Back on the foam and job.
Got snow out this morning. He's got a
driving lesson.

Anyway,
it is what it is. He's got He's back
with the original fella now, not the
clown he was with last.
So,
this bit's complete now.
Foams in up there.
That's a full can of foam.
So, that's well sealed. Just needs
chopping off. Cut it off later when it's
gone off.
Um just run this bead of silicone around
this window. It looks an absolute
disgrace, but
it's temporary and I'm no good at
silicone.

So, everything's sealed in now. I think
this is the weather side, so
everything's sealed ready for the
winter.
So, it's time to push on round the back.
Got the two Brought the two spare acrows
and the two spare strong boys, so we can
get that propped up properly.
And then,
yeah, it's pretty much ready to take
that out.
Just need to get the ceiling propped.
I've got plenty of acrows and stuff now.
And when I'm on here, this
more mess here,
I'm going to chew it out these
thermolites, put a bit of strength into
it, cuz this has been extended here.
So, we can make a nice job of that. Not
trying to tie into that.
Let's just tie them properly.
Block tight.
Um
yeah, when we take this down, that'll
open the cavity up here. So, we'll have
the open cavity.
Yeah, plenty to do.
But, obviously I've I've got to be
careful when doing the meal. Try to get
these doors out.
Right, I've got to tidy up.
I'm going to start taking this up now.
See if we can find the brickwork below.
I don't want to build on that stuff
underneath it.
I'll have a little check anyway.
And then these fitters must have been
responsible by trimmers. They were just
cutting everywhere. Absolutely
everywhere. They've trimmed everything
to death.
And I'm pretty sure these doors are
pretty easy to get out. We had some from
B&Q like this and you just pop all the
the trimmers on the side and then the
screws. You see the screws.
It's just going to be a wait.
So, when
I can't brick brick up till the doors
are out. I can't take the doors out
really till Alex is here.
I think
they open up that cavity.
Obviously, the wall goes across there,
so I don't need to cut that back
just cut that back where the window is.
Leave the bottom bit in cuz it's solid
wall.
So, still a bit of fiddling to do. I'll
get the two things done. Get as much
prep work as I can do.
And
take it from there.

Open up the cavity.
Cuz obviously there's no no door
anymore, so we need the cavity
continuous all the way around the
opening. It's just a wall, isn't it?
So, just need to get the rest of this
stuff out. Just like

With the hand tools. Don't need the
power tools.
So, we'll just work our way along. You
see there's a bit of damp closer. Just
to
stop it going in. And then we've got the
wall
which we can crack on from.

Chopped out. Hoover it out.
This is clear, so I'm going to drop all
this clean down there.
So, drop it down for a look.
Close up there.
Can I put it up? Yeah, put it up.
Cuz the wall's there.
And fresh damp course down there, the
steel too.
With the
roots underneath it.

Yeah, look at that.
It's down in the cavity now under the
DPC.
So, it's having a good spring clean as
well. Getting all the cavity cleaned
out.
Cavity was obviously bridged. They had
damp course in it, but um you can see
it's down It's damp down there.
So, now that I've took all the crap out
of the cavity, and took took the the
plug out of it, it can air out. It can
dry out.
And get the whole cavity I'll be able to
ventilate it if you like.
So, that's doing it a favor.
I'm taking everything there.

Just got this last bit to get out.
And then it's um
run a course of brick across the bottom.
Chop this bit out. I think I shall chop
this out before I tidy this end.
And then I've got to knock that that bit
out for the block work to
take the cavity out basically.
As I say, me me um
me thing about continuous cavity. You
can see where the repair's been.
Where it used to be a
used to be a continuous cavity. So, now
we're going to put it back to being a
continuous cavity.
Bit of a mixture of
clinker and
thermalite. You know, you're not
supposed to mix them.
Yeah. Cuz that's going all the way up.
And across.
And back.
It'll make sense tomorrow.

Started chewing out down there.
And that piece of block fell off there,
which left it with a
not a lot of seating.
And that brick could be cracked, so
better safe than sorry.
So, it's all propped up now.
So, all the weight has been taken by all
the joists.
So, I can start fiddling away here now.
Get another couple of toothers out.
Definitely take that one out.
Take that out. Try and get under that
block a bit.
Yeah, and then obviously the lintel's in
the main member, still fixed at the

It's still sat on the
face work.
So, it's not going to fall.

I break early, so Mr. Man thinks it's
dinner time already.

It's hard. It's lucky because the sun is
over there.
If you're facing That's facing out the
back. The sun's like over my shoulder.
Like in that corner, so
it's over at the front of the house most
of the day. It's going to be take a long
time before it gets back into the
garden.
So, this is probably the coolest part.
I'm probably got the coolest job in the
northwest at the moment.

So, it's just kind of remedial stuff.
Finish that bit once I've turned that
bit, and I can clean it all out properly
then. And then it's take that bit out as
well, and then re-clean that that I've
already cleaned.

acrows and strongboys around.
And set up.
And we're propped now.
Ready for that lintel to come out. I
don't really
I don't think we're going to be taking
that lintel out today. There's going to
be a lot of farting about up there with
all that loose beam filling and stuff.
We might even have to take a bit of
ceiling out right to get at that from
inside.
Which is always annoying.
Um
need to check the ceiling's okay to be
damaged.
Asbestos wires. There is some in the
house, but I can't remember which one it
is.
But um yeah, we're all propped up.

it's sat on at the front.
This has got a little bit of bit left
there, so we're going to take this
section out
cuz that's coming out completely.

outside somewhere.
So, yeah. We'll leave that bottom bit
in, just take the cavity out.
We just need to um
chop out the plaster to make sure we're
going through same line it's all the way
down.
All right. Let's get cracking now.
All the hidden stuff you don't think

Like I say, all we're doing is going
like that by 325, 330 mil.

Cuz you've got lintel sat on it. You
don't want to just put screw ties up
there. You want to tooth them in.
I learned that lesson on a steel job
where they wanted to put the piers
extending.
But they didn't want it They wanted it
toothed in. So, that's an old video too.

This side, obviously this side we're
moving over to.
So,
there's the evolution for you. You can
see straight through there where they
cut where they did the
full full depth cut.
Cool.
It should catch the sunlight in that

That means that's an accurate cut.

Very rare that happens.
So, yeah, it's basically tidy up now.
Maybe get that pocket taken out for the
new lintel to go in.

That first before I tidy up. Yeah, let's
get it right. This end's all sorted.

So, a couple of trips to the skip and
some.
And then
Alex
Alex has left back to phone me and he
came back at half past one. His mom and
his sister.
Mom's not good after injections. So, I
just said leave it today.
So, we'll get you fresh tomorrow.
First thing is bank lintel out.
And we can get cracking with the lintels
in. Get these two new lintels put in
straight away.
While that's going off, jump on the
block work and get that up.
And then finally after that,
we'll
we'll put the

Yeah, this door shouldn't be too hard to
get out. I think it's only a few
grabbers and the you pull all the trims
and stuff off and the doors just lift
out once off the tracks. I'm pretty sure
that's how they work.
We should be able to get them out in one
piece in good condition. I'm going to
take that barrel there. Take that
barrel.
And then get back here and get tidied
up.
Bosch.
Right.
Something's very out of level there.
Either the lintel or the door. I'm
guessing it's the lintel.
Anyway.
That's ready for I need to close these
joists above.
Which I propped on that lintel that
acrow
and timber.
So,
tidy up and bugger off.
That's the plan.
Don't need to chase that bit for sake of
three courses. The brick the blocks step
across on top of that and then I'll put
a screw tie in there, maybe one in
there.
But it'll all be solid.
So, big first job tomorrow is door out.
Then we can put the scaffold back up.
Get the lintels done.
