12th, 2024 to include services for
additional design and construction
administrative services for the Gartman
Farm subdivision design engineer jump.
Thank you. Uh within the past couple
weeks, this committee and common council
approved the construction contract for
the Gartman bid package 3. This is a
contract with both for the construction
oversight of that project. Um, city
staff does not have the capability or
the capacity to do a project of this
size and keep up with all our other
projects. Um, so we're asking for an
amendment to Folk's Contract for them to
do the oversight.

>> Yes. It was all part of the planning for
the Gartman subdivision

this is coming out of the TID TID funds

this is um a request as as approved in
the 2026 budget um from our motor
vehicle division to replace an existing
forklift. Um, for those you may not
know, we we operate two forklifts um
throughout the division. One
specifically is utilized by our motor
vehicle division. um surprisingly used
for lifting heavy things. Um and we also
have another forklift that is used uh
exclusively um in our recycling center
for material management and um those
kind of activities. So um we reached out
to several local vendors that um we know
and trust um that these we had several
quotes that met our spec um and either
one of them would be good units. So, we
would recommend the lower cost one. Um,
[clears throat] with that, I guess I
would take any questions. I guess we're
It includes the price includes a trade
in of our existing one. Um, so keep the
cost down that way.
Okay. Um, one quick question. So, the
the bidding process that doesn't go
through that that that state um like the
like the the trucks or that doesn't go
through that on that normal process. So
yeah, so this would be purchased through
source well contract which is a uh
pre-bid

operate? No, this would be all inclusive
for everything we would need for that.

the way we purchase the ve the the last
couple of vehicles that we have and our
equipment of we've always used uh they
got the the tradein, we get the tradein
value of that. Is it ever looked at
within the city whether that equipment
would be better used be given into a
different department if they were was
actually being able to use as opposed to
uh always trying to get the rebate or
the or the um the the turn in on the
value for the
the equipment?
>> Yes, we do do that. Um, specifically I
can think of an instance last year where
we um were communicating with transit um
regarding a snow removal piece of
equipment. So um we do uh communicate
back and forth and if we can use it
somewhere else um we are all open to
that typically. Yes.

>> Thank you chair. um what's the typical
useful life on a piece of equipment of
this nature, a forklift like this?
>> So, when we develop our vehicle ac
acquisition replacement program that we
that we have, um we typically assign a
useful life to the type of vehicle. So,
for a forklift, it's anywhere between 10
and 15 years is what we assign to it. um
a loader like that you approved
a few weeks ago. Um that typically is a
20-year um life to it. And it really
kind of depends on the type of
equipment, how it's used. Some of our
sewer equipment is a little quicker just
because of the the nature of the use.
>> Um like garbage trucks for instance are
are usually an 8 to 8 to 10 year cycle.
>> Right. How how old is the forklift that
we're replacing? Um, this one is 15
years old.
>> So, okay. Very end of useful life. Okay.

demand was the name the truck contest
this year. Um, so [clears throat] just
wanted to update uh public works
committee here that um we uh brought it
back beginning of July as we did uh last
year for the first time and uh this year
we had uh 52 submissions I believe it
was. Um 31 of those uh happened during
the parade, the Fourth of July parade,
which I think goes handinhand with
everything that we we heard as feedback
from the public of what a success the
parade was and the positive interaction
that was being had. Um so uh we had uh
of all those submissions again we kind
of went through the same process where
uh we tallied up um you know everybody
kind of put in their vote uh internally
staff uh department heads I emailed out
council and everything um and then so
for the winning we're doing one of each
of three different vehicles this year um
obviously the garbage truck uh
overwhelming demand was trash and uh the
dump truck we're going to do load
warrior and the snow plow which had the
most um consistency in the votes was uh
blizzard wizard. So what we will do like
we did last year, we will um I'll have
our signs uh division. They will start
preparing the the stickers, the labels
to decals to put on the vehicles. We'll
notify the submitters of their winning
and if they want to come in, get their
picture taken with the the vehicle,
they're more than happy to. So
