Video summary

In this recap of *Reacher* Season 4, Episode 4, titled "Karambits and Pieces," the hosts discuss a pivotal episode filled with significant character developments and plot twists. The narrative picks up immediately after Cardell's dramatic fall from a building, setting a tone of high stakes as Reacher investigates the mysterious contents of a flash drive. A major emotional beat occurs when Samson, having served with Reacher for eleven years, decides to protect him by abandoning his own wife in a parking lot under a tarp rather than letting her face potential danger. While this act initially raises questions about Samson's loyalty, it ultimately reveals a strong personal code, though the hosts note that his wife remains a suspicious figure whose true intentions are still unclear to the audience. The review also delves into several criticisms regarding the episode's logic and security protocols within the story. The hosts express disbelief at how easily Tamar infiltrates a top-secret government facility using only an old badge and a claim that her car is in the shop, noting that real-world security measures would have been far more rigorous. Additionally, they question the competence of the guards who fail to stop Mrs. Green from escaping and later criticize the inconsistent handling of Reacher during his fight with CIA agents at the docks. Specifically, they point out the confusion over whether the agents intended to keep him alive or kill him, as well as the strange choice of using an ice pick instead of a direct shot when he was most vulnerable. Despite these logical gaps, the hosts praise the episode for its thrilling choreography and unexpected reveals, particularly the introduction of Indonesian martial artists wielding karambit knives who appear to be connected to previous victims. The discussion highlights how the show continues to challenge Reacher, forcing him into situations where he is outnumbered and surrounded by hostile forces, including a standoff in a hotel room with armed police. The hosts emphasize that while Reacher often relies on "white privilege" to escape tight spots, this episode tests his limits as he tries to clear his name without the ability to simply jump into a subway tunnel. Ultimately, they conclude that there is likely much more hidden on the flash drive than initially thought and warn viewers not to fully trust Samson or his wife yet, as the mystery deepens with every revelation.

What is going on everybody? How y'all doing? How y'all doing? How y'all doing? It is BA Barry and Lamont and we are back for Reacher season 4 episode 4 titled Karambits and Pieces. Reacher talks to Samson, Tamar breaks into a government structure, Jacob gets bad news, and the team learns information that changes everything. Spoiler spoiler spoilers. Lamont um we ended last episode where our old boy uh Cardell jumped off the bridge not the bridge but the building man head first for the most part and we're like what the hell was on the disc. As each episode progresses, I love how it starts. They pick up right where things leave off. Um there was a lot of um reveals in this episode, too, that I I can't wait to talk to you about. Um some inconsistencies at one point, which um I'll mention a little bit later um as far as my criticisms, but overall I did enjoy it um especially this opening scene. Um I got a tickle out of Samson just like I've served with this man for 11 years and he has had my back and I'm not going to abandon him in a parking lot under a tarp. I was like you go, sir. You know what I'm saying? At first, I kind of thought you was a a hole jerk. But you may be pretty cool. You may have a code that I can get behind. You know what I'm saying? Anyway, that's kind of how I felt about the episode. Not perfect cuz I'mma get to my criticism, but I did enjoy it especially the scene I just described. But how are you feeling about this latest episode of Reacher? Did you like it? Did you hate it? Are you somewhere in the middle? Let let us know, sir. Let us know. >> I I enjoyed it, man. I you know, I'm thankful that you allowed me to do these with you because I love Reacher. This show is great. It's one of the favorite shows that me and you do together. And because we review it, you know, I've got to pay a little bit more attention to it. And I'm glad that I'm being forced to do that because I get to pay attention to some of the tidbits the writers put in there. And so, I really love this episode. Uh not my favorite, but I I enjoyed the episode. I felt like it continued where it left off just like you said. And I had the same sentiment Bea Avery had, audience. For a minute, I was starting to feel certain kind of way about Sims. Like he did have a code. Like I was really, you know, I didn't think that he's the mastermind of anything. And I was he almost won me over in that moment. Until we get on with the story, ladies and gentlemen. >> Oh. >> And then we get on with the with the story. And I I I, you know, I don't know whether or not I still can really trust him or not. I still have my spidey senses up. But that wife, ladies and gentlemen, keep an eye on her. >> That was my next question, sir. Oh my gosh, you can keep the mic. I was going to ask you is your spidey sense up still for the wifey? Let me let me know. >> Yes. Yes, spidey sense is still It's tingling so bad I'm electric sliding, ladies and gentlemen. That's what my legs is doing. Y'all just can't see it. >> Okay. >> And something that's going to take a whole lot more than what we've seen so far for me to really believe in that wife. >> Yeah, um a little bit later on in the episode, she was just like, "Hey man, you're Jonah." Or something like that. I think was the term where you're on the ship and every time you pop up is bad luck, you know, bad karma. Get out of here. We I would like it if you just stayed away from us. You know, like um he did something wrong in a sense. And you know, it was funny because the the other gentleman uh Reese was like, "Hey, can you give me a ride back to the to the hotel?" He was like, "F off." Or something like that. I was I was tickled. [laughter] I was tickled. I was tickled. But now, let me let me go ahead and get this criticism out of the way first. Um >> Okay. >> Tamara breaks into the government structure with Anna Wilkes badge to try to find out the information that was on the driver that she downloaded. I thought the security for this structure, this building was atrocious. Just the Yeah, she did get she did get ran out of there. But she shouldn't have even I mean, first of all, it's it was suspect that you walking up to the gate. Now, the gym the security guard did say that like, "We don't get many walk-ups." And she was like, "Yeah, my car's in the shop." I had the Uber or the Lyft drop me off at the coffee shop, so now I'm walking up. But the way that she just looking down, I mean, I I don't know. If I am at the head of security of a government structure like this, that I mean, that's 72 different red flags right there. Like, no, I we want to look at you. We want to scan you in. You know, you got That's one badge. You need to have to We need to scan your pupils. All that. But then, LaMont, when she goes inside, she's like, "Hey, I don't I don't know what I'm doing. I don't know where I'm supposed to go. >> [laughter] >> I just got transferred." And then the lady like, "Hey, let me log you in on the old lady name." I'm like, "What kind of policy and procedure is this?" Like, you can't even get away You can't get get away with this at a call center job. You know what I'm saying? No no shade to my call center I've worked at a call center before. I'm I'm just saying. This supposed to be the the G14 classified. LaMont, am I >> [laughter] >> So, I was rolling I was rolling my eyes. Um now, again, she was only in there for 5 10 minutes before they were like, "Okay, something's awry." You know, you know what I'm saying? So, I mean, they weren't just completely incompetent, but I was over there like, "Wait a minute. Where what's going on? Am Am I Do you agree disagree? How How are you feeling about that?" >> Man, audience, let us know, too. B Avery is 100% right. You cannot be a top-secret facility that a damn investigator reporter can barely get information on, and then when you do discover this top-secret facility, it ain't top secret to get your ass up in there. Come on, man. >> It was too easy. Stop it. >> You You're not going to have a mall cop as the security the security guard at the gate. >> Yeah. >> They have better security guarding Star Island in the Miami home district than this damn government facility have, okay? I know cuz I done broke in there myself. So, and and like B Avery said, then once they get in, once she gets in, maybe it was the sister wanted to help a sister. So, I'm I'm willing to give that part of the past, B Avery. I'm willing to give the sister trying to help another sister a pass. I'm willing to give that a pass. But what I'm not willing to give a pass is to the second-rate, third-grade, butter-cutter cops that could not catch Mrs. Green. And then Mrs. Green goes right back past the mall cop who You're the one that called him on her. And you weren't prepared for her to run back past your ass? No way. That's Folks, if this is going to be a top-secret government facility, you are going to have RoboCops >> Yeah. >> at the gate. You're going to have Robo cops in the facility. And then you might even have one Terminator 2 cop in there as well. So, you know, I'm with B Avery. It was comical. It was I Look, I liked it, but it was very comical. >> Yeah, uh it was. Even adding on to it's how uh Jacob and the other guy were outside in the car, you know, posted up, and they came around like They're going to peep They're going to see that and be like, "Okay, what what are these jokers over here doing?" Scoping the you know, binoculars and it come It's just like I I don't know. It Well, no, I do know. That That just That That didn't execute that well um in my opinion. Um you know, it it was funny, you know, that they ran into the Asian lady. I like, "Oh, I'm so sorry." And you know, spilled the coffee and how fast is she eating? And all that. So, um I I don't know. You guys let us know, you know, what you think in the comment section. Subscribe to both of our channels um if you agree, even if you disagree. You know, it's nice to subscribe to some people that you you um you disagree with. But uh Lamar, have you ever been to the bar at 9:00 a.m. to get beer and scotch? >> Bro, I haven't even been to a bar at 10:00 p.m. I don't drink alcohol. I mean, that's not one of my food. It's my vice, ladies and gentlemen. So, if I show up at the bar, I'm there for chips and dip, okay? So, no. >> Okay. Okay. Yeah, me too. I mean, I don't I don't have any issues with alcohol at all, but it's just not my cup of tea. I probably will have maybe two drinks a year, you know? Uh but but Samson, he just saw his friend dive to his death, and he needs to uh go shake some things up. And so, when he gets to the bar, he starts conversing with Reacher, and we find out a little bit more details of what people may think is on this drive. So, he did work with Pootra and trained him and and or was over the the department um or the group that trained his forces um to keep the scientists safe and we got to find out what the scientists are doing. But, when he left Pootra turned into Hitler. Um you know, he turned into um I forgot the guy from Africa that used to chop up Leopold. Uh he was a monster, apparently. Did a horrible things and Samson is um is getting blamed for it. Do you think that is all that it is or do you think there's still some some uh mystery behind uh uh do you think that's all that's on the drive? Or do you think there's there's more that we still haven't found out yet? And do you believe Samson as well? >> I don't believe I want to. But, you can have team Let me tell you something about politicians. Politicians are some of the best liars. The name itself, poly, many, tician, lies. That's their names. So, no, I don't believe Samson. Even though I think he's trying to play psychological games with Reacher and he doesn't know just how powerful Reacher is and stoic Reacher is mentally, but I don't believe it and B.A. Baracus, you can gosh darn believe there is more on that flash drive than meets the eye. And like Reacher asked him, what if your head of chief of staff was willing to kill himself over what's on this drive, what is it you're willing to kill yourself for? And then why do you want this thing back so badly? So, no, I don't trust him, B.A. Baracus. I don't think you should trust him, either. >> Yeah, um I want to trust him, but you You I I don't and um I'm not, you know, just to be on the safe side, but you know, it'll be surprising if uh in the end, you know, he comes through as uh some type of ally uh something like that, but you know, we'll we'll we'll just have to see. I do trust him more uh than I trust his wife though. Big time. Is it going to be a good thing? >> You agree with that? >> I >> Okay. >> I agree with that. >> Okay. >> I agree with that. I think the wife is a mastermind stuff to some degree on something. >> Got you. Now, uh Jacob, um I feel sorry for him. I feel sorry for him. You know, he found out that his uh nephew is dead and um that the garbage man is the one that turned it in or made the call. Um did you have any impression that he could still be alive or did you know he was dead and you know, it was just a matter of time before he was going to find out the truth? >> If you recall, you remember we talked about this when they went to the frat house and me and you kind of we dibble-dabble a little bit around and you asked me to pull out the notebook. >> Mhm. >> I felt like I felt like he was dead a little bit. I felt like he was a lost cause at that moment because I was trying to put the pieces together as to what would cause the mom to kill herself with the son out there. Normally parents, if you still got a living child, you're not going to off yourself. So, that was kind of why that was kind of why that um uh theory came to be. And you know, are you for sure can we really be for sure that he's dead? >> Yeah, that sound about it. He was standing over the body at the bar. [laughter] >> We've seen this type of stuff and you remember they found Unique's body. >> Mhm. >> Could this be a plant? Could you know, this be some high-tech because this is an international thing, B. And when you talk about international, you talk about you Okay. Okay. >> Yeah, I mean I mean, you know, you you've you've thrown theories out there that I thought was crazy and it ended up being true. So, I mean I can't just write you off. I don't think it is, but you know, we'll we'll see. We'll see. >> Look, I don't either. I I don't either. But, I I I don't think we should close the door to the fact that because of the powerful forces involved, you know, just don't be so audience. If somehow someway this nephew pop back up, that's all I'm saying. That's all I'm saying. >> How'd you feel about the fight with the CIA agents at the docks or the pier, whatever, in the warehouse? >> Man, I'll say this. This season is the season where they've let Reacher take the most licks as if he's getting long in the tooth or something because every one of them got licks on him except for old boy that's the boss. Now, the way he got away, stop it. You could have shot him. Like, when he said, "Nope, you're not going to get me." and he took his big ass and jumped on that fence, you could have popped him right in the calf. He's done. >> Well, let me interject cuz that was part of my criticisms. Right when he hopped over there, said, "Keep him alive." They did say that. And so, I was thinking that they had the one of the guys that was pointing the gun, it was another tranquilizer, you know? But, what doesn't make sense to me is when he was fighting one of the gentlemen and the henchmen in the freezer room with all the ice cubes, one of them had a pick and I'm like, "Okay, you or maybe it was a crowbar. I'm like, are you trying to stab him or you trying to just knock him out? But then the next guy came in and started unloading the magazine. So, I was like, wait a minute. I thought you was trying to keep him alive. But why why are you um, you know, hand you know, uh uh um trigger finger over here. But uh I mean, am I tripping or that that's that's how I saw it or and you know, interpreted the scene. It kind of bothered me. Still entertaining. And I I do like that they got licks on them. I don't want Reacher just to be completely invincible. You know, I want him to be challenged in a way. Um But that was I mean, so like I like the choreography, but that part was you know, I didn't I didn't I didn't like. Do you you agree or disagree? >> That's my point. Like, you made it unrealistic at that point. This man y'all I mean, if you're going to shoot him in the ice room, why not try to shoot him right there when he's jumping over the fence? Like, did you change your mind because he started kicking y'all ass once he got in the ice pit the ice pit? And B A B, that was a icicle. That's exactly what that was. That I mean, that thing is sharp. It'll gut a pig. And they was trying to get him with it. And one of the one of the little CIA agents looked like he was feeling froggy like, dude, I can take you. Yeah, right, bro. Yeah, you thought you could. And for whatever the reason Reacher didn't take out the boss for whatever the reason. I mean, you know, he could have, but he didn't. But he took his stuff, he threw it in the river, and he walked away. But Reacher, this man tried to he tried to kill you. He shot like six bullets into the wall trying to hit you. You're a better man than me. >> He leaned on him though, man. Um he real did. I really did. Um Again, rest in peace Anna. Sorry that you went out the way that you did, especially pretty much knowing that your son was dead and you you had no way out. Um I wonder if there's going to be a fracture in the relationship between Jacob and Reacher because he probably blames him for Anna's death now because it's like you told her you was a cop. You know, you think he will or you think it'll be swept under the rug? >> Eventually it'll get swept under the rug. But, you know, you never know when someone is grieving and going through pain and this is two people this man done lost in within a week. So, he's really feeling it. But, he's lost two people and he might have gained him a girlfriend. There was some energy going on between him and Green. There was some energy and it's more than just putting sugar in her coffee. >> Yeah, there's also a lot of energy in that guy that fell off the the track at the at the subway onto the track and got electrocuted. Is that real? Can that really happen like that? >> Yeah, it can. If if it's if the if the the the electricity is on properly, yeah, you can fry your butt like chicken. >> Wow, yeah, yeah. Uh yeah, Miss Layla. You know, they they were together and guys was staking out the place and followed them downstairs and he threw her on the on the train. Go to the hotel. I'll catch up with you. Had a little skirmish. Hides in the subway and goes back. And Lamont, we find a pattern. We notice that Ben has the same similar cut as some other victims that went down with the similar weapon with a curve with martial arts from Indonesia. And who do we know from Indonesia, Lamar? Tell me how you feel about that reveal at the end. Did you see it coming? Let us know. >> I did not. Bro, they got me with that one. They got me with that one. Like That's why I say I love this show because for as much as I think I can pick up on everything that is going on, they always have one reveal in there that throws me off. I enjoyed it and I like how be I'm be honest with you, bro. I've been loving how they're ending these episodes. Now, you know, each episode kind of warns you there's going to be like a suicide death, that type thing. But even though you have that warning, you don't know what's going to how it's going to come, what's going to be the big reveals. This was a big reveal for me. How did you feel about it? >> Um I didn't see it coming either. Um you know, they walked in there and there's already some dead bodies, but I was like, "Oh, there's going to be more dead bodies." Uh you know, what what are they going to do with these knives here? Then I put it together. Uh I was also kind of interested like, you know, why there are no guns, but that's just not their style, you know, and I only thought that for like a second. You know, um you know, martial artists do have a different mindset whether they're good or evil. Uh but I'm really eager to see how much damage they can do. Um you know, who they're going to be fighting with these knives in the end and what is their ultimate goal? What is their agenda? What is their objective? We kind of we kind of got that worked out there. Uh but it sucks for Reacher, man. He keeps uh hovering over dead bodies and cops coming like, "Freeze! Put your hands up." And he's like, "I didn't do it. I was just trying to find out like you, you know, so how is he going to get out of this mess?" He doesn't have a subway to dive into. He's in a hotel room somewhere. So, what you think? You going to jump out the window? >> The only way he getting out of this is white privilege because that's pretty much the way he's gotten out of everything this whole season. It's white privilege. If me and you was interjected and changed in the Reacher with Anna, we wouldn't been walking out of the damn interrogation room. You kidding me? Now, mind you, I love I love Reacher. I love the guy playing Reacher, but like B. Avery said, if he don't jump his ass out that window, the only thing getting him up out of there is white privilege. >> Yes. Yes. We're going to see though. We're going to see. Is that all of your final thoughts, sir? >> Those are my final thoughts. Audience, keep watching. This is some of the best TV on right now. It's a great, great show. And um we want to hear from you. Give us novels in the comment section. >> Novels, booklets. But guys, we just want to thank you so much for tuning in for our Reacher season 4 episode 4 recap and review for Karambits and Pieces.
