Video summary
The video begins with a focused trading session on Thursday, August 27th, where the host emphasizes a disciplined mindset centered on process rather than immediate profits. The market opened strong with the NASDAQ leading gains by over one percent, while gold and oil also posted significant increases; however, volatility measures like the VIX remained elevated before contracting toward lower levels. The trader discusses their specific positions, noting that early trades in the QQQ were stopped out due to weak chips pushing prices up against short expectations, but these losses were offset by a successful trade in Circle crypto. Throughout the session, the host highlights the importance of following a pre-defined plan and dismissing greed or doubt, aiming to maintain statistical probabilities rather than gambling on market movements.
A significant portion of the broadcast is dedicated to analyzing earnings reports and post-earnings options strategies, particularly focusing on CrowdStrike and Salesforce. The trader explains that while these stocks moved significantly beyond their expected ranges after earnings, resulting in losses on neutral trades, they also executed a short put vertical on CrowdStrike to capitalize on potential continued upward momentum. The discussion extends to upcoming earnings for companies like Ulta Beauty and Affirm, where the host evaluates liquidity and historical volatility patterns to decide whether to trade them, ultimately choosing to pass on several due to poor option pricing or weak volume despite some stocks hitting new highs.
As the market closed, the trader engaged in a "Day Close" strategy involving large-scale butterfly spreads on the S&P 500 index, aiming to profit from a lack of upward movement or a specific price range. The session ended with a tense battle between chip stocks like NVIDIA and AMD, which were pushing higher, and other sectors that remained stagnant or declined, creating a tug-of-war dynamic near the market close. Although the trader successfully filled some orders on the 30-strike butterflies, they missed their ideal entry points for others as the index hovered around the 7730 level, concluding the day with a wrap-up that looks forward to the next trading session and a giveaway for navigation trading merchandise.

Hey everyone, welcome to Power Hour
Live. Today is Thursday, August 27th.
We've got the S&P up 43, NASDAQ up 318,
Russell's up 10, and the Dow up 79.
NASDAQ up over a full percent, by far
the strongest.
Gold is up a quarter%, silver's up 2%,
notes and bonds are a little bit red.
10-year yield up a half percent. Oil's
up 2%. Natural gas up 1.3.
Soybeans finished small red. Wheat up
1.3%, soybean or corn down 1%. Euro and
the pound are flat. Bitcoin up 2% over
80,000.
VIX contracting down 4.34.
We got VIX 14.55.
As far as my trading today, VIX got
shooken around. Is that a word? Shooken.
Slapped around. Uh first two tranches
got double stopped and the others have
been one-sided. So bicks are going to
end a little bit red today.
Had two day trades. Uh one was a winner.
Uh well the first one was a loser that
was in QQQ.
And in the Q's the chips were weak. I
was trying to get short under the
pre-market low
and it pushed up on me. So, I cut it for
a small loss and then had a nice winner
in circle.
Cryptos have been strong.
Got long on this pullback to a previous
day high and got out pretty close to the
top on my last contract.
So, that was a nice trade. Loser was
about 600. Winner is about plus 1,200.
And let's see what else.
No one DTE. I've got a hedged iron
condor.
Well, let me go down the list here. I've
got a I've got two DC time machines that
expire today. This one needs under 7705
to hit,
which is now 15 points away.
And then the other one's further away.
I would need under 7680 for that one to
hit.
Hedge iron condors kind of sitting in
the valley. Need a little bit of a move
up or down on that.
Uh still holding the number 208 which
was the single turned into a double.
That thing has just done absolutely
nothing for days. It's up it's up like a
hundred bucks. 200 bucks. I've been
holding it for days.
Still still in decent range. So
maybe one of these days those uh
[snorts]
those the opt the uh volatility of the
back and front will coordinate.
But I'll continue to hold for now.
Uh, I did put on a post earnings crowd
strike shortput vertical.
Basically one to one risk to reward
for a potential continuation higher.
So for crowd
it move is up beyond its expected move
and so it on average over the next seven
days it's moved almost 12% continued and
over the next 30 days over 20% on
average.
So looking to take advantage of that.
Plus I like the fact that crowd is just
under all-time highs.
just under all-time highs. So,
see if we get a continued push through
all-time highs.
Well, I like that you're saying that,
Chris, because you know what that means.
Are you trying to play reverse
psychology on yourself since you need a
pullback?
[snorts] Uh, also did a uh earnings
trade in Nvidia. That was a nice winner.
Already took that off. And then my Crowd
Strike and CRM neutral trades. uh took a
loss on those. CRM's up 22% after
earnings. Crowd Strike's up 19,
so they did not stay within their
expected move. Other big movers, MSTR's
up 12%.
Service Now up 10. Nvidia's up eight
after earnings.
Adobe's up six.
Biggest red MRNA is down six and a half.
Do have some earnings after the bell
today.
We've got Ulta Beauty
which looks like it's about a coin flip
to stay within the expected move or not.
So if I were to do something, I would go
probably a little directional on that
one.
Marll
over the last 5 years it has exceeded
its expected move 40% of the time so
stays within 60%.
A firm is 5050.
It has been
having less movement for earnings over
the last one, two, three, four, five
cycles at least though.
None of these have really great options
as far as liquidity. Let me see. Marll,
I think Marll is going to be the best.
Yeah, Marll's Marll's really good.
Ulta.
Yeah, those are a little
Ulta is a little sketch.
I mean, it's a $535 stock, but pretty
weak volume.
A lot of strikes under a hundred traded
today.
$530 stock, but $5 wide on the bid ask.
I wouldn't trade that. Uh, a firm.
Affirm used to be decent. Let's see.
A firm is decent. 15 cents wide on a $77
stock on the call side. Puts are a
little wider.
At the money strikes are about 45 cents
wide.
So, Marll would be the one that I would
trade, but
Chris says Marbell's going up.
Marll looks like it hit an all-time high
back in June of last year
of around 330. It's currently trading at
243.
I think I'll pass. I don't really have a
6040 on the expected move.
Let's see. The uh
over the last five years it has
gapped up eight times, gap down 12.
Yeah, I think I'll pass.
Chris, are you playing it bullish
or are you just saying what you think
it's going to do?
You doing a broken wing fly or how you
doing it?
[snorts]
Just call vertical. Okay,
[snorts] Chris is playing a call
vertical.
a long call vertical on Marll.
That's your
That's your warning.
Uh let's see.
Trump daddy was on the mic a little bit
earlier
talking about
Lake America.
Jackson Hole Symposium
started today. I haven't heard much out
of that yet.
Tomorrow morning, 30 minutes after the
market opens, Worsh will be speaking at
the event.
So, that could shake things up a little
bit.
[laughter]
What did Kansas City do to Trump?
America City. I'll go I'll go with that.
I actually don't like Kansas City anyway
because it's in Missouri.
confuses everyone.
[laughter]
I think it's hilarious. Lake America.
I've never been to Lake America.
Heard it's nice in the summer.
Uh the other thing is I was trying to
get filled today on a bearish VRR as we
were approaching today's upper expected
move. It it literally missed my fill by
cents. So that would have been a nice
one.
It actually
um
on the one standard deviation
calculation
that I use on flux, it actually
basically top ticked it on the one
standard deviation move. This VIX
calculation is always a little bit
higher. So, it didn't quite get there
and that's one I was happen to be
looking at. But, um
yeah, that would have been that would
have been a nice one. Should
have, could have, would have.
A Kansas City bourbon called Bottle. B O
TLDD. Never heard of it. Hm. I have to
check that out. Chris,
we've got some uh we've got some bourbon
distilleries here. I haven't heard of
that one, though.
Edmond's Honor. Okay.
Check it out.
Wonder if it's new.
Well, SPX was on a nice slide from 7740
down to 7712, but now it's just been c
kind of chopping between 12 and 20
for the last
hour.
Oh, what I was getting ready to say, one
one of the reasons I was looking to put
on that
uh bearish
uh spread right there is because S&P was
still grinding up or kind of going
sideways and the VIX really started to
>> kind of push up.
Uh so that was one confluence I was
looking at. And then the other one
looking at spy. I had another level
marked at the exact same area
from uh from
last week
that all kind of lined up. So
I liked it but just didn't get filled.
Edmond's honor. All right.
A boss, you didn't take it for 100%.
S&P bouncing back up above pre-market
high.
>> [laughter]
[gasps]
>> What kind of wild conglammo do you got
going there, Abash?
Looks like a Rick and an upside
butterfly or something like that.
Ricking a few butterflies. Okay.
Oh, I did put on a new time fly today as
well
on the 812 DTE
What else happened with you all today?
Any good trades?
Elliot, did your bricks get slapped
around like mine did?
The old Vshape typically
no bueno for Vicki. Vick's okay.
He must have been shutting him down
early or something
or wider stops.
[cough and clears throat]
So, your one to ones are green. Your all
day 64s are a little bit red.
Oh, you got a
couple other kinds, too. I see.
Russell's still trading above previous
day high.
It's acting the strongest of the three
indices.
S&P going the wrong way
for my liking.
Oh, nice Ryan. Rick it high day.
Yeah, that should be good if we don't
start to rip.
Nvidia starting to bounce again.
Yeah, the chips
chips kind of bouncing here. AMD a
little bounce. MU,
SMH, Intel.
AVGO still near highs of day.
PLTR's been strong all day as well.
Big push for the first 15 minutes and
then kind of a grind higher.
Bitcoin couldn't really get much follow
through through pre-market highs.
Kind of back in mid-range now.
VIX at 14.5. Hit a low today of
1442.
We are getting down.
See, we got down into the 13s at the end
of 2025.
We hit a low in on August 14th of
1418.
But we are getting into extreme low VIX
territory.
I mean, it's not like Trump daddy to let
the Vicks get into the 13s. Let's be
honest.
Something's got to give.
Meta had a little wild ride today.
had a little flush below pre-market
lows, then ripped for about 45 minutes,
then gave it all up.
Meta's got a looming $1.4 trillion
lawsuit, which is about their market
cap.
S&P still bouncing.
All we had to do today to get a max win
on a DC time machine was not go up.
Didn't even really have to go down. Just
not go up.
Just didn't want to just didn't want to
play ball today.
We're going to have to get a monster
cell number
in 9 minutes.
Oh, Lando, Lando, you got the link.
We're doing a uh navigation trading
t-shirt giveaway. I know we got a lot of
new folks who don't have the navigation
swag yet.
If you got that handy, Lando, feel free
to post it.
All right, SPX. Now we're 20 points
away.
You're getting further and further away
from what we need here.
Sounds like you need to learn how to
read. Abos is what you need to do.
[laughter]
Nor I got the price slices expandable
and collapsible for you.
Not sure if you saw that. I just got it
done right before power hour.
Might need to refresh your browser.
Nor the king of memes.
Nor doesn't even type. Nor doesn't type
anymore. He just every everything's a
meme.
All right, let's see what the old
Mahomes is trading for. It's early. It's
early, but let's see.
25 butterfly.
Looks like it's trading for around
a$135.
We've got 6 minutes till MOC.
Oh, almost forgot. I got to put on my
got to put on my hedge IC for tomorrow.
Give me just a minute.
Okay.
All right.
Okay. I'm in. We got MOC in 3 minutes.
Uh, Mary's not on Twitter.
Lando, want you to DM Mary and tell her
what else how else we can [snorts] get
that to her. We got to get Mary some
swag.

Twitter posts from Navigation Trading.
This is like two for one. You get

>> [snorts]
>> SPX up 26. The 25 butterfly still around
45ish.
>> One minute to go now to give the market
and close imbalance data.
10 seconds.
>> 10 seconds.
Grinding higher into the MOC.
Mark going to close the imbalance. S&P
500 sellside 590 million. NASDAQ 100
sell side 755 million. Dow 30 buy side
132 million. MAX 7 sellside 244 million.
Small cell side.
Initial little dip back to 23.
Not the six billion cells that I was
hoping for.
25 butterfly trading for about a$160 or
so or more. Let's see. I'm going to go
ahead and
get my order ready.
put in an order on the 25 at two bucks.
sitting at 23.
back to 26.
27.
All right, I'm going to put in a 30
an order on the 30s.
sitting right in between strikes. No
fill yet.
That's 28.
Should get filled on the 30s if we push
up a little bit.
There's 29.
There's 30.
No fill. 31.
Cancel my 25s.
Five minutes to go.
There we go. Filled on the 30s.
All right. My DC time machines are out
of play. So, I'll take a little up move
for my hedge. What did I see?
need to move away from 30, preferably
up.
He
Sitting on 29 3 and 1/2
SpaceX making a little push into the
close.
Apple little bounce.
Whoa. MU popping.
That's got to do something.
MU about to go green after being
underwater all day.
Chips are bouncing,
which usually has been driving the
market, but S&P not budging. Still at
29.
Google dropping. Amazon dropping.
It's tugof-war.
Mags versus the chips.
AMD, MU, AVGO hit new highs today.
Intel,
SMH,
all moving up.
S&P stuck at 30. Two minutes.
Tesla is still trading near highs of
day.
All right, one minute.
Time to move, Momes.
Time to make your move.
What did I just get filled on?
Oh,
was part of my hedge. I see.
All right, there's 31. We need more
more up.
Stuck on 30.
31. 10 seconds.
28. 29.
Uh,
not what Momes was looking for.
>> It's like 7730.78.
7730.78.
>> Mahomes sacked in the back field.
All right, all that is a wrap for the
day. We'll be back at the open for day
trading tomorrow and then power hour at
the end of the day.
>> Everybody have a good night. Talk to you
soon.
