RAVENS VS SAINTS - MY POSTGAME THOUGHTS!

Heading into this game, so many Ravens fans felt like, man, them New Orleans Saints, they ain't going to be able to hang with us. We are going to steamroll them. They looked at that match up last week against the Detroit Lions and said, "We are not them. They are not us. There's no way that New Orleans is going to hang with Baltimore." But New Orleans not only hung with the Ravens, but they hung up 24 points while the Baltimore Ravens only put up 17. therefore resulting in a victory for New Orleans and a loss for our Baltimore Ravens. And I'm here to share my postgame thoughts on that matchup that ended terribly. Now, things weren't all bad because we hit a significant milestone. We crossed the 90,000 subscriber mark. And that was the good news from the game. That was the the greatest part of the game for us. And shout out to y'all. Appreciate y'all. Make sure you subscribe to the channel. Click that thumbs up. Leave a like on the video. But let's get into this game and let's start off with the Baltimore Ravens offense. Now, we know how the game ended and what seemed to be a miscommunication, a slow up on a route because Lamar Jackson was like, "Look, Rashad Baitman, he been doing his thing this game." Zay Flowers was out. Jacobe Lane, of course, going to be out for a little while. So, all right, it's Rashad Baitman's time. I'm going to him in the clutch. And what happened on that final play that officially ended the game? Uh Lamar Jackson threw a pass intended for Rashad Baitman, but when you looked AT THE PLAY, RASHAD BAITMAN WAS NOWHERE to be seen. So I'm like, what's going on? But then they showed the replay, they showed the route, they showed Lamar make the throw and Lamar Jackson after the throw was thrown and it was intercepted, he just looked down and he was like, [clears throat] and Rashad Baitman, I don't think I've ever seen Rashad Baitman have a reaction like that before. But in my opinion, and let me know if you feel the same way, but the way that Lamar Jackson reacted and the way that Rashad Baitman reacted, it looked like Rashad Baitman, he was the one that made the mistake cuz it seemed like he slowed up on the route. And when he was banging on the field and looking super frustrated, it seemed like that was him saying, "Ah man, I messed up." Because the reason I say that is because we've seen it so many times. If Lamar Jackson throws a short pass, if he throw overthrows it, if he throws an interception and it's his fault, usually every time Lamar Jackson will go, he'll hit himself in the chest and be like, "Oh man, that's my fault. That's on me. He ain't do that for that play." He just looked down and he just looked disappointed and Rashad Baitman was super super frustrated. So, it seemed like that was Rashad Baitman's fault. Uh, but who knows? I maybe we'll find out one day, but it was just that play pretty much exemplified the offense in this game to where they showed promise, but it just wasn't enough. Um, the way the game started with Derrick Henry, he ended up getting that touchdown. Uh, but with even with Derrick Henry, he was not used. I don't want to say he wasn't used enough, but in the key moments, the Ravens, Declan Doyle, this was not a good game from Declan Doyle overall, especially in the clutch moments, the moments where we needed it the most. Declan Doyle did not come through in this game. Now, it's important to understand and to recognize that Declan Doyle is a rookie offensive coordinator or rookie play caller, excuse me. This is his first year officially calling plays in the entirety of the game. So, we knew and we already prefaced this season. We said it plenty of times, there will be. We don't want to see them. There will be, we don't want to go through them, but there will be growing pains for this Baltimore Ravens offense. And today, it was definitely all of that. We went through all of the growing pains. Derrick Henry last week he had like 144 yards, three rushing touchdowns. This week he had 16 carries for 68 yards, averaged 4.3 yards a carry, which is nice, and had one touchdown. His longest run of the game was eight yards. Eight yards. New Orleans was all over Derk Henry. But see, that wasn't even the biggest issue when it came to the Ravens offense and Derrick Henry. The biggest issue, in my opinion, was the clutch time. And let's fast forward to toward the end of the game where I believe the score was tied. I'm pretty sure, but it was third and one. And y'all know the exact play that I'm talking about, but it was third and one. And Lamar Jackson, he snapped the ball. And I was thinking, okay, we getting ready to run with Derrick Henry, right? Nope. Raven said, "No, we ain't running with Derrick Henry on third and one. We They tried to do They took a shot. They took a shot and the the the issue there wasn't an issue with them taking a shot on third and one. It was just this the sequence of plays which was the real issue because on third and one where they needed they had to score. They decided they wanted to take a shot and it was a great play call. It was a great execution at least from Declan Doyle's side, from the offensive line side, from Lamar Jackson side cuz he put it on the money for Chris Moore. He laid that thing. Perfect pass for Chris Moore, but the defender just got in there and knocked it out. Excellent play by Saints cornerback. But the issue was the [snorts] followup. It was like, "All right, we ain't get it on third and one. What are we going to do next? We punted the ball." I feel like if that was going to be your play call on third and one, then you should have went for it. And actually, just to rewind it back even more, you probably should have ran the ball with Derrick Henry on third and one, try to get that first down and then threw that shot play in on first or second down because that would have opened things up that much because it was a beautiful play call, but just the timing of it in my opinion was not the best. It wasn't. And the fact that the RA like if if the Ravens would have decided ahead of time that all right, hey, if we don't get this play, if we don't get this this shot play, then we're going to go for it on fourth down. Had they decided that before, okay, cool, take your shot, but they clearly didn't because they ended up punting the very next play. And it was like, oh, oh, oh, okay. Well, that's that was a mistake. And then something else that stuck out to me and a lot of us in this game early on, I believe it was in the second quarter, Lamar throws the ball downfield, throws a strike to number 81, TZ Walker, and we like, "Oh, there go that boy TZ." Oh, this about to be a game. Rashad Baitman, he going to do his thing. And now, who's up next after Rashad Baitman? Oh, it's Mr. TZ Walker. TZ Walker has been waiting on this type of opportunity. TZ Walker has been waiting on his shot and his number to be called. This is the game right here. Zay Flowers out. Jacobe Lane out. Rashad Baitman is up. TZ Walk is up. He's healthy now. Oh man, this thing about to go crazy. And guess what happened? TZ Walker had one more target for the remainder of the game. Declan Doyle as the Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator. He did something that the previous Ravens offensive coordinator Tar Monin had been doing for a long time. Well, for the past two years, and that's where TZ Walker makes a nice play, TZ Walker makes a nice catch. TZ Walker catches a deep shot. And then we were never to hear from TZ Walker again. And that's unfortunate. And look, I know again it's one game like we mentioned earlier. It's one game. This is just the start. This is a brand new era. This a brand new offense. I get all of that. But at the same time, Jesse Mentor, he told us from Jump, he said, "Continue to have those high expectations for us as a coaching staff." He said, "Ravens fans, do not give us low expectations. Keep them high." And that's exactly what we doing. And that's why we so disappointed with the way that this offense was run. We know our number one receiver was out, but y'all had more than enough time. And shout out to New Orleans cuz New Orleans ain't lay down. Much respect to New Orleans, but y'all Ravens, y'all had plenty of time to game plan. Y'all had plenty of time to make adjustments. You had plenty of time to decide like, "Hey, this who's going to be the weapon? We gonna get this these guys involved in X, Y, and Z." But it was just lackluster today. It it really really was. And I from jump the starters were Rashad Baitman and Chris Moore. And I guess the Ravens take it on a game by-game basis because obviously Chris Moore, he was signed to the practice squad um this off season. And well, he made the practice squad this offseason. He obviously got promoted to the active roster after last week's game and Jacobe Lane's injury. But with Chris Moore, he got signed toward the end of training camp. And with that, our number one receiver was Z Flowers. Our number two was Rashad Baitman. Our number three initially in the offseason was TZ Walker. Then number four was Jacobe Lane. Jacobe Lane leapfrog TZ Walker. Uh so then it was a Flowers Rashad Baitman, Jacobe Lane, TZ Walker. It was not Chris Moore. But in this game, the Ravens, their starters were Rashad Baitman and Chris Moore. So, they went with the most experienced. They didn't go with their original depth chart. They they they switched it up. But regardless, why was TZ Walker not more involved? Why were there not more shots for him? Why was there not more opportunities for number 81? That was really, really disappointing to see. It it really really was. Um because this offense, they they showed promise. They really did. They showed promise. Derrick Henry again, he he started doing his thing. He had to grind it out this game. He really did cuz New Orleans Saints was not letting him go off like last week at all. The offensive line, they struggled. Ronnie Stanley, he started this game, but then initially he ended up coming out the game. Carson Vincent ended up finishing it out. And I think what and maybe Ronnie Stanley's toe was really bothering him that much more because he obviously started the game, but then there was a play where I think Chase Young just literally blew right past him. Maybe it was Chase Young, maybe it was somebody else. I don't remember. But whoever the pass rusher was, they blew right past Ronnie Stanley, got to Lamar Jackson for the sack, and we never saw Ronnie Stanley again after that. So a lot of people like, man, Ronnie Stanley this, Ronnie Stanley that. But then Ronnie Stanley ain't play no more after that. So maybe they were like, you know what, that toe injury, maybe it flared up or something like that. I don't know what happened, but we saw Carson Vincent for the rest of the game. But the offensive line pass protection, it just was not it today. Chase Young, he was having himself a day. And just really New Orleans pass rush overall. Uh Lamar got sacked a couple times. He got pressured uh a lot. And Saints were just a lot of times they were selling out. It seemed like they was selling out and like look Lamar all that stuff. Oh, keep him in the pocket. It was nothing about that. But get to him. Get to him. And not that the offensive line was Swiss cheese or anything like that, but this was not one of their better days. It certainly wasn't. Um so it it was it was frustrating to see, man. It really was. Um Lamar Jackson, he ended up having he went 21 for 31 for 235 yards, had a touchdown, and that touchdown was very, very nice. It just a lot of times when Lamar's back there in this game, things just look so simple a lot of times. But then there were times where he really got pressured, he had to move around. Things ain't look so simple after that. Um but that touchdown that Lamar Jackson had on a pass intended for Rashad Baitman, it went to Rashad B. Rashad Baitman called it touchdown beautiful. looked easy, but then he also had an interception on the passing tender for Rashad Baitman and Lamar threw it. It looked like, oh, okay, what's going to happen here and the defender just caught it. It just looked easy for the defender. But then again, looking at the replay, it looked like, let me know if I'm wrong, but it looked like Rashad Baitman might have slowed up a bit and Rashad Baitman did something that may have been incorrect. But again, I I I don't know for sure. Derek Henry, 16 carries for 68 yards, uh, one touchdown. on Lamar Jackson. He ran him four times for 34 yards. Um Justin Hill had two carries for six yards. Uh so Rashad Baitman, seven catches, 88 yards, a touchdown. Mark Andrews, he had on the very first drive, he had a semi drop, but he had a pass where Lamar Jackson threw it to him and Mark Andrews just wasn't ready yet. So the ball kind of hit him. He kind of he kind of dropped it, but he he wasn't ready for it. But after that, he ain't dropped nothing else again. He caught everything and he was making some really really nice catches, man. Um, TZ Walker, there it goes. One, one reception for 47 yards. I am very, very tired of seeing games like that. TZ Walker, one catch for 47 yards and you don't see him again. One catch for one touchdown, you don't hear from him again. And this is supposed to be a new Look, look, I know it's brand new. It's brand new. So again, growing pains, remember that growing pains, but I I really didn't think that this would be an issue. Now, I do like Derrick Henry. Three catches for 19 yards. Now, last week, he only had one catch, but it was for 19 yards. This time, he had three catches for 19 yards. So, again, they still continuing to have him involved in the passing game, which I love. Not only like, but love. Uh Justice Hill, two catches. Leonte West, one catch. Chris Moore, one catch for six yards. So, the ball went to a bunch of different targets, man. Rashad Baitman obviously he's the one that had the best day today, but we miss A Flowers like crazy. We really, really do. We miss A Flowers like crazy. Uh, the past game is certainly not the end of game. It's been two games, so it's hard to really tell what's what, but things ain't the same without number four out there on that field. And I think that's pretty obvious. I mean, we we we already know that. But Z Flowers is truly missed out there uh for the Baltimore Ravens offense. So hopefully he can play against the Cowboys because this offense, they they need him badly. Ravens defense. Wow. Tyler Shook, man. He I I gained a lot of respect for him uh after that game. I hate as soon as I heard the comments from Anthony Weaver, I hated them. I I really did. I did not like those comments whatsoever. Some of y'all might be thinking I'm blowing out of proportion. I never liked it though. A poor man's Josh Allen. I just I don't even say the poor man's part in my opinion. Oh yeah, he he remind me of Josh Allen because of he can do X, Y, and Z just like Josh, but a poor man's Josh, I don't like that. And Tyler Shook let it be known in his press conference that he certainly heard that. But Tyler Shook, that man like he was nice, man. And he was tough. He was um what the Baltimore Ravens didn't do what I thought they were going to do. They didn't make Tyler Shook make the bad decision. They didn't force him into making the bad decision. Ravens rushing four couldn't get pressure. Ravens had to blitz to get pressure. And this game show, we talked about on offense how we missed number four, Jose Flowers. This game gave us another reminder of how bad we miss Nami Madabk. And what's crazy is that there's so much pressure on him when he returns because I he ain't going to be no full-time player from jump. I don't think he ain't played in almost a year, so I can't expect him to be out there every single snap from jump. But man, with Namdi Madabk, um, we just we need, in my opinion, we need to be able to get there with four. We we we we got to our pass rush got to be better with just four alone. We ain't we can't be sitting the house every single time. And I felt like this game really reminded me, let me know if maybe I'm overstepping, but this game reminded me of those Rex Ryan's game. Not who's not Rex Ryan, Wink Martindale, excuse me. Where we just kept blitzing, kept blitzing, kept sending people. Kyle Hamilton was blitzing almost every play. It seemed like not obviously not every play, but we just kept blitzing, kept blissing, and it just a lot of times it just was not working. It was not working. Tyler Shook, man, like when you look at his numbers, they say one thing, 27 for 34, 252 yards, and one touchdown, which is nice. He got sacked three times for 19 yards. One was Tavius Robinson, one was Mike Green, and one was Trey Hendrickson, but he really did his thing when you look at the game. The numbers don't even they don't tell the whole story. They really don't. Tyler Shook, he evaded pressure a lot of times. He threw the ball away a couple times. Um, sometimes he had to scramble, pick up some yards. He and and then he found he found that outlet receiver, man. He did. Whether it was a hot route, whether it was the intended route, whatever it might be, he found his guy and he got it to him. This was a game where the Ravens, Jesse Mentor, did not adjust. He did not adjust. And if he did adjust, his adjustments were not good enough. The Saints adjusted better. We got our coach in this game. Straight up. We we we we really did. Number 83, the tight end for the Saints. That man was going crazy. Let me Let me see how many yards he had. I don't even know how many yards he had. Four catches for 66 yards. Average 16.5 yards a catch. His longest was 25 carries. He had four catches and he had four targets. So every time he was targeted, he caught the ball and he kept catching the ball on third downs. He kept making clutch plays. And what's crazy is that I know we look at Ravens defense and we look at that that fourth down play where it looked like Tyler Shook did not get it cuz he didn't get it. He didn't he didn't cross over the touchdown, but the refs called it a touchdown. Was a terrible call. But three things. Number one, on that play, there was a face mask by Rocoan Smith. Rocoan Smith literally turned Tyler Shook's face mask around. And two things, two more things. Um, on the two previous plays, on third down and on second down, they scored touchdowns. Like number 83, that was a touchdown. He was not down at all. And then when they was on the goal line, Tyler Shook looked like he crossed over the goal line. That should have been a touchdown. But the rest, no, no touchdown. [snorts] So, I know so many of us, we got upset with that fourth down play, like, oh, they didn't cross cuz they didn't. They really didn't. But the previous not one, but two plays, they were touchdowns. They really were. So, it is uh what it is. Now, um, when you look at the rushing, Travis, uh, at he had eight carries with 25 yards, so not much of anything. Uh, Tyler Shook had nine carries with 23 yards and a touchdown. And Tyler Shook, man, he he was frustrating, man. He was so frustrating because he's one of them quarterbacks that sort of reminds me of a Joe Burrow or maybe a Trevor Lawrence to where they're not known for their scrambling, but they got their their legs are good enough to make something happen and to do some damage to you. And if you if you get caught lacking, if you get caught not paying attention, oh, they could catch you slipping. Or even if your your pass rush tries to get there and he make a miss, he end up taking off and getting some positive yards. Uh Alvin Kamar had nine carries for 15 yard, nothing. 1.7 yards per carry. So Ravens took care of business against Alvin Kamar, too. Really just everybody. Uh Etien, he there were two plays where he almost fumbled that ball. He didn't fumble. One play where he uh he almost fumbled it but he he kind of like bobbled it but then caught it but then went down to the ground. Ravens touch him. That was a negative play for the Saints. Then there was another play where uh Shook tossed it to him and he sort of bobbled it again and then he like he like turned around and but he ended up getting control of the ball and the Ravens tackled him. But I was really hoping that he would get some more opportunities and Ravens would make him fumble. But that obviously didn't happen cuz again the Saints they they didn't make the bad play. They really didn't. They didn't make the bad play. And this and so many Ravens fans are like, "Oh, this is such a harlike game because the Saints, they just hung around, hung around, hung around and just allowed the Ravens to implode." And that's exactly what the Baltimore Ravens did. They imploded. But Saints, they took care of their business. Now, Chris Ave Ravens didn't have an answer for him. And it's not like he went crazy, but he had eight eight catches for 86 yards. Eight catches for 86 yards. Look at Baitman had seven catches for 88 yards. So, Baitman had less catches than him, but more yards. So, you say, "Oh, Baitman had a better game cuz Baitman even had a touchdown, too. Chris Lave had a touchdown as well where he looked like he's just wide open because their other receiver took Malachi Stalks out of the play cuz Malachi Starks followed him and then that left Chris Ave open. Boom, touchdown. So yeah, anyway, Chris Lave like Ravens just could not stop him for nothing. They really couldn't just play after play after play. Chris Ave just kept making them kept making plays. It it was frustrating. Um Jawan Johnson, we talked about him. Four catches six number 83, four catches for 66 yards. Uh Devon Vele, number 14, five catches for 64 yards. He he was clutch for them, too. He was clutch for them. He made some nice plays for New Orleans today. He really did. And Ravens just they didn't have an answer for these guys, man. with 83 the there was one third down I think it was like third and 13 something like that and I was like oh yeah we straight we got it nope and it was like a a little dump off a little pass maybe to the flat it wasn't a pass for for much yards or much yards initially or then that yak kicked in and yeah he ended up getting like 20 something yards on that play instead of just the 13 and Ravens like they had guys backed up they were playing at the sticks it it was crazy, man. The I couldn't believe the Ravens gave that up, but they kept on giving it up on third down. They kept on giving it up. This defense just was not it today. They they they really really weren't, man. It was It was really sad to watch. It really was, man. Um but that's that's the game, right? That's part of the game. So, this defense, they they got to look themselves in the mirror, man. They they really really do. um whether it's the play call and the execution, a mix of both. I think it's a little bit of everything. But this was a big wakeup call for this defense that what they currently doing it ain't and I know it's only two weeks. I get it. Trust me, I know. So, we don't want to overreact to just two weeks of game play, but we also want to look for tendencies and things that the Ravens may be doing right now that they need to fix or they need to eliminate or they need to stop doing so they can be better moving forward. with Ravens special teams. You know what's crazy is that so many people were asked the question, what's the biggest concern for you for the Ravens heading into this season? For me, it was at kicker, but it actually should have been the other side of special teams because that's been a sneaky problem for the Baltimore Ravens so far this in both games where they given up big returns to the opposing team. It happened in this game multiple times. It happened in the game against the Colts multiple times where they give up these significant returns whether it's it's missed tackles uh not taking the proper angles like Raven special teams on that part of special teams they've been lacking Tyler Lou been doing his thing now Tyler L technically in this game he went one for two but on the one that he did miss he made a 49 yard field goal which is amazing by the way but on the one that he did miss it got blocked So Tyler Loop can't do anything about that. That's all that special teams offensive line. Tyler Loop cannot do a thing about that at all. So none of that blame in my opinion goes to Tyler Loop. But special teams, they they'll giving up some returns, man. So they they they really got to get that together cuz they've been lacking. They have been lacking for sure. And you you you don't want this to be a a consistent thing. You don't want this to develop into a pattern to where kick returners know like, "Oh, hey, this Ravens special team, they weak, man. We Oh, if we take this right angle right here, we going to be straight." No, you you don't want that. You don't need that because that makes life so much easier for opposing offenses. But on punt return, that punter was putting us in position where Leonte West, he didn't get no returns. Uh, as far as kick returns, uh, Chris Moore, it was nothing crazy today. I was hoping that it would be, but it was nothing nothing crazy today. And there was that one return where it looked like he fumbled. Oh, that was close. But yeah, his knee was down, so it was ruled down by contact, which was the right call. But man, I was I was scared, man. But yeah, the the special teams ain't let our special teams return game do much of anything. And Ravens coaching, we got our coach in this game against the Saints. Uh Jesse Mentor with his first challenge of the season was not a good challenge in my opinion. And that ended up leaving the Ravens with two timeouts. Then they ended up using one a little bit later on. Then they were left with one timeout. But anyway, with that challenge, um there was not like evidence. There was not even on the replay looking at it live. There was not anything that clearly told us, oh yeah, that's definitely not a catch. And this there wasn't even anything that told us, uh, maybe they may rule that incomplete. I just I didn't see anything. So, it was not a good challenge. I know there was some people that say, oh, well, maybe he just wanted to call the timeout for the defense. Worst case scenario, yeah, that's a possibility, but it wasn't a good challenge. It really wasn't. And I mean, at the end of the day, uh, it didn't impact it impacted the game, but it didn't impact the Baltimore Ravens, uh, having an opportunity at the end to win it still because they did still have an opportunity to get it done. When they were moving, they were moving. They were moving, but then we all know how things ended, unfortunately. Um, so yeah, coaching in this game, Jesse Mentor with calling the defense. No, it it wasn't good in this game. They could not clutch it out. They could not get enough stops with Declan Doyle with calling the offense in this game. No, this was definitely a rookie game uh for both of them. And hey, we were right there in it. Ain't like we got whooped anything like that. We were right there in it. But the Ravens, they held a lead. They held a lead for a little while. You know, two score lead. They had it for a little while, but they ended up crumbling. They fell apart. They they they really did. They fell apart in this game with a lead. And see, my camera ended up dying because it was so tired of me talking about the Ravens from this game and how they performed, but they got to get better. It's still early in the season, so they got plenty of time to correct things. This is a rookie coaching staff, so it's very important to remember that. I know it's hard, but it's a rookie coaching staff. That's no excuse at all. And again, Jesse Mentor told us to keep them high expectations. So, we as Ravens fans will keep those high expectations because we expect them to do much better than what they showed today. And they will. Things will get better. They'll adjust. They'll learn and they'll move forward and they'll grow. We got all the confidence in the world in them. And now it's time for them to show that all the way in Brazil. So, we we appreciate y'all watching. Thank you all for watching. I know this game was very very frustrating for all of us and we felt like that kid that they showed at the very end of the game who was crying after the game was over cuz that's how we all felt inside. I know I did cuz I was like really like this this thing really slipped away like that. But on to the next one. Ravens are one in one. It's disappointing. It's a and my camera died once again. So you know what? I ain't going to talk no more. Y'all don't need to even hear no more. You already know what time it is. Ravens do better. Get better.
