Video summary
The video features a poetry slam performance by Eben Ketou, a first-semester student from the English department at Tetso College, who presents his original work titled "Transient Heritage." Addressing the judges, teachers, students, and fellow competitors, the poet opens with a vivid depiction of a world that feels chaotic and futile, spinning on its axis without purpose. He describes the prevailing negativity as a force that swallows all goodness, comparing it to a swarm of locusts devouring a bountiful harvest, which highlights his sense of despair regarding the current state of affairs where evil seems to outweigh the good.
Despite these heavy metaphors, the speaker acknowledges their limitations in fully capturing the complexity of his feelings, noting that the utopian heritage he seeks remains elusive and unknown. He reflects on the burden of inherent evil resting heavily on both shoulders and heart, creating a perpetual longing that never finds an end. In response to this madness and absurdity, he declares his refusal to yield to lies or inanity, instead choosing to transform himself and let go of his current state to become something better.
The poem concludes with a powerful declaration of intent to embody the goodness he longs to witness rather than merely observing it. He expresses a desire to transcend beyond the ordinary limits and bathe in the glory of the Almighty, ultimately looking upon his people with pride for what he has accomplished. By asking if any man could describe a better fate, the poet affirms his commitment to rising above the transient nature of heritage and personal struggle to achieve a higher state of being and purpose.

Morning
to you all respected judges, teachers,
students and my rival competitors.
I am Iben Keteno, first semester of the
English department and I am here to
bring to you a poem I've written called
transient heritage. I hope you all
enjoy.
This world is vaping.
This world spins on its axis in vain.
If the wretchedness of this world is all
there is to witness, then this life
feels for not
the the bad which swallows all that is
good. Like a swarm of locust that feeds
during the bountiful harvest.
And yet my metaphors fall short in the
end.
The good of this world feels obsolete at
times.
The utopian heritage I seek remains
arcane and unknown. Even
the nature of evil we carry rests too
heavily upon our shoulders as much as it
does on our heart. This feeling of
longing, a bit devoid of end that never
stops wanting.
What am I to be in this madness? I have
to let go of it all. I have to change
who I am to become. I will not yield to
its inanity, the absurdity, the lies
that follow along the wide road.
I will be the good I long to witness.
I will transcend beyond the aether cusp
and bathe in the glory of the Almighty
and look at my people with pride of what
I have accomplished.
Could any man describe a fate better
than so? Thank you.
