseason game, but this helps
the Ravens so much. Teddy Buchanan, he
ended up becoming a starter last year.
And in my opinion, he played pretty
good. So to have him back out there
healthy again, it's a beautiful addition
to the squad. But guess what? The good
news, it didn't stop there. Jesse
Mentor, last week we had two injuries to
our starting quarterbacks. Nate Wiggins
and Marlon Humphrey. Nate Wiggins injury
was a lot scarier, but Marlon Humphre,
it was a little concerning as well, but
Jesse Men said, "Hey, Ravens fans, don't
be too concerned, y'all. Chill is good."
Minor stuff. They should be back
sometime next week. GUESS WHAT HAPPENED
TODAY? GUESS WHO pulled up to practice
today. We saw that number two jersey out
there, but then we saw that number 44
jersey out THERE, TOO. SO, BOTH NATE
Wiggins and Marlon Humphrey, they are
back in the building, back practicing,
back healthy. Jesse Mentor, you saved
our lives, man. You you you really
really did. You have changed everything
when it comes to being a Baltimore
Ravens fan. I I appreciated how he
didn't tiptoe around the injury
question. And I know there's a lot of
people who feel like, oh well, what's
the sense in head coaches uh letting
teams know about injury status and
letting fans know about injury status? I
get that. But at the same time, the
biggest difference between Jesse Mentor
and the guy who was previously here for
18 years, that's John Harbaugh, is that
with John Harball sometimes, a lot of
times he would lead us along. He would
feed us information. Oh, this guy is
dayto day. This guy is week to week. We
wouldn't see that player for months,
sometimes for the rest of the season. So
that that is just a big it was a big
disconnect that he created himself that
he didn't even have to. But now we seem
to be way past that. So Jesse Mentor, we
thank you for everything that you're
doing for this team. We are happy that
Teddy Buchanan is back. We happy that
Nate Wiggins is back. We happy and I
know a lot of Ravens fans are not happy
ABOUT IT, BUT HE'S HEALTHY THAT Marlon
Humphrey is back. And for everybody
that's doubting Marlon Humphrey cuz I
keep seeing it over and over and over.
This is going to be yet another
redemption season for him. Last season
he was set up to fail before the plays
even got started. But this year in this
system, in this defense with this
coaching staff, he is going to be a top
tier corner once again. But how are you
feeling about our Ravens getting some
core guys back like Teddy B, like Nasty
Nate, like Marlo? Let me know in the
comments section how hyped you are for
all three of them returning.
Now we at my favorite part of these
videos where we get to feature questions
from you. Let's get straight into it.
First question came from a team keeper
clean patron, my guy Martin. I
appreciate you and thank you for coming
up to chat about the Ravens during our
live stream on Saturday. Much love to
you, my friend. He said, "Sorry I
haven't sent in a comment in a while.
I've been doing my best to keep up. I've
tried putting myself into a football
coma so the season will get here. I
can't tell you how excited I am for
everything Ravens have been saying for
years to be proven right. New head
coach, new offensive line, uh, and best
of all, a 6'4 go up and get it guy. Uh,
which they had with Tez, but
unfortunately because of the
stubbornness of the old coaching staff,
he was never used when Ravens drafted
Jacobe Lane. All I saw was the name and
the height. Didn't know anything else.
Never saw him play a snap of football
before that. And somehow I felt that
this was the guy the Ravens have needed
for years. I'm hyped. I can't wait for
the season. Now back to my football
coma. Going back to sleep. Oh now you
gotta wake up now. Like we done seen the
first preseason. Yeah. Ain't no coma no
more. You are waking up my friend. And
yeah with Jacobe Lane. I love that. He
said he just saw the name. He saw the
height. Oh yeah. Yeah. That's the one.
But now everything else that we seen
about Jacobe Lane makes you even more
confident in him. SO WE SEEM LIKE WE got
one. Everything been happening right for
Jacobe Lane. So we looking forward to
seeing him play even more. always see
looking forward to seeing just him
continue to ball out. But even with Taz
Walker too, Taz Walker, we want to see
him get more involved on offense as well
because again, he just continues to
show. I can do this. I can make this
happen. So, we look forward to seeing
him, too.
Next question came from another Team
Keep It Clean patron, my guy Dan G.
Shout out to y'all Team Keep It Clean
patrons. I appreciate you. He said,
"Hello, Engraven. What's up, Dan?" He
said, "Hope everything is well with you
and the family. I know that I HAD A
GREAT weekend since I got everything I
wanted out of the first Ravens preseason
game. Not only did the Ravens win in
convincing fashion, but I got to see a
healthy amount of Joe Faniano playing in
this game. As a Raven fan from
Connecticut, I was very pleased not only
to see Faniano play so much, but that he
performed so well. My go, he was
fantastic.
Fantastic.
Love Joe Fano. Loved it. I didn't know
what to expect from him. I I didn't know
what was going to happen. I I feel like
he is in the lead for that QB3 spot, but
I feel like it's almost by default
because Skyler Thompson injured reserve
season done. Diego Pavia, he was
released. They just signed Austin Reed a
couple of days before the preseason
game. So Joe Feniano, he like we don't
even really have much conf competition
for that QB3 spot with him, but he came
in and he showed like, hey, ain't nobody
messing with me right now for QB3. I got
it. And then I did see some people and I
know how people get cuz it's preseason
and I know this the hype and the
excitement. A little craziness and a
little delusion creeps in there. I saw
SOME PEOPLE SAY, "HEY, THAT COULD BE
QB2." ANYWAY, CONTINUING THOUGH, he
said, "My question to you is, how do you
feel about Joe Faniano's chances of
making QB3 now? The last time I messaged
in and asked about QB3, you seem
confident that Skylar Thompson would be
the guy." Oh, yeah. I was a million10%
confident that Skyler Thompson was going
to be the guy, but then he got hurt and
obviously that changed everything. So,
right now, it's looking like Joe Fano's
spot to lose. But let let's see what the
Ravens do. If Ravens keep everything as
is, then I think it's is it's his. It's
a done deal. But let's see if the Ravens
bring in somebody else. If they bring in
another veteran or something like that,
let's see how they operate. If they
don't bring in another player, then I
think he got it. But if they do bring in
somebody else, it would all depend on
who the player is. Anyway, he said, uh,
things have changed now given Thompson's
sudden and unfortunate injury and
Pavia's departure from the team. I
understand things could change still and
I know we have Austin Reed to give Fiano
some competition, but as things are, I'm
liking the chances for my guy from Yukon
more and more. He said, "Go Ravens. Go
Huskies. Go team. Keep it clean." Hey,
go Dan G. We appreciate you.
Next question came from my guy Graham.
He said, "Hey, engraven. I got some
things to say about the Ravens preseason
game. First off, all I want to say is
great performance by our Ravens. I
noticed the players seemed a lot more
comfortable this year in the preseason
than last and having more fun out on the
field. That's true. They seemed a whole
lot more comfortable. And what's crazy
about that, we're going to get into that
a little bit later this week, but what's
crazy is about that is that they're in a
brand new system. How and and these were
a lot of rookies and guys with not much
experience playing in the game. How is
it that we talk about it later anyway?
He said the quarterbacks had a great
game, all three of them, but Joe Feniano
really stood out to me in this game. He
looked amazing. Yeah, he he did look
really good. He said Austin Reed also
looked great for only being on the
roster for less than a week. Yeah, he
looked
talk about that later though. Anyway, he
said the defense was amazing. The Eagles
never converted on a third down. Yes. At
the end, they let the Dirty Birds
convert in a fourth, but after that game
by them, I'll give them boys a break.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. like literally
all game they were locking down all game
and I know his backups. I know it's
preseason but I know the Ravens they
were strapping up them Eagles. Anyway,
he said uh Randall Hypner Lane and Serat
had their moments and it was a great
overall gaming performance. Also, we
need to keep Leonte West upon return
that he can turn and out and explosive
play at any moment. Sorry for yapping
too much and thanks for providing team
keep it clean a place to wind down after
a long day. And last of all, have a
great one and team keep it clean and
engraving. Y'all are the best. Hey
Grant, we appreciate you and we love you
my friend. Thank you. Number one
defense. Next question came from my guy
Ryan. He said, "What's up in Graven?
Hope all is well." Hey, Ravens 1 and0
right now. It's a new era. So, yeah, I
say things are pretty good. Said, "I
just wanted to ask you if you think we
can have the number one defense this
year like in 2023." Man, I know some
people have been asking about that and
I've been saying at least top five. At
least top five, like almost minimum. But
it's like when when you see what they
did in that first game and how Jesse
meant he wasn't like he was holding back
but he was still send it. It's like ooh
we going to be we're going to be
aggressive. We looking like we getting
back to that old thing the good old
thing not the last two years old thing.
Anyway uh he said Ravens got one of the
best on paper defenses in the league.
And now with a defensive wizard in Jesse
Mentor. Uh he said they finally have the
right coaching. When he was at Michigan
he led them to a number one defense in
all of college football. Oof. Oof. He
said also with the Chargers, he had
back-to-back top five defense in his
first two years in 2024 and 2025 along
with the number one scoring defense.
Oof.
So, there's a trend there. It seems to
be some consistency there. There seems
to be something that Jesse Mentor
really, really knows about playing some
I can't say good, great defense. But
let's continue. He said he did that with
a Chargers defense that doesn't have
nearly as good personnel as the Ravens.
Also, when the Ravens had the number one
defense in 2023 and led the league in
sacks, Anthony Weaver was a defensive
line coach. Yes, he was. He was here. I
remember when Jada had brought that up
about a week and a half ago and I was,
"Oh my goodness, that's yes, it's true.
Anthony Weaver was in a building and
he's been there for a lot of Nami
Madabk's career. He Oh man, he said, "I
know the Texans exist and they probably
will have the number one defense again
this year because that defense is
generational." That boy said
generational
mentor. Hey, you want to show our guy
Ryan something? Show us how generational
you are and make this team generational.
Jesse, what's up, baby? Anyway, he said,
"But it's just a thought and I like
being delusional." sometimes. LOL. YOU
AIN'T SAY NOTHING CRAZY. You You really
didn't You ain't say nothing crazy. So,
I mean, I don't think you're delusional
at all. And he said, "I appreciate
everything you do." No, Ryan, I
appreciate you. And again, there was no
delusion in that whatsoever.
Next question came from my guy Mike. He
said, "I got to go to our first
preseason game, and I must say it was
lit." Oh, yeah. It It had to be a lot.
Like we had a lot of fun watching from
home. But for those of y'all who got to
see it in person, let us know in the
comment section how that game was to be
at in person. And if you ain't go to
that game, which games are y'all going
to this year? Which games you got
circled on the calendar? Were you flying
out? You driving out? Let us know which
ones you going to be attending. He said
Jacobe Lane and Elijah Sarat, they did
their thing. But Tyler Loop, he got to
get better with the field goals. He
definitely needs more practice. Uh they
should give him more competition on the
field. Uh, we'll see. Again, Bashadi,
you already let it be known, so we'll
see. [snorts] Uh, he said, "But we won
24/7. It's not bad at all." I hope Tyler
Luke plays better because they might be
looking for someone else to replace him
if he keeps missing field goals. Yeah,
let's give him some time and see. Let's
give him some time and see. While
Bashadi Bashadi said what he said, he
laid it out. Um, I still do think that
in order for them to even think about
bringing in some competition, Tyler Loop
would just have to really it would just
have to really really not look good at
all and they would have to think like
this is not promising at all. We're not
close to being there yet and we don't
want them want him to get there. So,
let's just hope that that miskick that
Tyler Loop had that was the last miskick
that he has of the season.
Conflict ahead. Next question came from
my guy MJ. He said, "What's going on in
Raven? Got a part question and a little
rant. Okay. He said, "With all this
attention that's going around for Jacobe
Lane, do you think he could take over
Flowers at the number ONE SPOT?" WHOA,
WHOA, WHOA. NOW, what's interesting is
that he actually sent this, I believe,
before the game. Uh, because he sent
this on August 14th. Yeah, that that was
on Friday. He sent this on Friday night.
So, that's before the game. But, um,
could he take over Zay Flowers as number
one wide receiver? I don't think so.
just not right now. Um, and then you you
got to look at the pay grade, too. Zay
Flower just got paid a whole lot of
money. So, that man will be relied upon.
He will be used a lot. Not to say Jacob
Lane can't. And hey, if Jacobe Lane is
hot, hey, keep that man hot. Keep it
going. Don't force feed just because
somebody getting paid. If if something
else is working at that time, yeah, make
it happen. Obviously, you want
everything to work. You want everybody
to eat, but they're going to be some.
So, yeah. But as far as him taking over
at number one, not right now. Um,
anyway, he said, uh, and if so, do you
think that Flowers is the type of person
who is going to be proud of his teammate
or will there be conflict on who gets
the ball more? Z Flowers he had, um,
with his cameraman, uh, I want to say
AP, I think his name is, I forget his
name, but, um, cuz his cameraman posts a
lot of videos, a lot of behind the
scenes stuff, which is really, really
cool. But he asked Zay Flowers a
question a couple weeks ago where he
said, "Would you rather
he says something in regards to Zay
Flowers uh just going crazy with it,
just reaching all of his goals today or
would he rather see his teammate reach
his goals today and like Z Flowers get
it another day?" And Z Flower said, "I
would rather my teammate get it." He
said, "Cuz I could just always get it
another time, but I would rather see my
teammate get it." And it it was the I'm
paraphrasing really really bad. The
question was much better than that and
the answer was much better than that
too. You can go to the Instagram and
check it out. But um so I think Zay
Flowers will be fine with other people
going off too. He's still obviously
going to want his. He's a receiver. Like
he's a football player. He's on the
team. Everybody on the team they want to
do their thing. They want to contribute.
They they they want to show like why
they on this team. They want to whatever
position they play, they want to excel.
Um, but with Zay Flowers, I think
another thing that helps too with what
it will help him, say for instance, he
has a game where he only got four
catches for 57 yards in a game. Hey,
Ravens win, he going to be happy. He
going to be smiling around again. That's
why we call Z Flowers a golden
retriever. He just be running around
smiling. But something that will help
him smile even more, his bank account
like that. That man just got paid a lot
of money. So, I think he will be a okay.
He going to be proud of his teammate for
sure. I don't think there going to be no
conflict with that whatsoever. Anyway,
he said in a bad situation if this does
happen, I can see Flowers asking for a
trade after this season. I also could
see Baitman leaving. Then we would only
have Lane Serat and Walker. Ah, no. I I
don't see Fl again. He just got paid. I
don't see him asking for no trade. Only
way I can
only way I can see him asking for a
trade possibly is if Lamar left. But
Lamar ain't going nowhere cuz you know
Ravens, they going to get this thing
done. They going to get this thing
worked out and he going to be here for a
long time. Anyway, he said uh if all if
this all magically happens, then this
could draw Lamar out to sign an
extension. It will be starting wide
receiver all over from scratch. And I'm
not sure if Lamar wants that regardless
of how good the coaches are because
after this year or two, if everything
goes well, we will definitely lose
Doyle. It's a very scary possible
future. It is. But I I I all the stuff
that you're saying about the wide
receivers, while it's possible, I just
think is so unlikely to happen. So that
does it for today's video. I appreciate
