I am Rich Kegy with Intercon Services,
Inc. and I am the executive vice
president.
Well, as many have seen, the typical
electrical grid is very limited in
regard to the amount of power that
they've been able to provide. So a lot
of of our uh clients are looking towards
trying to work with natural gas turbines
as well as other traditional types of
power but those are not readily
available either. So what we've been
doing is looking at each site
individually and determining where the
natural gas pipelines are. what are the
options for those natural for those
sites as well as where can they find
[music] that electric grid um early
it is very it is very important to get
with the um electric utilities extremely
early to talk to them to find out
exactly how much power is available and
if it's not available then what is it
that they can provide in other means
Many communities are under a lot of
scrutiny about data centers right now
and much of that comes from social media
as well as other communication avenues
that they listen to the the um to the
news every day as well as some of their
neighbors that don't know much about
data centers. So it's extremely
important for two things to happen. The
first thing is that we provide
education. So [music] I think that
across the all of our neighborhoods and
across the platforms that we do have to
provide education to communities to
understand what data centers are for and
and how they are built. Some of the
concerns that are out there are noise.
Um some of it is pollution. Some of
there's a lot of different concerns that
we can educate people about. Um the
local politicians really listen to their
constituents. So whenever they hear that
there's going to be concerns from their
constituents, then they go out and they
um obviously look at options to not have
data centers in a community. So one of
the things that I believe that we can do
is to talk to those local communities,
understand what it is that they need,
what are their concerns, and potentially
provide those. Some of those things that
I've seen in the past and have been in
development for quite a long time um are
listen to about maybe baseball fields or
soccer fields, sidewalks, road
construction. Those are the types of
things that data centers don't typically
think about, but you can look at as an
option to pro try to provide something
to community. Um just the uh
taxes are not enough to really think
about. You really have to look about
what is important to that community.
What builds community trust is
communication. Communication is key as
well as education.
